Oh, my beef double-decker tacos. How I love thee.

Everything is kinda "meh", but man. The taste and value of these bad boys during the $5.50 lunch special is the jam.

Also, really great wait staff and bar tenders. I've "heard" some horror stories, but I've honestly never experienced anything of the sort.

Also, guessing all the single-star reviewers are expecting some sort of amazing and unique mexican food experience. This is a bar that serves bar food. Stop pretending it's not. It's great when you finally figure that out.

Worst Mexican food in the city.

    Seriously.

Lard and disgusting food that I couldn't eat.   I know that the FDA allows all kinds of disgusting foods to hit the shelves, and that meat gets "sanitized" with ammonia and other toxic chemicals before it turns into the slop these guys use as raw materials.  We know that grass fed natural beef is something that not everybody eats.  The idea of taking something disgusting and making it far worse by adding lard and tons of disgusting nutrition-less ultra-pasteurized cheeses and tons of grease is appaling.

I think what may be even worse than the toxic waste that they attempt to disguise as food is the attitude coming from the servers here as well.   If you like being treated like crap and served by folks with their noses high in the air because they are tragically way too cool for the likes of you, Bimbos and ChaCha (the bar next door) are your places to visit.

There's something seriously wrong with Capitol Hill.  It's ChaCha and Bimbos.  I remember when I was younger, they used to speak about "The Aroma From Tacoma" from the pulp mill that would waft up here and clog your nostrils from the stink.  Now, I believe that Bimbos and ChaCha have eclipsed Tacoma with the pure stench of their personality and food.

My girlfriend and I had without question the worst restaurant/bar experience of our lives at this place over the weekend.  I don't even know where to begin.

I've been to the attached bar called Chacha drinking with friends a few times in the past, but had never tried Bimbos.  I had heard they had some decent mexican-ish food so my girlfriend and I stopped by to grab a bite.

From the moment we sat down we felt like we had just entered a clubhouse we weren't invited to.  The woman who was supposed to be serving us seemingly ignored us for 25 minutes.  Granted it was somewhat busy, but she certainly saw us.  A few of her friends were there and she kept chatting them up... all the while shooting us glances as we uncomfortably tried to get her attention.

After close to a half hour she finally asked if we wanted any drinks.   We told her our drink order and she immediately walked off before I could even get a chance to ask about the food menu... I wasn't sure if it was going to be another half hour until we had a chance to place our food order so I kind of shouted "wait!" as she was fleeing to fill our drink order.   Bad move, I guess... she turned around looking more than a little peeved that I had interrupted her.  I asked if we could place a food order before she left... she slapped a menu in front of me and I quickly ordered a couple tacos.   She suggested we upgrade to "double decker" tacos (which apparently are held together by beans... which my girlfriend isn't a fan of)...  We declined the upgrade.  The waitress looked at us like we were fools... "It's free"...   My girlfriend responded with a joke about counting her calories... the waitress countered with some snarky comment about "you could use a little extra weight" (in retrospect this might have been a compliment, but my girlfriend has struggled with anorexia and didn't appreciate it)... We again declined and once again the waitress stormed off looking agitated.  Honestly considered leaving at this point.

About 10 minutes go by and we still haven't received our drinks.  Waitress is back to chatting with her friends.  I flag her down and she literally rolled her eyes made a hand gesture as if to say  "yeah, yeah simmer down... one second"...  I reminder her about our margaritas... she huffs off, and brings them a few minutes later.

Finish our drinks... wait...  wait... wait... no food.  Wait some more... wait...  Consider flagging down the waitress again, but think better of it.   Luckily after close to an hour our tacos come out...

