Please open a Cleveland location!
I'm a big fan of Betty's. I try to go anytime I'm in Columbus because there are so many vegetarian options. (and a great drink menu, BTW - I'd never seen peanut infused vodka before) I went this past weekend for lunch and had a fantastic meal. I gorged myself on the black bean nachos. Everyone at the table couldn't stop eating them. They were SO good. For my entree I had the pumpkin ravioli. I love anything pumpkin, and this was like a combination of ravioli and pie. That sounds terrible, but if you like fall flavors and pumpkin in particular, you'd want to lick your plate. Trust me.
I appreciate the random decorations and artworks all throughout the restaurant. It adds to the fun atmosphere. If you're into fun, quirky places with great food, you have to check out Betty's!
Rude Staff
Food arrived cold
The place is filthy.
Won't even bother with writing a lengthy review.
Great Atmosphere and cheap too, great place to drink with friends.
Two mixed loaded lemonades, two microbrews, 2 beers, coffee, and a virgin bloody mary for $19... awesome!
Oh and the beers? Tall Boy PBRs love it!
I love the crab nachos! I even took a pic and placed it on here so you all to see.
After a fabulous birthday weekend, my friend and I decided to hop in Betty's for a quick bite to eat on Sunday. It's not like I needed it - I had already downed a box of Girl Scout cookies, some White Castle sliders, and cupcakes in the past 48 hours...but I definitely wanted it.
We decided to get some Nachos as an appetizer which were soo good. I hate that runny fake cheese stuff, which this was nothing like. Melted cheese, black beans, good tomatoes - very very good!
After the nachos I went for the small Surly Girl salad which is always my go to. I love the gorgonzola, cranberries, and pecans on it. Sometimes, if I am really hungry I will add the Salmon to it. My friend got the veggie burrito which I took a bite of and was so yummy!! I am quite the carnivore, so I was suprised I liked it.
I also like Betty's for their vast beer selection. If you are looking for a new beer to try I recommend the Purple Haze. It has a bit of a fruit taste to it, but also hoppy.
my favorite place in columbus after living here 3 years. my first visit was on the day of ComFest 3 summers ago. we ended up having lunch and dinner there. steve's afternoon delight is always a must start. the pasta is wonderful. i've liked everything i've ever tried there. including the cocktail with tang! i know it can be a long wait sometimes, but it's worth it for the food and atmosphere.
The only thing thats missing is a Betty mascot standing outside. I've always liked this place, comfortable, good food and service. Roosters, Loud obnoxious guys ordering 3 dollar Pabst cans but its easy to hold a conversation, its in the Short North area, ah, thats about it.
One of my friends was visiting from out of town so we went out to look for some dinner one night and happened upon Betty's. We were not disappointed. There was a wait but we were able to snag a couple bar stools so it worked out.
The black bean hummus was a delightful surprise. I loved it. The salad I had was mediocre. Nothing special really. We split some spring rolls which were delicious and my friend ordered the mac and cheese which he said was pretty tasty.
It has a cool feel to the place. The beer is good too. Can't wait to go back to try more of the menu!
Betty's was one of the first places I ate at in the Short North. I was totally humbled by their homespun food. Nothing on the menu sounded too remarkable: macaroni & cheese, nachos, spinach salad. But the tastes are addicting. I've never had such good macaroni & cheese! Pepper and corn, just a bit of spice. Mmmm. Might I also recommend the plantains, the cheese ravioli, the potato pancakes, and the veggie burrito. The potato pancakes are appetizers, but I've had them as a meal before. They proved to be a filling lunch.
Most of the sides are yummy. I love the garlic redskin mashers, skillet corn, and homemade potato chips. I'll pass on the cilantro lime rice; both times I've had it it was a bit bland with not nearly enough lime. Then again, I've been totally spoiled by the lime rice at Chipotle.
Betty's is one of the few places in Columbus that serves a good brunch. It's available Saturdays and Sundays. You can dine-in or carryout. They claim their best brunch seller is the Bloody Mary.
Betty's is super vegetarian friendly and even has vegan options (try the 'shrooms!). Some of the dishes (veggie or not) run a bit on the spicy side. If you're not down with spice, be sure to ask your server to hold back a bit. They're happy to tone things down.
