I was booked into this hotel by my company's travel agent (I was in town for a conference) and had no idea what I was walking into. When I checked in, I was upgraded to a suite -- I'm guessing because the other rooms were full. The suite was very nice, including a small seating area with it's own tv and mini-fridge, and a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom.

They also have a free continental breakfast delivered to your room. It's not fine room service quality, but it's free breakfast delivered to your room, so you can't really complain that much.

$140 for a AAA rate in Sonoma ain't half bad friends.  They allow dogs here too!  One might think to themselves.."Self. Why would I want to stay in a dog hotel?" Most people don't like to be in the dog house, but get up in it.
This dog house won't punish you with less than average hotel charm.  The website DOES do it justice. It IS that nice of a Best Western.  We got upgraded to a King Suite because our room wasn't ready at check in time.  The bed was comfortable and I didn't try to grab the comforter across the room with my big toe because it didn't look nasty.  Very clean overall.
Good game.

While the location is convenient, the amenities may not be worth the price (we paid $240 for a double in August).

We did enjoy the breakfast (upscale continental with nice pastries) and the pool and spa, but were a bit crowded out buy some unruly kids and guests.  The walls were also thin and the courtyard carried noise up to the rooms.   The parking was also limited and we were forced to park in an overflow lot in the far back.

A decent option is you have cash in your pocket and want the close proximity to the square, otherwise I would keep looking.

For a Best Western, this place is "deluxe!" - especially if your a pet owner!

We stayed here this past weekend, along with my sis's 2 80-lbs chocolate labs and they accommodated us with pleasure (its recession, why wouldn't they? =))

The pet fee: $45

We got 2 rooms and they both were really nice and "plush" for a BW.

Great location and nice amenities.

* CONS: Though unfortunately, the boy and I were stuck downstairs and the people upstairs, seemed like they were playing soccer or wrestling. The whole room would vibrate and it seemed like there was an earthquake through every step. It was crazy! It's the luck of the draw. Just a fair warning...especially if your trying to get some good Z's...

Other than that...I'm impressed and would probably keep this place in mind for our next, quick getaway weekend.

This hotel is very convenient and pretty nice.  It's overpriced during the busy time of year (September) but that is expected.  Most people who came for our wedding stayed here and I don't think anyone had a bad experience.  The location is the biggest plus and the coffee in the lobby was actually really good, Starbucks brewed.  The one minus is that they wanted to charge us $5 per bag for them to hold our "welcome" bags behind the front desk and give them out as people checked in.

A friend of mine came in from NY and wanted to go to Sonoma so after some research I tried this place.  Mixed thoughts on this:

1. Good location and actually did all our winery visits by foot (though Buena Vista was a good hike!)

2. Way over priced, paper thin walls, and not much better than any other Best Western except for the Duraflame log.

3. Great little cafes and watering holes around the downtown square area.

Maybe I had my hopes set too high since my experience wasn't as great as fellow yelpers but decent nonetheless.  The room was nice, service was pleasant but it  is what it is - a Best Western.  The room still kinda has a motel feel, particularly the bathroom was a little stark and sterile.  The room was nice, smelled a tad on the stale side.  The patio area was quaint, it was a warm night so we didn't use the fireplace but all in all it was a good room for a good price.  Bed was super comfy - I'll give 'em that.

The Square is only a block away and there is a Whole Foods and Longs RIGHT across the street - great for the traveler needing some last minute items.  Continental breakfast was basic, it is nice having it delivered to your door.

What an amazingly gorgeous room!!
(Note: this review is SOLELY for the SUITES... don't know about their regular room.)

I've stayed at the Sonoma Mission Inn, which is a Fairmont Hotel.

On this visit to Napa,  we needed four suites - - and the Mission Inn's rate for us was $850 per night.
Uh - - no thanks.

Looking around, I decided to call the Sonoma Valley Inn - - and the group sales director gave us a great rate.  That said - I was very skeptical of the quality of the room.  This is, afterall, a Best Western Hotel, versus the Fairmont's Sonoma Mission Inn.  I was nervous given the fact that 3 couples were counting my research and planning, and booked this room based on my recommendation.

There is no comparison as far as service or the lobby goes.
In fact, there's really no comparison -  EXCEPT the room.

The Jacuzzi Suite that we all got was TOTALLY comparable to the $850 Mission Suite at the Fairmont.  In some respects - better!

