WARNING: DO NOT BUY SERVICE WARRANTY THROUGH THEM!
We visit BB pretty often, having a electronics geek husband, just breeds more of the same.  Now, I'm 'all in that'.  So, we stop by every so often to see if they can provide the case or controller for a phone or game console.  Which is really all the luck we usually have.

Recently we purchased a convection microwave oven.  We bought it here simply because we have credit through BB.  But in the end, I'm not a huge fan of BB in general.

The employees are pretty good, most have been a pleasure to speak with and get the 'low down' on what we're looking at to purchase, but most recently it seems like anyone we talk to, well they just do not care.  At all.  They are paid to be there and that's what they do.  When attempting to get help with our shopping for the new microwave, the only person in the department was one guy.  He was ok, but again, was only there because that's what he's supposed to do.  Not because he actually wants to help the customer. We did get an awesome microwave, but really, that has nothing to do with BB or anyone who works there.  Rather, I should thank GE for making the item.

Our real complaint with BB is the 'warranties' they sell when you buy high price items.  We bought a dishwasher here 2 years ago and purchased the service package with it.  Good thing, well, maybe.  Immediately we had issues with the washer.  It kept mildewing our dishes.  Really ridiculous considering that we replaced a 15 year old dishwasher, which initially worked 10 X's better than the brand NEW one.  We only replaced it because it looked really old, plus we thought we'd get a new one and it would blow that one out of the water.  Not so much.  1.75 years later and it's only now that it actually works properly.  We had BB install it, simple, pull out old, put in new and hook up, which is a  tube and a plug.  From the time of install to now, we've called the repair tech's 4 times.  The guy each time would fiddle around inside, but not actually do much.  Then critique us on how to use it.  (Yeah, it's use the dumb user that's the problem...)  It never got fixed, and BB advertises "We fix it or replace it" isn't exactly right.  The items must be completely broken, right out of the box.  While I think mildew in a brand spankin' new dishwasher is broken, apparently the repair guys didn't.  Ever.  They just kept giving us the same BS and said no when we requested they replace it with a new one like they advertise.  NOPE.

Then, fate bent our way, and we had a plumber who has AWESOME reviews on here (Union Jack), and when he came to hook up our new sink, he very quickly and easily fixed the dishwasher.  Come to find out, the BB install guys didn't hook the tube for the water correctly, and water was not draining properly.  Nothing wrong with the actual washer, but something very wrong with the install guys and repair dudes.

So, it took 5 times, and 1 competent repair person later to finally have the dishwasher we bought, work like it should.  We don't buy the service warranties any more HUGE SCAM FYI, just google it.  Which is the only reason I can say it was a good thing we bought the warranty.  It wasn't an expensive problem in the end, and now we know NOT to rely on them after purchase.

In the end, we don't go by as much, not a lot of help and don't feel confidence with the empty promises they make.  If they have the items we are specifically looking for, then sure, but we don't really browse any more, just not an enjoyable experience.

Are they trying to go out of Business? I went there today to purchase a guitar chord form my son. The "dude" that was attempting to help me made several attempts to make me feel like a complete idiot by asking for a guitar chord that won't tangle. Finally he said, "if you run around the stage enough, all guitars will get tangled". I continued to search and then he tried to sell me on a wireless device. I asked him about the quality and he said "You get what you pay for". He took me to a shelf that had wireless chords and there were many there to select from. He looked and said "the one that works they are out of".

With the level of service you can get at an Apple store I will be surprised once the Apple TV comes out if these guys are still around.

    I am a FAN of this store today;
I went in to return as iPod docking clock radio (which I had bought for my kid for Xmas), but I had NO RECEIPT.
The clock radio was DOA. Never Worked. Out of the box! AND I had 99 reasons to be BITTER about this!

