My husband and I always thought our wedding would be free of cliches ... but there was one that we couldn't escape - besides those embarrassingly drunk guests ;) ....
We stayed a couple of nights down in Oakhurst before moving into a rental house for a 4-day wedding weekend. The Best Western in Oakhurst was a great base of operations. The property was pretty cool - split up in several buildings up on a wooded hillside. Our room was affordable and had a nice little deck, which I loved - and both indoor and outdoor pools/hot tubs. wheeee! But what really made this place special for us was what happened after we left Oakhurst.
When we arrived at our rental house and began unpacking, I realized I was missing a little something .......... our wedding rings. Our absolutely perfect and gorgeous wedding rings that were custom made for us by my sister-in-law. As Lindsay Lohan would say, my stomach fell out my butt. I looked high and low, through all our bags and in the car, but no dice.
Then I realized that I had tucked our ring boxes into the desk drawer back at the Best Western - I wanted to keep myself from losing the rings while we were out exploring Yosemite ... great idea. I called the hotel, only to be told that the housekeeping staff hadn't turned anything up and they had all gone home for the night. My heart sank ... then I asked the woman on the phone (Jan!!) if there was any way she could possibly go herself to check in the room. She kindly obliged, and asked me to call her back in 15 minutes.
10 agonizing minutes later, I called her - not only did she find the rings (and ummm a bunch of other stuff I had put in that drawer - whoops), but she turned out to be a good, honest person, who actually told me she found the rings instead of whisking them away to the pawn shop. I LOVE YOU, JAN! She even arranged for a friend of ours to pick up all the articles we left and kept everything safe until he could get there. Service like that makes you believe there's hope for the human race, right?

For the price, this motel is a good place to stay in Oakhurst. The rooms are large and very clean. We've stayed here many times before.
This time, we had a room with 2 queen beds. We stayed in one of the beds the first night that was really uncomfortable. The next night we stayed on the other bed and it was better.
The air conditioner pops on and off during night which always bothers me. Also had issues with the internet connection. Most of the time it performed like dial-up.
That said, the grounds are really nice! They have an indoor pool and hot tub that we used.
We might stay here again. Going to try the Shilo Inn right next door.
The prices are very reasonable (downright cheap, compared to staying in the park), the staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the grounds are very nice.
We couldn't try the restaurant as it was under renovation, but there are lots of nice places to eat nearby.
Very reasonable for the Yosemite area. Nice place with nice grounds. I stayed 2 nights while visiting Yosemite. My room was clean and connected to my travel partner's room. It has the usual pool plus a sauna & spa, but I wasn't there to relax, just to crash at night. It was more than adequate. The air conditioning works very well (froze one night until I was awake enough to realize I can turn it down). The bathroom was clean and my room had two sinks; a vanity sink and a bathroom sink. My only pet peeves were the lack of little shampoo & conditioner bottles & pen. I like my "freebies" and the dispensing machine in the tub/shower area was cheap to me as was the golf pencil I was left to write with. For $95 a night, I want my wee shampoo & pen d*mn it :-) But make no mistake, I would stay longer anytime. There is a restaurant on premise with reasonable prices. I ate breakfast there & got 20% off my meal (which was very tasty) since I was a hotel guest. Being from NYC, I loved the wood-carved Statue of Liberty (redwood or sugar pine) which was quite large. The place is a little country kitch, but considering location, it was easily overlooked or "absorbed".
We went in early December. The prices are great. The convenience of the indoor pool, exercise room and other amenities really made it great. As an extra bonus, it was pet-friendly. We brought our dog. The staff were nice and kind to the whole family. We are planning on returning more often. Also, there are shopping centers, gas stations and a theater near by.
The grounds of this place definitely made it the best moderately priced place I've ever stayed. The property is perched on a hill, and we were near the top, across from a really nice indoor swimming pool (and spa, sauna, and waterfall). We enjoyed following the paths which wound around all the buildings, which led to a gym and an outdoor pool.
There was also a Western decor lodge inspired lobby nice enough that I would have considered plunking down there on a sofa just to read a book or do a crossword.

The staff at the front desk were nice. This hotels allow pets, so it is very convenient for dog lovers. When I walked into the room, the bathroom was kind of old and it smelled weird. The rest of the room was quite clean and comfortable. There was an indoor pool and spa which was across my room. The water was VERY VERY smelly and dirty and you got a lot people who bathe in there. It is definitely worth is for the price of $66 / night. Good location and food all around the place.
Note: 4 stars for what it is, not 4 out of 5 stars on a luxury hotel scale.
Last Friday around 4:30pm I decided I HAD to go to Yosemite this weekend. I went online and found this place for $51 a night. I booked the room for two nights, called them up and said I would be checking in very late and took off. Five hours later I was pleasantly surprised with my accommodations. The bathroom left something to be desired, but the sheets were clean, the carpet was new and the microwave clock was blinking.
Like I said before, from what I expected to what I got - I was really pleased. There was a free cereal, muffin, toast and hard boiled egg breakfast each day and a nice toasty heater.
My only complaint was the bathroom. They did not offer individual shampoos, just a high school gym dispenser, which left a germaphobe like me a little grossed out. Flip flops in the tub are recommended.

THREE DIAMONDS!!! Surprising for a Best Western, but definitely worth the accolades.
We decided to take our American Eskimo to Yosemite for his second birthday and they took in pets. It was perfect! We got a corner room on an upper level with a balcony and overlooking the pool. The facilities were clean surrounded by nature, and they had plenty of parking. They are centrally located, 30 mins from the Yosemite gate, and two blocks from Erna's Elderberry House (yumm!). -- stars based on category, not food.
We selected tihs hotel for a brief visit to Yosemite because for a reasonable price we could get 3 queen beds and spread out ... compared to the two doubles we would get at most places. It was very nice, quiet, spacious ... a real surprise based on past recollections of Best Westerns, which I thought of as pretty cramped as a rule if not noisy. The restaurant was very good as well.
Good price. Clean. Pool (for those who want to go swimming instead of going to Yosemite. Close to the park. Tons of food places around it.
For the price, this was a great place to stay. Room was clean, although the decor was a little less modern and a lot more grandma. We would have liked an earlier check in, but the place was full the night before and couldn't guarantee one. No continental breakfast or perks, but a great budget hotel for those looking to explore Yosemite. Parking was plentiful and the air conditioning was a real treat after an afternoon in the sweltering heat.

Great place to stay when in Oakhurst. This is not San Francisco, people, so don't think you're getting that kind of 4 star treatment. The suites, up at the top of the hill, are very nice. Large rooms, air conditioned for summer, warm heater in the winter, are clean and well furnished. Views from the rooms are very calming.
The Best Western Yosemite Gateway Inn was a great place to stay. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. We chose to stay in this hotel for our honeymoon vacation to Yosemite and were not disappointed. The hotel has an outdoor pool and spa as well as an indoor pool and spa with a decorative waterfall. There is also a coin operated laundry facility on-site, a gift shop, and a restaurant. Some of the rooms have Yosemite themed murals. We stayed in room 104 and did not have a mural but instead had a nice patio. Unfortunately, the sliding door was off track so we didn't use the patio at all. If you are staying at this hotel while visiting Yosemite I would recommend stopping at the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad (http://www.ymsprr.com/) to take a ride on a real steam engine or just browse their book shop and gift shop. You can also check out their museum and pan for gold.
