Attended a private party on the top floor bar last night - the view is gorgeous, you can see pretty far down the East River and it overlooks the 59th Street bridge.

Service was great, drinks and food were delicious.  A great night.  I would definately go back with friends for a night out, or throw a party here.  Loved the lounge/couch area.

This hotel is ok.  Pretty standard room, nice linens, comfy mattress, and the housekeeping staff does a nice job. We got upgraded upon arrival to a deluxe room instead of the regular one that we had booked, so be sure to ask if they can upgrade you when you check in! The only issues were that there were some suspect stains on the carpeting and the shower enclosure is not long enough, so water gets all over the floor while you are showering.  I will agree with some of the other posters that the clientele can be a little sketchy--my friend got hit on repeatedly by some Europeans whose wives were with them at the time. Classy.  They also charge for wi-fi ($15 a day) which is a big rip off in my book.

After four nights of hostel living, it was time for a change.

I stayed here with a friend for two nights for $120 a night.

This place is all the way on the East side. Its a 10-5 min walk from the nearest subway stop so if your coming back late night you should take a cab.

Anyways, the rooms are nice. We had two big queen beds. Everything was really clean. We had a big TV. The bathroom was awesome. The view was beautiful though. We could see Roosevelt Island in ours.

The only negative thing about our room was that there is no sliding shower door or curtain so water will get on the floor. And also water tends to sit in the shower for a while.

Also, the place has a rooftop restaurant and bar. The drinks are expensive but the view is gorgeous. You see most of the east side, the queensboro bridge, and queens.

I would definitely stay here again.

The walls here are extremely thin. I heard some noise when I first walked in and figured it was coming from the street. Um...no. It was the lady in the room next to me chit chattin' on her telephono. Mildly annoying but luckily I was heading out anyway!

It was clean and the staff was very friendly. There was some pretty sketchy clientèle though. There was a weird Italian man verbally abusing his wife which was sort of awkward. Another few sketch ball characters. Not sure what kind of crowd this hotel attracts but not one that I would typically associate with.

Last but not least, there is a mysterious charge for $13.01 on my credit card. I called to inquire and it's for a mini bar charge. Anybody that knows me would know that a) I would never take anything from the mini bar due to exorbitant prices and b) I would never choose to take the apple juice and vodka. I mean, come on. So, I have a message to the manager to revoke this charge. If it is revoked, my review stays at 3 stars. If it is not revoked, my review goes down to 1 star. Stay tuned...

They revoked the charge! Solid 3 stars goes to the Bentley Hotel in NYC.

My best friend and I stayed at the Bentley during our birthday vacation. We stayed for a week. The hotel is very unassuming from the outside. If you take a cab or shuttle from an airport to the hotel, your first thought when the vehicle pulls up is probably, "Huh? We're here?" The Bentley is located next to a gas station and an animal medical center. Neither of these establishments are a detriment to the atmosphere of the hotel, though.

Once inside, the lobby is bright, clean, and hip-looking. Off to one side of the lobby is a cappuccino bar. Online, the bar is featured as a 24-hour cappuccino bar, but when we went down for coffee in the middle of the afternoon, it was unattended and no coffee was available. The bar is by no means a fancy cafe; rather, it isn't much more than an espresso machine.

The staff is generally helpful with any bags you might have. Housekeeping is hit or miss. They do tidy the room every time, in addition to changing the sheets, but several times, they removed our dirty towels and didn't leave us with an entire set of clean ones. There were two of us, and at one point, we had no wash cloth and only one bath towel. One morning, we had maintenance knock on our door at least three times asking to come in and change the mirror (switched out for an identical mirror...?), and the last time, when we didn't answer quickly enough, the guy barged in and quickly apologized when he saw that we were still occupying the room.

The rooms are nice, and air-conditioned. The beds are very comfortable, with ample pillows. The bathroom does not have a fan, and I believe that this led to the mildew or mold in our shower. The water did not drain from the tub quickly, so showers were taken in ankle-deep standing water. The water gets warm enough for a shower, but never truly hot.
The view from our 10th-floor room was very nice, overlooking the river and other high-rise buildings that give the place a "big city" feeling.
On our last day, the doorman offered to have a driver take us to the airport, which wasn't free, but it did save us a good amount of money versus taking a cab or shuttle.