As I walked towards the store, I steeled myself.....becasue I JUST KNEW they were gonna be real nice....and I was gonna have to get REALLY PISSED and make a HUGE SCENE in order to get an exchange for plastic bookend. So as I walked in, I was getting all RED FACED and PUFFED UP...which is how you need to be when you are getting ready to kick some of dat Geek-Squad-type Customer Service asses up at da local Best Buy!

Just as I was getting ready to GO OFF like the Challenger.....the Geek pulled up my credit card number, found the charge, and then said "No, receipt = No problem sir. Just go to the shelf on aisle 3 and grab a new one".

And as I did, I thought "Damn...that little bastard just stole all my thunder".
Hmm, guess I'll have to go home and kick the dog instead.

It's Best Buy.  Whoopie.  Now they have vendors roaming the floor trying to talk you in to stuff.  It's like being approached by a stranger, but they're more aggressive and want a two year commitment instead of spare change.
This trip I bought a vacuum on line for pick up at the store.  I was supposed to get an email confirmation that it was ready.  I got to the store before the email came.  I apprehensively approached the customer service desk to pick up.  The lady was doubtful since I hadn't received the email, but there was the vacuum behind the counter.  Someone just forgot to send the email.  Best help $6 an hour can buy.  They did have the best price on what I bought.

This weekend, I traveled to Best Buy Store 204 (Highway 290, Austin TX, 78735) to sell back some used PS3 games.  I was given the runaround by the store employees, being transfered from one line at the "Game Return" desk to another at customer service.  The customer service reps didn't really know what to do; the system took forever to load, and because some of the UPC's on some of the games didn't match what was in their computer, the employees were not able to value or accept many of my trade-ins.  Then, when they valued 3 of the games, the system was not actually able to process the trade in.
I, of course, was disappointed.  I had spent 45 minutes waiting in lines, waiting for computers, and waiting for reps who weren't equipped to handle the service that you'd advertised (and if they'd just said that their system didn't work right off the bat, I'd probably had been much less angry).

I was leaving the store, but the security person stopped me and told me that the store manager was looking for me.  He introduced himself quickly (I'm sorry I can't remember his name, but I was told he was the highest level manager working at about 4 p.m. on Saturday), listened to my frustration, and immediately apologized.  He said that he could fix the problem (even though I doubted him based upon all the statements made by the employees up to that point).  He took me to a register, called the game valuation "expert" over, immediately had him value all the games (at a fair price) and gave me the value of them all, plus an additional amount in case we'd underestimated.
He was courteous, thoughtful, and made things right, right away.

Because of my previous frustration, I wasn't as nice to him as I should have been.  He did a great job while keeping his cool and dealing with me in a professional and courteous manner.

Bad customer service experiences are really frustrating, and I hope they get their game trade in stuff figured out, but the store manager did a great job, even when I wasn't so great.

My 10-year-old Sony 27" CRT TV died last night.  I"m not a TV sort of guy; I have it on a lot, but mostly as background noise.  I don't watch a lot of sports, and I rarely watch a whole movie.  But, having a dead TV in my living room still seemed like a void that needed to be filled.

I read a bunch of tutorials on HD technology, even more reviews of current models, and decided on a few possibilities.  I found one of my short-list choices on sale at BestBuy.  I bought it online with in-store pickup.  Everything went smoothly.  About 1 hour after ordering I got the 2 emails saying my purchase was completed and I could pick up the TV at the store.  I'm not telling the model because someone will tell me "Oh, you should have bought this one instead", but I got a 42" 1080p LCD model.

I drove there, went to the pickup station, gave a young woman a copy of my email.  Within 2 minutes my TV was at the front door and a man helped load it in the back of my pickup.

Now, that's "guy shopping" to me; read the reviews, knew what I wanted, and got it in a totally painless fashion.  Best Buy did what they needed and the whole system worked well.

My letter I tried submitting to Best Buy on their website - too bad the site it broken and wouldn't even accept the submission:

Terrible customer experience with this online order.  Showed in-stock for the store so I entered my social security, etc for activation.  Placed the order and received an email 20 minutes later telling me it was now magically out of stock and to call to get the issue resolved.

