I always have a ton of fun at Beso, but it wasn't until last night that I looked around and truly appreciated the place.  The people, the DJ, the dancing and the atmosphere are what make this place different.  It's laid-back, but still up-beat.  You can wear jeans and flip-flops or you can be super dressed up and either is accepted.

We were hanging out last night at Beso then decided to go to The Madison.  I'm not going to talk any more about that place, but needless to say, we went right back to Beso and had so much fun.

Much love for this rad Austin bar.  Props to Leo for being the king of hospitality and always showing us a good time.  See you again soon!

Great DJ=Great Music=Great Dancing=FUN

We ended up here by accident. We were looking for another club, but apparently it's been closed for a year. The bouncer saw our dumbfounded looks and said we should simply try Beso, and we might like it.

We did have a great time and ended up staying here a couple of hours. I wasn't up for dancing, but everyone else around me was dancing it up!

We happened onto this place on Friday when the bar we were suposed to meet friends at was empty. My sisters and I grabbed some drinks (6.50 for a vodka/soda - boo) and posted up on the couches lining the wall. Cool vibe here, wish we'd gotten there early to snag the cool loungy area up at the front. We didnt sit for long, the DJ was fantastic. Not just an ipod - he was mixin it up. Dance floor is pretty small but that made it fun, cuz people had to overflow into the space between the couches and the bar. Made it seem more casual and like a real party. Other than than the bi-otches giving us the stink eye from the lounge area, everyone was really friendly - everyone danced with everyone. we had a blast!

I know this place must be cool because I recognized a dude from the Alamo's Pirate Party (IM ON A BOAT!). He was in full on pirate get up that night, but I recognized that mischievous (somewhat creepy) smile. Anywhere a pirate goes, must be awesome, right?

Good date place, or a lady's night. You could dress pretty fancy and fit in here, or go pretty relaxed too. If not for the drink prices, i would have given it five stars. I figure when I go back, I I'll just wear a low cut blouse and see if I can get a pirate to buy a wench a drank!

It's alright. Nothing special. Had a few friends come out with me last night for my birthday. Band sucked. We decided to start taking shots for everytime we saw the lower half of a slut-butt, but decided early on, we were not prepared for that kind of drinking!

My favorite bar EVER!
I am actually pretty hard to please when it comes to "clubs". I can't take it if it's too uppity, or too energetic. It has to be juuuust right. This place is it!
I started coming here because Jasin (the lovely bartender from Lucky Lounge) opened up this place with some other owners (I think) and I wanted to check it out because he was my fave. The decor is amazing-red, Spanish (or Mexican?)-inspired with iron sculptures and mirrors. Gorgeous! The bartenders are sexy and attentive. The entire staff is just really sweet and they make you want to come back. Not to mention they usually have a really great, mixed crowd of people and groovy music.
Love love love!

warm lighting, good(ish) music, good drinks.  the atmosphere makes it seem less crowded than it is, but still intimate, which is always good.  the music was a little too loud to actually have a conversation with anyone, but maybe i'm just old.  i don't think you can technically call yourself a cantina if you don't serve sangria, but it's still a fun place to kick off a friday night.  especially if you've already got a couple drinks in ya.

Great little nightspot. Usually end up here after starting off the evening at The Gingerman or somewhere else.

There's an outdoor smoking patio that's perfect for you smokers out there. The decor is trendy cantina style, with tile floors, an upraised stage, and an awesome upstairs area.

Typically when you walk in, the bar seems crowded, but just make your way through the crowd to the stairs in the back right. A short walk and it's usually not that crowded upstairs, or a table is available. You can also gaze down on the crowd from above.

Bathrooms are usually nice and clean too, which is always a plus.

I'm not rating the music on this, because they're usually playlisting hip tracks, and that's good enough when you're barhopping.

With the closing of Foundation I did wonder what would fill the void in that big space.  Now the wondering is over with Beso Cantina.  I went on their soft open and had a blast.  Good DJ, beautiful people, and plenty of bartenders.

There is an upstairs seating area and another bar. (Which when you first enter you think the bar is really busy and you will have to wait awhile.. Just go upstairs..)  Great place to have a conversation and look over the downstairs crowd and check the scene out.

It was a little weird seeing the DJ booth as soon as you walk in against the wall.  You feel like you might cause a record to skip as you walk in..

Other than that, great place to start or end the night as a meet up early or late spot.  Plus if the DJ is spinning solid tunes you may want to spend the whole night dancing!

I wasn't impressed with the DJ.  Played some old-ass music and didn't transition well.  Didn't get crowded but music was too loud to talk and too crappy to dance. I got bored.
The patrons were attractive, well- dressed. The drinks were about $5 for a small tumbler filled with ice.
Bathroom was clean and stocked! (important for us girls)

Best UP and COMING Joint in Town

Personally, I love a place I can walk into, alone OR with a group of friends and ALWAYS get a hug and an inviting smile from the folks that own and operate the place!! Literally, the owners are ALWAYS there to give the royal treatment to anyone and everyone that walks in the door. The music is always going and drinks-a-flowing. EVEN the bathrooms are freaking inviting with FRESH flowers, fresh flowers in a bar?? Heck yeah!! Oh and because those guys are so silly and creative, make sure you grab yourself a squirt of the AQUA NET as you stare at yourself in the full length mirror, gotta love the smell of "fresh from the 80's" Aqua Net!!! For those of you that don't know what the word 'BESO' means .... it means "Kiss" and for those of us that like to do so, just head for the stairs - a camera is always ready - or at least when I am there!! Another selling point, the hooks under the bar - who doesn't LOVE the ability to hang their purse/jacket and not worry about it getting kicked around on the floor - JUST DON"T FORGET IT. That's your own fault - I'M JUST SAY'N!!!! When the DJ is there he plays what you ask and he does so with a genuine smile!! SO WHAT if there is not a sign outside the building!! It takes just one fabulous experience and the memory of it will lead you back again and again!! The address: 307B W 5th St - Just keep your eyes open for the smiling door guys in the suits - how the heck can you miss that??? I have worked in the service industry AND the corporate world, I know what good service is and I know when I am out of the office and ready to have the ROYAL treatment - BESO's is where I am headed!! I promise you will not be disappointed!!! That is my story and I am sticking to it!! Peace - Love - Happiness

This is for a Saturday night review. Cool thing is that dress code is not strictly enforced. Jeans, tshirt & shoes are perfectly accepted for the guys, and obviously for the ladies, shorter dresses move you up to the front of the line. I didn't realize it last time I was there, but they've got an upstairs section w/a smaller bar and additional seating. As of last night, it was way easier getting drinks at the top bar compared to the huge bar downstairs. It drew a really good crowd last night, but besides the difference in crowd size, there was a huge differnce in drink prices. Tuesdays $2.00 Bud Light was now $4.00. I don't know how much everything else called, but the tab included 2 budlights, 2 tito's vodka & red bull, and two sexy alligators, and the table totaled $59.00. Both of us were pretty shocked at the total. Now did we get $59.00 worth of alcohol, no way by far. I was just as sober after the drinks as I was before the drinks. Yes sadly so.
