On our recent trip to Napa, et al., we had a great meal at Bistro Don Giovanni's (with a shout out to the gal at Domaine Carneros who recommended it to us). We started with the cheese tray ($10) and a bottle of Irony Pinot Noir (part of the Hwy 29 for $29 wine deal) with the Rabbit Pappardelle (delicious & delicate flavored sauce and pasta) for $17.50 and the Duck Risotto for $22.
A great meal for $85 ($49 for the food & $29 for the wine, plus tax) and tip on top of that.
The service was good -- though we were next to a large table & things were a bit slow (& loud out on the enclosed patio area). David was our server, and did a nice job -- but kept getting pulled away by the larger (& very demanding) table.
Set back from the highway and comfortably surrounded by gardens and vineyards, the bistro fits neatly into an estate ambience in harmony with the food and the wine. We always have the fritto misto, a housemade ravioli, and a fresh garden salad. On a warm day, sit on the patio to take in the aroma of the land. Over the years, we try to come here either each or every other year, which is a challenge because we are so blessed with the explosion of culinary greatness throughout this valley.
While this is a great place for groups, be sure to avoid sitting next to a large group, especially if there is a party bus in the lot.
It was a nice place to eat w/ patio dining, but the service was not what I expected w/ the limos driving through this place to drop off patrons. Our server had a phoney accent and he barely checked up on us. We asked for the dessert menu THREE times, each time we saw him pass. He cleared the table, cleaned the table and each time - he said he would bring us the menu. Instead, he would go to the table next to us to take their order - when he easily could have dropped off menus to us first to look over, then take their orders, then come back to us by the time we decided... He went to go help another table afterward, then decided to dissapear for a good half an hour before returning with menus. By that time, our dinner had already settled, and we no longer felt we had the room to stomach their desserts.
I had their seared Salmon w/ mashed potatoes. The salmon had a nice crisp thin crunch on the outside and was prepared exactly the way I liked it... [how hard is it to mess up a salmon though?] - However, my salmon was sitting on a bed of COLD mashed potatoes drizzled in a butter sauce that had cooled as well. I get that they wanted to bring everything out at one time - but comon, guys - at LEAST keep my dinner warm if you're going to make me pay for a meal that only fills half the plate for $25.
Might have been a 4 star rating had it not been for that awful server of ours. What sucked more was that we had a big party, so we were obligated to pay the included gratuity. You got lucky, buddy... you didn't deserve a penny of it, but you got lucky.
I'm so happy with Bistro Don Giovanni! My girlfriends and I ate dinner here pretty late on a Saturday night and we still received excellent service. Our food came to the table at lightning speed! The flavors were excellent and everything tasted so fresh. We had quite a long day of wine tasting so we didn't order a bottle with dinner, but the prices seemed to be right for bottle/glass service. All around, a perfect place to have a great dinner in Napa.
One of the best meals I've had in a while.
Service was very attentive but not smothery, pace was good, food fantastic.
Very good place for dinner. Nice menu options. The fried olives are fantastic. Good cocktails. I would come here often if I lived in the area.
There's this book (A Moveable Thirst) written by a guy and his friend who visits all of the tasting rooms in Napa Valley. It's a funny book, but for the purposes of this review, I mention one storyline. Both men on their journey through the tasting rooms are convinced Don Giovanni sucks. It's been years since either has eaten at Don's. Basically, any tourist who asks a local where to eat is told, "Don Giovanni's!" These guys always disagree. To make a long story short, the writer and his friend end up eating at Don's after all of the tastings have been completed and decide that "This place is pretty good."
Yes, it is good. It's very good. It's a non pretentious, reasonable meal with everything one needs to be reminded they are in Napa. It is one of the must stop dinners while in Napa, even if you have only two nights in the area.
So, I'm sitting at the bar. I bring my own bottle of wine. The wine is a 2005 Longfellow cab; a small production wine sold out of the Vintners Collective. There is a couple to my left. This couple also has a nice bottle of wine. Their wine is a 2006 Ideology cab.
