My *fav* Thai bakery and worth the drive to Hollywood all by itself!

This place has such a fabulous selection of Thai pastries and unique Thai items. I also love that the staff is super friendly and doesn't mind answering questions.

They do run out of some stuff so make sure to go early if there's something in particular you're craving. My favs include the grilled coconut, the Thai tacos and the dreid mangostein. I also like the coconut jelly rounds they sell by the register.

The one downside is the parking is a pain BUT there is street parking as well as parking at some of the nearby shopping centers --at your own risk of course but I've never had a problem. ;-)

    I don't understand....

The place is pretty sketchy, or maybe it's just in a sketchy area so I felt that way.

My friend came here before and recommended the rolled crepe with pandan custard.  It didn't look too bad but it did not taste good. It tasted old or maybe it was just stale. And maybe because it wasn't warmed up?  She said other times when she came, they were pretty warm and tasted much better.  We bought two boxes (12 pieces) because she said it was good!!

I also tried the crispy pancake. 7 pieces for $3. The outside was crispy (so glad they kept it warm)! I liked that part. The white part was some sort of sweet, chewy cream. I think it's coconut-based. The whole thing wasn't so bad but nothing great about it. Though at the store, I saw two kinds (yellow stuffing & orange stuffing) but I had no idea they were different until I saw their website a while ago. I thought it was just the coloring since their description didn't say anything. They should've asked. They should've informed me.

What got me really frustrated with this place was their customer service. While the guy was getting my order, he kept talking to some girl worker in Thai. The whole time, she kept pointing at the food. It scared me. It really did. The thought of them giving me old dessert kept racing through my mind. And you know what else was creepy? If you ever walk to the right corner of the store, the corner with very little light, there's this big window with people sitting right in front of it. As soon as we were in front of it (not knowing what's in that beloved corner), the people stopped talking and stared... Awkward moment?

I really didn't know anything when I walked into the store. While I appreciate the guy worker for answering my questions, I did not appreciate all the staring, even from the cashier workers. If you're going to look at me when I walk around, at least offer some kind of service.

$9 spent but no satisfaction. We were so disappointed, we drove straight to Bottega Louie after.

AMAZING. I loved this place the second I stepped in the door. i wanted to buy everything.

A lady behind us in line recommended the "things with coconut and taro." She was right - we got the pangchi and green tea ice cream, and I can't wait to go back. Don't miss out on stopping here for dessert when you eat at the other places in the parking lot.

    How I love this place.

I've been coming since I was wee little and on this recent trip back home I told my mom I want some. There is a lack of Asian dessert shops in general and definitely none in Vegas.

I stocked up on all the goods. Panchi, crispy pancakes (both the sweet and the salty kind), ruammit are my favorites. They didnt have the pandan crepes but those are really good too. My mom got also these taro coconut balls, taro sweet rice,  and bean custard as well.

When we were in the guy working told me his favorite way to eat the crispy pancakes was with taro ice cream so I tried it and that was a pretty good combinations. Overall good customer service.

So proud of myself. I was able to hold out to bring some back to Vegas.

Call me ignorant and oblivious but Thai tea and mango stick rice were the only Thai desserts that I knew of until I came here.

It was like walking into a whole new world - I had no idea what anything was and I was too shy to try anything besides my beloved thai tea and mango sticky rice. Luckily, I came with a friend who knew her Thai desserts so I got to try so many delicious and interesting things.

The mango stick rice, however, remained my favorite. The rice was soft, sweet, and not overly sticky. The mango slices were fresh and delicious. I recently tried coming back for some more mango sticky rice, but they don't sell it during this time of year because mangoes are apparently out of season.

The plaza has free valet parking up to 30 minutes with validation, which is more than enough to go in, look around, and get some yummy dessert.

A must visit for tasty Thai sweets!

I came here specifically for the panchi but they ran out, Bummer! :(  All that were left were few crispy pancakes and grilled sticky rice w/ taro (that's what I get for going there at 9pm).