I called as asked in the email, and I'd been transferred to the Evo line and was waiting there when the prompt asked me to do the "we'll call you back" thing where they call me back.  I then spent over 30 minutes on hold waiting for a Best Buy Mobile customer care rep to help me because the rep who called me back wasn't able to help me as she was http://bestbuy.com customer care not Best Buy Mobile.

Why on earth do you have http://bestbuy.com customer care reps call back from the Evo line if they cannot help?  It's a waste of my and their time.

Just thought you should know what your customers go through when trying to order online.

i took my (slightly) older dell laptop to the geek squad at this best buy because it was running slow.  the geek acted like my computer grossed him out and he wanted me to buy something new.  he just got frustrated with the computer (because it was running slowly, duh).  the only option he offered me was $199 for a year for 3 computers.  i went to discount electronics where the guy spent an hour with me and found that my ac adapter didn't have a pin in it and it was 65 volt when i needed a 90!  for the cost of a $42 ac adapter, he doubled the speed of my laptop.  boo geek squad, boo.

Seriously, it should be a law that I'm not allowed within 500 ft. of a Best Buy without a sponsor. I have a problem.  I get ideas in that store. Suddenly? I need a 52" 1080dpi LCD TV. Never mind that my TV is perfectly fine, albeit a little dated.

I need to get My Horse and Me for the Wii that I don't even have yet.

I need multiple cases for my iPod, along with new headphones. Never mind that I have both of these things and they are perfectly fine.

I've also discovered that I need a new washer and dryer, the cool one that comes in various colors and steam my clothes to get the wrinkles out. I also need a new stainless steel refrigerator and a deep freeze. Never mind that I *rent* my place. These are things I need.

Curse you Best Buy for putting shiny, sexy appliances and electronics less than two miles from my house and making me want to over-extend myself financially to have pretty, sexy things in my possession.

My name is Jaye, and I'm a gadgetholic.

Today, I went in to look for an external hard drive enclosure to offload music files from my hard drive.  Well, it turns out that hard drive enclosures without the drive are ridiculously priced and for an extra $10, I not only got an external drive enclosure but also a 500G hard drive to go with it (total bill was about $75)...crazy.

There was a store associate nearby and I took the opportunity to quiz him.  He was very knowledgeable and helpful about the various brands, specs, etc. which is my usual experience for this location.

I also took a few moments to peruse their DVD section since I'm a bit of a movie aficionado and I found their selection to be expansive and there were many specials.  The only downside to this section is that there is not a lot of room between aisles so if you know what you want great, but leisurely browsing titles is gonna feel like flashing back to a middle school dance where you're getting bumped into and your feet stepped on.

Extra tips/thoughts about the store/location- 1) this place always seems to be busy, no matter when you go. 2) parking is pretty limited; 3) when leaving the store parking lot you have easy access to get on the frontage for N. Mopac but if you desire to go any other way you are going to have to negotiate a parking lot and traffic maze that will contribute to premature gray hair.

Bought a new TV here last week after shopping around all over town, and had a pretty good experience. I never particularly cared for Best Buy before, quite honestly, but this time, I was impressed.

The sales floor associate (I spoke with Marina) was knowledgeable - I know because I spent the week before doing my own research, and I quizzed her pretty good, but she knew her shit.

Also learned something I thought was pretty cool - if you find the same product somewhere else for a lower price, they'll match it - and not just before you make your purchase, but during the exchange/return period as well - which, for purchases made after November 1st goes all the way thru the end of January. And not only that, but if they drop the price themselves, they'll give you a giftcard for the difference.

My wife and I went in to browse the washers and dryers, fully intending to shop at a few more stores before making a decision to purchase. We bumped into a salesperson named Liza Soto.  Her product knowledge was impressive -- we knew more about washers and dryers after 20 minutes of talking with her than we had learned spending countless hours online.  She helped us prioritize our needs and narrow down a few good choices, without any pressure.  We decided to go ahead and purchase the ones we liked, and the entire process was smooth, quick and easy.  We got the items delivered as scheduled and are completely satisfied with our decision.