A female-empowered décor, just like sister site Surly. But Betty's has more of a cowgirl, pin-up spin, like Betty Davis...and Betty Boop and Betty Crocker. So many Betty's! And here's one more - the bar serves up a signature drink called the Betty Ford Clinic. How appropriate. It's pink lemonade and vodka, a big seller that's refreshing in the summer.
Very clean single bathroom. The doors are painted for girls and guys. The inside is also painted and has two huge mirrors so you can make sure you're looking good from head to toe.
This place fills up fast no matter the meal. The tables are also tiny and can only comfortably seat about four. Plan accordingly.
After a long six-hour drive, I arrived in the C-Bus hungry, tired, and in need of a damn good beer.
The fella had been eying Betty's for quite some time, so when I rolled into town we headed over there. It kind of has the "standard" dive bar decor, but it's a lot cleaner than any dive I've ever been to. We sat at the bar and ordered dinner and some drinks. Seriously, what is it about Columbus bars ALL having the microbrews I love at low prices?! I'm kind of in love with that notion.
ZOMG HEAPING PLATES OF COMFORT FOOD. So good! I stuffed my poor hungry belly with potato pancakes and the best damn grilled cheese sandwich ever.
It's not quite the Surly Girl or St. James Tavern, but you can bet we'll be back for more.
Oh, Betty's. I've been to Betty's a bunch of times, including today, and like this joint a lot. I've done a variety of things here... here are some experiences that stand out!
1. Got drunk with my little brother, on 1.75 PBR tall boys, when he visited me right after he turned 21. Very crowded that evening (in July of '08), and we were smooshed at the end of the bar, but it wasn't uncomfortable, just kind of jovial. I remember liking the atmosphere, and since my brother was living in LA at the time, it was just so nice to have brought him to someplace kinda cool in CBus.
2. Had a lunch date with a former student turned friend here. It was midafternoon in the summer and not crowded at all. I remember the service was a bit awkward that time, like the guy was obsessed with refilling my water, but otherwise it was good. I had the crab cakes, which were excellent.
3. Met my neighbor-friend for lunch today, similar scenario to #2, but better service. We shared the meatloaf (well, I mostly ate it, ha), which was excellent and definitely enough food to share between two people. Had a PBR in honor of my brother's aforementioned visit. All was well - excellent company, excellent dining experience.
Solid place to take people, and I like that it's small because if you're meeting someone there you won't feel like an ass looking around all over the place. Or you could be like me and do what I'm notorious for - reading books in bars. ;)
My first impression of Betty's two years ago was simple: interesting menu, decent beer and mixed drinks, and a WHOLE lot of butter or oil slathered on everything. At that time I went there in a great mood, celebrating my move to Ohio, and left feeling the food was mediocre and a bit decadent.
Having grown up on the East Coast I'm not to familiar with the midwest comfort food concept for a restuarant so it served its purpose as a backdrop for an event. I had the veggie melt and signature betty ford clinic martini, which tasted a bit like spiked tang.
Now two years later I find myself enjoying Betty's more at the end of a bad day or during a bad afternoon at work, stopping for Steve's delight to lighten my spirits.
I would not consider Betty's gourmet cuisine, but it definately provides needed comfort something I will keep coming back for as my mood permits.
I guess it is never to late to have a happy childhood.
Was in town for a business trip and decided to try Betty's 'comfort food' menu. Place was packed for 6:30 on a Thursday evening. Service was very friendly, but it was obvious that they were rushing people to turn tables.
Had the potato chip appetizer - it was OK. I didn't care for the cheese sauce. Hubby had the gorgonzola pasta - said it was excellent. I had the mac and cheese...it looked good but was way too rich for me.
As a Chicago native, I was often disappointed by the lackluster food options Columbus offered -- in the PAST. I used to have to chose between Applebees and Uno's (or a myriad of other awful chain restaurants).
This is no longer the case, thanks to the entire Short North district and restaurants like Betty's. Betty's Pub would fit right into one of the fine neighborhoods of Chicago like Lincoln Square. It's not pretentious nor condescending, service is good, food choices are great, and the beer list is long and thought out.
The Food: Top notch. Everyone at the table was impressed with the selection, taste, and value of the food. Personally, I had an intriguing falafel sandwich. I call it "intriguing" because the falafel pieces were ginormous (when traditionally, they are supposed to be small). It was well made and tasted great.
The Drinks: I am a beer snob -- and Betty's served me beer that indulged my snobbery. Enough said. :-)
The Service: Unpretentious and friendly. We had to wait for a table for about a half hour, since Betty's is small. We happily passed the time drinking their beer, the tab for which was later transferred over to our table without any questions. Nice touch!