What the two rooms, almost $600 apart in price, had in common:
- Huge Living Room
- Fireplace w/ ample logs/Duraflame
- Balcony
- Jacuzzi inside the room, with clear view to the bedroom and living room, and one side to the bathroom
- Everything you can need to open and enjoy a bottle of wine (it IS Napa, afterall)
- Romantic Ambience
- Toiletries from the Spa available in the room
- Full service spa, though I cannot compare the quality of the two.
- Mini-Bar
- Coffee Machine

What the Mission Inn had that the Valley Inn did NOT offer:

- Room Service  - excellent one, at that....
- Bigger Patio w/ better view (Valley Inn's patio overlooked the houses across the street)
- Slippers
- Robes
- Better towels
- Complimentary bottle of table wine
- Outstanding lobby, with bar and wine tasting, lots of guest assistance, and a fabulous concierge
- Uniformed staff, and more than one of them at the front desk.
- Valet Parking
- Undoubtedly the most amazing shower I've ever used in my life - Valley Inn's shower was dual head, but old and lackluster
- Incomparably better grounds
- Topnotch restaurant, in-house

That said, what the Valley Inn had that the SMI did NOT have:
- Free Wireless
- Amplifier, Stereo, surround sound option that would play music and TV through the entire suite
- TWO televisions, one for the bed, and one for the living area
- Mood lighting (dimmers)
- LOCATION -  just a block away from the main street in Sonoma

For the best service - you have to opt for the Fairmont.

But for a nearly comparable room with a lot of additional goodies that the Fairmont does not offer - Sonoma Valley Inn is a good replacement.  You don't get the concierge, or the room service, but unless that is worth $600 per day to you - - - this strangely excellent Best Western is a good substitute, especially during peak season.  It's location, if you have any intention of hanging out in Sonoma, also can't be beat.

They accepts dogs, and include a "continental breakfast" with your rate.  I opted out of it, but my friends said it was just a muffin and juice, or something basic like that.

Truly a gem in Sonoma. If you want reasonable prices and great location you should book here. I reserved a room in December for my Boyfriend's birthday and when we showed up (early might I add) they were ready to accommodate us as well as offer us a complementary suite upgrade! I was so jazzed you don't even know. We got an amazing room for 1/2 the retail rate, complementary breakfast, and a bottle of wine to enjoy BY THE FIRE! The staff was extremely helpful and I felt as if we were treated like Royalty. Next time I am in town, I won't think twice on where to stay.

YULE LOG!

Like Greg Q. states, "The Best Western in Sonoma is great...for a Best Western."  I was a little hesitant when my friends said that we would be staying at a Best Western for our trip to Sonoma for April in Carneros.  To my surprise, it wasn't all that bad.

The rooms are large and comfortable.  There is a fireplace that come with a Duraflame log.  Of course you can't have a motel without a pool, jacuzzi, outside bathrooms and even a small fire pit.  Oh...I didn't see them but I was told there was even a washer and dryer poolside.  If you'd like direct access to the pool, make sure you acquire a bottom floor room.  These rooms have a gate right off your back patio!  All rooms come with a mini fridge as well.

Unlike other continental breakfasts, you can pre-order yours from a menu and have it delivered to your room in the morning.  Yes, I said delivered.  Your best bet however is to stick to the fruit and cereal.  The Apple Bran Muffin I had was suuuuper dry, and the hard boiled eggs where not inedible, but a little questionable.

Service here is very prompt.  We had needed two extra towels for the bathroom and within two minutes, housekeeping was at our door.

From here, you're located only 2 blocks from the square, and there is a Wholefoods, Longs, and Safeway ac cross the street.  If you're looking for a hearty meal, check out Black Bear Diner across the street.  Huge portions for not a lot of money.

The Best Western in Sonoma is great...for a Best Western. And that will always be the defining caveat for this motel.

The rooms are large, but garish. The complex is shaped like a horseshoe, so every room has a front door that opens on to the parking lot and a back patio facing the pool in the center courtyard. Great if you have kids, tough to sleep in if you don't. If you have kids, get a room on the ground floor, so you have direct access to the pool. Because the pool is surrounded by rooms, it never gets much sun for long. We were there over Labor Day, and it was downright cold in the water/poolside for all but two hours of the day.

They forgot the complimentary, in-room breakfast one morning,  and got it wrong the next. Of course, the staff is nice, and they fixed it both times - but I still like it better when I don't have to constantly work for what I wanted in the first place.

The best thing this motel has going for it is the location: it's a two block walk from the Square, and across the street from Sonoma's new Whole Foods. It gets an extra star just for that. If this motel were anywhere else in Sonoma, it'd be just another Best Western.

I LOVE this hotel.  The best best western, ever!   It's affordable, and it's located right in downtown Sonoma so you can walk to dinner and shops.  This place really feels like an apartment complex that you'd love to live in.  Oh, did I mention they accept PETS!  Woof!  The rooms are spacious, most all have fireplaces and decks/patios.  Plus they deliver a free light breakfast to you in the morning.

Pricey for a Best Western, but nice amenities, large rooms, and great location. Well worth not driving home after an afternoon of wine tasting. Book well in advance.
