Over the last 6 weeks, I have been on a few dates with a Bikram Studio in Alexandria, VA. But since I travel throughout the month around MD and VA, I've been getting the itch to have a few one night stands with studios in other cities. This is how I found Bikram Yoga Richmond.
The Cox Rd. location is very convenient; strategically located near my hotel and numerous restaurants - after a good body workout, who doesn't have the munchies?? The yoga studio is a little smaller than what I am used to, but big enough to achieve the end result; accommodating the group in attendance. Perhaps this is why the room felt so much hotter than what I'm used to feeling. Either that or I was not properly hydrated. Maybe a combination of both.
So....smaller studio, and my first time with a woman. Hearing a softer spoken female voice when you're used to a more commanding male voice can throw you off initially, but it wasn't hard to get used to after we got into a few poses. The dialog spoken was shared between both studios, almost verbatim, in many instances. The familiar verbiage, despite having a different tone of voice, brought immediate comfort and I felt more of a connection to this strange, new studio.
All in all, a very positive experience - I will certainly return for round two, and be open to try new studios with other female instructors.

When I am in Richmond I head up to the West-side and get 90 minutes of my practice at this new Bikram Studio. Located in the beautiful West-side of Richmond this place caters to the local middle class workers in the area.
Great layout. The changing rooms are great and they are building there practice quickly. I like the location, in a new strip mall with plenty of parking. When you go to Richmond stop in, you will not be disappointed.