Double decker tacos.   Wait, what?! ...  Honestly wouldn't have been a big deal, but my girlfriend has a serious problem with beans and she's pretty angry at this point... so she starts giving the waitress a little attitude back and complains about the double decker tacos.  The waitress looks at my girlfriend like she's utterly insane.  Says something to the extent of "it's free... why are you complaining?" (meaning the "double decker"  upgrade) ... It isn't what we ordered!  ... I somewhat intervene and say it's no big deal... we can just peel off the "double decker" layer and the beans, but I obviously understood my girlfriend's frustration.   Waitress responds with "good idea" and begins to walk off...  I stop her once again and order our last couple drinks and ask to close out our bill (which to her credit she promptly retrieved for us... though clearly begrudgingly)...

Never once did she offer an apology.  Never once did she offer to waive part of the bill for the mistake.  In fact, she actually overcharged us by putting the wrong drinks on our bill... I didn't have the strength to really fight her on it (and didn't want to wait another hour to get it resolved).  Horrible service.  Horrible Experience.  It was almost like "you idiots should be lucky I even served you at all"...

1 Star.   However, If 10 dollar margaritas, free (mandatory) double decker upgrades and dehumanizing service are your thing... Go for it!

The food was ok and the staff was typical of the area, as if they get tips no matter how bad the service is. This is definitely a popular place, it's always busy! It's a Seattle hot spot and despite the fact that I'm a born and raised Seattlite it's not for me.

My girlfriend and I recently visited Bimbo's because we had a $10 coupon. We ordered sangria, an organic burrito and  1/2 nachos; the food items were delicious and the sangria was an awesome atomic purple color.

The customer service, however, was terrible! Ugh. Apparently the bartender doesn't like to wait on people without tattoos; we received dirty looks and little attention the whole time we were there.

And what the hell is up with restaurants/bars that think it is ok to have one bartender serving both the bar and all the tables on a busy weekend?

I doubt I'll be going back and I can't really recommend this place to my tattoo-less friends.

All i have to say is that last night I had a pretty bad experience at Bimbos and it will discourage me from going in the future. I've lived on the Hill for five years now and although I will no longer step foot in the Cha Cha Lounge, I loved going to Bimbos for tacos and drinks until a friend and I waited 20 minutes for both the bar tender and waitress to acknowledge our presence (they would look us in the eye, but not come over to take our order or budge in any way, and instead go to the front door and stand there like an idiot looking outside, and there were only 3 other tables being occupied at the time) until we just got up and left. As we left the waitress (get over yourself, you work at the cha cha) looked at us and said nothing.

This follows a previous experience when the bimbos bartender was seriously fucked up drunk or on drugs and took him half an hour to slam down two cans of Ranier on the bar.

You want decent mexican food and drinks to hold you down? Bimbos is cool for that. But do not expect any type of decent service.

Fun area to play, with an interesting crowd. Loud, funky, punky. Food that will do in a pinch (perfect if you've already been drinking). Drinks that will make you not care about the food. S'alright in my books for a wild Friday night.

    Solid three stars.

The bucket o chips and salsa really didn't do it for me, but at HH, it's only a buck. The chips were just too thick and from a bag, although I appreciate that they were heated. The salsa was too small of a portion for all the chips, but it was also very garlicky so I didn't need much more.

I did love my strawberry margarita though. The strawberry was from one of those granita machines and it came with a fancy cherry-lime-pineapple garnish.

I can't imagine going back for Seattle Mexican food, but I will definitely be back for more margaritas.

Congrats to Bimbo's for serving what might possibly be the worst meal I have ever had! My friend took 2 bites of her torta and wanted to cry. At least they only charge $1 for the chips from cash n carry. No amount of margaritas will make this food edible.

So Bimbo's was a pit stop on our walk around Seattle.
Mainly cause I had to go use the restroom.
It caught my eye because of the luchadore masks in the window.

So went in, got a drink, used the restroom. AWESOME restroom by the way.
Its a small place, but everyone's super nice.
The atmosphere was so relaxed, the music was fun and  couldn't help but linger there longer.
Just a beer and bathroom break turned into 4 beers and lots of chips and guacamole.  So tasty.
There was something on the beer menu that was pretty good. I think it was a porter. But good beer, and the food looked and smelled awesome. Didnt get a chance to eat here because we were having dinner elsewhere.

