I took my mom here for a birth day lunch. The food and service was very good. My mom got a slice of cake on the house.

Wow!
I have been driving by this place for about 7 years on the drive between my parents house in Mass. and where I live in CT. - but I never stopped! Truth to be told, my boyfriend and I often stop at Cindy's, a diner just down the road from Bentley's when we make this drive. This time we planned to do the same, but Cindy's was closed at 8:01pm when we arrived. We were starving so decided to try Bentley's on a total whim.
WHAT AN AWESOME SURPRISE! The outside of the tavern and the awkward american flag sign out front do not do this place justice! When we opened the door, it was warm welcoming tavern filled with diners and a live musician who was really good.
The food was pretty good, I recommend the Nachos and the people (patrons and staff) were friendly. The couple eating next to us described the place as "an awesome local place". Although I am not a local, that is definitely the feel I got from Bentley's. -

Read other reviews since we were in town for only a night. They were spot one except for one thing: crab cakes here rocked! I got the appetizer and it was very substantial. The chipolte mayo was perfect! My mate had a cheese burner and was very happy. It's a small place, but the service and atmosphere was comfy. I'd come back for sure if I'm back in the area.

Next time your in North Scituate, I highly suggest you drop by Bentley's for a beer or a steak sandwich.
This is my favorite kind of place. Clearly a local favorite and for good reason. Friendly people, good food and a comfortable atmosphere. If you have ever seen No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, this is the kind of place he seeks out.
It was the owners birthday and she had a table reserved that she gave to our party just because we were already there.
The salad was gourmet with a delicate dressing and shaved Romano cheese. Totally unexpected from a tavern with early American flare. The steak sandwich was so kick ass, I want to go back tonight and get another.
Becky had a chicken pot pie that came out in it's own little package. with an awesome gravy.
There was a guy with a guitar playing pop hits that was average, but not too loud and all catchy tunes so I'm keeping the 5 star status -

We love this place. The interior is really cool, like an English hunting lodge. The food is really amazing for such a tiny tavern. My filet was perfect!!! Steak sandwich is yummy. I also like that its 21+. Thats right, no kids allowed here. Acoustic music on Friday nights.

Nick's right, it is a local favorite...the bartender's are charismatic and know when it's time for another drink, the selection of beer, wine, booze far exceeds what you would expect from a local joint. The menu is limited for a good reason... the cooks like to perfect what they are good at... I haven't been let down yet... The sirloin is great, the tuna wrap will blow your socks off... and the specials are usually awesome (bring the seared scallop special back please).
The entertainment is local but talented... and just as Nick said... never over the top loud which is perfect. Great place to unwind.
Keep in mind it is a local place, and in RI...everyone knows everyone so your server may be slow in getting back to you because they are catching up with someone... so if you need the A-1, the cheese, butter... your beer/wine is getting low, think ahead!
It is a cozy place, we've never had to wait for a table but we go during off times... the bar is huge so if you walk in and the tables are full step right up order a pint and eat up.
They do have a wine tasting... not sure of the schedule... pretty nifty for a little bar... I haven't been... but sounds like an experience, good chance to dress up a little, taste some of the better things in life... specialty menu for those nights... usually something out of the ordinary...i.e. duck, foie gras, just a little more classy, they are iniviting... last time we saw it is was $50 a person for dinner and wine...(which is probably close to what you'd spend anyway for a night out)
Good stuff, outdoor covered patio area for you smokers (in summer only). Well worth the trip everytime. -

I tried very hard not to give this place 5 stars, but could not think of a reason not to. Went on a Monday night, "open mic" night. Lots of locals mixed crowd. Awesome bartender, good drinks. Highly recommend the Chicken flat bread with mixed greens caramelized onions and balsamic appetizer. WORTH THE TRIP ALONE! I had a Reuben, delicious and tender and friends had a burger and steak wrap awesome! Open mic looks like it starts at 7:30, get there early for a spot, the place is small and very nicely decorated. the word cozy comes to mind. Would definitely go again.
