I was craving a roast beef sandwich, so we though Bing Crosby's would be a good choice for lunch because they are known for their meat dishes. The sandwich sounded amazing - roast beef on a high quality baquette with bleu cheese, crispy onions and au jus. The sandwich definitely delivered taste-wise. Delicious - all the ingredients were very high quality. However, my husband was extremely disappointed with the size of his dish - he ordered the lunch trio with a roast beef sandwich, soup and salad (he was so hungry he went to Rubio's after and ordered a taco!) I agree that the portions are a little on the small side for 13 and 15 dollars respectively and wouldn't recommend coming here for lunch if you are incredibly hungry or want to eat lunch for less the $40 a couple.
However, my husband did go here for a dinner and said it was amazing! I do love the ambiance of this place, and I am excited to try the prixe fix dinner menu that they currently have - I think it's $35.95 for three courses.
Everytime I would pass this place, it seemed empty...compared to The Cheesecake Factory across the street. However, I gave it a chance and it was pretty good. The front part of the restaurant is a lounge with a bar and stage where there is live music. The atmosphere is upscale but comfy due to dim lighting, dark wood and various seating areas.
If you decide to stay for dinner, make sure you save room for dessert and try the Donuts with coffee (homemade cinnamon and sugar donuts with coffee ice cream). Yum!

Wow, it's been the longest time since I reviewed. Good thing I get to start back on top with Bing Crosby's. I came here with my dad and his new girlfriend (20 years his junior). Good times. Now I didn't have a problem with the Crocodile Cafe, but this place makes way better use of the space. Everything about this place is inviting - from the piano bar complete with a great lounge singer, to the high-backed booths and photos of Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and other stars from way back when that line the entire establishment. I was already loving the place within the first few minutes of being there.
So I just ordered the roasted herb-basted chicken, and that was amazing. They serve it with small summer squash and a corn/rice mixture...can't remember what it was called, but it was incredible. My dad ordered the filet mignon, which was thick and so great. The way they serve the food here is almost as good as the food itself. The potatoes my dad ordered were served almost as twice-baked potatoes in rolled up "potato chips" as towers, with different herbs sticking out of each tower. Amazing, and so tasty.
Being that I don't drink, I don't think that this place would be a HUGE hit to the wallet. However, with the other two that had to order their martinis followed by a bottle of wine, the tab came out to over $200. Hmm...maybe I should be a server here...holy crap those guys must do well. I went into shock when I saw that price tag...but the father...he didn't even bat an eye. Oh well, I got to enjoy it.
Oh! And the desserts. Also incredible. I ordered the creme brulee with orange zest...absolutely amazing. It comes complete with this brittle type of candy that comes on top. The presentation of everything was enough to put me over the edge. I'm sure I'll be coming back...with my dad. No way can I afford that tab on my own.

Steaks were over cooked after the waiter made a HUGE deal about explaining what the definition of "medium" & "rare" means. Plus, at 5:30 we waited over 30 minutes for the entrees when there was only one couple in the dining room & a handful of people in the bar ordering food.
Food is rather delicious however the service was definitely below par from our waitress. I already ordered my dessert at the beginning of the three course meal and after eating and waiting 30 minutes I finally got my dessert. I had to ask for it multiple times.
Dear Bing Crosby's,
Thank you for taking over the space once housed by Crocodile Cafe and giving Fashion Valley mall a respectable restaurant.
Frank Sinatra playing in the background, dark wood, leather, this place has class. I've particularly enjoyed it for happy hour, with craft beers for only a few dollars, nice wines and specialty drinks, and a great selection of gourmet appetizers and entrees. It's been so hard to find a central place to meet up after work, until now with Bing's.
I dropped my review for Bing Crosby's not on the basis of the food flavor, or ambience, but it was the service on the patio and the cleanliness of the drinking glasses. Sticky spotted (brown spots) on the water glasses, the iced tea I ordered had maybe 4 tiny ice cubes in it. They melted quickly, and the remedy was to drop off a cup of ice that I could use my fork, or knife, to fish out and drop into my iced tea. Not classy, not clean, NOT COOL!
I figured the patio would be nice to people watch from and enjoy some fresh air. 15 to 20 minutes would go by and NOT ONE server was around. ???? I hope Bing Crosby's steps up their game... I do still like the place, but I certainly will be checking my glass every time I order a drink... Just say no to brown spotted, sticky water glasses!

