I'm confused by this Best Buy. At other Best Buys, the video games are in one place. It's easy to go from PC to Wii to X-Box to PS3. Here, it's like a frackin' maze. The PC games are near the entrance, the X-Box games are past the CDs, the Wii games are across the way, and the PS games are somewhere else entirely.
Now, on this venture, I was only looking for the Wii option. The selection's okay in that they actually have games with the word "Mario" in them in stock (at this point, no one has Mario Kart, but trying to find Galaxy and Party has been a hassle), and the service, if you can track someone down who isn't in conversation with their coworkers is okay, both of which gives it its second star, but other than that, this place is avoidable.
Oh Best Buy. We have had a love hate relationship going on for a while now haven't we...
I love the fact that you are so close to where I went to college and now where I work. You were there for me when I needed and emergency external hard drive for my senior degree project. You always have the newest movie releases waiting for me when I walk in the door. Your employees are easy to find when I need assistance.
But Best Buy all of these things can't make up for the number of times you've disappointed me. My first DVD player broke and you would not replace it, despite the warranty. My second DVD player broke with the same results. If a movie came out over a year ago, its a crap shoot as to whether of not you will have it, and lets face it Best Buy, more often than not you leave me unsatisfied. No Evil Dead? No Muppets Movie? Season 2 of The Tick, but not season 1? Your movies, music and video game sections leave MUCH to be desired. Maybe you should stop trying to sell me cell phone service and get a few more ear phone options in.
I will still wander in during my lunch hour searching for a new movie to watch, and after 10 minutes remember that Best Buy usually doesn't have the movie I am looking for. I'll settle on something else and go to Newbury Comics later. For everything else I will go in to look at in is person and get the better buy on Amazon.
i'd love to hate on BB, but i've never had a problem here, and they've done me better than smaller stores in the area.
1. cheap(er) cds - one of the only places you can still get spankin' new release cds for $9.99. and for the same or a lower price, sometimes, i'd rather have the tangible cd instead of those pesky mp4s...
2. predicting shipments and following through - they told me when the wii fit would come in, told me when they would open that day, and followed through with their promise, unlike the surpremely unhelpful gamestop and fye.
3. consistent dvd sales - now that the closest blockbuster and hollywood video stores are closed, BB is the next best place to buy reasonably priced DVDs.
and finally, i like coming here and playing rock band on a lazy weekend afternoon :)
Seriously, these people have absolutely no clue how to run a store. I tried to purchase a 6.1 Home Theater system, and they insisted that it only comes with four speakers, despite photos on the packaging and in their own advertisements.
It was really sad to see how little most of the salespersons know about audio equipment. When I asked why one set of speakers was cheaper than another, their home theater expert responded, "well the cheaper ones aren't as high-end as these more expensive ones". Thanks for easing my decision-making process, buddy.
I stormed out of this store, irritated that I had spent an hour arguing with various associates and managers over what was to be included in my purchase. And then I had to pay for parking... :(

Worst. Buy. Ever!
I took my computer here to be serviced a few years ago - it was under warranty and they tried to charge me $300, claiming the damage was my fault! Funny, when I took it to another Best Buy, they couldn't find any damage inflicted by me.
This is not a very good Best Buy. I know for a fact that computer hardware and console games all have very limited selections- which makes absolutely no sense since it's right near a minimum of five college campuses. What is here in great volume is a comprehensive DVD selection- I'm pretty sure if I ever wanted to get a movie, it would be here. Probably a bigger selection than your local Blockbuster, both old and new movies. But the Best Buy in Watertown beats this place hands down (although they have less PC games). I think Watertown also has a much bigger selection of TVs and anything else you would buy for an apartment.
The staff here is also very mediocre- I once had a terrible cashier who kept me waiting, and then eventually ended up sending me to the customer service desk- I was so late I ended up with a parking ticket. Not at all happy about that. If anything, buy online and then pick up in-store so you don't have to worry about stock and the cashiers. I also hate how they encourage credit cards, but then try to hook you on a magazine if you do.

This place is the antithesis to the BB at the Cambridgeside Galleria. (See my other BB review.) Everything is clean, the sales associates are friendly and knowledgeable, the demo products actually work and have power.
How can two different stores be operated by the same HQ and be so completely polar opposite of each other?

Your typical Best-Buy, although this one irks me because it is hard to get in and out of it. There are several difference entrances/ exits. You can only pay at one usually and what looks like a register may not actually be a register.