The crispy pancakes were thin, lighty sweetened and filled with coconut cream and shredded coconut, Delish!  It's the perfect snack to munch on.  I wanted to buy more but there were only 4 left, boooo!  They are normally 7 for $3, I got 4 for $1.50...Score! haha =P

The grilled sticky rice w/ taro ($1.25 each) is so yummy!  The sweetness of the taro combined with the chewiness of the sticky rice is a perfect match!  It tastes better when it's warm so pop it in the microwave for about 25 seconds.

I also tried the Thai dessert ($3).  It's basically fruits & jelly in coconut milk served with ice.  It was kinda sweet but good.  My fav ingredient in there was the tapioca starch balls w/ water chestnuts.  It had a good texture and crunch.  They kinda reminded me of pomegranate seeds, minus the tartness.

I love this place and will definitely return!  BTW, it's $2 for valet.

I walked in at around 11pm on a weeknight.  The area is a little sketch, and when I walked in, they looked at me like something fishy was going on and that I shouldn't be in there.

Everything was basically sold out, but I was able to get a grilled sticky rice with taro.  It was wrapped in a banana leaf and not too sweet.  I love sticky rice and it was just right.

They sell freeze dried fruits and lots of Thai snacks and candies.  Everything came in large-ish packages and i wasn't bold enough to purchase a large pack of something I have never tried before.

I would definitely come back in the daytime when the options are more abundant.

Moving onward, a third sweets stop would be for dessert following my first "real" Thai experience at Jitlada - appropriately at a "real" Thai sweet shop named Bhan Kanom recommended by my dining buddy as we opted to skip dessert at the famed Sunset Boulevard location both due to capacity and him having to return to work.

Having really never experienced Taiwanese sweets in the past I was quite surprised entering Bhan Kanom to find the location not only quite packed with products but also with people, the majority Thai themselves and a good indicator of the authenticity of the cuisine.  With options diverse but the store quite full (much like my stomach) and more dining plans for later I spent some time browsing before settling on my choice and in addition was gifted one of my friend's "Pangchi," a small fried disc consisting of Taro, Corn, Coconut, and Sugar that was crisp on the outside and creamy within costing a mere 40 cents and packing a whole lot of flavor into such a small and sweet bite.

Paying the modest tab of $3 and making my way to the street after gathering some plastic cutlery my dessert for the afternoon would be based on my fascination with taro - a root vegetable that should absolutely be more prominent in western cuisine - in the form of a simple chilled dessert titled "Sweet Rice with Taro."  Mildly sweet but full of creamy tones and the unmistakable flavor of coconut infusing the panna cotta smooth layer atop an admixture of soft rice and fibrous taro this dessert was part sugary and part savory but more surprisingly very light yet fulfilling - a slightly solid rice pudding, if you will.

Admittedly impressed and at the same time wondering what exactly the sweet rice would have tasted like warm my only regret in visiting Bhan Kanom is was my limited capacity - I'd have loved to try the warm black beans in coconut milk - and the fact that they were sold out of the fried taro, but in the end I can definitely say I'd like to go back and will certainly be on the lookout for Taiwanese desserts during future travels.

Headed here after eating at Thai Patio next door (great place btw!)

There's a huge variety of thai snacks and drinks. There's also fresh desserts being made. I got the the grilled banana wrapped sticky rice .. I thought it was okay but my mom didn't like it. The owners are sweet and friendly.

They didn't have everything I was looking for but it's a great store to get a variety of Asian sweet treats and they had a good variety of Thai baked desserts.

Their little chewy corn and taro pancakes were delicious!  Served warm with a crispy edge, the sweet corn inside was so good and chewy.  Their banana wrapped in sticky rice was just OK.

I wish they sold more drinks with coconut milk.