Today, I decided I needed a new game for the Wii.  I had a coupon for Best Buy, so I decided to buy a game from them.  I did the purchase online but used the store pick up.  So, I made my purchase online and headed over with my receipt.

The designated "convenient" spots for online customers were all taken and remained taken the entire time I was there except that I was the only person at the online pick up counter.  When I pointed this out to the male employee at the front, he turned a looked outside and said, "So?  I see plenty of other parking spaces."   Nevermind there was a thunder storm moving in quickly, I had a 2 year old in tow, and the closest parking was at the far end of the lot.  Nevermind one of the big "sells" for the in store pick up is "convenient" parking.

Further the female employee working the online counter was less than friendly and very terse.  Forgive me for buying something at your store, really.  It won't happen again.

I'm not the kind of person to venture out on "Black Friday"...unless heavily medicated.  So I decided to spend Black Friday at home but decided to look at the ads and  see what the brave were out buying. Ran across a computer for a great deal at BestBuy. It's 5pm by now, surely its GONE! But just in case, I call to see. The girl that answered the phone was awesome!!!! She said they still had a few and would even pull it and hold  for me. You mean I could avoid all the madness? It would be waiting on ME?! YES! SCORE! I immediately hit the road, didn't wait in line, got my stuff and I was OUT! Oh and the place was packed! But lucky me....I was in and out in minutes!  Best Black Friday experience ever. I'm a happy camper and so is my husband, no more hearing me fuss about a new computer:)

While Best Buy has a great selection and good prices, their service brings down the entire company's offerings.

I dropped off a laptop that was still under warranty but running very slowly. I was told that I would hear back from them in "a day or two" letting me know after the "diagnosis."

It's been FOUR days. In an attempt to reach the Geek Squad (their service dept), I was cut off twice, and finally told that their lines weren't working or that no one was answering in that department. After devoting an hour to trying to speak with someone on the status of my computer, I still don't know what the status is. This is the kind of service that can put customers *out of business* if they depend on their computer to work, as I do.

You might as well grab a beverage if your gonna take the time to read my take on Best Buy. Up until last year, I was a Circuit City man. Sure, I've shopped here over the years but my major electronic purchases were made across the street. I miss you Circuit City and here is why.

You know those extended warranties they try to sell you to "protect your purchase"? Well my friends, at the City I abused the system. I bought them on EVERYTHING. That way, a year or so later when a new model came out you'd call in and complain long enough to get the new model. I had close to 15 new car stereos by just saying the CD skipped when you hit a bump. I'd get a new computer every year thanks to the "cheese" (ESP) claiming the USB input was jammed or the CD tray would fail to open in a timely manner.

The same went for TVs. A new 32 inch TV every year under the service plan. I also used the extended warranty for cell phone trade ins saying the battery life was gone and it was dropping calls. 15 or 20 new cell phones within a few years. So my biggest problem with Best Buy is I can't away with anything over here. Could it be? Did I put Circuit City out of business? I probably helped : (

On to Best Buy, the parking stinks as this place is packed no matter when you go. You can hardly find any good deals even in their open box items. Take the 400 disc DVD changer I got right before CC closed; paid a nice $170 on a retail price of $500. Best Buy also had the same changer open boxed and the time; but wouldn't budge on the $345 tag. We've almost filled the changer up in two years!

We ended up over at BB the other night after Sam's failed to impress us with a decent selection of laptops. We purchased a HP with a AMD processor (contributing to the wife's paycheck). We got it home only to have it crash within two hours out of the box. Thanks Mr. Gates and your new Windows 7. I exchanged the defective one and am happy to report no issues at this point. We did have to ask for one that had not been updated by the Geek Squad. They charge you $40 just to install the same anti-virus software you can get simply by clicking a button when the PC boots up initially.

