    Family Friendly!

Tiny but entertaining arcade, movie theater, mini golf, easy buffet breakfast (belgian waffles!) and outdoor pool all say 'Hey, family, come stay here, you'll all have fun!'

The rooms aren't special, but comfy, the staff were consistently nice and just available enough.

The room service meals I ordered were better than I expected, my steak, a reasonable $15 if I remember correctly, was cooked perfectly.

I'd stay here for sure, easy walk (or funny little horsedrawn shuttle) to town, quiet even with the kid friendly activities, it's a great place to stay for less than the places just down the way.

Stayed here for Oktoberfest, was impressed with hotel.  We booked a king bed suite with a whirlpool tub.  The room was a good size, very clean and nice.
Checking in could have been a little smoother.  Check in time is 3pm, we showed up at 2:30pm and our room was not ready.  No big deal but the reception guy told us to come back between "3:30-4pm" for the room.  If check in time is 3, I kinda expect my room to be ready then.
My husband tried the tub, the jets on it were weak.  Those are my only real complaints.  The bed was okay.
I didn't find the walk from this hotel down to the downtown area to be a big deal, it was 10-15 minutes tops.  It's totally flat and easy to navigate.  There was a shuttle available but since the walk was so easy we just did that.
The breakfast buffet is okay, better than most breakfasts that are free.  There was scrambled eggs, waffles, sausage, toast, bagels, cereal, yogurt, fruit, coffee/tea, juice.
We ate at the restaurant for dinner one evening.  The food was decent.  My husband had coconut shrimp which I tasted and liked.  I got a vegetarian dish which was drenched in olive oil but it was still okay.
One solid rave?  The massage "spa" in the hotel.  I had an hour long massage by Katrina and it was VERY good.  I have this completely biased theory that the best massages come from small town places because the massage therapists have to be good to attract and maintain a customer base.  In large cities, the therapist can be "meh" and still get by because they have a larger pool to draw from.  Katrina was excellent and I would not hesitate to get another massage by her if I was in Leavenworth again.

Stayed over Christmas. Midway between spartan and luxurious.

Huge breakfast room served standard economy hotel breakfast buffet fare, to include those funny DIY waffles.

Spanish-speaking maid was (needlessly) afraid of our Alaskan Malamute (the world's worst guard dog breed) and wouldn't enter to clean while we were there: "no perro, no perro!"

I was here for a annual business meeting and conference. The rooms were quite nice, nothing amazing, but what we expected.

The conference facilities were basic but comfortable, and the staff attentive. the only downside being that their WIFI was playing up during our meeting, which was a huge disappointment, as it was part of the point of the meeting.

The food offered for breakfast, lunch and dinner was better than average for this sort of meeting. Generous portion sizes and Bavarian offering to keep in with the theme of Leavenworth.

Overall I would recommend this hotel. Great for business trips, and families. Maybe not for a romantic getaway.

This place is very clean, which is the first concern when staying in a hotel. It has a great theme going inside, with the rest of the town. When you walk lobby it has a nice feel to it, for a Best Western. We had a 3rd floor room and in this building it is more like 2nd floor, so if you book a first floor room here, be prepared, it is downstairs and not on the same floor as the lobby.

On the third floor  they had tables and chairs out that overlook the lobby and the two story fireplace. They have board games at the front desk if you want to borrow one to play, that would be a good spot for it.

Our room had a good view of the Tumwater moutains and the parking lot and covered pool. The room was decorated nice, but tight with a king sized bed. It just seemed sort of small. The bathroom was definitely very small, if you had to close the door, you had to stand out of the way to swing it. I didn't care for that.

We were there for 4 nights and the maids never seemed to make it to our room despite us being gone most days. We'd have to call down to get towels and stuff, but they did not make our bed one time in four days. I have been to lots of hotels and have never had that happen. That was a big deal to me. They weren't taking the trash out either.

On Sunday a maid ignored the 'do not disturb' sign and came right in and kept telling us 'check out' even though we had the room until Monday. i was really not impressed with that either.

They do have little brown bears for sale in the room, complete with adoption papers for $11, if he turns up missing, he will be on your bill, so if you want an nonkidnapped brown bear, take him down to the front desk, where they will offer you a 'fresh' brown bear that hasn't been pawed on by other's before you in that room. They will, also, give you the adoption papers for you to fill out.

The breakfast buffet, when we could get to it, was okay. We made some waffles,  on a Thursday, nobody was really there, but we had to watch as they tried to shake some waffle batter out for us. That was Thursday, as I said and we didn't get to see the breakfast buffet again until Monday. We went out at one point on Saturday morning, early and the line was around the lobby and up the hallway and it stayed that way until closing. The people were bringing their food up to the 3rd floor tables, people were eating on the couches in the lobby and the overflow room because it was so crowded. It wasn't good enough, even free, to stand in that kind of line.