I guess I'm a fan because Bhan Kanom Thai centralized most of the more popular Thai desserts in one store.  It's almost like a one stop shop for Thai snacks, unless you are looking for something specific.  The prices are fair too and service is alright, depending on who you run into, haha.  Cash is a sure bet and I think it's minimum 10 dollars for credit card charges, but don't quote me on that.  They have an atm in the store, if you happen to forget.  It's a 2 bucks charge though.

I've never been a fan of packaged snacks so I've really never tried anything.  I like the fresh sweets and pastries.  Definitely get the Pang Jee!  Their shaved ice dessert is great for the warmer days.  I absolutely love these coconut juice that has the meat in the bottom!  If you freeze it just enough, it's delicious and awesome for the summer.

Unless you know your way around Thai Town, Bahn Kanom Thai is your better choice if you have hankering for Thai style sweets.

Once you walk into this place, you would immediately want to buy all the desserts in the store because of that strong aroma of coconut milk...

I have a guilty pleasure for all things taro and coconut. I order two boxes of pang chi (taro, tapioca, coconut milk, shredded coconut, corn) every time. but I promise it's not just for myself...

So many times I come to bhan kanom thai just to browse after my meal in the same plaza. It's safe to say that I never leave empty handed. BKT always has what I'm craving even before I crave it. "durian chips?! I haven't had that in so long!" "orange flavor taro (dried fish strings)! Those remind me of my childhood days!" They seriously have almost every Thai snack I've always wanted.

The best dessert here is Panchi. Purple taro pancakes. So amazing. They make it just as good as places in Thailand. Also, sang-ga-ya (green cotton candy-like thing wrapped around thin tortilla).

I wish they has the rare Thai Lays flavors though. Like seaweed Lays!!

MY GOD MAN. I used to come here when Palms was still next door! Also, I really just want to rate this place up. The fried and grilled desserts are ultra awesome and I recently got this coconut milk-like drink with jackfruit and green and red fruits that I NEED TO HAVE AGAIN. Very affordable as well.

They're really sweet here! The cashiers are pretty women!

Sidenote: When the hell did the parking lot become valet only? I guess I haven't been here for awhile..

Bhan Kanom is a Thai sweets emporium in a busy strip mall in the heart of Thai Town.  If you're unfamiliar with Thai desserts, consider this your school.  There are dry and pantry goods as well as prepared sweets ladled out of milky vats.  An impossible variety of treats covers every inch along every wall, and many of the walkways in between.  There is nowhere in the store to eat, and once you pick your treats you may have to eat in the parking lot.  The number of choices can be a little overwhelming, especially if you know no Thai, but the women working the counter can point you towards some of the more popular items.  Another great thing about this place is that the goods are cheap - cheap enough that you can get what you want and not feel terrible if it doesn't pan out.

I've been here twice now, both times after hearty lunches at Jitlada.  I have to admit - I'm not entirely sold on Thai desserts, and many of the offerings at Bhan Kanom are so sticky sweet as to be unappealing.  The panchi, though, are pretty convincing.  These are purple fried taro nuggets studded with chewy coconut and kernels of corn.  They have fantastic texture from the coconut and the frier, and the sweet taro flavor is excellent and not too cloying.  The panchi are small, and you buy them in bags, with a minimum of six to a purchase.  They're cheap, though, and they go fast.  They are the reason I'd go back to Bhan Kanom.

The other pastries are a bit too saccharine for my palate.  I wonder how much of this has to do with Bhan Kanom and how much of it has to do with me.  If I just don't like the particular brand of sweetness in Thai desserts, then perhaps this place deserves an extra star.  I've had limited exposure to Thai sweets, so I can't really articulate a clearer stance.  I do know, though, that I've had and loved sticky rice before.  I like the sweet glutinous rice and I love desserts with fruit.  I found the steamed sticky rice with banana at Bhan Kanom a little bit weird and unappetizing.  The outer shell of rice was gluey and there was too much of it alone.  The banana filling and sweet black beans were very tasty and the bites with more filling were pretty good, but I wouldn't get the sticky rice again.  I was also unenthusiastic about the pumpkin in coconut milk.  The milk was warm and the temperature added to the sense of sugar overload.  The pumpkin was decent, cooked soft with the rind on, but even that was too sweet.

