Ahh vacation.

Sure it's Sonora, but hey, I will take it!

We got a king bed smokers room.

Upstairs. Yuck. Thank heaven for the husband and his strong arms that can carry all my shit up the stairs.

The room was clean. First thing we did was check for bed bugs. Seriously. We both have a germ phobia, I guess. Good news, no bed bugs found.

There was a giant footprint in the tub, that didn't ever come off.

The HBO channel was horrible to watch, a lot of static. Not sure why.

I brought up my laptop and had no problem logging on to the Wi-Fi. I have the card thingy in my computer so I didn't have to check out anything, which was nice. The connection was not as fast as mine at home, but it still worked fairly quick.

The Continental Breakfast is a rip off. Every other hotel that I have stayed in has a completely sucker free continental breakfast. You know what I mean, they set up toasters, cereal and danish plates in the lobby, you grab what you want and leave. That is what I expected, but we had these little tags to take to the restaurant next door. Umm, ok. Shit, I should've put on make up! They make you actually wait for a table, keep in mind, this is Sunday morning. They had you this little paper menu with like 5 items on it.

One cold hard boiled egg. Danish. Blah blah blah. No explanation if you only get one or multiple. If you choose to actually order a meal, you get $2.00 off per person. Of course we ordered a meal. Since I am already sitting down in a restaurant, I don't want a piece of toast and fruit cup. I want some breakfast. Too bad the restaurant sucks. Really. We have eaten here several times over the years and last weekend was the very last time we will eat there again. The food is bland and boring.

The front desk gals were pleasant and friendly. They gave me a free candy bar to review the hotel on trip advisor. Little did they know that I am a Yelper!

If you're looking for a place to spend the night then this is the place for you.

But if you're into the amenitites like I was looking forward to then sorry.....you'll be sadly disappointed.

Got the internet Vday special for around $125.99. This package includes a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates. We didn't get a box of chocolates but 3 pieces each of Ferrero Rocher in our empty wine glasses.

Speaking of the wine glasses, they were DIRTY! I could see lipstick marks AND the line of the bubbly from the last person to use these glasses. Gross! I had to wash the glasses right away.

Wanted to go in the hot tub at night. Had to walk to the front desk and ask for towels for the pool. They were TINY towels. It was the size of a hand towel! Changed into our suits and walked downstairs holding the champagne, glasses, and chocolates. Our side of the gate entrance was locked. What?!?! We had to walk to the other side which meant we had to walk on dirt and rocks AND we had to walk past someone's deck in the DARK.

Ok.....we made it in one piece. We open the gate and walk in. The first thing I saw was the swimming pool was taped off with yellow caution tape. Ok that's fine.....it's too cold to go swimming. I looked into the pool and there was piles of brown everywhere on the pool floor. What is that?!?! I look closer and it was piles of brown leaves that had been soaking in the pool and sunk to the bottom after who knows how long.

We walk to the hot tub and look in. There was dirt, bugs, and debris floating and bubbling all around the hot tub. GROSS!  I don't know if they even CLEAN the pool and hot tub. There goes my plan of sitting in the hot tub sipping on champagne and eating chocolates. Some Valentine's weekend huh?

We slowly made our way back upstairs and watched tv while drinking our champagne and eating our chocolates. Bummer.

We got vouchers for free breakfast at the restaurant in the parking lot. You choose from a tiny CONFUSING paper menu or you get like $2 off anything else on their menu.  I chose the free breakfast option. It didn't have any instructions on how to order. I just assumed you choose one from each category. I asked our server if that was the case but it wasn't. If you chose something from one category, you can choose 2 from another category. But if you don't choose an item from one category, you can choose 3 from the bottom category. Then she mentioned that if I chose more than one item from each category they won't say anything about it. What!?!? I just chose 2 or more from each category and see when she would stop me. Hahaha!

Hubby got the chef omelette special. He didn't really like it but I thought it was good. He also ordered a glass of OJ and that didn't come until the end of our meal even though we asked for it a few times.

Our table didn't have any condiments and I had to steal them from the next table.

Service was friendly but SLOW. I don't recommend eating here. There are other dining options in the area even though you might need to drive a bit to find it.

I would stay here again if I needed to.

It'll do.

WHAT?
The free wi-fi requires a certain number of cards or some monkey business.  You can also use the free computer in the lobby during certain hours.

OK
Rooms are fine.  They do the job.  Pool and a hot tub open until 10pm... okay.

EAT'N
There might be some good places nearby... don't know... went to the attached restaurant out of pure laziness.  :)  This is the type of restaurant where you figure there might be something they do well... I couldn't find what that might be and I tried to be careful about it.

With the room, you get a free Crapintinental breakfast... or you can order off the menu and save 2 dollars... okay.

OVERALL
Not good, not bad.  It'll do.

Great place to stay if you're heading to Dodge Ridge.  About 30 min from the mountain and on the way from the Bay Area. If you pre-pay, the rate is really reasonable. Breakfast is included, and it is pretty good and filling to power you through a morning of skiing.

If you go, definitely check out the Karaoke Bar and belt out your favorite western. Just make sure you don't take the bartenders favorite song.  Also, don't make my mistake and order a glass of wine -- guaranteed it will come from a box that they proudly display on the bar.

Decent lodging.

There's a sign out front that reads "Voted Best Hotel/Motel of Tuolumne".  If that's true, I'd hate to see what the other places look like.

What I liked best about my stay here was the free HBO (because there's really not much to do here after 9) and the microwave & refrigerator (because there aren't any open restaurants past 9pm!! )