Went there for dinner and drinks and had a blast! Cool vibe in the lounge/bar. Relaxing and swanky.… Read more »
Great steak, great halibut, great service and atmosphere, not so great French Onion Soup.
I'm used to French Onion Soup being served in a small bowl, in a base of hearty beef stock with a crostini floating on top and a skin of bubbly, lightly browned melted cheese on top of that. What we received was a large, shallow soup bowl with a tiny crouton in the middle, and a few shreds of cheese. To make it worse, we weren't told it was veal broth, a meat that my wife and I avoid. It was flavorless and inedible, and we complained to the manager.
The manager was very apologetic, listened to our feedback with genuine interest, and managed to turn around the experience for us. We didn't really care about the cost of the soup (he took it off the bill), but the flavor, presentation, and the fact that it was veal were a big turn-off for us. His handling of the situation was exemplary.
The rest of the food was fantastic... my wife and I especially like the lobster mashed potatoes. Delicious!
For a place that probably does half its business on the disgruntled masses who aren't going to wait an hour for a seat at the Cheesecake Factory, Bing's goes beyond the call of duty to have its own identity.
Okay, that identity is kind of "cruise ship dining room on land," with the traditional American food to match, but that's where they pull off their second trick: The food is as good as people tell you cruise ship food is.
I had the fixed price three-course lunch, and it went the extra mile. Fresh food, well prepared. Best, the dessert was small but rich -- just enough to leave you satisfied, not ruptured. The lunch service was attentive and friendly.
Dinner looks to push the limit of what I'd pay for their food, but all things considered, it'd still be sight more attractive than the Cheesecake Factory.
Came here on a Thursday evening during their "happy hour" before seeing the movie "Away We Go" (which is a VERY funny film).
Very nice ambiance, and love the loungey feel!
We just wanted a drinkey-poo with some appetizers to loosen us up before the flick. We got a cocktail each - I got the Raz of course since that is my last name - and got a few appetizers: calamari (small portion), 6 oysters, and crab cakes (3 of them). The food was good, but I swear the drink me and my friend had were SO weak, we weren't feeling a THANG! God damn, say it ain't so?! So we had to follow it up with some tequila shots to get the job done right.
The only thing that was lackin', was the "happy" part of the happy hour; where is the deal here? For 5 gals getting 1 drink each (plus 2 shots for us alcheys), and 3 appetizers cost us a whopping $90 not including tip. WTF?! And I was still starving, but we didn't have time to get another appetizer 'cause the movie was about to start and the service was on the slow side; So I asked for a dinner roll, to feel the void.
They had a cool piano/mini stage setup, and if they did have some entertainment, it would've made the price more worth it.
But will give another whirl when I have cash to blow, just because i like the vibe. But I will stick to a shot, and wait for a night they have live entertainment.
Happy eatings,
T

Ok, so I went here with my mind made up I was going to hate it. Totally unfair, close-minded me; what's new?
Inner-dialogue: "Oh great, some phony-baloney piano bar that was built in a hot minute that is trying to ooze 'old school' rat pack nostalgia. What a sham." (In my head I usually sound like Holden Caulfield, but that's a whole other issue)
However, after going in and sitting down my negative nelly-ness soon abated as I looked over their cocktail list and lounge menu and realized everything looked pretty good. As I looked around the room I noticed we were the youngest people in the bar, and all of the old-timers were boozing it up and dancing and toe-tapping and having a gay old time.
Ok.....I'm starting to enjoy myself and I can tell I'm smiling involuntarily. Then our drinks came and they were great. Also got some of the bar apps and all of them were really tasty as well. The best part was not being aware it was happy hour, so when the bill came it was far cheaper than I had anticipated. The service was not very polished, and I experienced timing issues that other reviewers had previously mentioned, but I was sort of enjoying myself so much that it didn't bother me.
I guess my low expectations set me up for a really pleasant time at Bing Crosby's. It was a fun time, I loved the crowd, and when I find myself back at the mall I will stop in again.

I had the pleasure of dining with Bing Crosby's marketing guru so naturally, my dining experience here was fantastic. But even if I hadn't rolled with the VIP himself, I'm positive I still would have loved it.
Now I love me some Cheesecake Factory but it can get a little Chuck E. Cheese-ish at times, right? Bing's brings something special to SD. The ambiance is classy. Sultry even. I love the dim lighting and beautiful accents. Someone put a lot of thought into Bing's decor.
The food was delicious. We started with the calamari and shrimp appetizer and as someone who doesn't even like calamari or shrimp, it was excellent. I ordered the special - a fancy grilled chicken sandwich of sorts and it was delicious.
But seriously, the desserts sealed the deal for me. The coffee and donuts might be the best dessert ever. Take three small, fluffy donuts, beautifully plate them next to a coffee cup made of chocolate and filled with coffee ice cream and poof, yum on a plate!
Eat here!