This is key in Napa. Bring a good bottle of wine with you to dinner. The corkage is usually $15-$35, but is usually worth it. Anyway, I am talking to the couple to my left. We trade glasses of wine. Bob tells me, "this wine is better than mine." I tell him his wine is very good, but his it is a year younger than mine. "It will will be just fine." It occurs to me that this really may be "his" wine. I am told it is is wine. Bob and Joni you guys are awesome and very tolerant! Thanks for a great evening.
I order the lamb meatballs. I don't know what you might be thinking, but they were two huge great tasting meatballs in a red sauce. There was no over-the-top wild lamb taste. They were great.
If the locals can sit at the bar, bring a nice bottle of wine and order dinner here, so should you. Trust me when I tell you not to skip this place.

I like this place. I have been here a few times now, and the food is good and I like the atmosphere. My real problem is with their 'wine by the glass' menu. I know restaurants want people to buy bottles, but sometimes a bottle is just too much. I started my meal with a sparkling wine. They had a few to choose from, none of them great. Then with my main course I wanted a cab. They had 3 or 4 to choose from, none of them were worth anything. I tasted a few which were extremely wimpy even though the bartender said they were the full bodied ones. He then poured me one that was 1/2 cab 1/2 sangiovese that was listed as a cab. Huh? My husband had 2 zins to choose from.
C'mon, this is ridiculous. There should be a wider selection from the 'by the glass category'. They really push the Italian wine, which I get , but this is Napa.
Service: Our waiter was kind of a knuckle head. He took quite a while to take our order after we arrived, and he never offered to tell us the specials. We also were needing to order vegan food (we picked this place based on their online menu, which is apparently out of date), but the waiter was not accommodating of this need. I guess we got spoiled at a restaurant up the street where the waiter was more than willing to ask the chef to make vegan/vegetarian versions of several menu items.
Food: If you are a vegan, there is no main dish on the menu for you. The only vegetarian main dish is a cheese ravioli or a couple of the pizzas. The restaurant's website menu shows a vegetable fusilli dish, but this is no longer offered. :-( The waiter seemed rather unwilling to see what the chef could do in terms of a vegetable pasta, which is uncharacteristic based on the other restaurants we've been to in Napa. My boyfriend ordered a penne with spinach, which the waiter indicated was doable, yet he returned with spaghetti with a red sauce and no vegetables - not what was ordered. My boyfriend ended up having to order the kid's pizza w/o mozzarella, which was a pizza with french fries piled on it. Again, the waiter made no offer to toss some veggies on the pizza or slow down long enough to understand that's what we were trying to ask. The pizza crust was apparently good.
I had the puttanesca linguine, which was really tasty - the sauce was well flavored and the noodles were nicely al dente. Too bad I had to eat it while my boyfriend waited for his replacement order to arrive and he looked on in hunger.
The house wine was a solid Cab. We also had the golden beet salad and green bean salad as a starter, and it was really good as well - the beets were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The trifle desert was also very good. Good bread.
Atmosphere: It was a little loud on the inside. The patio seating looked nice. The waitstaff bumped my chair several times as they walked by, which got a little old.
All in all, not my favorite place in Napa. They should also update their online menu, especially since the only vegetarian pasta on there is no longer offered.
I went here for mothers day 2 years ago and I thoroughly enjoyed the food. We were seated outside in the shades of vineyard leaves which was nice. The appetizers were really good, we had fritto misto which is calamari, rock shrimp and green beans. The green beans were unexpectedly my favorite part. They deep fried and breaded it or something! I also ordered the ravioli which was good but the appetizers left a better impression.
Bistro Don Giovanni was recommended by a bunch of people in the Napa area for Italian food so where else were we supposed to go? In going on a weekday, we saw that the place was still crowded! Not only that, it appears that a lot of the people who were there had been friends or acquaintances with the mom & pop owners of the place. That's what I like to see in a restaurant.