I am not sure I'd stay here again, but it was clean and the beds were kind of hard. I read reviews saying they had nice pillow top mattresses, but our bed was still really hard with a worn spot where people sat on the edges, so I am not sure how long ago they replaced them, despite the claims it was 'recent'.

Got lucky and booked Icicle Inn for our weekend getaway to Leavenworth for fun Bavarian Oktoberfest festivities.  Very clean, convenient, and friendly.

    Location:
It's walking distance to Leavenworth (eh, 10 minute walk) - but if you're feeling lazy, they have a shuttle service too.  Convenient.  I was in a tiny beer-girl outfit, so the shuttle came in handy one day when it was raining.

    Breakfast:
Breakfast was provided - had pancakes, waffles, sausage, eggs, juices - all pretty good.

    Room:
Comfy.  Big bed, fireplace, lounging sofa, fridge, balcony, very convenient.

    And... the bathtub:
Was kinda funny.  They had this peek-a-boo bathtub with shutters that opened up into the living room area... so... if you were to decide to take a bubble bath, your lover could sit in the room and watch you bathe through this "window".  HA!  All your voyeur peeping-tom fantasies can come true here.  (I'm half joking)

Coming to Leavenworth I wasn't sure what to expect at this hotel. The website looked great but sometimes they exaggerate. Well, not this place! I was very impressed with our stay.

There was a million and one things to do at the hotel alone. If you have kids, a hotel like this is a god send. Arcade, mini golf, movie theatre, 2 pools, spa, you name it. The one other thing I want to mention was their breakfast bar. It was one of the best I've ever had. The belgian waffles were delicious.

It is situated between the downtown area and Icicle Creek (hiking, rock climbing, etc). All in all this is a great value if your looking to come to Leavenworth.  I can't wait to bring my family back!

Sitting writing this review in our suite here at the Icicle Inn.

Booking was a little messed up, our original booking had been miss entered.  Bad marks for that.   Check in was prompt - Icicle Inn just on the edge of town, plenty of parking.  Usual coupons to dine and play onsite thrown in as sweeteners.

We got a Suite on the second floor - rate was OK given the room.  Shower, jetted tub, lots of decent mirrors (++ from my wife for this alone)

In the reasonable-sized furnished lounge area there was a little kitchenette, fridge, microwave, coffeemaker etc.  Surprised to see an old-skool TV  - they suck juice and room space.  Private balcony with a table and couple of chairs topped it off.

Secured but free Wifi signal strength was really good, bandwidth good enough for even a little http://Pandora.com to entertain us.

At this point it sounds like a 4 or 5 star review right?  What really sucked about the room - realizing at 1am that we were  right next to the icemaker and drink vending machine.  Both running loud compressors *all night*.  (well at least until I pulled the plug on the loudest machine at about 3:30am)

Given that it was the most expensive rate in the house, placing an icemachine next door is unforgivable.

To add insult to injury, following morning woken up by the almost total lack of soundproofing and our upstairs neighbours running a bath.

    I wouldn't stay here again.

Prior to checking in to the hotel, the hotel sent me 2 different emails to confirm as well as to ask if there was anything additional I needed to make my stay more comfortable. Checking in to the hotel was quick & efficient.

The main living area was much smaller than I expected, but they made up for it with the large bedrooms & 2 bathrooms. Since it was Oktoberfest they offered a shuttle to/from the festival for free and a small fee after 1am. For the shuttle being so close, I didn't quite understand the 20min wait time.

The hotel itself was adorable and fitting to the town. They gave us free tokens for the arcade and "Where The Wild Things Are" was playing in the hotel movie theater. Can't wait for next years Oktoberfest to book here again & wake up to a beautiful view of the mountains in the morning!!

    Great get away place.
Took the train pkg, included the room for 2 nights, shuttle to/fron train & $60 at JJ's for dinner.
Check in was smooth, room nice, rate ok, covered pool ROCKS as did the hot tub.
Breakfast was super hit w/the kids and dinner at JJ's was fine.
Extra points for setting up the breakfast & to go pkg for us to catch the train at 5am.

Ahhhh Leavenworth. Shopping. WIne tasting and food everywhere. But where should one sleep after taking in all the touristy stuff. I know! I know. The Best Western Icicle Inn. Inexpensive and lots to do for kids and kids at heart to. The weather was beautiful and warm. We took a drive alongside Icicle Creek Road and enjoyed the canyon and the river. The location is convenient and location to walk to town.