I went here for dinner with my sister after a long day of shopping at Fashion Valley; we'd been wanting to come here since we first spotted it, but only made it there tonight. It was fantastic!
Ambience: Probably the best part of this place. There's live music every night, and the band tonight was wonderful. This is like the perfect little jazzy lounge you see in movies. There are some couples dancing between tables, and the band singer would make some casual conversation with the patrons. Even right next to the stage, we were still able to have some in-depth conversations; so it isn't too loud where the music is obtrusive or too much like a concert -- so you can have your live music while still eating and drinking and chatting with whoever you're with.
Drinks: Tasty!
Food: We had the lounge food, which was a burger (really sizeable -- for $11, you get a big angus beef burger and some homemade potato chips, a rather large meal) and the ahi tuna (smaller portion but still pretty substantial, and with a great presentation) -- both were delicious and pretty affordable for a dinner, if you don't want to splurge to get an entree. Dessert was great -- the "coffee and donuts" was a really cute chocolate cup with cappuccino-flavored ice cream, some sliced strawberries and sugared beignets.
Service: Friendly and nice, maybe a little slow but pretty relaxed.
Overall? Very cool place, definitely somewhere to get repeat visits, and pretty awesome all around.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would! The Happy Hour specials looked great, so instead of waiting for a table at Cheesecake, we decide to try this restaurant.
The service was worst than awful. We waited 10 mins before the hostess even greets us and this place wasn't even that busy! Then we have to wait another 10 mins before the hostess "flings" the menu on the table.
As others are served around us, the waitresses, the bartender and even the hostess pass by out table without even acknowledging us. After waiting for 15 mins, we decide that this place wasn't worth our time or money. Obviously they didn't want our business if they were going to completely ignore a party of 7.
Wait the 45 mins and eat at Cheesecake Factory, at least at Cheesecake, they acknowledge you as a human being!

Alright, so it's Friday night and the atmosphere of this place is amazing! You have a live jazz band performing and the restaurant is so elegant. I saw from a previous yelp they sell fedoras at the entrance and they do! Which I thought was pretty cool.
The food was pretty good. I was expecting a small size portion anyway. Haha. BUT! I only gave it 3 stars because of our server. I don't get it!? We had ordered some calamari and our plate wasn't even done and she asked to take it away. We said we were still working on it and she responded "Oh! still piggin' out!?". After leaving dirty plates stacked on our table, it was time to order dessert. We asked her what was good on the menu and she said the coffee and doughnuts were the best. She inisted to put our order in and said everything else was "whatever" but we haven't even seen the rest of the dessert menu yet! After all, we did decide on the coffee and doughnuts but still... I thought that was outrageous.
Honesty, I don't know if I would come back. I dread to have her as my server again. But! the atmosphere and the music won me over. So.. MAYBE!

My friend and I stopped here after a tiring mall venture. The huge silver doors seem uninviting at first glance; my friend even thought it was closed. But once you get inside, you get it- it's meant to be like a sassy VIP lounge. It oozes old Hollywood vibe- sleek booths, couches, chairs, piano lounge and a full bar, all with tea candles and retro photographs of performers who actually had talent- a dying breed today. i can't stress how much I loved the decor and vibe of the place. Just SO awesome. And yeah, I get that it's in a MALL, and its super bougie and all that, but I don't care.
We didn't have time to eat, we just wanted to check it out and have a post-shopping cocktail- which were INSANELY GOOD. It's unreal. Their cocktail June in January is the popular favorite, and its very obvious why. The only reason they got 4 stars is because that drink was 12 bucks!!! That's crazy, but it was sooo crazy good I couldn't care less.
Monday has wine specials, but they have happy hour from 3-7 daily.
Their menu looks drool worthy and if its half as good as their drinks measured up...Let's just say I'm really looking forward to having an actual meal here, and then I'll report back!

