i did not have difficulty getting anywhere my entire trip.

until la.

this difficulty includes finding a place to stay for the night.  up until la, i had been frugal enough to spend no more than $18 on any entertaining sight seeing glory, and had free lodging the entire way.

until la.

everything cheap was booked.  well, cheap in my standards.  i then found this place.

it's in burbank smack dab in the center of studios.  free wifi so that i could email or yelp to my little hearts content, and had a great staff.  i know i've said this about the two other hotels i stayed on the trip, but i need to emphasize how great this staff is.

i was exhausted when i got into southern california.  it was nine o' clock their time, midnight mine, and i had spent the past couple days staying up late including my day and night in vegas.  i hadn't adjusted to time zones yet, and it took me a long time to find a vacancy.  luckily, in my phone calls, i found this best western and the woman was so nice that she literally stayed on the phone with me and gave me turn by turn directions until i was standing in front of the check in counter.

it's your average best western, with nice rooms and not too frilly.  and you can't beat the location if you want to explore the city.

i stayed two nights here, since i decided to stay with the city of angels a bit more and absorb the santa monica pier, studios, and catch up with friends.

a bit pricier than the rest of my frugal trip, but still within budget.

I stayed here for my recent visit for "business" (i.e. going to a party).  What you see is what you get. For a decent room rate, you get a decent room.

Pretty unremarkable.  Clean room, if a bit "too" clean what with lots of strong smelling cleaning supplies.

Free WiFi which is really nice.

If you're looking for a place to crash and don't care about much more than that, this could be your place.