I have been going here whenever I stay in Leavenworth since I was a teenager, and I have to admit I am always pleased with the Icicle Inn for the most part.

The check in:  Staff is staff, sometimes they are good, sometimes they are bad.  However, they have really started some lovely package deals.  I recommend going online and looking into them.  They will save you some money.

The rooms:  I do rather like their suite.  I like their jacuzzi it is rather nice.  However, watch where you stay and keep away from the pool area.  People are loud and rambunctious at night and do not pay attention to curfew or pool closing times.

The breakfast: DELICIOUS.  Think a malted waffle maker with delicious syrup that you can use as much as you want.  Biscuits and gravy.  Pastries.  Juice.  Toast.  Bagels.  I think there is hashbrowns, and eggs too but don't quote me, I kinda zero in on the waffles.  Warning, one could easily fill you up.  Best part?  It's FREE!

The restaurant:  Good food.  One of the better restaurants in Leavenworth.  Great service.  Good prices, and a cute little train that runs around the top of it.  (The breakfast is served here so you can take a peek of the layout).

Location:  It is right when you enter Leavenworth, of course, like most of Leavenworth getting out of the parking lot is a pain, but its an easy walk to town, and is a good location.

Entertainment:  Pool and hot tub standard.  But right on the property is mini golf, a movie theater (the movie theater is small so nothing to write home about), and an arcade.  The pros: fun, great for kids.  Cons: great for kids so expect some noise in the hotel.

If you want total peace and quiet go for one of the many lodges in Leavenworth, they are really nice too.  But if you want a nice room, a great breakfast, great location and some fun choose here.

I'm giving the Icicle Inn 5-stars, not because it's a "5 star hotel", it is just a Best Western, but because there is no reason not to give it 5-stars.

We arrived early on the day of our reservation and our room was ready, so we were able to check in early. The lady who checked us in was
very informative and professional. They even give you a card for a 20% discount to use for your next visit. After we checked in, I took the stairs up to our room since we were only up one floor. If you need an elevator, they have one centrally located near the lobby.

Our room was quite nice. I wouldn't say it was luxurious, but it was spacious and it did have a mini-fridge (empty so we could use it, my preference) and also a microwave.
We had a king-size bed with a ton of pillows. Since I'm a 0-1 pillow user, I ended up putting all the pillows on my side towards the middle of the bed. The bed was very comfy.
The tv was in good working condition, not much different from my tv at home. Maybe a little smaller.
The bathroom was nothing special. The bath was nice enough for a hot bath. The complimentary toiletries did not include any bath gel, so I didn't get to take a bubble bath. Also, the bathroom did not include a hair-dryer, so if that's something that's important to you, bring your own. There was an additional sink/vanity area right outside the bathroom. That is where you will find the coffee maker. They provided packets of Seattle's Best to brew in your room. Nice.

There is a pool and hot tub for guests to use. When I was there (3-17), there was some sort of tent around the pool, leading me to believe they have the pool open and available to use year-round. The hot tub is quite small and bubble jets did not seem to work. Besides that, the hot tub was open and heated and was very nice to sit in late at night.
This property also provides a complimentary European breakfast buffet. It was quite tasty. It included sliced meats and cheese, biscuits and gravy, hard boiled eggs, and waffles, in addition to the typical continental breakfast offerings (cold cereal, toast, juice, etc.).
The Icicle Inn also provides free wi-fi and they had a computer available to use for those who did not have their own with them. I'm not sure if we're just dorks, but we take our laptop with us whenever we travel. That said, we didn't feel the need to bust it out during our stay here, so I cannot report on how reliable the wi-fi is, but I did see some ladies using the free computer down the hall from our room.

There is free parking. Since we came during the off-season and on a Monday, the town was pretty dead. We were able to park along the main strip when we went into "town", but during the busy holiday season, the Icicle Inn is not located that far from the main attraction, so you could walk. There is also a bus that looks like a train that stops by the hotel that goes into the main part of town as well.

I really think for the rate we paid (I get an industry rate, so I may be somewhat partial) we got a great deal. I looked at a few other options for places to stay and this option was by far the best deal. Lower rate and the free breakfast made the Icicle Inn the obvious best choice. I enjoyed my stay so much that I've already made reservations for November.

It was clean, quiet and a great place to sleep.... The air hockey table next door kept us busy til bedtime...  The "free" breakfast buffet in the morning was great way to start off the day.  Get the waffles... the hard-boiled eggs buried under ice were rubbery!!  As long as there's coffee I'm happy.
