So, I finally gave in and tried Billy Miner's ... and I am sooo glad I did! The location is in downtown Fort Worth located on a corner. The interior is okay (definitely has been there for a while), but it isn't dirty or nasty! The process is: place order at counter in back of restaurant, they will call your name when orders is ready, you pick it up and dress your burger how you want!
The burgers are great! I had the 6oz Billy burger with fries. All their fries are the wedge cut (which I am not a fan of), however, they were soooo good! The outside of the fries are crispy and the inside is cooked to perfection! DELICIOUS! I smothered mine with cheese from the relish bar!
Yes, I said RELISH bar! All burgers come dry and you get to decorate them how you want. The have all the fix-ins located in this relish bar including sliced and diced onions, jalapenos, lettuce, tomatoes. pickles, all the condiments, and melted cheese - just to name a few!
Overall, It was delicious! They also have a full bar and TVs to cover the sports games!
I recommend and definitely will return!
Ah so this is where that peanut shell thing started! Stopped by here last weekend and agree with all the other comments that the burger was nice, good greasy style right in downtown Fort Worth, perfect for foot traffic shopping hunger. But the peanuts missing is a shame. A giant chain called Roadhouse started doing that in West Houston years back and I've always heard the rumor that it started here. Too bad it's over here, but as said the burgers are great. Nice atmosphere.
Billy Miner's is awesome for cheap, greasy-spoon food and a really cold beer (or two, or three). You order your food in the back and pick it up when they call your name and you can order your drinks at the bar.
This place is super laid-back and casual, a fun place to meet friends for a drink and you can always count on the sporting event du jour to be playing in the background.
A wonderfully greasy burger right in the heart of down town Fort Worth. Billy Miners is definitely an oldey and a goody.
Back in the day they had bowls of peanuts on the tables that you could munch on while you had your drink and waited on your food...all while throwing the shells on the ground. It was great...but from what I was told (don't know how much truth is in it...could just be hear-say and they were just tired of cleaning up all that mess) someone fell and Billy Miner's got sued so they stopped with the peanuts b/c the shells made the floor slippery. I don't don't know...but what I do know is I miss that part of it. But, the food it good and the ambiance is fun! Nice part of downtown cow-town!! Yee-haw!!! :-)