I TRIED THE MILK AND DECIDED TO TRY THE WHOLE COW....
I know that makes no sense but after the Yelp Event, (and the OH SO DELICIOUS stuffed mushrooms), I decided to have dinner at Bing Crosby! I have to tell you, it was REALLY good!
The whole atmosphere is chill. It's a cool jazzy vibe with sounds of a live band playing in the background. It may look fancy at first glance but don't let that intimidate you! You can totally sit in the restaurant in a t-shirt and jeans while enjoying your gourmet deliciousness!
My brother and I shared the $85 dinner for 2 which gave you a choice of soup or salad, an entree (which I had the New York Strip), and a dessert to share! Everything was so tasty!
Although it may be a bit pricey for some people, the atmosphere and the food alone is worth the trip to Bing Crosby's!

My wife and I went here for our anniversy dinner and we enjoyed ourselves. I must admit that I was hoping for a bit better from the food, but more on that latter. First off the service was amazing. The staff greeted us and everyone we had contact with greeted us with a happy anniversary, nice touch. Service was prompt and attentive, we never ran out of water or needed anything because the staff wasn't on top of things. The three stars comes in from the bad lounge act entertainment and the okay food. My wife had the stuffed salmon which was very good, I had the signature dish a filet with potatos cannolini. The cannolini was nothing more than a very salty potato chip, I was hoping for more. The filet was cooked perfectly however and i enjoyed it very much. My advice is to stay away from the signature dish unless you love salt. Way to salty for me.
My roommate had a theory.
The theory went as follows - the Crocodile Cafe http://www.yelp.com/bi... (what was previously in the Bing Crosby space) was only around for the people who could not bare to wait for the long waits at the ever-crowded-Cheesecake-Factory across the way.
The place blew.
Enter renovations aka Bing Crosby's!
YAYY!!!!!!!
Swanky, clean and lovely lounge music!
I'll take it!!!!
Great appetizers, good drinks/full bar.
Don't start w/your judgement sh*t either, "only hipsters go there, i'm such a rebel, blah, blah, blah". Awww..suck it.
It's a bit pricey but its worth it. The food is good and the ambiance makes up for the rest. Will return soon to check out the full lunch/dinner situation!

I have been here many times now, both weekend and weekday, mid day and dinner time, I have to say that I really like the food and ambiance at Bing Crosby's but cannot give them more than 3 stars because of the service. Something always goes wrong with our order. So the most recent experience:
- ordered half dozen oyster, but those didn't show up at all. Though the manager (I assume) came apologize and comped us for those
- ordered Waldrof salad with chicken, chicken didn't show up.
- ordered Fat Tire and New Castle was brought up
- mistake on the bill, took them twice to fix it.
besides the waitresses always seem to make mistakes, the food at Bings is great. The crab cakes come with chili oil and lemon aioli, both were good. Salads are good, very tasty oysters, and baked goat cheese and fresh whipped butter. =) ~~
the happy hour menu changes and is always a good deal.
I have been coming back, but only at times when I'm in a good mood, has a lot of time on hand, and don't mind orders get messed up.

review for music and drinks only.
cool jazz place. it's a little "theme park" like, the same way hard rock cafe is kind of a put off, but the live band was great. i would not compare it to jazz lounges back home in chicago, but then again i'm in SD where the music scene is just not the same. the middle area is like a small little jazz bar, if you could ignore the sprawling restaurant behind you. the david patrone band was playing, and heard some old standards that just made my night. :)
the place wasn't crowded on a weekend night, and waitress was polite and attentive, and apologized that she had to give us our check so she can go home.

