Review from Lanie T.
Hayward, CA
Just stayed here for 3 nights--celebrating Christmas with local family.
The staff were super! Especially the manager who allowed us LOTS of extra time on our last day....and the sweet blonde haired young woman (whose name I forgot) who was cheerful and helpful to everyone!
PROS
* THE MOST COMFORTABLE BED EVER. EVER.
* Flatscreen TV located perfectly within eyesight of the most comfortable bed. We don't own one and now we are longing to get one! The TV, I mean. Although I am personally longing for that bed!
* Large room with VERY cool lamps!
* Lovely pool area and cabana, with a decent breakfast.
* Keurig coffee maker in each room--NICE to have great coffee (although I detest powdered coffee creamer....it would be great to have half and half! hint hint...)
* View....well, the view was NICE but the photos are deceiving. Most of the hotel doesn't face the ocean...we had a view if we went out on the balcony and looked left...it was very pleasant, but not quite what we had expected.
* Balcony: LARGE and wonderful!
* WiFi. Didn't bring a laptop, but it's great to have this. I used the computer downstairs, though...which is great.
* The lobby looked great and they had free apples! I noticed another review below that said the lobby needed "updating." It appears they have done so.
* Pet friendly. We didn't have a pet but might next time!
CONS
* The hotel is on a hill, and it's a hike to get ANYTHING. There is a Denny's at the bottom of the hill, but as I say, it's a HIKE. Everything else is a bit of a walk. Unless you are super fit and have lots of time, plan to rent a car to get around.
* No microwave! Come on folks! You gave us a fridge, but ESPECIALLY since there is no food on site (the Japanese restaurant is very nice, but VERY pricey and closes early), a microwave to heat stuff up would have been very handy!
I would stay here again, but with my expectations slightly lowered from the hype on the website. Thanks, BW staff for a great stay! -

The place was a little dated. All parking was either in the garage or in the 12 or so spots they have behind the building next to the pool.
We arrived closed to 11pm at night and the front desk guy was like "EH", not even a friendly welcome. The day crew was much nicer.
They serve free breakfast in the Pool house. Just your basic eggs, sausages, cereal, self-serve waffles and terribly watered-down orange juice.
On the bright side, our room was very spacious. We rented out the 1 King, 1 Queen on the first floor. You can see the ocean in the distance. Our room had 2 37" flat screen tv's (nice to keep the kids busy).
If you're headed to Carlsbad/Legoland, it's only a 5 min. drive up north on the 5. Very convenient and close to everything.
The entrance to the hotel was not very driver-friendly, as you are not allowed to make a U-turn from Encinitas Blvd into the uphill driveway leading up to the hotel nor at the next stoplight up the street. You literally have to make a full left turn into the next street, drive up a bit, make another u-turn, and come back on Encinitas Blvd. this time on the Hotel side.
Overall experience was OK!! -

Just decent. I was expecting more based on the pictures on and reviews. The room was clean and spacious but the bathroom was small, outdated and had mold! I enjoyed the balcony which kind of made up for the ugly bathroom. The hotel is walking distance to the beach which is also nice. There are toiletries provided but it is not replenished unless it is requested and picked up at the front desk. The worst part is there is no room service. There is a slight motel feel of this hotel because of the lack of room service. I stayed here for business but would not return for pleasure.

I got married in January and 95% of our guests were flying in from out of town. The Best Western was the only place in town that would give me a deal on room blocks and I'm very happy we went with them.
My husband and I stayed in the Presidential Suite, which was totally pimped out including a mirror over the in-room jacuzzi - brown chicken brown cow baby! The view was amazing and the bed was very comfortable. Everything was clean as a whistle.
All of our guests were happy there and the pool/jacuzzi were well maintained and a nice amenity. The breakfast was kinda what you'd expect for a hotel breakfast - not too bad, but ya won't miss it when you come home.
The staff was EXTREMELY friendly and accommodating, especially to me as the bride-to-be. Christina is the event manager there, and she put up with all of my phone calls, questions, and requests well before we checked in. And she did it with a smile :) My girlfriends got a little crazy at the hotel after the bachelorette party and the hotel was understanding about any damages that may or may not have occurred.
We got a great deal for our guests, so I'd definitely recommend this place for wedding room blocks or even just for a week in Encinitas. I'd be happy to stay there again. The lobby and elevators are a little dumpy, but otherwise, this place is great. If they spiffed up the lobby and served up a better breakfast I'd give it 5 stars for sure. -

The Best Western Encinitas Inn served us pretty well for our recovery... on our trip to San Diego for a wedding, Jeff and I both suffered major injuries and spent most of the trip in the hospital... Jeff got appendicitis and had his appendix removed. Then, I fainted at 5:30 am in the emergency room hallway and fractured my jaw :(
Anyways, we quickly came by the hotel to change before a brief appearance at the wedding. The room was spacious and the bed was huge (though a little too soft for Jeff's healing tummy). After the wedding, we relaxed in bed and loved that they had HBO and Marley & Me to watch!
Marley & Me and the comfy room definitely helped out a little bit with our recovery before we flew back to San Francisco so I could get surgery at Stanford... -

Nice clean rooms. Location is key. Close to Moonlight beach and downtown. A great place to stay if your from out of town, or if you don't have room for your family and friends to stay.

This is a no-frills but very decent place to stay. I had some friends in town and they stayed here and had a very nice experience all the way around. It's close to Moonlight Beach and walking distance to Downtown Encinitas. There is a Denny's on premesis and a Wendy's directly across the road for late night snacking. However Tomiko's Sushi Bar is also adjacent for a more spectacular dining experience.
