Went here our first night in Chattanooga.  The service was a bit slow overall, but we were seated immediately and had beverages in a short amount of time.

I had the NY Strip and Shrip Tempura both of which were good. I'm going to write home about it, but decent.  I had a Sweet Magnolia Brown Ale, their local label, and it was okay.  The southwestern egg rolls that we started the meal with were probably the best part of the meal.  They tasted fresh as if they were made there and not shipped in a frozen bag.

I'd probably return to eat here again at some point.

Had a late lunch here the other day was surprised at how utterly inattentive and slow this restaurant is for a. being in the tourist district and b. being the main brewpub in the 'Noog. It took two of us nearly an hour and fifteen minutes to get our food despite having a full kitchen and a waiter who was only juggling 2 other tables ( it was definitely post- lunch rush). If our server wasn't stoned, he was sure playing the part. He evened tried to comp us a salad but then never brought it!  At least he didn't try charging us for it.
Tried two beers, the maibock (seasonal) and the IPA. Both drinkable but nothing special. Maybe a 2 on a scale of 5, lackluster for sure, with standard $4+ pricing for a brewpub. The burger that caused the hour-wait was average, with cold extra salty fries on the side. ( maybe they had to kill the cow in Georgia and bring it over the river...) Fish tacos were better, but similar to what an applebee's or Chili's might come up with. There are better food options in Chattanooga. Also, be aware that the patio attracts lots of smokers, if that bothers you, the better bet is to dine in the cavernous dining room.
Will not be going back to this joint, the search for a good brewpub continues.

In town for a few days Spring Break trip with my daughter and this was close to the hotel.

The food was excellent. I had the Hummus, Goat Cheese and Roasted pepper salad followed by Fish Tacos and my daughter had Ribs. My beers were very nice and she awards the Shirley Temple (Virgin of course) an A+++.

I found the service to be a pleasant compromise of casual but efficient which is just what I like, but then you could throw a Hummus and Goat Cheese salad at me and I would still be back :-)

Very enjoyable dinner.

My family had dinner here when in Chattanooga for a swim meet. During this same weekend there was a cheerleaders competition in town. Chattanooga is a tourist city and restaurants here should be well suited in dealing with large crowds. This one is not. seating was slow and seemed rather unorganized. Several of the staff members were rude in how they dealt with the most simple requests. They came across like they did not want to be bothered. This could be the result of Chattanooga being a tourist city and the dining establishments here do not need to count on repeat business.
But, not all was bed. Our server Matthew was professional, knowledgable and did an outstanding job for us. The food was a good value for the price and came from the kitchen promptly and was well presented but a bit too spicey on some of the dishes.
Could have been a lot better.

Late night dinner review.   We were on the road, and had just hit Chattanooga, we found out this was one of our few late night options.

We tried the Hawaiian Chicken, a wedge salad (that retro salad with iceburg lettuce, blue cheese and bacon), and Kobe beef sliders.   The food was good - solid and well prepared.  The Hawaiian chicken came with fresh grilled pineapple and green beans that were not overcooked.. a remarkable feat for a 10PM Sunday night dinner.

Nearly forgot, the Key Lime Cheesecake has a topping that tasted like real Key Lime.    Aha, they passed the test!  We order Key Lime items, always hoping "they got it right" and they usualy dissapoint... but the topping on this cheesecake was the real-deal.

Inside is large.  Creative acoustics ensure that you can still hold a conversation and enjoy the music.

Service was relatively quick, our server seemed a littled rattled by the large number of guests.  (Lots of Hurricane Gustav refugees were rolling into town.)  In the end he pulled it off...

Four stars for serving solid food late at night.

This is part of a chain operated by Gordon Biersch Brewery.

Best brewery restaurant in the area! Good variety on the menu from high quality pub grub to fish tacos and my favorite, shrimp and grits. The beers are good not great but the sampler is a good value and will let you try them all. Live music occasionally and an atmosphere fit for families and bar crawlers alike. Great location downtown across the street from the Aquarium and walking distance to several hotels and the minor league Baseball stadium.

The food is excellent and slightly pricey.  Don't drink here.  a bottled domestic is $4!  That's outrageous.  I won't be back for that reason alone.

Service was slow, and the staff seemed constantly in a state of confusion.

i was visiting from san diego, and always enjoy trying out local breweries. Though i will say, coming from San Diego, I may have become a bit of a microbrew snob (stone, greenflash). i like my beers hoppy and strong. first off, no beer cleared the 6% barrier (-1 star). they had the usual run of beers (pils, stout, IPA, pale ale). i had an IPA  (~5.9%) which for my taste was way too plain.  it had some vanilla/cream accents which were faint, but didn't add to it (and due to the lack of hops seem to take away from it a bit and make it more of a run-of-the-mill brown ale and not an IPA). the Stout was a bit more impressive (~5.8%), great color, good coffee notes. if you like a really strong stout it might not be your cup of tea, but i tend to like a midrange stout if i'm in it for the long haul and i think this one delivered pretty well.

as far as the food goes, i had one of their woodfire pizzas (the crust was made from one of their brown ales) and it was decent. nothing to write home about, a thicker doughier pizza. side salad was good.

service was good, a little slower than expected, but very friendly. seemed it was more the kitchen then the waitress.

i'd come back, but i'll probably try out a few places around town first. i did like that they had 4 pool tables though.

Haven't  eaten here so I'm only really rating the beer and outdoors service.. The indoor service kinda sucked, slow and loved to ignore you apparently, not such a great start.  The inside is cavernous, yet still feels fun and inviting if  little sterile.  Small outdoor seating with a cool bench along the front window facing the street, great people watching spot, except there ain't that many people in downtown Chattanooga at night it seems ;-)

The beer was very, very good! Stout, brown, pils, excellent.  Our outdoor server was helpful and seemed happy to be working there so maybe they aren't all like the dude inside.. I hope.

I'd give them 3 1/2 stars if the system would let me...

I've eaten here twice in the last few months - once for lunch and once for dinner.

For lunch today I shared the combo appetizer (buffalo wings, spinache/jalapeno cheese dip w/chips, and egg rolls) with a colleage and ordered the fish tacos for lunch.  The fish tacos were enthusiastically recommended by our waiter.  I thought they were OK - not bad, not great, but OK.  The fish was mahi-mahi and the tacos had remoulade sauce in them.  They come in a blue corn tortilla wrapped in pepper jack cheese then wrapped again in a flour tortilla.  Too much tortilla for me personally.  Of course, I compare any fish taco anywhere to the wonderful fish tacos one can find in abundance in San Diego - a bit unfair, perhaps, but San Diego fish tacos are THE standard!

They do offer home brews here.  I had the seasonal heffeweisen, which was good enough to warrant a second.  (It was a late lunch and we were done working for the day...)

Like I said, if I could give 3 1/2 stars I would.  There are several other restaurants in the area I plan to try as my business travels bring me to Chattanooga.

I came only for the bar and the beer.  The beer was not spectacular but it tasted decent and gave me a good buzz, which was really the point.  The service was friendly.
