Stayed for a couple of nights here with three other friends.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are good sized, clean and comfortable. The price is very affordable.

Continental Breakfast is included. The guy even made us fresh waffles when asked.

Fresh baked cookies are available at night when we came in after a whole day's activities.

The front lobby is like someone's living room complete with cozy chairs, small living room and fireplace. The place gives off an atmosphere of a bed and breakfast rather than a hotel.

It really is an INN!

This hotel was as good as they get. Comfortable, friendly staff, very comfortable rooms and beds and a staff that was as friendly as ever.

This is not your usual Best Western and is truly a cut above many hotels.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel a couple weeks ago and it was amazing! We've been to many nice hotels but this was the first time we felt really relaxed and comfortable and cozy, as well as really welcomed from the staff. Everyone who works there genuinely cares if you're happy and having a good time. I couldn't believe how much trouble they went to in making sure we had our day all planned out, suggesting places that turned out to be perfect for us. Best trip, best hotel, I will be back as often as possible!!!

LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! : )

I really liked this place.  The owners are super sweet and friendly. Every request was met. They offer warm cookies at night and tasty waffles in the morning.  The room we had was HUGE and really quiet.

The service is what truly set this place apart, in my opinion.  I would definitely return.

Pros:

Super friendly. As in, is it humanly possible for someone to be this sincerely friendly?

Free food. The cookies were super fab, the breakfast was incredible -- way beyond what I would expect for a continental breakfast.

Very clean. Probably one of the cleanest hotels I've stayed in.

Good value.

Cons:

Napa kitchy (like 99.9% of places in Napa -- what gives?). This is no four seasons. Even though people say it is not like a Best Western and is nicer, go in with Best Western expectations and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Bed was lumpy.

It's on a main road (like 99% of other Napa Inns), so it's relatively noisy. My husband brought ear plugs, which were great.

Hot tub was broken. No idea how long it was broken, so I'm not ding-ing them for this. It happens.

After my last experience with a recommendation, I was unsure about my relationship with Yelp.  Lol.

However, that trust has been restored.  Haha.  All because of this great place called the Elm House Inn.  The staff truly knows the epitome of great service and professionalism.  Not only were they friendly, but they were beyond accommodating.

1.  Super-duper comfy bed?   CHECK.
2.  Yummy, fresh baked cookies in the evening?  CHECK.
3.  Fresh, hot apple cider?  CHECK.
4.  Bed & breakfast feel, but lots of privacy?  CHECK.
5.  Cozy fireplace in the room?  CHECK.
6.  Delish waffles that are humungo?  CHECK.
7.  Best service ever?  CHECK, CHECK, CHECK!!!

The wineries, restaurant and festivities of Napa were all wonderful.  But at the end of the day, it was Elm House that made me feel right at home and completed a special weekend.

A Best Western? Who knew?

(Disclaimer: I am a hotel/bedding/furniture/ambiance SNOB. If the hotel has polyester bedspreads, I am giving it no more than two stars, regardless of whether the staff ran out in the middle of the night to find me a '94 Barolo.)

My husband and I stayed here for one night of our honeymoon, based on the review of our most excellent concierge in SF. I can't speak for how the reservation process is, since he took care of it all for us.

Our room was ridiculously huge; I have no idea if it was a "special suite" or anything, but it had a gigantic bed, angled ceilings, a fireplace and sitting area across the vast room, and an equally huge bathroom.

Now on to the so-ridiculous-it-has-to-be-true anecdote:

I still had the curls in my hair from my wedding. It takes a LOT of hair spray to make my hair stay curled; see my normal pic v. my wedding ones in my profile. Like, if I try to curl it, it's stick straight again within half an hour. So believe me when I say there was a LOT of hair spray in it.

Since the aforementioned bathtub was so lovely and gigantic, I thought I would take a nice candlelit, bubbly soak, then get the gunk out of my hair.

Got everything prepared using six candles we had brought along, sank on in and started looking around.

The tub had one of those faucets made of reflective steel. I was in a reflective mood, so I started watching the reflection in the faucet; six candles flickering, etc.

Suddenly I noticed a seventh flame near my head that hadn't been there a moment before.

And then I started smelling what Amy in Little Women called "burnt feathers."

Next thing my husband knew, I yelped (no pun intended) and dove my head under the water.

... Stop laughing! It was scary, man!

Oh, and WARM SOFT COOKIES AND CIDER.

I have to give this place 5 stars; the experience was perfect.

Don't be fooled by their unfortunate association with the Best Western chain.  If it's at all related, it's a long lost half cousin's sister-in-law's uncle.

The place is pure charm.  From the outside, with manicured gardens of roses and breezy trees to the interior, with a homey communal area and some tables set up for breakfast.

The communal area has reading material and board games.  There's also a buffet table permanently stationed there with cookies in a glass dome, lemonade, water, and coffee for most of the day.

