2 reviews for Bent Elbow Tavern
This may be an unfair review, since I only went in for a quick beer on a Friday afternoon. But wow, if a bar could screw up a draught beer any worse, I don't want to know about it.
Friday afternoon. Hot. Walked from Temple U in Fort Washington back home to Erdenheim. Decided to stop in for quick libation. $5.00 and a skunky Stella Artois. The place looks welcoming from the outside, but once you walk in, the ambience is more like late 70's dorm room after a thursday night kegfest. Stinky, dark, loud. I guess this is great for the clientele they get. But I felt depressed. I was hungry but I dare not try the "food". There were a bowl of pretzel nuggets from 1998 that looked appetizing. not.
So, I'm being hard. I realize that. And the parking lot is filled on weekends, so who am I? Eh, it's just a neighborhood dive. I guess I have to give it two stars just for being around. I guess I've just graduated to stuff that's just a little bit better.

The bent elbow is a fun place to go after work for happy hour. It's a big place, not what I'd call a bar, but I don't know what else to call it. There are two bars and at least five rooms. It's neither hip nor divey, but it is popular and lively. I think that some nights they have a band and/or dancing. For me, the place doesn't have much in specific to recommend it, except for a fun atmosphere, and that I've enjoyed myself each time I've gone.
