Three days after I visited this restaurant, there was a "fire of unknown origin" at the restaurant. http://www.toledoblade.com/Police-Fire/2012/04/05/Fire-shuts-down-eatery-in-W-Toledo.html
In the in-between, the restaurant was shut down entirely. The building is now owned and operated by Sidelines, a well established local sports bar chain.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Apr 1, 2012Previous reviewOh god, no. Never again. Not ever.
Our original plan last night was to go out for burgers. Our favorite burger joint had an hour wait, and other restaurants in that area weren't much shorter, so we ventured back into our home neighborhood and decided to try Big Catch.
My eldest son and I had the snow crab legs, cole slaw, and onion rings. The youngest had lobster ravioli, my husband had the ribeye and a lobster tail, and we all shared an order of calamari.
The calamari was hot and delicious, and the onion rings were crispy and tasty. The snow crab legs and the lobster tasted good, and the cole slaw was nice and fresh. My husband's steak was slightly overcooked. The youngest's ravioli was not to his liking, and we all agreed that it didn't taste so great. It didn't taste bad, it was just bland and unappealing, he didn't finish it, and instead shared some crab legs with the eldest and me. Our server was attentive and friendly, what happened next was in no way her fault.
All four of us fell ill within hours of returning home. We have been suffering terrible GI distress since about 11PM last night, and it has continued unabated. We are all cultivating close relationships with the bathroom. ALL OF US. We all had seafood at Big Catch, and we are all paying for that mistake today. It's not severe enough to go to the ER, but it's bad enough that we can't keep much more than clear liquids and toast down.
Avoid. Something is apparently not right with their seafood storage or handling or preparation. - Tim S.Toledo, OH01Jan 15, 2012First to Review
I didn't want to give this place even 1 star..
Save your money.
As in the previous review, the host or hostess was not in the front of the restaraunt when we showed up. We awkwardly held there for a few minutes while pacing into the lounge and dining areas, looking for anyone who could seat us. Finally, we found someone and were seated.
The waitress served us in a timely manner.
THE FOOD WAS AWFUL!
I ordered a 12 oz walleye fillet and asked how I wanted it cooked. I said "grilled" and was told that could be done. The fillet was obviously not grilled. I can't even tell you how it was prepared. The fish tasted as if it were microwaved and it was cold on delivery!
The other dish we ordered was blackened shrimp fettucini. It tasted like it was seasoned with oriental ramen packets and a blast of cajun. Way too spicy for the dish. The girl in our party who ordered it tried to send it back and was offered another dish at half price... Really?
This was, hands down, the worst restaraunt experience I have personally ever had.
I was offered a 10% off coupon for my next visit...
There won't be a next time.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
