My wife and I stayed here recently as the location is close to a friends new restaurant.
We were very pleased with our room. It was very clean, and had plenty of space. It seemed pretty new, so it is possible we were in a recently renovated room. Unlike another reviewer we thought the free breakfast was pretty decent. The bacon was done decently, and the other choices seemed to be kept fresh and resupplied as needed. It was more than a basic continental breakfast for sure.
We enjoyed some time around the pool, and that area was also clean and appeared well maintained.
The only glitch, and this cost one star, was that we had reserved a king room. The lady that checked us in said that there were king rooms available, but she couldn't get the computer system to allow her to check us into one, even though we'd reserved one well ahead of time. We got tired of waiting and asked if she could check us into another room. She was able to check us into a queen room at the same rate, and didn't offer any apology or even a good explanation.
Overall, it seemed to represent a good value and we'd stay there again.
It is what it is. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and free breakfast. The breakfast is functional, but nothing amazing. Industrial strength scrambled eggs and really thin, weak bacon. They offered potatoes, biscuits & gravy, waffles, cold cereal, and I think oatmeal. Same thing every day. Wireless internet was spotty at best. Hallways are noisy and walls are thin, so you will hear those early morning risers heading out to get a jump on skiing, just as I am sure people heard our kids jumping on the bed and having trouble going to sleep. It is pretty centrally located and I would consider it again in the future, but would also look into other alternatives first.
This place was the half way point for me between when I was staying in dives in Tahoe City and renting houses in Incline Village. Just outside of downtown truckee it's a good value. Clean rooms, internet access, tv, your usual hotel amenities. During the high season it can be packed, but now that Truckee is growing, more hotels are popping up so this might still be good for the budget snow season traveler.
