I've been staying at this place off and on when visiting Ashland ever since we started making school trips in the early 90s, and it's still a nice hotel. Some rooms are better than others (some of the rooms in their buildings across the street are nicer than the main building where the office is) but overall, I would definitely recommend the Bard's Inn if you don't want to go for a B&B. The location is great (walking distance to everything) and the prices are inexpensive.
Continental breakfast was meh, but you didn't want to go to a B&B, right?
The place was inexpensive and the room we stayed in was tidy when we went in, which is always a plus. The room even had a nice little balcony overlooking the main street. On the trip I was on we had stayed at some real dumps that were way more expensive than this place, so this was a nice surprise.
Not bad...not bad at all...for a Best Western. Service was friendly and efficient (thanks, Sarah!), and the continental breakfast better than most. Fairly utilitarian (small fridge, hairdryer, iron & ironing board in room), shower was hot and not too spitty, and, apart from what looked like someone had a coffee throwing fight on the carpet, pretty clean overall. Also, super close to downtown so everything was in walking distance.