Even though they were crowded, they still seated us promptly. Now, it took them a little bit of time to start waiting on us but once they started, they were good to go.
We ordered the Silk Hankerchief & the Wild Mushroom Risotto served with chicken sausage. Now, I have to be fair in that no one's risotto so far has compared to Jackson's Village Bistro (in Manhattan Beach) so I'd be surprised if Don Giovanni's can top that and I was right. The risotto, although nice & tasty, is missing a certain zing to it. The wild mushrooms did seep into the risotto nicely, but the flavor tastes like a thick beef broth. It was just ok.
As for the Silk Hankerchief, it's delicious. It's basically homemade pasta shaped like a hanky and served with pesto. The pesto was great! The pesto is not too strong and not too salty and I thought it was just perfect.
All in all, Don Giovanni is a must for Italian food lovers. Their homey feel and nice atmosphere makes the visit very pleasant.
Absolutely awful, thanks for a great B-day Lunch. Not!
The waiter was out to lunch himself and besides taking for ever for everything. He got a lot of things wrong. The first drink order went wrong and brought it back fixed weak. The coffees were cold, he brought the wrong tea... not gonna continue. It was ridiculous.
I will agree, the setting is lovely inside and out, just make sure your not at the table with the lady under it. The garden is incredible and that they use their own as much as possible is great. The food was ok-good, the sole was well done. Still for such awful service not worth it, unless your a local. There are so many better choices in Napa that are near by.
The food alone is 3.5 stars, but the ambience and service bring the overall rating to a four.
Located just north of downtown Napa along St. Helena Highway, Bistro Don Giovani is a great place to enjoy dinner in an outside patio setting overlooking the vineyards. There's also a garden area with whimsical figures and a fountain where it looks like you can sit and enjoy coffee.
Food: Satisfying and fairly priced food. We tried a tomato bread soup that was a special for the day and found it tasty.
Service: Friendly and quick, even with almost every table inside and out full. We happened to go on a very warm day and without our asking, we were placed right next to a cool air vent.
Overall we'd go back. Good for groups as well as romantic dates
I cannot even begin to explain how terrible our service was at Don Giovanni. This is supposed to be one of the best places in Napa to eat... I even wrote an email to the manager expressing our problems with the service and I was totally ignored... the email is below
To the Manager of Bistro Don Giovanni-
Hi, I would like to let you know that on Saturday August 4th, my boyfriend and I came to your restaurant with 2 other couples to celebrate a birthday. The food was wonderful but the service left a bit to be desired.
We were seated and after about 10 mins were brought bread, and after another few minutes had to ask for olive oil as well as pepper. At one point, our waiter was clearing some silverware and dishes from the appetizers from the table before our meal and came very close to poking my sister in the face with a knife that he was holding while reaching across the table to grab a plate.
The dinner was wonderful but I ordered the lobster spaghetti and I was the last one to finish, but one of the busboys cleared EVERYTHING on the table except for my meal which I was still eating. I felt really embarrassed that I was the last one to finish and felt it was really rude that everyone else's dishes had been cleared while I was still eating, I felt as though I was being rushed.
We decided to order dessert and it had been served less than 2 minutes before the waiter placed the bill on our table, again, not appreciating the rushing. And, to top it all off the busboy took away one of our groups desserts while he was still eating it, but had his head turned to talk to our waiter.
Again, I really enjoyed the food at your restaurant, but I have to let you know, that I won't be returning anytime soon. I felt like we were rushed and I really didn't appreciate it, and I thought the busboys were very rude. Anyway, I thought you should know.
Thank you,
Lisa C
Over the past three years I have eaten at Don Giovanni probably 6 or 7 times. The setting is beautiful, surrounded by an eclectic culinary garden reminiscent of a quaint Italian villa. I have had a wonderful experience for both lunch and dinner, and every time I come here I taste something extraordinary.
Starting with dessert, the bostini and butterscotch pudding are both heavenly, though I am sure I have been tantalized by many desserts at the Don's.
