3 reviews for Best Western of Long Beach
This was my base of operations for last weekend. The rate is slightly higher than I usually like to pay, which is somewhat odd given it's location, but all in all, this is a fine place to stay.
Located on Long Beach Boulevard just south of Pacific Coast Highway, there's not a lot going on in the immediate vicinity. You're across the street from Metro stop, sure, but even without the train, you'd need to drive anywhere of note. There are a couple of OK options within walking distance, but otherwise, the streets are somewhat scant of diversion and entertainment.
The parking situation is a hoot. If a single car is parked in the registration unloading area, no one can get to the above-ground parking area. And the main level of the garage itself fills up super quickly. So chances are you'll have to park below ground, under the swimming pool, and in the tightly twisted confines of a parking areas designed to safe space -- not to be driven. I had to back up and repoint the car many times in order to just make it up the out ramp. Bonus points for building beneath the pool, though!
The hotel itself is nice. The staff at the front desk is friendly, if a bit slow. The rooms are clean and spacious. And the house staff responds well. When I requested a crib, it was delivered within 30 minutes or less. And other than the linens from the bathroom being taken but not replaced -- and our room not being cleaned in the four hours we were out midday -- I have no complaints.
Oh. No free wifi. There's a computer online in the lobby, but you can't use thumb drives or anything to transfer files. Best bet is to find a nearby Starbucks.
Nice. Just wish there were more going on in the immediate area!

Please note: This one not listed but is on PCH in Long Beach and called the PCH Club Best Western. It is awful! Door didn't lock, electrical outlets for coffee didn't work, counter tops hundreds of years old, worst of all: THE BED SINKS ON THE ENTIRE LEFT SIDE!
3.75 stars..
So I promised myself to start staying at nicer hotels but what could I do? I'm a girl on a budget, and the trip was last minute (plus, i wanted to spend my money on other things--like shopping :)). I decided on http://expedia.com to help me find a decent and cheap hotel to accompany my (broke) sister on her first official grown-up job interview.
I first dreaded going into the room with fear that it would be like the Ramada Limited in Anaheim (see prev. review). But it was actually a bit more than decent, very clean, and checking in/out was speedy. I purposely chose this place for the microwave and fridge (for left-overs--didn't I say I wanted to save said mula on shopping?), and I was happy! Although I coulda sworn expedia said they had a gym, too, but the desk said I must've been mistaken. (What a waste of luggage space! I didn't have to bring my sport bras and running shoes??).
The only real bad thing was on the day we checked out, the housekeeping team decided to vaccuum the hall right outside of our room at like, 8:00 am!!!! Hello!! Couldn't they have waited till 9?
All in all, it was a nice experience. Although I wouldn't have minded staying on the better side of town, closer to the beach & where the store windows weren't protected by gates!!