Summary: I am so glad my friends brought me here -- Short North is alive and kicking thanks to Betty's and other neighboring pubs and restaurants.
I miss Betty's! I used to live in Columbus and would go to Betty's quite often because I'm a vegetarian and I like beer! Betty's had so many options in both categories. The establishment has a really nice atmosphere and is usually packed if you go for dinner! Even on a treacherous snowy evening I found that the place was packed! I enjoy the crowd there and the staff is cool too.
To the non-vegetarians, there are plenty of options for you too! I've eaten there with my meaty friends, and they've all enjoyed their meals. They have excellent wraps and appetizers too. The food is good and satisfying, but nothing out of this world, so Betty's gets 4 stars.
Betty's was A-OK for sure. I had a good time. I've talked about going there for quite sometime but never managed to be in the right mood for bar food. The menu surprised me a bit, especially the side dishes. I had dirty mashed potatoes and broccoli with cheese. I feel like you can't get that just anywhere.
The service was good, restaurant packed by the time we were served, and, yes, the decor was interesting. A destination restaurant? No, most likely not. A place worth eating and returning to for comfort? Most definitely.
Praise you, Betty!! You didn't disappoint!! I am so sick of places being so hyped up and never living up to their glory but the heavens have smiled upon Betty's and delivered!!
I sunk my teeth into one of the best turkey wraps known to man and for $8 am a happy girl. Wrapped in the softest tortilla around, the turkey was generously layered and rolled in cranberries, pecans and gargonzola (?) and has left me hungry for more! I will admit that I semi-regret my choice of side (chips) and should have gone with something a bit more cozy like broccoli or something but I couldn't decide under the intense pressure of my other lunch companions (and server) starting with anticipation waiting for my decision. Next time I will state my order (and side) with utter confidence, I tell you, and there will BE NO regrets!!
Ps. Cleanest and absolute coolest bathrooms in Columbus- LOVE the Vargas Girls theme!!!
One of my favorite places to eat in Columbus. Well, let's be honest... in all of Ohio. But then again, I never left Columbus so I suppose that generalization isn't fair (although most likely not far-fetched).
The whole place has an old-school cartoon theme and is small enough to be considered "quaint" or "intimate" but large enough that you don't feel like you're sitting on your neighbor. The bar lines the left side of the restaurant and there are tables on the right.
The bathroom decorations are great. If you pee a lot, you'll be happy to keep going back.
Food-wise: tasty! My favorite entree was the blackened catfish with the garlic mashers and corn. Best meal EVER. The spinach and artichoke dip is also something you should experience.
+1 for being in walking distance of where I used to live. -1 for being 2000 miles away from where I currently live.
Move out west, Betty.
Whenever I'm in Ohio visiting, Betty's is a must on my to-do list.
The food is truly excellent, providing variety for everyone in your party---but make sure it's a small group!
The pastas are always top notch, and I suggest trying one of the great beers from their nice selection.
My manly meat eaters are always happy with their options too, including beef that's actually cooked rare when ordered rare!
You'll be fighting for a table with many other funky hipsters, professor types, a surprisingly older set considering it's the Short North, and people who just got lost and ended up at Betty's.
If you're lucky, you can wait at the bar (oh, and you will wait my friend, you will wait)
At least it's size makes it seem like it's always hoppin!
The only reason why Betty's gets 4 v. 5 stars is because their entire place has high chairs and I absolutely despise high chairs/bar stools.
This still didn't keep me and my friends going here probably at once a week for drinks and dinner. They have great beer on tap, fun mixed drinks, and really delicious food. My favorite of course was always their spinach and artichoke dip. They have some really tasty wraps, too.
If you're looking for a strong cheap drink, try their Betty Ford Clinic - a nice big glass of pink lemonade and vodka. Oh man, so good.
Even though it's the oldest of the Lessner family of restaurants, i have less experience with Betty's than Tip Top or Surly Girl Saloon. I've only eaten at Betty's once and gone there for drinks maybe twice.
I consumed the so called hot hot chicken, and while it wasn't hot hot, it was tasty and the side dish was good. The drinks at Betty's are in the middle of the continuum price-wise, and there are plenty of draught beers available.
The decor features pinups prominently and shares a general color motif with its sibling restaurants.