A minor bone I'd pick with the Bentley? Their first aid kit wasn't stocked with any bandages. That's a basic first aid item!

Also, instead of getting room service, order from The Ritz Diner; they deliver, make GOOD food, and are only a few blocks away. There should be a pamphlet with their contact information in your hotel room.

In all, the Bentley is just fine if you're spending time exploring the city, and even if you want to lounge around the room a bit. We spent a good amount of time in the room, and it was enjoyable and comfortable. I might discover hotels in other parts of the city, but I wouldn't mind staying at the Bentley again.

This is a good hotel. They have a decent bar area to hang out and have drinks before going out. I stayed here because it is close to my husbands sisters apartment- it isn't really close to the action though. This place is VERY cost friendly for NYC.

The Bentley Hotel is four stars (out of five)- service is one and a half - so I am giving it three stars. The hotel itself is very nice with a good location and chic lobby. My room was clean, spacious, nicely appointed, (plasma TV, Frette linens) and a gorgeous view of the city and river. You have to call room service for ice and they delivered it with in 5 minutes everytime- very nice. Taking a shower is awkward as one must stand in the tub to turn on the water due to a stationary glass wall that extends to the center of the tub - but it's not really a big deal.

The doormen were very professional and friendly. Great job guys--  4 stars for you! However I found the rough-around-the-edges front desk staff cold and unwelcoming.

While we were checking out I witnessed a man who asked the "concierge" about getting a cab to the airport-- the guy at the desk, concentrating on his ipod, barely looked up and snapped "ask a doorman" - end of conversation back to the ipod he went.

I too experienced Motel 6 behavior from the front desk staff: one word answers/responses, minimal eye contact, lack of enthusiasm, etc. There is hope for the Bentley - it has a lot going for it, the front desk staff just needs to reflect the quality of the rest of the hotel.

This is where we always stay when we go down to NYC for the night or weekend.

If you are looking for luxury, the more affordable rooms here are not it, but that isn't to say this isn't a great place to stay for a reasonable price. Especially in a city where most hardly spend any time in their hotel room. I use it to store my stuff, shower and sleep. It's a perfectly lovely place to do all of that.

The rooms are sort of shabby chic. Modern decor that isn't flashy or expensive, but I find the beds very comfortable and everything is always CLEAN, which is super important to me.

The bathrooms don't have a shower curtain or door, which is sort of strange and water gets everywhere, but all in all I would highly recommend this hotel. It's the cheapest, decent hotel in NYC and in a pretty sweet neighborhood, in my opinion. Usually when I am there and when I lived in Manhattan, I didn't spend a lot of time on the east side, but I am glad I have discovered more of it by staying at the Bentley.

The Bentley hotel is situated right on the border of East Midtown and the Upper East side. With easy subway access only a few blocks away, as well as a variety of great local restaurants such as Sushi Seki, Angels Italian, and the Ritz Diner.

The rooms are better than average, clean fluffy pillows, large windows, and spacious bathrooms. A nice touch is the fact that the comforters are put into clean duvets each time house keeping visits, as we've all seen those ultra violet stain exposes on Nightline.

The rooftop bar is fairly nice as well, quite a view. We didn't try the food at the restaurant, but judging by the few people who frequented it, we couldn't imagine that it'd be anything super exciting.

The hotel staff needs improvement, more often than not there was a frustrated or confused face of a patron at the front counter, dealing with the desk staff who through our experience were not the most knowledgeable or excited about assisting you in your needs

The Bentley seems to be an average hotel that got a grand make over recently, interesting sculptures, chic furniture, but the actual services and people that work there are still just average. So don't expect the world on a silver platter, you'll be disappointed. However, if you stay at The Bentley with full knowledge of its average stature in mind, you're sure to have a pleasant stay.

I myself look forward to my next trip to the city, and will be more than happy to stay here again.