If this doesn't sound like good news, that's because I have lukewarm feelings towards Bhan Kanom.  I acknowledge, though, that I am not used to Thai desserts and it is possible that they are meant to be sticky sweet.  I do know that the panchi alone make the place worth a visit, but I won't stray far from those in the future.

Walking down the street doing our lady strut,  mi amigo y yo were conversing about god only knows what and this just happened to prompt our visit here.

"I have a boo boo" I whine and make my cute sad face.

"Why?  What happened?" My friend inquires with a quizzical facial expression.

"I was shaving my pikachu in the shower and I cut mah self :( wah!"  I do my sad puppy dog eyes again.

She ponders a moment and responds, " Why were you shaving your PIKACHU?!  HAHAHA PIKACHU!  How about we get dessert?  That might make your cooter feel better."

Instantly I exclaim, "YES! DESSERT!"  I nod feverishly.

Her head does a full 180 degree turn and asks suspiciously, "You didn't answer my question, what were you shaving your lady parts for?"

I respond indignantly, "A lady does not kiss and tell, speaking of which I know this place that has yummy desserts that this guy took me to."

Parking might be a bit hard to come by in these parts.  Located in a bustling plaza filled with such Thai heavyweights Ruen Pair, Red Corner Asia, and Thai Patio; this place is a perfect ending to a Thai themed Thursday.  There is valet as well as metered parking around the neighborhood but be wary of the signs.

This place seems unassuming from the outside.  You don't expect what you're about to walk into.  Shelves of candies and all types of Asian goodies, display cases filled with ice cream and pastries, a fridge filled with cold treats waiting to be eaten.

I zeroed in on those Panchi pancake things just like Whitney in a crack whack candy store.  This is the good stuff.  Pure unadulterated pleasure, no apologies, no gimmicks, just straight up deliciousness.  Its taro cakes with coconut and corn grilled to crispy perfection and still chewy on the outside.  I've ordered a 10 piece box ($4) and just laid on the couch in my black night-robe with pink cats on it and watched a Lifetime movie while eating these like popcorn.  I rationalize that these have corn in them so they're like popcorn.  (Don't laugh, this really happened...I know...I'm sad...and single...)

I've tried the crispy taco things (no dirty, stop it) courtesy of Daniel L a while back and they were good good.  Although i think they were a bit too fragrant for my taste.

I had a bite of my friends taro rice pudding cup and it was quite tasty.  The coconut wasn't too overpowering, letting the taro flavor peak through.  It was creamy and smooth and quite refreshing.

Lychee Ice Cream.  Get it. *punches you in yo lady bizness*  "Waz good wuzzunnt it"

The only thing I've had that was not good here is their so called "shaved ice" dessert.  I was not a fan of the fact that ice was in big chunks and not like the normally fluffy snowy texture that shaved ice normally has.  It came with the condensed milk and for toppings I chose red bean (my fave) jackfruit, logan seeds, and the black jello.  I was disappointed by the ice.  It was not a pleasant experience because the ice texture and size of the ice.  I'll be skipping that next time.

If this place was a baseball team, their colors would be green and yellow and they would have scored a coconut and taro filled home run.  Yum!

MmM it smeled good as soon as i walked in!
They had so many options i couldnt make up my mind on what i wanted to get and try!

I got one sticky rice and taro, and a sticky rice and banana..both were so good and $1.25 each, i think i liked the taro the best. I also got a pack of  Sweet breads/muffins with a green custard inside, dont exactly know what it was but it was...SO GOOD!!! those were my favorite!..and a bag of thai chips. all came out to about $8, not too bad. I was kind of bummed that they didnt have any Crispy Pancakes out, good thing i live close to it.

and the valet parking was free since i was there for less than 30 min. not bad. :)

While out in Hollywood last weekend, my friends and I decided to get some dessert after a late night dinner. This was the closest place open, so we decided to give it a try.