The restrooms at Betty's are perhaps the most aesthetically satisfying parts of the restaurant, thanks to the colorful murals on the walls which are the work of talented illustrator "Bam" Grey, employee of the Surly Girl. Check it out while you're peeing out your paycheck.
Betty's food has a better reputation than the Surly Girl's and its kitchen is open just as late, making it a great choice among a very limited number of non fast food restaurants that serve late.
One of my favorites for vegetarian options in Columbus. Usually I am limited to one or two dishes on a menu, but Betty's has a large variety of vegetarian and vegan entrees. The decor is fun and the small size makes it intimate. The drinks, appetizers, and entrees are all interesting. My personal favorite is the vegan shrooms, but the ramen noodle bowl and Steve's Afternoon Delight (delicious homemade potato chips topped with tomatoes and a cheese sauce) are also great. I thought the burrito was a bit bland, but what's one miss on a menu full of hits?
Definitely one of the Short North's best and one of my all-time favorites.
Dinner and drinks at Betty's is a nice treat for me! Not that they put a big hole in your pocket book ($7 to $14), but because I really like getting dressed up and going to the Short North for a night out.
The establishment is small and fills up fast during dinner time. Sometimes you'll be asked to wait at the bar, but that'll give you plenty of time to enjoy their crazy cocktails. A Betty Beer is Vanilla Vodka and Root Beer, or try a Tang Martini. That's right, Vodka and Tang (it's strong!).
There are some pretty creative appetizers to choose from. I tried my first fried plantains here! Dinners taste great, even though most of it is comfort food. Nothing beats the mashed potatoes. Sometimes there are specials, and a particular Sunday offered up "Surf and Turf" for only $16, which was a great piece of Ahi Tuna with a peppered Steak. Mashed potatoes and green asparagus rounded out the meal and I felt very satisfied.
My only complaint comes from agreeing with Julia. I hate barstool seating, and while I realize that Betty's uses barstool seating because of the size, it doesn't make eating my meal very comfortable.
I found this place looking for a non-chain non-corporate restaurant (and hopefully it is) to support while I'm in Columbus. The staff was attentive, the food was solid, and the prices were very reasonable. We had a mix of things all over the menu in our party of four and everyone was stuffed and happy with the meals there.
Definitely a good option if you are looking for something casual and chill.
Betty's is a quaint little place right in the heart of the Short North on High St. It's one of the more popular restaurants in the area and the oldest of Liz Lessner's line of restaurants, which also includes Surly Girl and Tip Top. But truth be told, I like the other ones better, I think. Maybe Tip Top and Betty's are a tie. I like Tip Top's food better. Betty's has the better location. Neither can hold a candle to the awesomeness that is Surly Girl.
But anyway, I do like Betty's. It's very close to my house so I have some easy access - a nice place to walk for lunch on a summer afternoon. But if you're driving, you'll have to find a spot at a meter on High somewhere. Good luck. Betty's is really small, right on the corner of Brickel St. The outside is painted white and there's a large glass window so you can see people at tables inside. You have to enter through a door that's in the front off the sidewalk, but you turn to the right to enter. If that makes any sense.
I'm not a huge fan of Betty's decor. There's all these pictures of lovely women in 40's or 50's style hairdos and clothes, which is fine. But it also gets weird. Everything is sort of pastel colorful. And above the bar there is this huge shelf filled with ceramics of kittens and animals and weird baby doll looking things. Frankly, it frightens me a little. I don't prefer to sit at the bar here because I don't like staring at those things. Plus I feel like they're watching me. One time we sat here for some drinks and I didn't feel relaxed the whole time. But the drinks are good here. They make up some creative mixed drink options that are fun to try. One time I tried some kind of blueberry electric lemonade concoction that was really tart and tangy. But great in the summer. They have a TV or two up by the bar, but this is definitely not a good place to come and catch a game. The TV is nothing special and it's quite small. But the bar does have a pretty good selection of beers and is a fun place to hang out for a while. Just don't look up at the creepiness....
