For someone who lives in Santa Monica, this place was a perfect fit for a night with the LA Phil at the Bowl.

I do classy when I'm on vacation- not when I'm 12 miles from home. The room was very clean and there was a little fridge for us to keep our picnic cool while we got ready.

Check in/ and covered parking were a breeze and the staff was very friendly. We were able to walk to the bowl with ease.

The room wasn't bad, kept the noise to a minimum considering the heavy traffic area. Staff was friendly, blah blah blah, so why only three stars?

A few small things that really had an impact on my stay, but be warned, these things may not necessarily impact your's in the same way.

1. No channel guide and they had satellite tv with a huge assortment of channels that I couldn't find because I didn't know I had to switch to channel 66 from 13. I spent most of my trip in the room writing and getting ready for meetings, so tv was essential.

2. There were ants in the shower. Not a huge assortment of them, but five or six that crept out the first night. Not a great thing.

3. The light switch turned off the refrigerator! No sign, no warning, all my food that I had stocked up on for the week, went bad when I awoke to find a warm fridge.

The other Hollywood Best Western is more fun.  This place is clean, near Hollywood Blvd. so you can walk to Mann's Chinese Theater and other tourist spots.

My room was clean and quiet.  Indeed, I had a king size bed and a sleeper sofa.

My biggest criticism of this place is getting into or out of the place.  It's on Highland Avenue near the Hollywood Bowl.  The traffic is fierce!  I arrived in the early evening to check in and waited almost 15 minutes from Hollywood Blvd. to creep up to where the hotel is.   There's only one entrance/exit so you have to maneuver a bit to park, and get your car positioned to exit.

Staff was friendly.  Even though there are signs EVERYWHERE saying "Decals needed for parking or you will be towed" they were cool when I asked if a friend could park for a couple of hours.

Now...one wouldn't expect much from a Best Western right?? .....WRONG!  Although this super snob boutique hotel whore was incredibly upset to be booked into a Best Western on his recent business trip...I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to find this was a decent place..clean..super helpfull staff...and really close to the famous Hollywood Blvd hots spots,,like Highland Mall..Geisha House..Napoleon Perdis...and the Hollywood Wax Museum(I know..I'm a loser)!

So..if you don't mind a mysterious stain here and there, and the over whelming smell of Febreeze...oh ya..and the fact that your room card will be de-magnetized like 60 times...

I recommend it if you're on a budget and want a place close to all the cheesy Hollywood action!

Ok, so this place will never be confused with a Westin, Ritz or Four Seasons, but it is what it is, a solid, servicable hotel.

We stayed here for the Rose Bowl at a very reasonable price (about $130 per night when everything else in the area was at least $200).  The service was prompt and friendly.

The rooms aren't great, but the location is.  It's a 5 minute walk to Hollywood & Highland.

Overall, 4 stars for the value.

I am now a HUGE fan of the Best Western Hotels chain. This specific one in Hollywood, on Highland, is two blocks from Hollywood Blvd, which was fantastic! The room was perfect for me and my two nephews and Mom-I took them to Universal Studios and the hotel was literally a hop, skip, and a jump away! The room itself had all of the amenities needed to keep a family-especially with young kids-happy! It had the coffee (not that I needed it much-the kids was enough caffeine for me thankyouverymuch), the microwave, ample room. The staff WAS FANTASTIC. I was at the Hilton in Woodland Hills the previous two nights and the staff at the Best Western COMPLETELY BLEW THEM AWAY with their more than superior customer service. They were SUPER friendly, with a number 1 emphasis on customer care/service. THAT staff knew exactly how to treat their guests, and I have dealt with many a hotel staff in even the higher end tourist hotels in Paris, London, and Rome, and this group surpasses all of them 100% with flying colors! When I stay at a hotel, I expect the best service because I am not at home-outside of my comfort zone and my element, and the hotel staff needs to be there for me 100%, and I can't say that for any of the hotels I ever stayed in, with the shining exception of the staff at the Best Western Hollywood Plaza. That group alone will make me want to come back the next time I am in Los Angeles, no matter what part of the county I have to be in. I will make sure to stay there.

Maybe this is what a Best Western usually is like, but after staying at the Best Western Hollywood Hills, this place is looking kinda cruddy.

The rooms are smaller, more poorly decorated, and seem dirty, although that might be more of a fault of the decor.  The bathroom is big enough for myself and a bar of soap, and nothing else.  There isn't anything about this whole hotel that makes it stand out.  Its 100% bland, and average.  Not good enough in my book.  The view from my room is a railing, and then the parking lot.  Great.

I'm very unimpressed.  The free Internet is nice, but I'd gladly pay more to be at the other BW (it was sold out).  If you're looking for a BW in Hollywood, head for the hills; avoid the plaza.