Ambiance is great. Booths are huge and comfortable. Service is impeccable. Food looks gorgeous! So why 3 stars only? While the food looked nice, it didn't taste that great. Appetizers were bland - baked fresh goat cheese and some sort of meat on a stick. I ordered their signature dish and the grilled filet mignon was average tasting although the crispy potato cannellonis and green beans that came with it were not bad. For the price, I was really hoping for more. The real hero was dessert - chocolate souffle and "coffee and donuts" (beignets). Glad I tried it but I won't come back.
Had it not been for yelp, never in a million years would I have gone inside this place. I think the bad taste from its previous Crocodile something or other restaurant facilitated those reasons.
After seeing a yelp posting and reading further, I told my fiance we must stop in during the all day happy hour on Sunday to see what it's like. Today was the day, and I am pleased with the environment. The bar is large, and I am very fond of bars that have multiple seating types. This bar has three - tables and comfy chairs, high tops with matching chairs, and bar seating. You can also sit right up next to the stage where the piano/player is.
I peaked into the restaurant and it looks nice as well, with the cool high booths that I adore. The feel is very jazz, wide space, and appealing to the eye.
We were there mid day, so no live music to get the full vibe, but I was happy enough to go back again for the full experience.
Having said that, when it comes to a night that I want a date night with my man, a really large meal, and live jazz, it's hard to justify twice the price here, when the Red Fox Room is oh so close and oh so affordable for all of that (less the updated modern look/feel). Love them both, in a better economy, the frequency of both would be more even I am sure.
I never expected such awful service...We decided to go to Bing Crosby's for my cousin's baby shower get together. We were waiting outside and waiting for the rest of our party of seven to arrive, and saw the hostess at her desk. We get inside and she's not there. We wait at least 10 minutes until she comes out to acknowledge us. The lounge area looked like a fun place to hang out, there was live music going on and it was still happy hour so we decided to sit in there. After the 10 minute wait found out that the lounge area was open seating (how were we supposed to know that with no hostess to let us know). We sit down, wait five minutes to get menus. The servers and bartenders walk by, completely ignoring us. Not even a "be right with you..." We are pretty patient people, so we sat....and sat....and again, no acknowledgement, all the while seeing the other guests all around us being taken care of. After 20 minutes of waiting, we got up and left. That was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at any restaurant. My pregnant cousin was hungry, and I did not want to wait to speak to someone. We still wanted to try and enjoy the rest of our evening, so I called and spoke to the manager as we were going to another place to eat. Despite his efforts to rectify the situation, it was a little too late for that. You only get one chance to make a first impression and this experience definitely left a sour taste in our mouths. I will NEVER set foot in that place again.
**on another note, after this disaster we ended up going to Little Italy and eating at Burger Lounge...and we got the BEST service there. See my review!

I went for a late lunch (about 3:15) and was disappointed to learn that they were no longer serving lunch (their dinner menu doesn't have as many salads as the lunch menu does). The first thing that was bad about my experience was the fact that the place felt like a ghost town! There was no host/hostess up front so we were just standing around walking through the restaurant hoping someone would assist us. Finally I asked a bartender what the situation was and he said it was happy hour so we decided to sit in their comfortable lounge area with nice couches.
The food wasy alright...kind of greesy and nothing WOW. I didn't care for the service. It's really a shame becuase it's such a beautiful restaurant in a prime location.
We entered into a beautiful set of rooms, lush with dark woods, stepping back 50 years into another era. We settled into comfortable chairs at a table near the back. I ordered a Stags Leap Viognier with a tray of cheese and fruits. The staff was very attentive.
Pictures of Bing decorate the walls. We talked about the recent NPR story "Before There Was Vegas" that included Bing and his ranches near Elko, NV.
http://www.npr.org/tem...
My wife had a lunch salad and I enjoyed the salt & pepper calamari. It was a wonderful break from the rush rush of holiday shopping. Bing's is great. We will be back.

I'll have to update this in the future as I've only been to the Piano Bar/Lounge but, just by that, I was blown away.
Nice, new and shiny---with that new house smell, I was a goner from the moment I stepped in. Even in my jeans and fleece jacket, I felt like Miss Dilettante Frou Frou all grown up....who wouldn't, surrounded by rich mahogany (at least, it looked like mahogany), cushy chairs and a grand piano twinkling from a mini stage.
Fine, so, all I ordered was calamari and other tapas, but what in actuality was a quick snack break with my favorite shopping buddies, felt like an unexpected escape to glamorous Old Hollywood.
Can't wait until I actually have a full meal there!
Piano Bar/Lounge Tips:
1. Ok, order the "Donuts and Coffee (ice cream)" dessert. I mean it.
2. They sell fedoras! (Near the hostesses)
3. Enjoy the quiet clinking of glass, low-lighting and overall tranquil atmosphere. Lounge, indeed. (Disregard if it's a performance night)
The ambiance is classy and the service is great. It was fairly noisy in there when we went around 1pm or so. My mom ordered the crab cake appetizer but sent it back because she only likes them when they have big chunks of lump crab meat in them. These were more gooey inside. I didn't think they were bad, but she likes to eat crab in her cakes!
The server was very accommodating and brought us fried calamari and shrimp instead. There was a tasty sauce for the calamari (aioli?) and cocktail sauce for the shrimp (I would have preferred all cal and no shrimp).
She had the open faced chicken salad as an entrée which was good but not special. I had the spinach salad which was pretty good.
We were lured in with a card for a free appetizer... ask the host(ess) for one if you go.