So I guess its three stars; the store is ok. They were helpful not charging me the restock fee when I turned in the defective PC. The movie section is top notch; and the staff is usually friendly when you can catch one of them. Maybe I just need to get one of the extended warranty brochures and find some loop holes.

This Best Buy is where i do most of my electronic shopping for the last decade. From movies to printers to TV, everything. I have a Best Buy Card and is a reward zone member. However, I really think Best Buy overall has gone down hill as a store. Ever since Fry's opened and Circuit City died. Best Buy used to have the best deals around and pretty decent selection. Now they seem to really cut down on their selection. All generic brands are now replace by their own Dynetec or whatever its call brand. Pricing at Best Buy can be ridiculous. sometimes 400% more than online prices at Amazon. Especially on small computer items such as cable or connections. They at this time pretty much carry only a few big brand names of any item and then their own generic brand at a slightly lower price and thats it. Fry's though not cheaper by much in comparison carries a lot more choices and you can select a item at a lower price if you don't need a gold plated Monster HDMI Cable for your liver. Movie wise, the selection is still very much limited to major studios and very little Foreign or Indie selection.

Just overall impression of the store from someone who has been going regularly for 10 years. Less and Less selection, higher and higher prices.

I like this store.  They are very friendly and I had a nice experience with their home theater installation service.  The guy who came to my house was a real pro.  He is no longer working at Best Buy (I keep in touch with him) but the work he did was better than what I received from another local home theater company that was highly rated.

The store itself is fairly new and has a Magnolia in it.  I have also had a couple items delivered from this store (washer and dryer).  The manager who I dealt with provided a very nice discount and the two guys who delivered and setup the appliances were great.

My only complaint is that the DVD selection is weak.  I tried stopping in for movies a few times and left empty handed.  Oh well, that is why I have Netflix.

This Best Buy has a HUGE selection! You know how...you go into a store, hoping it'll just be an endless journey of Ooooh's and Aaaah's? Sometimes, you're greatly disappointed and always get the following:

"We don't carry that item, but there's another location on the OTHER side of town that closes in 13.4 minutes. We can tell the staff to hold if for you to purchase..IF you get there on time" And you stand there and the words "IF YOU GET THERE ON TIME" echoes in your head. ;) Exaggerating? ...maybe a little. lol, point of the matter is, this location is stocked, and ready for ACTION!

The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Some stores you have to play hide and seek with them. Not here, the staff doesn't run from you at this location. Old or new, they've got it. :) I was pleased. I'm sure you will be too!

Best Buy opened a new store in the Stone Hill shopping center in Pflugerville.  This store is one sorry store.  They display items they do not have in stock, the selection is VERY limited.  Every time I have gone into that store I left unhappy and had an unplesant shopping experience.

They have had a change of managers as often as you change your socks.  No wonder it is such a miserable place to shop.  I called to their corporate headquarters and suggested they think about closing the thing tearing it down and starting over.  They put one of the smaller footprint stores and that is more than likely why they carry such a limited amount of items.

The floor staff is helpful and knowledgable but many times you hear " out of stock", "don't have that", "sold the last one", "our inventory shows we have 3 can't find any".  When you check out even if you ask to make sure they scan the items so you don't set the alarms off, you can bet the alarms will go off.

Why Best Buy put such a small store there and under sized it that badly is anyone's guess.  Once again Ausitn area business afraid they might sell something.  If you have to go into a store and work to spend your money, or settle for what they have rather than what you are looking for it is just stupid.

    This is one sorry store.

That's it Best Buy, we're through. Your store layout is arranged by idiots, your staff have no idea what they are talking about, and your cd/dvd selection sucks.  Call me crazy, but sometimes I like it when a salesperson actually acts interested in what I'm doing. Maybe if just one of the five standing around chatting in every department could offer some help instead of completely ignoring you. Stupid big box stores.