Upon walking in, we found that it was more of a bakery/store than a sit down dessert place, but we forged ahead anyway and looked around. Unfortunately, a lot of the dishes recommended by yelpers were no longer available, so we had to improvise.

My date and I chose an egg pudding dessert and coconut milk pudding and ate them when we got home. Neither dessert really hit the spot as the egg pudding was super eggy tasting and the coconut pudding was way too coconut flavored. I just wasn't into either of these desserts and would not get either again. Not a good experience here at all.

Fried bananas & taro coconut patties yummm
My friend in food, Ron, brought me here after we had noodles and it was a good as he talked it up to be. The taro patties are chewy and crispy and not too sweet and very craveable. Bananas were good too and actually weren't bad the next day popped in the microwave.
I also picked up some bags of tao kae noi which is fried seasoned seaweed strips. Comes in original, spicy, tempura, and tom yong goong which is so tasty.
Plus the people were pretty nice and welcoming.
I'll definitely be back. I may even go back in a few days!! Can't wait :)

Visited this place because I wanted to see what "The original thai dessert" place is all about.  Went in and there is a whole plethora of sweets to choose from.  Felt like a kid in a candy store.  Actually a kid in a thai candy store.

I got to try out the mango sticky rice.  The rice was cold at the time, but the cashier was nice enough to heat up the rice for me.  It was a great treat.  Healthy and satisfying my sweet tooth at the time.  What more can you ask for.  I have to go back to try other thai sweets.

Had to knock off one star for really really bad parking and no place to sit.  I had to enjoy my mango rice standing outside of the shop.

Overall it was a very positive experience and highly recommend to check out this place if you are looking for new ways to satisfy your inner sweets desire.

I made a stop here after a meal at Ruen Pair. I got the sticky rice with banana inside.  Great choice.  A pretty unique bakery with many choices you cannot get in many other places.  I will have to come back to try more things here because it all very good.  Be adventurous and try something even if you do know what it is, because chances are.... it's good.

In my review, I think the reason I elevated it to a 5 star was because I have never seen a thai bakery and I was very impressed with the selection and the variety of products.

This place is delicious.   I usually get the sticky rice by the pound, it's about $5/lb.  I also like the grilled sticky rice with banana.  The one with taro is okay, I am more of a banana fan.  It's been so long since I have been here and I was really craving the sticky rice.  They have a whole lot of other stuff, but this is was I usually come here for.  This is popular among the thai community.

Parking is a challenge here so that's the only downer.  Also, I am not a big fan of the custards that they have that come in that tin.  I would pass on that.  But the sticky rice with custard is pretty good.  They use to make this triple combination with sticky rice one was custard and i forget the other two, not sure if they still make it.

The pang chi (grilled taro/coconut) also isn't bad, it makes for a good snack when you are hungry, a little on the greasy side, but tasty.

A popular item here that my friends enjoy is what I think is referred to as the friendship dessert which is the ruam mit (mixed fruits in milky drink).  I think its just okay, but I know people that really enjoy this so I though I'd thought I'd throw it out there.

Mango sticky rice ($5) and Thai pancake ($3)...not bad at all!  But valet parking for that complex? You've got to be kidding me!

Been here a few times and WOW! I loved back in the day when I was growing up, my mom used to take me to the Thai temple so that I could learn some Thai. Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention in class and I ended up only speaking and understanding Thai. What I did pay attention to were all the delicious Thai desserts that were available every time I went. I looked forward to that there and also going to Thai restaurants because there always seemed to have a Thai market next door with said delicious Thai desserts.

Enter Bhan Kanom Thai. It's obvious from the reviews already that you should come here. What I love about this place is that not only does it remind me of my youth for some reason, but every Thai dessert that I held near and dear to my heart is found here! From the Kanom Chan(green looking layered dessert) to the Kanom Glock(coconut GOODNESS), it's all good and it will appeal to your Thai dessert fantasies.