Service, food and ambience were all very nice. My rating would have been four stars but for the short-poured, expensive cocktails.
Whaddaya say, Joe? How about that recent stock market crash, and them Brooklyn Dodgers? Where's the hooch? These are all questions Bing Crosby's restaurant has for you. Bring answers and money.
The faux-deco 1930s Vegas/Hollywood aesthetic is a bit put-on, resulting in an EPCOT-type theme restaurant feel. "LOOK AT US WE ARE HIP" the shelf of for-sale fedoras by the host stand seems to say. I find this depressing, which is why the two stars. That said, the mood lighting and Billie Holiday soundtrack make it the perfect place to hunch over the bar, nurse an Old Fashioned and mull over Fashion Valley-type problems, like your poorly-performing 401(k), leaking breast implant, and impending lawsuits.
Service was slow; I suspect our server forgot to put our order in or the kitchen lost it. Which is forgivable. Management must be on the servers' asses to hawk the upsells, because ours was rather pushy about wine, appetizers, desserts, and Bailey's after dinner (my response: "dude, it's 6:00." Yes, I was dining with my mother, who likes to eat before Cash Cab.)
The shrimp scampi was disappointing. The sauce was too salty and it was covered with big sliced olives that overpowered the dish. I've never seen olives in shrimp scampi. Probably because they taste awful together. The portion size-price-quality ratios were all screwy.
The piano is beautiful if you're into that sort of thing (which I am.) The place is spotlessly clean, including the bathrooms, and I can imagine it's a great place to meet attractive people who make more money than you do after work. I didn't get to hear any live music, but I'm sure that's nice too. Come for the drinks, music, and artificial atmosphere, but eat elsewhere.

A friend and I planned a night of shopping, but decided to head here for some wine and cheese to kick off the night. It was a Tuesday so, we immediately sat down outside, ordered a bottle of wine and the cheese platter. They must have been slaving over that cheese in the kitchen because we finished the bottle of wine and still no cheese platter. No apology or mention of what the problem was. When we finally asked to speak to the manager, some make-shift bartender/manager walked up. He acted annoyed and as if we were wasting his time. My friend tried to explain that she didn't want to complain, but that we were disappointed with the lack of service. This guy just stared at her the entire time she was speaking and then pretty much said we were liars and that there was no way to the cheese took over an hour to come out.
After calling him out on his attitude and asking if he was calling us liars, he shuffled around, then reluctantly agreed to comp the cheese. I've never been so offended by someone in a restaurant. I felt like walking out but would never do that to our waitress. The funny thing is, my friend & her family own a successful restaurant in town and and we have numerous friends and family members in the restaurant world. It just goes to show that you create a beautiful space and menu, but that does not guarantee great service or class, something that Bing Crosby's upper management is completely lacking in.
I will NEVER walk into that restaurant again.

Well it is kind of different type of restaurant. It caters to most people who have a good taste for jazz night life.
Food is good but it is not worth it in my opinion, wine list is good. service is poor don't expect to have them pour your wine or take oreder right away.
They should improve their service!

I had a really lovely time here last night. This place was gorgeous and felt luxurious. I'm a sucker for vintage anything, so I loved all the decor.
The martinis were *perfect*. Excellent! And the Cosmo was one of the best I've ever had. And don't even get me started on the blue cheese stuffed olives.
We did order the hummus appetizer and it was tasty, though not very substantial. I'd love to try some of their other food and perhaps have dinner there, so I can bump them up a star!
Looking forward to going back soon. Soon!

Bing Crosby's Restaurant and Piano Lounge was the place for lunch today.
Ohhhhh I love going to this place it is one of my favorite bar/lounge close by.
It was a wonderful day to get out from a hectic workweek and just enjoy a nice lunch with a friend.
We were greeted with a nice smile at the front entrance and let them know I had a reservation at 1130.
Place is awesome, atmosphere is relaxing, the table was perfect: corner booth, cozy and comfy.
Our server Bryan mentioned the lunch special for today - Soup and Salad, seafood mix and a dessert for $20. I was not into their lunch special so I decided to choose from their lunch menu and a bottle of Calina Chile Chardonnay.
2 stars = Roasted Herb Basted Chicken plus wine - excellent. It was cooked and roasted perfect, very tasty with potatoes and asparagus.
2 stars = Open-faced Focaccia Chicken Salad Sandwich plus wine - excellent. Served in four pieces triangular toasted focaccia bread with delicious mix of chicken, grapes, walnuts and herbs.
1 star = the service; very attentive and courteous (Bryan).
The wine was perfect smooth on the palate with a light oak flavor; crisp with proper acidity and balance. It was a good pick!
A nice place to bring families, met your friends, have a date or just relax for an early-evening drink at the bar and listen to the live band playing.
We enjoyed our lunch! loved it.

