Random-ass awesome.
Actually, I give it 4.7 stars, since I think that no random-ass store of old and awesome shit should ever be ranked as highly as Gargoyles (RIP), but still this place is pretty swizeet.
There's an armoire I want there, replete with squeaky hinges, random art, random boxes, candlesticks, books, and generally cool "stuff" that you just can't live without.
Want a deck of Miss Cleo Tarot cards? You're in luck, they've got about 50!
Or would a big phallic crystal tickle yer g-spot, erm, fancy?
Not to worry, they've got two! AT LEAST!
So head on down to Bewitched in salem, if you're there in October, get a reading from Jacqui, say Hi to rick, and buy something awesome just not the armoire or I WILL find you. . . .and take it forcibly from your house.
Seriously, don't touch it.

Regarding this last positive comments about this dungeon store, my words are ya sure please rub it in and fool people.
The truth about this store is it sucks big time that's right it has all type of gadget for witch craft to old books and antique stuff, but one thing that you must be aware the whole store is full of dust, its like the whole store have not been cleaned in ages. On the top the owner, oh please he have his mother who is the grumpy old woman with him at his store, try talking to her or even have her help you with an item she immediately calls her son with some type of angry facial expression as of just buy the damn thing and get the hick out. Its like hay lady you are so helpless and perhaps a rocking chair and knitting needles in your hand would not be a bad idea.
The last but not the least for what I have heard throw friends the store have not been able to make enough money since God knows when. As a business owner my words are when it comes to selling its ALL about Customers and if you can't deal with a customer even on a bad hair day will then its time shut down the business.

I absolutely LOVE this shop! Not only does it have some very unique items for sale either vintage, new, or just completely random, but the owners are great. They're personable, down to earth, and very interesting to speak with. Plus, can't beat Rick, the psychic. Freaking awesome! Even if you don't believe in psychics, meeting with Rick is like a mini counseling session. He just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy even though he's more than willing to be blunt with you. No sugar coating for him! Anyway, if you ever find yourself walking around Essex street or wondering around Salem, be sure to stop by Bewitched in Salem... I promise you won't walk out empty handed. At the very least, you'll walk out with a smile.
This store which is a part of the Museum Place mall, but looks out onto Essex street as well. It is a collection of old random relics that is really not something to miss. Whoever picks out the items for the store, really has a great eye, because there are definitely a lot of "wants" (my mom refers to things as "wants" and "needs") in here.
Old photography, contraptions whose use you are unsure of, 80s posters, tiger statues, books, postcards, and general chatchka fare. I picked up an AMAZING painting that is of two deer in a pastoral setting....painted onto a buzz saw. Seriously. I'll take a photo of it for yelp at a later date, but it is absolutely amazing. It was definitely a "need".
I only wish the shopkeeps were more knowledgeable about the items in their store. I asked them to tell me about the artist, or where the piece was from and they were dumbfounded. Oh. Sounds good.
I wish I knew its history more, and would imagine many people would be curious as to the origins of the store's many unsual pieces.
Don't pass this store up, you just might find some amazing treasures :)
ps. why is the photo of this place a golden retriever? uhh.

This store has a good selection of items from local artists and a general assortment of stuff. I have never found that perfect thing that I have needed but have come close often enough. And the owner is a good guy who is bringing a needed store to Salem.

History
Established in 1996
Bewitched in Salem is the natural progression of my love of Antiques, Occult & Crystals.
Growing up in Salem with the momentum of the New Age movement in the 80's I resented being "taken" by vendors with pricing 3 or 4 times the normal retail markup. This led to our store's NO pressure sales, No up sell tactics & overall lower in store pricing.
My love of Quartz crystals brought me to the great land of Ghengis Khan. The quartz crystals and skulls that we sell are not your typical blast mined crystals from Brazil. They are Hand Mined in Mongolia not blast mined. They are then carved by 7th & 8th generation stone workers.
In 2008 the demand for our Psychic services became greater than I could handle by myself. I have now brought on board an old student and friend of 20 years to take the reins. Ask anyone on the pedestrian walkway where to go for a reading and most will say Bewitched in Salem.
I thank All of you friend and foe for making us what we are today.