But on the plus side, the staff is nice and and bartenders are friendly and fun to talk to. It's a pleasant place to be if you can get past the decorative figurines. Their menu is a lot like Surly Girl's. They have salads, sandwiches, pastas, dinners (pork chops, etc.), soups, and they even serve brunch/breakfast here. They don't have pizzas like Surly Girl does, or Tip Top's sweet potato fries. It's kind of middle-of-the-road cuisine. I am not positive on this, but I'm not even sure if they have any kind of dessert. I've never seen any on the menu. I've only tried a few things here, but they've all been really good. I have yet to have brunch here. My favorite is the Surly Girl Salad. Yes, I tried it because it's called Surly Girl. So sue me. Anyway, it's red onions, cranberries, chunks of cheese, pecans and you can get it with grilled chicken on top, which I do. It's served with their vinaigrette dressing and that completes it - it's delicious! It's also served with pita wedges, which I heartily enjoy. I always like Betty's for lunch because I like to get this and it's the perfect lunch. I've also had the Tortilla Soup and it was really good. I was quite impressed with it.
Last time we were here, my boyfriend got the meatloaf and didn't like it very much. He said it was very dry and sort of tasteless. He did really like the mashed potatoes that came with it. I think a lot of items on the menu are hit or miss. Choose carefully.
I don't think the prices are too bad, but it can get a little pricey. For example, the small salad that I always get is $6, but to get chicken on top, it's an extra $3. And the portion isn't big enough to take any leftovers home. Meanwhile, the dinners are around $10 or so, but the portion sizes aren't all that big, either. At least, not the dishes that I have seen. One time I did have some salad to take home, but I got the bigger size of Surly Girl salad, which was $8 ($11 with chicken).
The restrooms are...different. They are small but clean and inside the women's restroom I remember it was painted bright Pepto Bismol pink with paintings of women on the walls. It's certainly an interesting little place.
I would highly recommend avoiding Betty's around Gallery Hop or busy dinner times during the weekends. It's really small in here and can get uncomfortably crowded. On the other hand, if you can't get a table right away, you might find yourself with a very long wait to be seated. Overall, it's a fun place to go for lunch. Then it tends to be a lot less crowded and it's bright and sunny in here during the day because that big window in the front lets in a lot of light. I like it a lot but I tend to find myself at Surly Girl if I want this kind of food. Especially for dinner. It's so similar, but if you're not into the darker atmosphere of Surly, then this might be the perfect place for you.
Betty's is a Short North staple, for good reason. It's a small bar with a full food menu, and people readily seek out Betty's for both the food and the drinking.
The beer selection is good and includes regional microbrews (mmm Bell's) and imports (mmm Fin du Monde), as well as PBR and the like for the hipster crowd. Mixed drinks are also well-made - Betty Beer (root beer and vanilla vodka) is a tasty suggestion, and their Bloody Marys are a nice addition to a weekend lunch here.
The fairly broad selection of American food (with ethnic accents) is tasty, well-presented, and reasonable ($7-12), and Betty's is a common suggestion for dinner among people I know. Vegetarian options are sufficient and also good.
A pleasant place to visit for almost any occasion, but very small and really not appropriate for any group larger than four; even with a small group, going at peak times is a tricky proposition, as there isn't really even a waiting area.
Betty's was my first experience dining in the Short North. First advice- never come here on a weekend between 6-10pm. You will NOT get a seat! We waited an hour and a half for a table, but unfortunately we had a group of 6 so that took longer. Apparently, for parties of 2 its much easier to get seated. The only annoying thing was that the host ignored us and said our wait wouldn't be long [ha!]. We didn't mind though- Betty's has an amazing bar. Its one of the only places that carries a lambic on tap, one of my personal favorites.
Their menu also carries a wide selection of homestyle favorites [the meatloaf sandwich is out of this world!] as well as many vegetarian/vegan selections [our main reason for going- one of our friend's girlfriends is vegetarian]. I had the special, which was corned beef and cabbage- which was great! We also had the homemade kettle chips as an appetizer which was perfect while we waited for our food.
I would definitely go back to Betty's again, but probably during the week and before 5pm. One dish I definitely want to try is the Vegan Shrooms, so I'll definitely go back for that!
These reviews don't lie! This restaurant is absolutely phenomenal! It's one of the best in the Short North! The falafel is to die for and the meat loaf sandwich is fantastic! Everything I've had is flavorful and absolutely top notch. I wholeheartedly recommend Bettys!
This is Daniel Johns, the lead singer of Silverchair's favorite Columbus restaurant! And I completely agree. Great vegetarian fare and cheap drinks!
Liz Lessner scores again! BRAVO!
Betty's has comfortable comfort food and some healthy alternatives. Plan to dine off hours or spend some time at the bar. The staff is extremely friendly and the dining experience is usually worth the wait.