The rooms are so small! Even more so if you are sharing a room with someone. Overall, it was great to come back to after a long day. The staff was friendly, the sheets were changed daily, the bathroom was also very clean. I would certianly stay here again.

Also, I really enjoyed the bar on the 21st floor. I didn't eat at the restaurant, but the view is just lovely.

I totally agree with Jen. The last time I visited New York was about 5 years ago and we stayed at the Bentley Hotel. Whenever I'm reminded of the Big Apple, the Bentley Hotel comes to mind short after. So, I thought maybe I'll write a little something on yelp.

I remember the decor being very modern and trendy. Once you walk into the lobby, you cannot miss the sitting area to your left. They designed it in such a way that though small and secluded in the corner, it's furniture and colors draw your atttention immediately. The views from this hotel is also very memorable. It's too bad the room was a bit small.

I have never eaten at their restaurant. I only made it upstairs for breakfast once- I just barely made it. By the time I got there, there wasn't much of anything left. It went a little something like this- hungry, sleepy, hung over, and managed to grab the last piece of toast.

I can't say enough about the Bentley.  This is an great, European-style hotel with a (potentially) amazing view.  I reserved my room online and was automatically upgraded to a junior suite.  (In a city where the average room is the size of a closet, I don't have to tell you how truly amazing it was to receive a complimentary upgrade to a VERY LARGE room.)

All in all, this was a very nice boutique hotel with a great location.  You are walking distance from Madison and 5th.  There is a Epicurean grocery store on the corner if you are interested in creating a bedroom picnic and the neighborhood is teeming with activity.  For best results ask for a room on one of the top floors.  We stayed on the 19th floor facing west and had an amazing view of the East Side and the 5th street bridge.

On the four star side, amenities were limited, breakfast was mediocre, and they had poor wi-fi reception (which I had to purchase at $9.95 a day).  But, to be honest, these are really nitpicky things that don't matter in the long run.  There is a great French Bistro, a pastry shop, and a gazillion other places to eat in the neighborhood and if you need wi-fi go to the Apple store.

Can't wait to stay here again!

The bar & small restaurant on top of the hotel has AMAZING 360 degree views of Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn.  It's quiet and lovely and the drinks are delish & a bit expensive.  The lighting makes everyone look pretty and there's long comfy couches good for big groups.  There's even a small wraparound deck outside for cig smoking and sweet-nothing-whispering.  And there's none of the pretentious exclusivity of lots of other top-of-hotel bars in NYC.
I've never stayed here but I hear the rooms are suitably hip-modern-chic, and not too expensive.  For tourists, it's pretty far away from the subways and classic touristy things, but if you want a quiet retreat in a safe neighborhood (that is fun to explore on your way to museum mile), check it out.

This hotel helped to make my vacation more memorable. The room, though barely larger than a small closet, was nice and cozy with a fantastic view. I love the capuccino machine(s) in the lobby and the rooftop breakfast was surely sufficient. I've only been to Manhattan once so when I think about NYNY, I think about the Bentley.

I didn't stay in the rooms here, but we spent Thursday evening at the bar, and then Sunday had brunch there.  The view is incredible, a beautiful view of the 59th Street bridge, and a wonderful patio.  I didn't pay for drinks so I don't know what the prices are like, but they sure do give you a bit of bang for your buck.   Lots of places to sit and enjoy the company of friends, and it's not loud or overwhelming.   I think the only complaint any of the family staying at this hotel had was that the elevators were very dark, so all in all, a great place.

I live across the street from the hotel so I have never stayed there but the bar on the top of the hotel is one of my favorite spots. It's a bit removed from everything being on york avenue and it's right next door to a gas station. But once you get to the top bar, you forget all that and you can just look all around you for some great panoramic views of manhattan/queens, and it's right on the east river so you get a water view too with the lights coming from the queensboro bridge. The wraparound deck is a lot of fun because it's dark and there is seating outside. So you can just sit out there with a drink and no one will really bother you. It's quiet bar, so I wouldn't go there looking to party but it's a nice place to take someone special for some drinks with some amazing views.
