I initially wasn't planning to look for a wedding dress here because they are much pricer than what I would like to spend. I had taken my sister here a few years back to look for her wedding dress and was just taken aback at the fact that the prices start at $900+. The staff is friendly enough and they're more than willing to help pull dresses for you to try on, but all the while you get a sense that they are sizing you up on how likely they think you'll purchase your dress from them.
I had some difficulty getting them to pull the cut and style that I wanted - it was the usual "everyone looks great in this dress, so you should try it on too" kind of thing. I finally found a dress that could be the one - but I'm not sure if it's because I really like it or because after trying on dozens of dress, it was finally the style I was looking for all along.
The have a store wide "clearance" sale in late November every year. I found out about it through sheer luck but found a great designer dress at a ridiculously low price. Check their website regularly in November for details- it usually runs 3-4 days.
I went on Sunday and stood in line with others for about 30 minutes before the store opened. What I liked is that they only let in a few groups at a time so the place was never mobbed. The selection of wedding dresses was very good for a sale experience. (ie- they do not display non-sale items during the clearance days. this is about final sale wedding dresses only).
The consultant was helpful but extremely pushy with all the upsells and add-ons. She defintely tried to convince me of her opinions without letting me decide for myself. That said, I couldn't be more thrilled with the Amsale dress (which I otherwise would never have been able to afford).
Also FYI- this place is not in Baltimore proper. It's in a suburb off of the highway in a small strip-mall esque building.
My sister got her wedding dress here and it was beautiful, but the staff and service after the fact were lacking. Then I went and got my bridesmaid's dresses here, and 2 out of the 5 were sized totally wrong. The customer service was not good and they were NOT nice to the one bridesmaid who was given TOTALLY the wrong size. I'd advise looking elsewhere for ordering for your 'maids, given that they seem to be an afterthought here.....
I don't have much experience in the area of shopping for a wedding dress...and actually, this was the first ever store I walked into to try one on, but I was impressed both by their selection - rooms of beautiful choices, and their service. I didn't have an appointment and they were closing in less than an hour, but they still set me up with a consultant and let me try on several gowns. Plus, they also have bridesmaid dresses, shoes, and veils - so everything you would need. Try here first...you may not need to go to any other bridal shops!
