BBB, organization does not protect the consumers, only businesses. This agency has no real resolutions for the consumer. The BBB simply collect information about the consumer, which amounts to millions every year. This is a scam organization that protect business and corporations. BBB is useless
for the majority of consumers. Very few consumers receive satisfaction from
this agency and are labeled complainers.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Larry R.Bethesda, MD045Aug 8, 2023
BBB NYC claims to have a complaint dispute resolution process. I submitted my complaint. They asked the business to respond. The business disputed my claim. I requested mediation BUT BBB closed the complaint. This is really not a dispute resolution process. BBB merely accepts what the business says.

I thank you for your service on advocating on my behalf. The justice I have received. I wish all entities were correct, accurate and do the research or point me in the right direction for a resolution. Your assistance has helped me win and receive over $10, 000, of my money goods and service from; American Christian Credit Union, Quick Stop Auto Repair, Grand Used Cars, My Auto Inc., Nuubu, etc. It has been a pleasure to file my complaint and have justice.
Consumers I do not think you know the benefit/value that this business will afford you in your justice to resolve your issues. Other countries do not have this structure.
I am pleased to be in America where I can have my justice and report a business and have them accountable for stealing from me and my family.
You can only do right if you have RIGHT in you. I applaud you for your truth, justice and the American Way.
A forever client and customer....THANK YOU.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Judi G.Inglewood, CA528Jul 7, 2021
I have been doing business with ASAP Travel out of San Francisco and they are the worst company ever. They never answer your email, or call you back. PLEASE do not book a trip with them

Please BBB help me resolve a problem with Touro College. Please add them to your watchlist so that no one else will have to go through what I am now going through.
Touro College is attempting to defraud me. It is a terrible school that tries to cheat its students out of their money to line the pockets of its severely overpaid President. In September of 2015 I registered for and immediately dropped classes. After too many back and forths via email I was finally told that my costs would be reimbursed fully and that I would not owe anything. I just recently received a letter from a collections agency stating that Touro College is STILL attempting to collect money from me.
Anyone who is thinking of attending Touro DO NOT GO.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Phyllis B.Stanhope, NJ0193Jan 27, 2021
BBB Better Business Bureau helped me get refunded by two companies that were giving me the run around. I suggest if you have any problems with a retail item or third party pay, if you can't get a refund write to the BBB. Have all your information about dates order numbers etc. write to them. They ask a lot of questions so have all your information ready. Just relate to them what happened don't get personal about it. They have helped me every time.

Recommendation:
Instead of The Better Business Bureau of Metropolitan (BBB-NY), you're better off calling "ABC 7 On Your Side NY" (917-260-7697) and appealing to their sense of reason. At least, they're willing to contact the business and maybe even BBB-NY to figure out what realities they're living or, rather, operating in.

****My Experience****
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Metropolitan (BBB-NY) regarding CoolFrames.com, and how I ordered a pair of frames--which were allegedly available at their Brooklyn retail location, but were not--on January 3, 2016. It's now January 19, 2016, and I all I have is the combined mathematical genius of BBB-NY ( www.newyork.bbb.org) with CoolFrames.com:
-$116.50 + Apologies from Cool Frames.com + My Confirmation of Apologies but No Frames = Resolved
They somehow concluded that my complaint had been resolved because I sent them and the business (I cc'd the business) the following email:
**Here's the Email**
Good Afternoon, Complaint Analysts and/or BBB-NY Representatives:
I contacted the business this afternoon both via phone and email (dialogue has been maintained), and they (in particular, Calvin J. and Ella) responded promptly and are acting both thoughtfully and diligently to resolve the matter. The expectation is that I receive my glasses before the end of the week.
Upon receipt of the glasses and verification of the order fulfillment, I will claim that my complaint has been resolved.
Thank you for your actions, M.B.!
Sincerely,
Marcus
****My Experience (Continued)****
After reading that, their Complaint Analyst, Mamadou Balde (whom I attempted to anonymize, for he wasn't a representative of a body at fault) somehow concluded that the complaint had been resolved, voided my alleged ability to close the complaint, and closed the complaint for me in cookie-cutter fashion:
**Here's Their (or, rather, Mamadou Balde's) Final Email**
Dear Marcus Somerville :
This is in reference to complaint ID #11092736 about CoolFrames.com. You have confirmed that the response made by the business was satisfactory to you and the BBB has now closed this case as resolved. We are pleased to have been of assistance to you.
As you may know, your BBB is a not-for-profit organization that receives no government funding. Most of the BBB's support comes from our Accredited Business members, but it is not enough to do the job we want to for consumers. In addition to helping resolve complaints as we did for you, we also provide information on the reliability of over 95,000 companies and charities in our area.
Please consider making a donation to the BBB to help us serve you and others in the future. Even a small amount can help us a lot. If you would like to make a donation, please send a check to:

