Neighborhood: Central DistrictNO, I'm not carrying anyone's love child.
I bought a few things off my friend's registry this last weekend (specifically 'Baby Legs'- which are SOOO CUTE! http://www.babylegs.ne...) and had them shipped to her. Instead of the items being listed as 'out of stock', I went ahead and purchased, only to be emailed the following day to be notified that they were out of stock in everything I had ordered.
HOWEVER, they were EXTREMELY pleasant to work with and we decided that a gift certificate would be a good work around.
This experience is strictly via the net, so I'm not sure about the actual store, but if the customer service is anything like I rec'd online: 5 STARS.

This store is fantastic and a must-visit for expecting and new Moms. The staff is super nice and helpful. They don't bother you if you are just wanting to browse, but if you have a question they are very knowledgeable.
Specific items I found here that were useful to me:
1) Burp cloths for $1.95 each. What a great deal! They are super soft, come in tons of patterns, hand made locally, and last and last.
2) Swaddling blankets for $9.95. Again, this is the best deal you will find anywhere. These are the "real" swaddling blanket size recommended by Dr. Harvey Karp (Happiest Baby on the Block), 42x42 inches. Like the burp cloths tons of patterns and hand made locally.
3) Moby wrap
4) Hooter Hider
5) Slim Lines breast milk freezer trays.
6) Miracle blanket
They also carry everything you need for cloth diapers although I didn't go that route.

This store has so many great things about it. They have a leading library, people that understand how to help a mom to be, and parents of a new born. They helped me learn to use my carrier, a sling. They have cute diaper bags, and fun organic clothes. They even carry Japanese week-end clothes for pregnant women. If you are having a baby this is the store to go to. They were the first store in Seattle to provide women with choices of nursing bras and knowledgeable staff.

I generally avoid baby boutique/specialty shops because I feel like they have a bunch of stuff I don't really need and can't afford anyway. This the one exception I have made. The salespeople are very knowledgeable and very helpful. They really know their stuff when it comes to nursing bras and do personal fittings. They make a wonderful ring sling AND will show you how to use it. (I've been in at least twice for help with that). They even rent things that you might need for out-of-town guests, such as portacribs, high chairs, strollers, and carseats. If you can't come in during regular business hours, they'll even let you "shop by appointment". They used to have a shop in Issaquah but now they only do shopping by appointment or item pick-ups there (in the "Spoiled by Nana" store at Gilman Village). They usually respond to emails within a few days at most.

This is the best store if you are having a baby or you need a baby gift that will actually be used. When you have a baby, you get so many gifts that people think you need, but this store has so many things that you will really use. The staff is helpful, nonjudgemental, and very knowledgeable. Another great thing is that they really know their breastfeeding! They can help you with any questions about pumps, bras, or anything else related. They also have several baby wearing options that are shockingly affordable. I got my moby wrap there and the great staff member actually recomended that I purchase the LESS expensive one eventhough I am sure they would make more money if I bought the other more expensive option. I can't say enough about this store- if you have a baby at Swedish downtown- they are really close so stop in with your new arrival before you head home and pick up the essentials you will need for the first few weeks with baby.

A must stop for the mother to be or a great place to pick up a gift for the new mother and babe. Plenty of item for both and YES, the staff is extremely knowledgeable. Well selected items and books. Hopefully you'll find a parking spot right in front as that can be hard - especially if you've got the little one(s) with you.