Personal favorites are Steve's Afternoon Delight (Home Made Potato Chips topped with Roma Tomatoes, Cheese and Green Onions), Hot, Hot Chicken, the Mushroom Pita, and the Fresh Green Bean Side Dish.
T
All i have to say is get the mac'n'cheese or the brunch sausage egg cheese croissant with jalapeno mayo. This place has never failed me.
Let me tell you about the healthy choices here- the veggie salad is COVERED IN CHEESE AND RANCH DRESSING. Saturated. What vegetables were on it were fine but it was kind of sad overall for a 'healthy choice'. Everything we ordered had tons of cheese on it except the mac and cheese, which was strangely lacking cheese flavor. Curious.
Honestly, seems more like a bar then a restaurant to me. Have moderately interesting pin up drawings on the wall- nothing too risque. Was filled with OSU students & their parents the sunday we were there...
Maybe more of a place for a snack then a meal? That might add a star if I experienced it that way instead of "dinner".
I've only been here briefly, & wasn't certain about many of the items on the take-out menu I used to order. Deciding to play it safe, I stuck with a club. To my surprise, the sandwich was OFF THE HOOK, though the price not so amazing. Nine whole dollars for a sandwich, hmmm. Plus if you dine in you'd have to figure in tip. And a number of items were priced higher. Additionally the place had a slight saloon feel to it with quite a limited number of tables; nothing extraordinary, nor inline with the prices on the menu.
On the bright side, the brunch menu, which if I recall correctly is served 'til 2 Sat/Sun's, looked AMAZING. Have yet to go back to experience it, but it's def on my list.
Great menu variety, reasonably priced and just a comfortable place to eat. I am not a veggie but some of my friends are and they always rave about how great the vegetarian options are here.
Good beer selection, service has always been fantastic. Even works as a date spot. Highly recommended.
Its a bar, and its a tiny bar. The food is awesome, the decor rocks, and the drink menu is swell. Basically everything you could want from a hole-in the wall joint. The music rocks too so yeah... Now to address some of the nay-sayers... You live in a large-ish metropolitan area. You need to learn to expect a wait if you go out during prime-time. Especially if you go to a rinky-dink dive bar with great food. Also its a bar, not a five star restaurant. Service is going to be a little slower. Get over yourself, you're not that important. Besides, after a couple martini's you wont care anyway! By the way, if you selected good for kids on the survey questions, you're retarded.
I am partial to their quesadillas, and if you like crab, it adds to the delight!
Great brew on tap and there's a wide array of stuff to order to satisfy every taste bud.
Don't expect it not to be crowded. This place can get rather busy but you will see why. You get a chuckle out of the names of the dishes that it'll be worth the wait.
Initially, I gave this place 4 stars. However, from our most recent experience on Friday the 13th (yikes!), I would have to knock it down to 2 stars. Sadly enough, the hostess did not appear to be very bright this time around. We waited for over 1 1/2 hours for a table we ended up giving up on...and she said we were 2nd to last on the list. Huh?!! Don't expect much from the Crabby Patty for it's mostly filler and few crab meat....still tasty, but not stellar. The bartender made it up for the airhead hostess and served us graciously. If you really want crab cakes, put on a best dress and go to Lindey's.
Betty's rocks. My vegetarian sister loves it, my mom loves it, I love it. Just don't go with a group because the 6 tables they do have only seat four each. If this place had a dining room to speak of their business would skyrocket. The micro-brews on tap are good but I wish the beer list would change a little more often... If you happen to like a spicy bloody mary try the Tabasco Bloody Mary mix Betty's uses. Dee-Lish.
Associated with the Surly Girl and Tip Top this is my choice of the three. They are a little larger than the Surly Girl but still a bar so you don't feel awkward about talking about odd subjects. Good selection of beers on tap and good food.
What a great downtown place to have lunch. The Basil Mozzarella and Tomato Sandwich was terrific. I can't handle alcohol before 3 but their drink menu sounded tasty.
In terms of place and space, I like Betty's more from the outside than the inside. I've only been once, and didn't much like the stench of stale beer. The food wasn't so terrific (I had brats). The beer was good. Everyone seemed friendly. Of the establishments run by the same owner, I prefer Surly Girl.
This place is the perfect answer to late night food. The service is slow but friendly and worth the wait. I usually order the creamy crab pasta thingie which is delich. Have you had Frambois? They have it on tap!!!!