I'm going to have to come back here a couple more times to see if it deserves a bump up to 4 stars, mainly to see how the Piano Bar part of the restaurant is or to decide whether the price for the food is worth it.
But for our first visit, the price of the food is not worth it. I know that we Americans don't understand that portions are completely exagerrated in our society of indulgence and all. But I simply don't understand how a signature entree dish can come only with 8 string beans??? Don't get me wrong, the food tasted wonderful and service was good. We should have gotten extra sides but I can't justify $20 for lobster mashed potatoes as a side. $20 for a side (even if you're sharing with someone else) is just too much in my head.
The atmosphere was wonderful, decor was great and everything meshed well. Service was prompt and attentive but the server still didn't seem to know much about the food or wine.
I'll come back here for drinks and appetizers at the Piano Bar during happy hour. But for a good steak dinner, I'd rather go to Ruth's Chris or even The Butcher Shop first.

I'm in love with the early days of music, when artists knew how to sing and actually wrote original songs. As I was walking through Fashion valley one day I saw this place and I knew that I had to try it.
Bing Crosby's has a dark and moody atmosphere, that makes you feel imeediately cozy and elite. I sat at the bar with a friend wand got into a great conversation with the bartender. (The way bartenders used to be!) This place has history and some of the photos hanging in the restaruant are actually from Crosby's house!
As for the food, a little pricey and can take some time, but ultimately worth the wait. I ordered the Calimari and "Road to Morocco." Both really good and plenty to share between two.
Overall this place was enjoyable, friendly, and one I'll be stopping back at soon.

needed a place to take mom for mother's day, and Bing Crosby's was an awesome decision. i've noticed a lot of previous yelps have commented on the service- well they've definitely cleared up this issue because the service today was on point. the courses were spaced perfectly, our water and champagne glasses were never empty, and we were never in need of anything. the service was very formal, waiters and bussers in tuxedos, silverware presented on a platter, meals served from the left side of the guest. it was all PERFECT! the music and the decor were very theme oriented, and mom enjoyed the whole thing. unfortunately the live piano didn't start until we were about ready to leave. i would imagine it would be a fun place to hang out at night and have some drinks and watch some good live music. now for the food details-
we began with the ahi trio (see pictures)- ahi wrapped in seaweed on avocado, ahi (a huge chunk) served on top of watermelon, and ahi tartare with caviar and chive. all three were great, but i think the ahi with avocado was my favorite, the creaminess of avocado melting in your mouth with the ahi is like the most deliciously flavored butter you could ever imagine. the other two offerings were great as well, i never would have guessed ahi and watermelon would taste so good together. and tartare, how can you go wrong?
we both opted for the salad, which started with your basic spring greens in a very light oil dressing, and topped with dried yak cheese (yes, YAK cheese). they served it with a crostini topped half and half with sun dried tomato, and kalamata olive tapenade. i could have eaten a dozen of those crostinis they were so good!
for the main courses, mom had veal scallopini with pollenta, baby vegetables, and fire roasted tomatoes. i had some of the veal (not being a big fan of capers), and it was great! the caper flavoring was very mild and the flavor of the meat came through, and paired with a very creamy and buttery pollenta which worked perfectly together.
i had the cornmeal crusted halibut, which was cooked perfectly. it was crispy on the outside, and flaky and moist all the way through. it was served with a balsamic reduction and some of the largest gnocchi i've ever seen in my life which were great.
i would have loved dessert, but mom had already tapped out. i had to help her with some of her veal and even then there was some left over. hopefully next time we'll get to try something from their dessert menu.

Great happy hour specials! Live music starts at 6pm great entertainment...we were here on a Sunday and there were several couples showing off their ballroom skills - it was pretty entertaining! The appetizers we ordered were pretty good- oysters, calamari, ahi tuna, and shrimp cocktail. Good selection on house cocktails, service was okay, but overall definitely a fun place to hang out!