For appetizers, the fritto misto is a must. Perhaps the best presentation of fried calamari I have ever had (the little bits of fennel are so good!).
The remainder of the menu seems to change regularly and there are very few pastas that I have seen twice. Speaking of pasta, I am not sure how much is home-made, but it is always cooked to a perfect al-dente. I would also recommend the whole fried fish (typically branzino?) ... I've tasted it several times and it is always impressive as well as presented beautifully and boned at the table.
Over all, Don Giovanni's is a sure thing. Wonderful Italian food in the heart of Napa. Only loses one star because I have had a miscue when it came to pairing a dish with our wine (we usually bring a bottle). Also had a fettucini with truffled parmigiana sauce that didn't taste the slightest bit of truffles, although it was perfect al-dente.
On a beautiful day sit out on the patio....it will remind you of italy...tuscany to be exact.
The food is awesome: bruschetta with goat cheese and grilled peppers, duck bolognese, and the true bomb.....ta da the desert: you must have the bostini....it is a layered sundae with all kinds of marvelous layers of yummy goodness.
they also have a page of 29 dollar wines that are really good.
Check this place out.....owned and run by Italians who know what to cook
MAGNIFICENT!
Absolutely wonderful setting. Great wine, fantastic food. Just what you expect to find in Napa....or perhaps even Italy.
We started our first day in Napa here and it really set the tone. The service was professional and friendly and the food was, ok, I'll say it, incredible! Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned.
It has elements of your friendly neighborhood restaurant - even seated at maximum capacity it is not overly crowded or "stuffed".
I feel so fortunate that I can drive 45 minutes and truly feel like I am on vacation - far far away. As a bonus, it is incredibly easy to find, nestled right on the main highway...no side streets or twists and turns!
I ALWAYS eat here when I get out to Napa. They are reasonably priced for the area. My favorites are the Silk Handkerchief al pesto and the "Bostini" trifle.
Very nice restaurant inside and out. You can't beat the outside patio on a beautiful day in Napa Valley. Only one thing is missing from making this a perfect dining experience...... and unfortunately it's the most important - the food. The pasta dishes we had were too oily and very small portions. My wife and I both had upset stomachs after eating at Don Giovanni because of the greasy, oily food and the way too sweet desserts. This place is too expensive for the quality you get in return.
I have to wonder if this place is just for tourists and that's why the food tasted like they did not care if you ever came back. How many locals actually dine here regularly? I know I won't be returning.
During our Girls Trip to napa, we had dinner at Bistro Don Giovanni's. It did not dissappoint!
It was a short $10 cab ride from the Embassy Suites where we were staying (the free happy hour at the hotel left us with no other option but to cab it!) to the restaurant.
The ambience is classy and intimate, with low lighting. It was pretty quiet too, which was nice. The girls had a glass of white and I tried the bellini. We ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer, which had the best fresh mozzarella and instead of basil, had arugula, which was a nice surprise. For entrees, we ordered: the ravioli with lemon/basil cream sauce (really good!), the penne with meatballs, and the bucatini amatriciana. The bucatini, which is like a thicker version of the spaghetti noodle, was a spicy dish that delivered a lot of heat. It was a delicious meal!
Our waiter, Filippo, wrote down a few of his favorite wineries and told us to mention that he sent us, and that they'd take good care of us. He was a great server, very attentive.
We polished off our dinner with the trifle dessert, which was rich, creamy, and decadent.
I would definitely come back here for another relaxing dinner with the girls, or a romantic table for two with my man.
This place is very quirky and that fun atmosphere truly enhanced our experience there. With the knick knacks and interesting lights, vases, and art there were times where we didn't even talk we were so busy taking it all in.
The food was delicious. My boyfriend had a simple margarita pizza which was the most beautiful one we have ever seen and was equally as tasty. We also tried the minestrone soup which was fantastic and, upon my request, the chef prepared spaghetti and clams my way (not his way) which was very nice of him and delicious as well.
