Ponce De Leon Avenue / Moreland AvenueDude was on the corner of North Highland and Ponce this afternoon when we drove by. He's rocking the blue shorts pictured on this page.
I don't know what to make of him, but he is definitely an Atlanta landmark.

Has he switched corners? I have not seen him in ages! I love all the wonderful characters around our quaint little city!
On a similar subject, whatever happened to the tutu baton twirling man that hung out on Ponce?

I've seen this clown around for years! Does he ever miss a day? I wonder has he assaulted someone with that thing! The absurdity...
Hands down one of the greatest landmarks in our fair city.

Not sure what the site is, but there's also a "documentary" on this guy. I made sure the first time my Mom came to visit me, we drove down B'cliff and she saw the Highland Walker. Priceless. This man is an VaHi staple!

Also referred to as Penis on Ponce by some, this man will definitely make you look twice. He especially likes the ladies, and loves to say hi. I was introduced while driving by on Briarcliff - I was told he was up there on the corner. I was like... hmm ok, so I look over as we pass by, and he (well his lower half) is a few feet from my face. I am now scarred for life. Thanks Willy.

Tumor? Blessed? I'm sure there are some out there who *know* in the biblical sense, but I am not one of them.
I have, however, been Atlantan for 14 years now, & he's been hanging (ahem) around at least that long (ahem.)
A real gem on Mr. Willy (ahem) Terry is the documentary found on youtube. See Jessica H.'s review for the links.

I love this man. If I were not getting married in a month, I'd ask Willy out.
Seriously though, he's quite possibly my favorite Atlanta character. Everyone should go talk to him and check out that hot junk of his being squeezed by the bike shorts.

If you're lucky, you'll catch this guy standing just before the corner of Ponce, driving toward L5P on Briarcliff. I don't know why he does it, and I don't know why he doesn't purchase some looser-fitting clothing, but do we really need an explanation for everything we enjoy? Nope.
Also, if you're lucky, you'll see one of the pedestrian signs made in his likeness, but somebody keeps taking them down.

Directions to St. Charles:
Head north on Moreland
Cross over Euclid, Freedom Pkwy, and Ponce
After Moreland becomes Briarcliff...
Hang a left at the junk; exercise caution.

I'm not going to let everyone else down and give him anything but a 5 star rating. This man is a wonderful addition to this world and when he passes on, it will be the worst subtraction to ever happen on the face of this planet. God, don't take him away from the world!

How crazy that Nikki added this review! My brother and I haven't lived in Atlanta for years and found ourselves talking about him again recently. Check out the Willy Terry story, parts 1 and 2:

Can I just tell you how much I love this man? He obviously has a problem- either a hernia or tumor gone dangerously awry, or a package that cannot be reckoned with. I think it is the former. But not sure.
Anyway, this guy has spent many a moon chilling on the Ponce De Leon/ Briarcliff intersection and strolling in L5P, showing his goods to anyone who is daring enough to look his way. He has won "Local Personality" by "Creative Loafing" for many a year, and that should say just enough!
He even has his own sign on Ponce and Briarcliff/ Moreland Ave. (look at my pics!)
Take a look at him and his shorts when you drive on by. He doesn't mind! He revels in it!! C'mon, give him a smile!

Every city needs its people. Baton Bob towers over many other local Atlanta landmarks: I prefer his package to Stone Mountain, to the Big Chicken, to the Coke museum.
This man never fails to grin. He's got the most unfailing grin I've ever seen. If only I could smile this much. Perhaps if I wore biker shorts more often. Those biker shorts looks comfy.
I'm going to go buy a pair of Body Glove off ebay and show my junk off on a competing street.
My current favorite human street fixture, though, is the guy that dresses up like Buckwheat over at the intersection of Boulevard and Freedom Pkwy.

I think it's awesome that there is a review posted on Bicycle Shorts Man. When I worked at Emory I had to travel Ponce and Moreland daily, and I was blessed.....NO HONORED, to get a glimpse of this dude every afternoon.