I'd walked by Bimbo's a number of times and always admired the 'no's list on the door but never ventured in.  A group of us came here post-Death Race and took over one corner of the cantina.  Our server did a reasonably admirable job considering that we were a big group of a dozen or so, and there were several other tables.  She seemed to be holding down the fort on her own, because I never saw anyone else pitch in.  And she was great about cashing everyone's order out individually as we left, so a bonus star for that.

My margarita was strong, but tasty and the 'down home' burrito was surprisingly good.  I always am a bit concerned about eating in places where the focus is (rightly) on the booze, but I thought the burrito was quite good, if bland.  Happily, there were a number of hot sauces available on the tables to remedy the bland-ness.  I also thought the sangria was pretty good, although being my first time tasting sangria, I'm hardly an expert.

All in all, a decent place to pay a visit if you're in the mood for some Mexican and/or stiff drinks.  All day happy hour on Sunday (and Monday, I think?) was a nice bonus.

This place is pretty cool. I hung out there yesterday and had some drinks and chow with  friends.

I had the chicken tacos w/cabbage which were pretty freakin awesome. I would say that the Mexican rice was a little dry, but i can over look that.
My friends had the nachos which were good. Spicy but tasty. They had a decent happy hour but one of the best things about this spot was the random 80's new wave music. It took me back to my youth...haha .That was a nice surprise and they also have a nice size room downstairs.

I would recommend this joint to friends....and you :~)

I have fond memories of the old smoky Cha Cha that used to exist a bit further down the hill. It is now the site of the "Cha Cha Memorial Parking Lot." Anyway, this place is really two places I think... Bimbos upstairs and Cha Cha downstairs. Upstairs is where the food is, and downstairs is where most of the heavy drinking and poor decision-making takes place. My brother and another relative were visiting from NYC. We witnessed a fight between two skinny hipsters (over a moderately cute girl) and somehow both of them managed to lose that fight. It's REALLY LOUD THERE. It gets very crowded on weekend nights. The burritos are pretty tasty. Sorry this review isn't more helpful.

This could possibly be the best restaurant name of all time. The minute I heard it years ago I knew I would eventually come to try this Seattle institution.

By location I knew the crowd would be a little different. Lot's of tattoos, LOTS, piercings and openly gay people. I don't have a problem with it, but some people might, so if it's not your bag, steer clear. That said the staff was extremely nice. Could have possible been the best service I have seen in a long time.

The menu was simple. A few burritos & taco's, nacho's, quesadillas and side items. We started with chips and salsa. The chips were store bought and even though the salsa was homemade it was just average. After a few bites, we pushed back in lieu of the bitchin burritos en route.

I have to admit that the burrito was pretty bitchin, but it did come up short in a couple ways. I didn't read anywhere that the beans were black. I assumed pinto since it only said whole beans. I was also excited about the name, "Inferno" and the fact that the wrap had jalapeños. Unfortunately this "Inferno" should have been called the Peter Piper, because these peppers were pickled and most likely from a can.

I think the menu could have been more descript and I definitely would have skipped the peppers. Even with the disappointment the burrito was still a "B". That said I know too many places that serve a solid "A", so I don't see going back, but if you want a unique cantina experience. Check out Bimbo's.

I loved Bimbos' when it was in it's old location... dingy dirty and amazing... the bathroom was painted all in neon with black lights, there was stuff under the glass on the tables and all sorts of pretty lights on the walls. The new bimbos is cool but no where near as cool as the first one, but it will do.

On the other hand the food is still pretty much as awesome as it always was which was always good, always reliably good and and always fast. The burritos are gi-freaking-normous and really good. Nom nom nom...