Definitely a must for classic Italian in Napa with an extensive wine list too!
I was recently reminded of how much I like this place. Consistent food, fair pricing, and friendly and accommodating staff. Always. (I would give the fifth star if I could get the same consistency at the bar, where you can also eat, by the way.) The menu is familiar and satisfying, and the atmosphere is fun and festive whether inside or out. For dining outdoors with our out-of-towners, Giovanni and Rutherford Grill steal the show! And don't forget to order the fried olives - mmmmm, yummy. Oh and the Scotch pudding, oh and the salmon, oh and the duck ragout, oh and the... Thank you Giovanni for getting it right every time!
From the name, I was expecting Bistro Don Giovanni to be a quiet, quaint place. A bit of calm in a world on noise and rush. Pulling into the parking lot and spying the hordes I knew that was not to be. Inside the place is a barn-like structure reminding me of restaurants you find along the New York State Freeway. The wait staff is prompt and pushy. These guys are marketing not serving. Yet the food at least partly compensates for a world of negatives (and sitting outside would have helped as well).
Fritto misto was just OK, the fried seafood and green beans were a bit bland but the aioli sauce helped. Unfortunately, the food was a bit too greasy.
Risotto with fava beans and asparagus was perfectly al dente. The promised duck confit was a crisped leg and thigh that added texture to the plate. Yet, yet, yet the plate was only good. Not as nice as it sounded on the menu. Mind you nothing was wrong with the food. It was just not memorable or distinctive in any way.
A special of sea bass was perfectly cooked and served over thin asparagus. This plate was the star of the meal and showed what this kitchen is capable of producing.
Even as I was leaving my waiter was insistently pushing desserts on me. Enough. Enough.
Last time I was here was celebrating my 22nd birthday with my family. I especially picked this place because I LOVE it!
My dad always talks about the guy that is Head of the House. And he always takes time to talk to us and make sure everything is going great. The complimentary bread is so good especially dipped in the olive oil. Ask for the olive oil with olives and spices! Even better!
My birthday meal consisted of caesar salad- really good. Right amount of sardine salty flavor in the dressing. Shared the calamari- the aioli was great alongside. Main course was the salmon, seared perfectly. Mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious.
The best part was DESSERT! Their TIRAMISU is to die for!! HOMEMADE, so delicious! We got 2! :)
It was great, the ambiance is awesome. Very cute outside area for summer dining.
Really, really good.
All of the food was excellent, but my husband's duck and the pumpkin cake that was a seasonal option were the stand-outs.
The ambiance is great. The surrounding gardens, the fountain, the yellow glow from the lights... all give off a romantic feel.
The service was good.
a new fave restaurant! what a perfect "tuscany" like wine country escape at lunch time. it was a very much appreciated mini summer vacation for me particularly since i've been hanging at dreary kaiser hospitals for over a month.
perfect summer afternoon weather to dine in their semi-outdoor seating. LOVE the ambiance!!!! LOVE THE FOOD!!!
started off with the estate cab....yum.
LOVES:
- peach salad
- shrimp pizza with golden tomato sauce & (i think) sheeps milk
ABSOLUTE LOVE......THE BOSTINI TRIFLE...layers of custard, almonds, chocolate, clear caramel, & brownie pieces ....DIVINE!!!!!!
we found a new favorite restaurant!!!!! this will be our new regular spot!!!!
AMPLE PORTIONS. FRESH LOCAL INGREDIENTS. COOKED RIGHT.
I'd have to say, I am very much in love with deep fried cheese. For apps, I had deep fried goat cheese (haha, I can't get away from it) with sauteed fairy ring mushrooms and overly charred toast (yikes!)
I had the grilled Niman pork chop with farro. Both cooked nicely. Pork chop with the right amount of pink, just as it should be EVERYWHERE, I tell ya.
I had to try their tiramisu. Being part pastry cook and being there with my pastry chef....we had to sample their dessert.
Could've used a bit more sugar to bring out the flavors, otherwise...not bad. As always, I'd like to see a bigger selection of desserts in the nicer restaurants.
