Review from Rochelle C.

After a long day at the outlet, what a better way to end an exhausting day than to have some flip food. This is our go to place - clean, really good food and plenty of parking - (unlike the places in Queens). Anything and everything from the menu has all been yummy!!! And of course, don't forget to save some room for the halo halo!

REGO PARK, NY
I've been dining at Bistro Filipino ever since it opened and raved about the food and the decor in comparison with other Filipino restaurants. I regard this restaurant as a mom and pop Max's. I've promoted this restaurant to so many families that now frequent this place even coming all the way from Queens, Connecticut and Virginia. But after dining there last week, I finally just have to make a comment on a customer service gap so hopefully they can improve on.
A yelp from a year ago - "the hosts exude true Filipino hospitality". Sadly, I would only agree with this assumption for half of the hosts. I have to say that ever since the place opened, one of the hosts always lacked customer service and should take lessons from the other host that always explains, sells and just makes you feel good coming there.
Basically my plea to one of the hosts: "Please never give your customers the attitude that YOU are doing them a favor when they are patronizing your restaurant. Please make a conscious effort to "smile" and take the time to listen to your customers when they ask questions no matter what you are doing as in my experience, have always felt rushed or that we are being bothersome."
How can I give a minimum 15% tip when our party walked up to the counter 5 times to return a wrong order, to get napkins, to order dessert, to get the bill and to return the bill? The annoying part was we were doing you guys a favor by coming up there because no one was checking on us and the attitude I get is of disinterest. Also, how come there is no "Thank you, come again" when paying the bill?
I would say in all the years we've eaten there, there is always a high chance of a bill mistake/overcharge. I can't believe my infant baby was charged for a bowl of rice. No worries though, you can't go wrong with more rice. =) I also had a chuckle when I asked for napkins and I got back a bowl of lemons.
You'd think being the only customer in the place, they'd be happy to have us and take the time to wait on us. No excuse for the bad service. =( -

River Edge, NJ
Crispy pata is smaller than I'm used to, but it is the best one I've ever had. Being a former LA resident who frequented Barrio Fiesta and Max's, please believe me when I say that this small place has the best crispy pata. Portions are small, but we have yet to be disappointed. The place has only one waiter, so he gets a bit curt (in an amusing way) when the place becomes full.

First time I ordered off the menu, the second from the buffet line- both delicious :) They're more expensive than the places I've been to in Jersey City, but they go the extra mile in taste and presentation and the service is always friendly and warm. I love my Daingsilog & Mongo soup and they do them both perfect here :) I'm hungry!

I've tried a lot of the Filipino restaurants in NYC, Bergen and Jersey City. This jewel in Rockland is by far the best in terms of quality of food and ambiance. Although to me Halo-Halo pretty much tastes the same everywhere, here, they serve it in a big bowl so that you don't actually spill half of the thing while mixing it. The crispy fried chicken is really good. The hosts, Kathy & Laura, exude true Filipino hospitality. A big plus... the restroom is the best in any Filipino restaurant I've been to. My kids make it a point to go there first thing after we're seated.

I've eaten here twice and will definitely go back - they do my faves supreme justice - lumpia shanghai sizzles, chicken adobo, bijon and bistek more than satisfy and the perennial favorites, haol-halo and leche flan, bring me to a gratifyingly sumptuous finish.

The place is very clean. The food is very good...comparable to my Lola's cooking. I have brought my husband's family there - who are not Filipinos and are not the type to just try any foods - and they really enjoyed the food.

Excellent filipinio cuisine in the heart of Rockland county! (Just 10 minutes from Tappan Zee Bridge.) Fantastic dishes ... try the Lumpia Shanghai, Pork Adobo, Pork Sinigang Soup, and Fried Tilapia Whole Fish. For dessert try the halo-halo with ube ice cream! Can't wait to go back again!