Donations are not tax deductible. They are completely voluntary. If you have asked us to continue working on your case, we will do so whether you make a donation or not.
Thank you for giving us the chance to help you. We appreciate your support.

No, champ, it was neither resolved, hence my use of a conditional (or protasis - in the form of "Upon receipt of the glasses and verification of the order fulfillment") before the main clause (apodosis - in the form of "I will claim that my complaint has been resolved"), and nor will I donate.
****Recommendation****
Do not file complaints with the BBB. Instead, contact (1) the company or retailer directly, (2) the parent company or manufacturer, (3) contact the government (www.usa.gov/email) to see if they're willing to make themselves useful, and (4) take legal action.
However, if you do use BBB, do so only with the expectation of added documentation of your unfortunate and unnecessary experience with a business. Then, take further measures yourself.
(If you have some insight regarding alternative approaches if BBB proves equally as incompetent as the business in question, then please share.) - Ny D.New York, NY61102Feb 6, 2020
Honestly, my lawyer thinks we have a great case against this BBB. At first, we tried to be polite. We responded with fact and documents. We explained that the person complaining had in fact FORGED a document and when we discovered the document was a forgery, obviously we did not accept it. We provided the BBB representative with that office's manager's name, email and phone number. Obviously, the person who forged the document was not satisfied, so I get a second message from this "representative" (wait until I get to that part). It basically says if I don't make this person, the one who committed a CRIME!, happy they will lower my BBB rating. To me, seems like extortion. But I tried to reason with them, so I called. NO ONE EVERY ANSWERS. The "representative" didn't give me a direct number. In fact, they don't seem to even really exist, they are NOT in the directory and we went through every letter in the alphabet! Frustrated, I talked to a lawyer. He said (1) forgery is a crime, (2) using a forged document to defraud a corporation is a crime, and (3) the BBB disregarding these facts and publishing a fake and libelous account and lowering our rating is the same as being an accomplice in the continuance of an attempt to defraud a corporation. So, if you guys read this, maybe, just maybe, you hire people who have no idea what they are doing and you don't really want to get dragged into this. So you CAN reach out to me. But if you don't do so QUICKLY and I see that fake and libelous account published and my rating is "downgraded" I will get this very anxious lawyer to proceed.

I had a bad experience with a jeweler in Lee Massachussets. His name is Mohammed Zabian and the name of the store is Zabian Jewelers. His address is 15 Main Street, Lee Mass 01238.
I purchased an expensive Movado watch from him which was supposedly new. I realized the next day when I got the watch home that the band on it was really too difficult for me to put on every day. I returned the watch to him immediately thereafter asking for my money back or a credit for another watch. He refused my request stating that the watch had "scratches" on it. There is no way that i could have done this to the watch in 24 hours so the only explanation is that the watch was used when i bought it. I only wore the watch for 10 minutes total since the time of purchase and return. As soon as i realized the situation, the watch went back in the box where it was safely kept until it was returned to the merchant.
This merchant is disreputable and violated my rights as a consumer. His business should be investigated by the Better Business Bureau for unethical practices. Thank you Louis H. 917 750-9518.

In my past life of adult life, after printing a complaint form along with a written formal complaint of Levitz Furniture of Farmingdale, NY my former love and I were completely dismayed with the shipping and handling performance of our delivery.
Better Business Bureau of Long Island promptly responded to my complaint and notified the business of our dissatisfaction. We were compensated by Levitz with a $50.00 gift certificate, despite of having NO desire to become a repeat client again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