This particular location does not have a good selection of Nintendo DS games, and since that is basically the only reason I go here, it's sort of stinks. I know that they have a lot of different genres of movies though, because I was subjected to look here for Samurai Champloo when Newbury Comics didn't have it in stock, and sure enough they had almost every volume. So that did sort of impress me. I like coming in here to look around at the different electronics and movies, but I generally don't buy anything from here because they either don't have what I want or I know I can get it cheaper somewhere else.

Tried to go there recently. Looked them up on line to find out closing time. Web site said 9:30, so I called and got a recording that said they'd already closed at 10pm. This was at 8:30 pm. Clearly they were tired and confused and didn't want to be bothered, so I just went to Circuit City instead.

The Best Buy in the Cambridgeside Galleria is larger, but this place does have a good selection of their cell phones, digital cameras, etc. This is also nice that it's very T accessible and is right in the Landmark Center so you can catch a movie at Fenway 13, go to REI or Bed Bath and Beyond, all in the same trip.

Best Buy, while being a large chain, has some good things going on. The best of which is their CD prices. You may not realize it, but generally they tend to be one of the most consistent places to find cheap CDs in the city. They don't have as extensive a collection as most, but they do often have big name artists selling specialty releases at Best Buy only. Plus, if you need electronics and still miss Lechmere (maybe I'm the only one...) you'll usually do pretty good here.
***Added note... on my strange and never ending to find a good public bathroom in every neighborhood in the city (if you have ever been a pregnant woman, you'd understand), upstairs in the Landmark Center they have very clean and and up to date bathrooms.. out of the way enough that there's hardly ever a wait)

Typical Best Buy, with especiially bad service....I was never helped here. Also things that I wanted were never in stock!
The workers in this best buy are friendly and helpful, but the actual store i think is ridiculous...it's so small!!! I know I'm from the suburbs, but the stores in Connecticut are so much bigger!!!! I went there to find a digital camera for my mom, and for what I wanted, only had a choice of 3! Boo!

As big-box stores go, the staff here is better than most, but still, don't expect to be treated with the personal service you'd expect at a smaller electronics shop. Prices are the best in town, which is what really makes Best Buy worth shopping at.
The entrance is a little strange which probably has something to do with security. Don't know how well that works though because I personally witnessed someone take off out the front door with a bunch of stolen CDs while staff yelled. Don't know what happened with that but this place is great otherwise. Just like any big Best Buy and the staff is nice but you need to track them down first. No matter how busy I've never waited long because the line to the registers always moves fast.
It's just another day in the ordinary life of a Best Buy retail store. Nothing too exciting here. I went in, easily found what I was looking for, paid quickly, and left. It was rather akward going in, I think maybe I went in the exit door? Figures. Who knows, it wasn't clearly marked off and it was dark out.
In terms of Best Buy stores, this is about average, but with one key feature- the parking here is free for the first 15 minutes (or 10, i'm not sure which)- but regardless, if you know what you want, you can park and run in and out without being charged!
Definitely the best place to go for any electronics if you are looking to save some money. They also have great warrantees on all their electronic equipment. I have purchased computer, camera and entertainment products such as an iPod and various DVDs and CDs, and all those products have been highly satisfactory.
I went to this Best Buy to look at air conditioners. It's a fairly large and well organized BB. And the sales guy was very, very helpful! He knew a ton about a/c and answered all of my questions with very detailed answers.
The good news: they'll deliver your a/c for $50, and you can order from their website so you're not limited to the models in the store. (They didn't have a lot of choices left in this particular store.) The bad news is that it's $100 for installation and they won't install if you're higher than the 3rd floor because one of the 2 guys they send will be outside. Overall, however, a pleasant experience, given the boring sales item.
Cheap, cheap CHEAP! I left Best Buy with a new CD player and new CD, for less than $25! The staff was extremely helpful and nice, and I was in and out of there within twenty minutes. Great people and great prices!
Best buy definitely has alot of great things to offer but i don't think their prices are always the greatest. The parking is a couple bucks unless you can buy that fridge you want in under 10 minutes and then throw it on top of your car while pushing it to the gate.
i was so happy that there was a bestbuy near school. DVD hunting and electronics are always cheaper here, great for techie people on a budget.
There really aren't too many options for electronics near the downtown area, and this Best Buy fills that need. Like the entire chain, the store is well stocked and has low prices with plenty of staff to answer your questions. Definately worth visiting when you need an emergency cord or just want to peruse what's new on DVD.