I got internet last week at this Best Buy.  I got Clear, which I was unsure about because I didn't know much about it.  But it has been amazing!  The sales guy that helped me was named Austin and he was really helpful.  He even helped me set it up.

Time Warner cable really screwed me, so I'm so happy to have finally switched.

    Hope this helps!

Best Buy rocks.  I know it is a big box store but it will get my business anyway.  I bought a Kodak digital camera there and it broke while still under warranty.  Koday wasn't going to fix it though and wanted me to mail it off.  I went back to Best Buy and they gave me a brand new camera of equal value.  Done.  End of Story.

I can't help but say THANK YOU to Brian at Best Buy!!  After purchasing a VERY crappy HP model laptop, I came home to find out I was very dissatisfied with it.  I called, because I know their return policies are a little strict, and I talked to Brian and explained to him my situation.  He let me return the laptop without a restocking fee and buy another laptop that was so much better!!  Everyone I dealt with there helped me so much dealing with the situation and I can't help but give a HUGE THANK YOU!!!

This is a case of a very accurate store name but a bit of the unfinished sentence.  One is advised that is BEST to BUY here but never try to return anything.  Know what you want and keep it.  This is the most painful, slowest, and aggravating customer DIS-service line in the world.  They work hard to separate you from your money as quickly as possible, but lord help you if you find that you don't want it or that is doesn't work.  Go to Fry's instead or CompUSA if you must.

Regarding the Best Buy Warranty for the HTC EVO 4.  When I purchased the phone and Sprint plan from them, they convinced me I should have the warranty, that the advantage of them over the Sprint warranty was that Sprint sends the phones off for repair, whereas Best Buy just hands me a new one.  So far, my phone is okay BUT my son, who has the same warranty and same sales pitch has a different story.  He was told when he bought it that he could walk out in the parking lot, accidentally drop it and someone run over it, he could come back in the store and they'd replace it.
His phone was okay for a few months then started rebooting itself.  He returned it to Best Buy and they sang an entirely different song.  They shipped his phone off to Dallas to even get it approved to repair!!! And the phone has been gone nearly a month.  They offered him a loaner and told him he'd want to insure the loaner, and also leave a security deposit on the loaner phone!!!!  He is already paying for insurnace on a phone that is in THEIR possession.  He refused to do either and they gave him a cheap phone to use until his is returned.
If there was a 'no star' option, that's what they'd receive.

I'll post further information as I receive it.

Let me start by saying that we have had nothing but good experiences at the Best Buy in Bee Cave. That being said, I'll never go into the Best Buy store on 290 again.

Hubs found a printer he HAD to have online and it wasn't in stock at the Bee Cave store, so I went to the store on 290 to pick it up.

SEVERAL customer service issues, including a down-right rude check-out chick and 4 blue-shirt guys who couldn't be bothered to help.

290 guys ..... take a lesson from the Bee Cave guys.

I couldn't find a single person to help me with a simple question and the one guy I did find clearly saw me staring him down and pretended he didn't see me. I finally gave up on making an exchange and just went to customer service for a refund which is where I found all the missing employees. Gathered in a clump gossiping among themselves as I approached they still pretended not to see me until they had concluded their conversations and begrudgingly approached the counter to give me my money back. I rarely ever go to Best Buy and now I remember why.

My problem is not with Best buy but with their repair service.  We had a dryer that was 9 months old break.  geek squad guy came out.  said he had to order a part.  Made an appt for the following week but said he wasn't sure when the part would be in.  Got a automated message that GS would be out to replace it that day (WED).  I called to verify, and they told me the guy who "had" the part could not come out, but anther guy could..but he didnt have to part so had to reschedule again.  Appt delayed another 6 days.  GS came out.  Part was wrong part.  Had to order again.  GS man said they would "over night" and come out immediately and replace at "our" convenience.  this was on a wednesday.  By the following monday i still had not heard back.  I called and complained very loudly.  Part was located.  Tech scheduled two days later.  Part replaced.  total down time.  24 days.  total cost for doing laundry out,  about $75.