I would return again, as you should try Don Giovanni once too =)
One of my favorite, most reliable restaurants in the Valley. Great outdoor trellis seating which i recommend for lunch....not as good location for dinner since you must drive to the restaurant and the local cops are hawks so be careful if you enjoy your wine.
BDG has superb, fresh Mediterranean bistro style food. You won't be disappointed.
Awesome view and atmosphere. Had lunch here after some wine tastings and it was great. The freshly baked bread was very delicious. Especially after giving it a small bath in Olive oil. We had the fritto misto appetizer with crispy green beans, onions, shrimp, calamari and shrimp. We had the linguine with braised oxtails and homemade pasta napkins with pesto sauce. For dessert, we had tiramisu. All the dishes were phenomenal. With the view of wine country at its backyard. This place has now been added as one of my favorite restaurants of all time.
Based on our friend's recommendations of Bistro Don Giovanni, it has been on our restaurants in the Napa Valley to try list for quite some time now. Yesterday it made it to the top of our list and now we're sorry that we didn't get here sooner.
After we got seated, it was quickly clear to us why it is that this restaurant has been on the top 100 list of restaurants in the Bay Area for so many years now...
Our wait staff was excellent. They were not only very knowledgeable about the menu, but also about the wine list which, as expected in the valley, was quite extensive. Our group included two children and our waiter made sure that he brought their entrees and desserts out as soon as they were ready so the kids didn't have to wait.
For appetizers we had a bruschetta and fritto misto. Both were well received by all the guests at our table.
Two of the guests at our table had steak frites and both deemed their steaks excellent. Rounding out the entrees were fusilli, risotto and meatballs with polenta which were all wonderful.
The highlights of our desserts were a brownie and gelato combination and chocolate mousse type of cake.
Prices are very reasonable for the valley and portions, though not huge, are more than adequate.
We are looking forward to our next trip.
Found this restaurang on http://dogfriendly.com. Called for a reservation and came about fifteen minutes early since we had a dog and needed outdoor patio seating. We waited about ten minutes near the fountain and then were seated at a nice big table (perfect the five of us plus Fido).
The waitress brought out a water dish and was very friendly and professional throughout the dinner. My kids had the burgers (what else do they ever order?) while I had the Ravioli and my wife ordered the spaghetti with mussels and clams. All the dishes were quite tasty - it was a cool evening so the heat lamp worked perfectly.
All in all, a beautiful restaurant and we'd come back again in a heartbeat!
So.... my girlfriend that I drove up to Napa to have lunch with, tells me that famous people eat here. No shit.... I was there.
When I first looked up the reviews for Don Giovanni, I was expecting some old school Italian restaurant that Robert Blake would show up and we could compare pistols.
Hence, my friend. Hence. This place is absolutely magnificent. Always full of myself, I thought... 'wait a minute! I am craving a burger!'
Lo and behold, they had one on the menu. It was mouth watering goodness. Absolutely spectacular. Stuff that ground meat dreams are made of.
Definitely would make a return appearance just to satisfy the fans.... the fans that are swirling about in my head.
Service was exceptional, the bathroom was clean. Five stars.... and believe me, nowadays, 5 stars is hard to come by with me lately!
=)
The place is gorgeous, beautifully decorated with an outdoor fountain..
The food however was lacking.
I went there this past Sunday for dinner with my boyfriend. After waiting 15 minutes to be seated (with reservation) we waited another 10 minutes to receive our bread after the waiter took our order.
My bf ordered the pasta with clams which the waiter came back to tell us had sold out :( I'm assuming it must be a popular dish..
He then opted for the lobster with spaghetti which although was presented nicely in a butterflied whole lobster was too small in portion.
I had the local striped bass dish which the waiter recommended over the mediterranean special..if only he had warned me that the dish was going to be tiny! the fish was a 4"x4" piece which although was cooked well, was lacking in flavor
Our waiter also forgot to bring us extra bread which we had asked for, as well as neglecting to bring the sauteed spinach side dish that we had originally ordered. Naturally, he apologized and took it off the bill.
