1 review for Big League Dreams
I have been playing in the co-ed softball leagues at Big League Dreams for about a year now. My team played last spring and this fall/winter. The facilities are very nice. With 5 different diamonds with grass outfields and artificial infields, batting cages, playground, indoor soccer field and 2 snack bar buildings this place is built for lots of people and entertaining all of them and their families. We did have a problem with getting placed in a bracket that our abilities were matched for. After one season in which we didn't even have a winning record they placed us the next season in a higher bracket because they said our practice game was so good (we tied a team that had lost in the lower bracket championship). With the higher placement we struggled all season against teams with more power hitters and better fielders and most of us felt discouraged. Most of us did not play baseball or softball in high school or college we are just out there trying to have fun and play some competitive games with people at our same general level. The management did finally say that if we played out the rest of the games then next season they would give us a discount on the fee to play (which is $50 per person without a sponsor). Players and general public going to watch games also have to pay $3 each time you go to the park but they give you a token that is worth $1 at the snack bar....where you have to spend at least $3 more to buy anything. Writing this review it seems like I really don't like this place yet we keep going back because it was one of the few leagues in the area that has co-ed softball leagues starting about every 12 weeks and as a team we do have fun every week getting together and that is what it is about for us. Some people that play there get pretty into the games though and at the last game we played we witnessed an on-field fight between 2 other teams that was going to escalate into a parking lot fight (wow, really guys? its just softball) and the cops were called. I think this facility would be awesome for little kids as each of the fields is representative of a real life MLB ball park and the grounds are kept up very nicely.