Sunday is a good day for marg'ing, and Bimbo's is a good place to do it. The grande margarita is a giant mason jar of all the good shit you need and a couple of those puts me in a rosy frame of mind. Like, fill me up with those if you want to ask me a big favor, 'cause I'll be way too pleased to say no. Corinna, can you chauffeur me to Eugene tomorrow? Sure! Corinna, will you help me turn these moose antlers into a chair? Of course! Corinna, will you help me bury this..um...rolled up rug? Absolutely. Such is the power of the grande.

There are many things about Bimbo's that are awesome, including the Shelves o' Hot Sauce, fun decor from floor to ceiling, Happy Hour discounts on food and drinks, good tunes, and it's quick.

But, turns out, the food isn't very good.  Fast, yes.  Quality, no.  And it really burns me up when I get crappy food.

Despite that, it's an a-ok place for pre-Cha Cha'ing downstairs, when you've got to get some tortilla-enveloped sustenance in yer belly pre-boozin'.  And you can do it on the cheap.  Bonus points for a bucket of mini Pacificos on the HH menu.  Not that I'm super into Pacifico, but I'm a sucker for a tiny version of just about anything.  I regularly buy the tiny Tabascos from Cost Plus, when I know those two-drop bottles cost 20 times more per ounce than just buying regular sized.

Service was basically non-existent excepting the order-taking and dropping off the check way before we were done, which led to a WTF? moment when we realized they'd tacked on 18% auto-grat for a party of five.  Really?  FIVE?  Sorry, auto-gratuity should start at six, unless for some reason it's really necessary and should be pointed out on the menu.  Oh, yeah and it's a BURRITO place, not some fancy pants restaurant where that kind of thing is more expected.  Not sure if they do that so they don't have to give good service and don't care or what.  Even with the crappy service, we probably still would have tipped 25%, because that's how we roll.  But the auto-grat combined with the 'tude led us to only leave the 18% they'd added, 'cause it rubbed us the wrong way.

Oh, well.  It was still fun, and I'd go again for drinks, but not my first choice for a meal in the area.  I do love saying "Bimbo", though.  Almost as much as I like saying "hussy".

I'm in the middle on Bimbo's. I've had great service and not so great service. Since I'm not a regular I understand I won't get fantastic service every time, but there has been a few times where I've waited for over 10 to 15 minutes to even get service. I have had great experiences though. I love the drinks (reasonably priced in my opinion), same with the food. The food is pretty good for Americanized Mexican food. Bimbo's isn't traditional Mexican food and people seem to forget this.

My one wish is the service would be more consistent. I feel this is the one let down here. Also not a super major point but if the booths would have more room that would be great. One member in my group isn't on the super skinny side and could not sit in the booth due to lack of room. This can be a problem for some.

Lastly, this isn't a complaint about Bimbo's (not reflected in my rating, just a general comment) but all Capitol Hill restaurants in general. It would be great to have cold water served at a table instead of really warm water that feels like it has sat out for days. I don't know why the water has to be constantly warm.

Love the decor! It's so fun! My favorite is the sign near the front door.... right on!!!!

We did a little day drinking there on Saturday afternoon. We were out bumming and I needed a drink and snack.

It was LOUD....OMG so loud.... it took a minute to get used to. I was a little cranky that I had to say "huh" to the bartender 3 time before I got she was asking to see my ID. But whatevs....

First I tried the Sangria Margarita - it was definitely different. It wasn't good, but wasn't bad. It was OK... so I switched to the house after that. Pretty good, but after a total of 3 drinks my stomach was starting to hurt. I wasn't shocked as a.) I knew it was well and b.) sour mix does that to me anyways.

We ordered a small beans & guac nacho and a pork quesadilla. Both were tasty, and I felt it was a lot of food.

I loved the vibe, and will definitely be back!

    When: About 4 weeks ago

Food: My wife and I walked by this for the first 2 months we lived in Seattle.  Finally we decided to go in.  We both had burritos (mine dry, hers wet) and they were extremely average.  Not a heck of a lot of flavor.