Breakfast is delicious, and not what you're used to.  This is NOT continental breakfast.  It includes: Belgian waffles, a variety of breads you can request toasted, grapefruit halves, various yogurts (Activa, Dannon, and Yoplait), fruit salad, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal (with a topping station of brown sugar and raisins), whole fruits, cereal and milk, coffee, juices, and all kinds of toppings for your toast (peanut butter, cream cheese, butter, jelly).

There is a desktop computer in the communal area with internet and a request that you use it in 15 minute sessions (and not for porn!).

If you step outside to their backyard area just off the communal area, you'll find a hot tub, laundry area, and  some bench seating under a plant covered arch.

When we went last weekend, V.Sattui wineries came over for a 5pm wine tasting with cheese, served in the inn's communal area.  How fun!

Your own room is a winner, too.  The beds have those feather mattress toppers on them to make them cushiony.  Decor is homey and not modern.  Bathroom is redone and I love that there is a sink in the bathroom and also just outside the bathroom at the vanity.  Two people can brush their teeth at once!  Woohoo!

There are two parking lots that flank either side of the inn.  Parking is NEVER a problem.  Location-wise, you're just a few blocks from Downtown Napa.  But more importantly, you're just off Highway 29 so you can hop on and head over to all the wineries and fancy shmancy restaurants.  You're also right next to the Outlets with namebrand stores (not that you'd drive or fly all the way to Napa for a day at outlets you can find anywhere! Shudder!).

I HIGHLY recommend you check this place out.  You'll be saving your money so you can put it toward a dinner at Mustard's Grill or French Laundry.  But you won't be feeling deprived of a cute Napa hotel.  You've got that right here.  There's a reason it keeps winning award after award.  And by the way, I'm totally sober writing this!

From my notes on September 26, 2004
This is a lovely b&b style hotel which has won several awards. They have a wireless network, but it wasn't working when we were there, their computer guy says it was riddled with virus and they couldn't get it to talk to other computers.

The bed was softer than usual which was very nice, but I recommend that you bring your own pillow.

When we got back to the inn after our wine tour, we took a dip in the hot tub. We left when hammering started next door. Perhaps Monster house was there?

The morning deskman at this hotel is quite opinionated. One comment I found interesting was he calls wines he doesn't like "earthy" to mean that they taste like dirt.

This is a simple, straightforward hotel without any pretensions, which is rare enough in Napa these days. Tom and Connie are warm and friendly and clearly care a lot about their place. They greeted me by name in the morning, which I always appreciate and never get. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the Xmas decorations were charming (not tacky) and the treats constantly available and lovely fresh breakfast were wonderful. There were five of us in three rooms and everyone was very pleased. 301 and 302 have fireplaces and look out onto the south parking area but are quiet. 305 is a bit larger, no fp, and looks out onto the garden area. I will absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Napa who doesn't want to break the bank - it's the best deal in town.

My husband and I went on a Labor Day weekend trip to Napa and we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was pretty conveniently located to downtown Napa and Hwy 29. The hotel really catered to their guests, despite being "only a Best Western". For example, my husband had cut his finger by accident rather severely, and I called down to see if they had any bandaids available, and the receptionist  was so prepared and wonderful. She had gauze, antiseptic and bandaids all available for our use immediately.
The breakfast was large and very good; The homemade waffles were plentiful and delicious. On Saturday night, there was wine and little cheese and bread. There were homemade chocolate chip cookies too!
There was also a very small hot tub outside; there was a fireplace in our room.

If you are looking for an affordable, comfortable, clean, feel at home, conveniant, last minute place to stay, this is it. It is very cute and has all the amenities you need.
We got a room last minute and were suprised by the free (home baked) chocolate chip cookies, wine tasting, breakfast, and hot tub. The staff was amazingly helpful. It is absolutely perfect for a short stay. You will be pleasantly surprised!

The male owner of this place is awesome, and very helpful.  I was in the area looking for a hotel room.  He was out of rooms, but he took the time to help me find another place that had a room available.  I will refer my friends to go to his place, if they come to Napa.  He is a very awesome, fantastic, pleasant, helpful, and friendly nice person.  A+++

I had an incredible time at the elm house inn this past weekend. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and we were so well taken care of.  The hotel is simple, yet extremely clean and well put together.  Cookies and Cider were a nice added touch! It offers an unbeatable price and a central location! Would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat!

Other reviewers said it all.

One thing, the front desk told us when we checked in that breakfast was until 10:30 am.  Tsk, it actually ends at 10.  We got down there at 10:10 to find the kitchen person cleaning up.  But she agreed to let us have breakfast and even made us waffles.  Very nice.

really?  all these great reviews?  i thought the place was ok but not worth the money paid (approx $250 for the summer time) since i must have woken up w/ at least 10 bed bug bites.  i had to stay here for a work trip and the mattress was terribly soft (and ridden w/ bed bugs).  the room was cute (a small one on the top floor that felt a lil like a converted attic) and the house is more of a bed and breakfast than a motel.  there's not much to the grounds but it's well situated in the napa area.  the service also was not really on - but hey - it's a best western not the palace hotel.