Overall - food was sub-par, service although friendly was un-attentive, however the ambiance is definitely romantic and lively.
Cozy interior. Flatbread pizzas ($10-15). Sumptuous scallop risotto (and other entrees in the $20 range). Hearty soup du jour. Attentive service. Fresh whole grain bread. For the $$$ experience, The Girl and The Fig over in Sonoma has more succulent scallops, but this place is a fine establishment that won't disappoint.
Reservations recommended. The place was packed on Saturday night, and we were lucky to squeeze in at a table near the front. The table for 2 was tiny, the passerby kept holding the door open, and a freezing winter draft blew by us every few minutes.
My family has been coming to this place for years so I decided to give it a try. The outside seating is fab. But the food was just OK. My bf got a toothpick in the middle of his pasta. My salmon was ok and my fathers pizza was good. Beet salad was great. I heard we should have gotten the layered chocolate ice cream dessert. WE were too full though.
Came here for my best friends birthday. It's a great place for groups with awesome cocktails.
This place is known to be one of the best places to eat in Napa, and I couldn't agree more. It's not too pretentious or sophisticated, but it does what it does (simple, traditional, Italian fare), really, really well.
I've been there a couple of times, once for the Chicken, the other for the Salmon, and they were both equally excellent. The bread + oil/balsamic is addictive, so be careful and stay away if you're watching carbs!
Service was good both times, although admittedly I didn't put them too much to the test since they were quiet times (we avoid Napa at its insanely crowded times).
After checking on yelp just went here for dinner. Italian food seemed like a great idea after all the wine tasting and I was starved.
Started out with the yummy bread that they bring over, drenched in Olive Oil. The place is done very quaintly, you can almost pretend you are in a cafe in Florence. Hmmmmm the waiter has an American accent. My dream bubble just popped.
The Fettuccine with sausage was bellismo! and my husband liked but didn't love the steak. Ended up in eating half my pasta and some of the brussel sprouts.
My only complaint is they didn't have a chocolate dessert on the menu. Come on people, have a consideration for chocoholics like me that don't like Tiramisu.
Dear Lamb Chops,
We only spent one evening together and it was a beautiful summer night that i will never forget. I'm writing because I must express my undying love for you. I can't seem to get you off my mind. It must have been the aromatic scent of thyme on your skin or maybe it was the combination with the basil; whatever it was, you've taken my taste buds captive.
However I must confess that my love is not true to only you. My tongue is torn between two loves and I'm in a bit of a predicament, I don't know which of you to save room in my stomach for.
While I was selfishly enjoying our quality time over a bottle of '99 Georges De Latour, I made eyes with the most beautiful duck. It was so enticing I almost had to cry "foul" over the situation! How can I cross my loyalty to you? The temptation was just too overwhelming and I had to lean over to get aquainted. It was resting on a bed of risotto and you know I have this weakness for risotto. I hope you'll forgive me, but after my first taste, I knew I also had to have this in my life.
So my question to you is...if three's a company, what makes four?
BECAUSE THE DESSERT I MET IS DELICIOUS TOO!
=( Life is so complicated.
Monogamy is the shits....LOL
My husband, friend, and I went here in June 2009 for a Saturday dinner after a day in wine country. We arrived 30 minutes before our reservation time and there were no tables ready, so we waited out by the fountain which was pleasant although we noted that someone might have offered us a drink.
Our dinner was quite good. The service was excellent and our outside patio table provided a nice ambiance for the evening. The restaurant charges a $20 corkage fee so we bought a bottle instead. All three entrees were quite good -- I got the pork chop; my friend tried a risotto; and I'm blanking on my husband's selection. We also had some appetizers that were good and split a dessert.
I researched a lot of options for our meal and looked over many menus. Don Giovanni was very reasonably priced for the area and I'm glad we chose it!