Come here for sure! Wish they had a place like this in San Diego. Maybe I need to do a little bit more exploring around these parts. If you're in Hollywood, this place is a no doubter!

Don't get me wrong, I still LOVE the taro desserts I get from here, but I had to knock one star for the new things I tried that were just ok for me. I was able to try their crispy pancake and taro cake (sweet rice cake with taro flavor) thanks to fellow Yelper Daniel L. The crispy pancake was good, it had a nice light sweetness to it, not sure what it was made out of. The taro cake I didn't like that much, the texture was rubbery and didn't really taste like taro. I also got the pudding cup with taro, coconut and sweet rice again, this time the rice wasn't as soft like the last time.

I also go to taste the taro and lychee ice cream. The taro ice cream was ok, not as creamy as I would have liked it. I liked the lychee ice cream better, very nice and refreshing.

I'll definitely back to try their other desserts, their website says they have taro buns too but I didn't see them!

I remember when I was little my mom would take me to Thai markets and she'd buy her groceries. On Sundays, this Thai lady would be outside selling crispy coconut balls that broke in half. They were the only reason I'd go with my mom for grocery shopping. But I never found out what they were called and the lady hasn't been there for years.
So one day I walk into this place after my lunch at Thai Patio and I see those crispy coconut ball things! I bought two packs in a heartbeat.
They're exactly as I remember them, if not better.
It was really nice to be reunited with one of my favorite foods as a kid. :)

After my stupid little story, here's my review:
Other good things at that place are the crispy tacos, the panchi, and the mango with sticky rice. The ice cream is alright.
The service is friendly, the lady at the counter kept smiling at me!
It smells amazing in there, by the way. Once you walk in you want to eat the whole store!
I love this place. I'm definitely coming back and getting more of those yummy coconut things!

Oh if only this place was also in the Bay Area! LA is definitely THE place for Thai food in the United States and Bhan Kanom is Definitely THE place for Thai desserts!

Half Thai, so I am totally picky with my desserts as so much has been Americanized. This place is authentic and everything is made just like at home in Thailand!

I absolutely recommend stopping by if you're visiting LA!

I have never come across a Thai dessert store anywhere else in the US, and I have travelled a lot. May exist elsewhere--but I live within 10 minutes of this store, which always has:

    mango with coconut sticky rice
    pineapple sandwhich cookies
zillions of coconut, pandan and taro-flavored desserts

Lots of house-made products, frozen desserts, baked goods, hot and cold desserts, to take out or nibble on the way home. Many varieties of Thai commercial sweets, eg, the pineapple sandwich cookies, which I love.

AND conveniently located next door to the biggest Thai supermarket on Hollywood Blvd, Silom Market. What's not to love?...:D

    I had the:
    young coconut milk
    Khanom Kroc

    All were delicious!

Warning: this is more me high on sugar than an actual review.

I'll always remember the day I read judy w's review of this place. http://www.yelp.com/us... I kept reading it over and over getting more and more excited. I mean, this was the girl who turned me on to Scoops. (I read all of her reviews)

My heart was in my throat when I realized it was too late to go that day. But I WAS there the very next day hauling off carts of goodies to take home. I ate so much that I felt sick. Sick and happy. My stomach was bursting with an entire mango, at least six Panchi (little taro/coconut rice cakes), and I don't know how many wafer thin mini crepes filled with coconut cream as well as all sorts of other goodies.

So now I have a friend coming into town in about a month who likes Pandan. Where can I find it? Search yelp of course. Well, what comes up? Bhan Kanom Thai and this time I notice Anh's review. http://www.yelp.com/us... I didn't know her back then so I hadn't read it. What's this, a chicken curry pie with a flaky crust? Dayam!

So where did I find myself today. You guessed it. Well, they were out of the curry pie as Anh had mentioned they might be and they didn't have any mango and sticky rice either but that's OK because what I ended up with made me forget about everything bad in the world including Britney's "shaved chicken" shot that STILL gives me more nightmares than Faces of Death III. WARNING: think twice before clicking this link. http://www.speedmonkey...

