So I'm a wee bit biased, as I worked with BPP and Sacramento Theatre Experiment.
But this much I know is true:
They are the ONLY people in Sacramento doing experimental work like this.
If you want theatre that is interesting, different, and maybe even a little bit challenging??? Get a season subscription to BPP.
The actors are dedicated artsits who put much of themselves into what they do, and the shows are definately not something to be missed.
Soon, they'll have a bigger following, and you can say you saw them when!

What happens when you take a non-narrative text that doesn't have a plot and put a movement score to it and then add multi-media?
You get abstract theatre that in a way is more like a painting brought to life with movement and video... the script is like a jazz riff on culture, eggplants, fear and how we respond to society.
This is NOT theatre for those who like neat little stories with charming characters and happy endings. If you only like the very commercial Music Circus kind of thing, you probably won't like Dreams & Diatribes because it doesn't have a story. There is no narrative. We all have different stories in our heads however. Just use one of those!
OK, I admit I'm a wee bit prejudiced becasue I wrote the crazy thing! but also because of that, Yelpers can come see this crazy show on a 2-for-1 ticket deal. Just call 456-1600 to make that reservation or email us at beyondpro@sbcglobal.net

New Collaboration !
Dreams & Diatribes Redux is the first collaboration between Beyond the Proscenium Productions and Sacramento Theatre Experiment, BPP's newest sister company. BPP Artistic Director Nick Avdienko created Sacramento Theatre Experiment (STE) as a student project at CSUS. STE is a group of young, passionate artists dedicated to exploring the multitude of possibilities between movement and text. Because of the sparse/barebones/ uncluttered nature of the productions, STE is able to present their shows in any space within the Sacramentocommunity. During the weekends, STEs energetic movement pieces can be seen at festivals, art galleries and in the streets and structures of Midtown Sacramento.