Service:  We walked in on a Saturday at lunch time and were pretty much ignored.  The bartender was surrounded by people at the bar (not sure if patrons or staff).  Having never been there we just took a seat and eventually were brought menus.  Just seemed a bit odd in the moment.  After that, service was okay - nothing special.

    Ambience - average

    Will try to find better.

It pains me to bump Bimbo's out of my 5 star club as I've been going there at least two times per week for the last year and a half.  I'll just say it, I miss the Sunday/Monday server Shane.  He was a stellar server and I loved the bit Uhura and I had going with him.  He knew how to make this lady a happy woman.

Lately service was been generally absent.  Last night we were ignored for a solid 15 minutes or so and only ended up getting a server because Chris tried to order at the bar and the bartender sent a server our way.  When I asked if the potato taco had cheese the server said no.  Taco comes and low and behold there was cheese in it.  Normally I would've asked for a replacement, but it had been so hard to get her attention for the duration of our outing that I just decided to just make a mental note.  Perfect streak of maintaining vegan diet blemished, but that's on me.

Anyway, please for the love of all that's margaritay Shane, please come back and make Bimbo's the bitching place I used to love again!

The service is indeed terrible.  The food, soggy.  The drinks - well, you can get them with better food and better service elsewhere.

After coming here almost every Sunday Funday with my partners in crime I think I'm ready to write up a review of this cool awesome rad dark place.

First of all the music always rocks here :) I'm a big fun !!! the place itself is not your conventional bar,it has sombreros and Mexican wrestling masks how cool is that? Sundays and Mondays happy hour all day :)

I like this place because everybody is so chill, although sometimes Im dressing a little more than the rest they accept me haha

    Margarita time at Bimbo's!!!

I enjoy their happy hour margaritas or sharing a pitcher (of beer) with some friends. Good times!

The servers have been friendly enough, but nothing has really stood out when it comes to service.

Hungry for tacos? They've got 'em on special during happy hour! I wasn't a big fan of the fish tacos and I found the potato taco texture to be very strange because I expect taco fillings to not be so... mashed... but, they were both filling. They just kind of made me wish I wasn't trying to limit my meat consumption to just the times when I really crave it or when it's a special treat (ie: to-die-for steak, raw venison poke, etc). Their meat tacos are probably tasty... but not my idea of a special treat.

The photo booth downstairs is... something else. The photos take way long to print and the booth was full of what I think were FRUIT FLIES.... but, we got at least a couple of good photos before getting the hell out of that booth!

I think next time I'll skip the food, and go straight for the booze!

What a fun bar this is! Don't be deceived however! Just because you see a bouncer at the door and not one person in the bar upstairs, wait until you get DOWNSTAIRS! That's where the party is!!

Fun vibe, great music, cool people! Huge fan!

If I had a dollar for every time I said " I am so happy ",  " This is just what I wanted ", " Holy shit this is good " while I was sitting down to dinner here it would've paid for my meal.

I ordered just a plain burrito, and a sangria. I love that the tortilla was grilled, I have had way to many burritos fall apart of me lately. The crunchiness and warmth was an added bonus. My dinning associate ordered a double decker taco, a taco wrapped in a soft tortilla secured lovingly together with beans. The waitress confessed to us that it was an item stolen from the Taco Bell  menu, one I remember fondly might I add. I stole a bite and was pleased to see that bimbos has taken it to the next level. Despite obvious popularity of the joint, our food was zipped out to us. Our waitress admitted to forgetting about our table post food so our service was a miss, but I appreciate the honesty.

Bimbo's is a cool little spot! I love stopping by there with friends to grab some food, drinks, or some awesome Sangria! Their burritos are amazing, tasty, and a great size! I am a huge sauce fiend, especially hot sauce, which they definitely do not lack. They have a whole two shelves for you to choose some sauce! That's pretty awesome-sauce-tastic if you ask me.

They have good drink specials on happy hour, great margaritas, and awesome sangria! The atmosphere is also really fun! Worth checking this place out! Also, if you come later and want to keep the party going, the ChaCha is downstairs. Fun spot!