What was it? What was this heavenly dish? Very simply it was a hot bowl of thick and sweet coconut milk filled with tender sweet chunks of plantain; two of my favorite things EVER mixed together. One bite and the birds started singing, the sky turned blue, all my credit cards were paid off, I had retired, the ice caps stopped melting, I owned a house in every country and a private jet.

The only way I think I could have possibly enjoyed it any more was to have had the two afore-mentioned reviewers along with me and two more spoons cause there's nothing like sharing with friends right? And they would have loved this stuff.

Ahh well, there is always next time.

This is one cool Thai dessert shop! =)

After chowing down at Hoy-Ka, we (well, more I hehe) wanted to get dessert . . .so just a block or two away we found ourselves at Bhan Kanom Thai!

    We ordered:
-Crispy sweet pancakes (if someone knows the actual name, please tell me! =p): made with lightly whipped egg whites...

    -mango sticky rice!!!

-banana sticky rice.. in a tamale form! :) with banana leaves...i thought this was a little too sweet.

The best was definitely the mango sticky rice...we had to heat the rice up a bit.. but it was definitely very tasty. :) I love little dessert shops! :)

Holy Taro of Buddha just thinking about this place is making my stomach growl at me.

    It's saying:

"GRRRRRRR judy w.!!! Why didn't you buy extra KANOM PANG KEE and MANGO STICKY RICE for us to devour later????GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!"

Sigh.  See what I have to live with?

Another spot that I'm reluctant to review. Yeah I'm selfish like that! ;p

We shot on over straight across the way to Bhan Kanom Thai after dining at Ruen Pair. Right when you walk in, you're senses are welcomed by the warm, coconutty aroma of all the DELISHTASTIC goodies awaitin'!

DD and I initially came here in search of mango sticky rice. Good thing for them they had some.  For $5 you get a container of sticky rice, with coconut syrup, and A WHOLE ENTIRE MANGO. They slice up the mango when you order it. Did you hear me? ONE WHOLE MANGO with each order. And the mango was so juicy and SWEET!

    .                              ::Aaaagggghgghghghghghghhhhh::

The Kanom Pang Kee was right up there as a favorite. These were bite-sized and made of taro, coconut, and corn - baked to a crisp numminess on the outside and warm ooey-gooey scrumptiousness on the inside. 6 for $2.50! I still don't understand how we only left with one order. They were all practically gone by the time we got back to DD's house around the corner.

The sticky rice with banana wrapped in banana leaf tasted weird to me. I took one bite of it and let Dirty D. wolf down the rest. It was only a buck and some change so no biggie.

Oh man, SO many other things that I wanted to try and gobble up ALL AT ONCE.  Man, I just wanted to buy one of everything and have a gorgefest of my own in the corner.  Too bad Dirty D. was there....  I mean! I'm so glad D-squared was there to share the yummy goodness of this bakery with me! ;D

Mmmmmmm I can't wait to go back...

So I've realized... the amount of desserts I buy from this place really has nothing to do with the coercion of the staff or the word 'promise.' It has to do with my lack of self control when I am anywhere in the vicinity of Thai desserts.

This time around, I walked out with 40 Khanom Buang (crispy little crepes filled with coconut cream and topped with sweet shredded egg yolks or dried shrimp- 32 sweet ones and 8 salty ones), 20 Paeng Jee (grilled cakes made with taro, corn, shredded coconut, and sugar), 10 Khao Tom Pad (sweet sticky rice filled with bananas and black beans and then steamed in banana leaves), 3 boxes of  Khanom Chan (A layered jelly-like dessert made with pandan leaves and jasmine), and 5 bags of pineapple cookies. I didn't even have a conversation with anyone, the only talking going on was limited to ordering.

You don't need to say anything. I already know- I'm going to get FAT. But at least I'll be happy.
