I came here to re-size my watch, clean my emerald ring, and quickly appraise a few diamonds.

Six minutes and 10 dollars (plus a tip) later, I left with a perfectly fitted watch, satisfaction at knowing the type of diamonds in my possession, and a ring that has never sparkled so brightly.

Excellent customer service. And I'm a curmudgeon, so I don't say that lightly. I also tend to think of jewelers like I do auto mechanics - no idea if they're trustworthy or telling the truth. But Benson's won my trust.

I cracked my honey's Alessi watch face with a wine bottle - oops! - and they fixed it beautifully. The watch face glass is unusual and raised a bit, and the repair is identical. I called a couple of times to check on the status, and they knew exactly who I was within seconds on each phone call - no fumbling moments where they looked for me/my watch or made me feel anxious that the repair wasn't in the works.

I also took in a knotted necklace chain and they untangled it in SECONDS, for FREE, using PUSH PINS. If that's not the hallmark of a total pro, what is?!

Finally, I've been having a hard time finding a wedding band that will match my engagement ring, but they brought out a couple that were perfect after listening to what we wanted. I won't hesitate to go back when we're ready to buy our wedding bands!

    Five stars!

My engagement ring had been plagued by loose stones, but not anymore thanks to Benson's Jewelers.

Based on the reviews of this place, I decided to take my ring to Benson's in order to have one of the diamonds remounted. Since the store where it was purchased is in Tysons Corner and couldn't promise a quick turnaround, I called Benson's to find out how long it would take to repair (I am going on my honeymoon next week and wanted to have it ready before then) and was told it would take one business day. The store is in walking distance from where I work so I took it in the same afternoon.

The man who helped me, Ken (I think), welcomed me, and was with another customer at the time. A few minutes later, he was able to help me and assessed the condition of my ring on the spot.

It turned out that the original jeweler who assembled my ring had used stones too small for the setting, but he was confident their jeweler would be able to fix it. He estimated $100 for the job and I felt confident that he knew what he was talking about (again based on the other great reviews on here).

The next day, he phoned me and let me know my ring was ready. As he took out my ring from the drawer I was excited to see what they did and when I saw it... I was amazed! It looked like a brand new ring!

Their jeweler was able to adjust the setting to appropriately fit the size of the diamonds, so they really pop now and are no longer overpowered by the metal holding them in place. He also covered the part of the ring that was yellowed from where I had it sized down, so the white gold finish was consistent all the way around. The ring feels much sturdier in general now that the setting has been modified.

I gladly paid the $100 plus tax because they made my ring look even better than it did the day I got it. It was worth every penny and my husband agreed. I am so happy with the service, the quality of the work and the super-fast turnaround time. I recommend Benson's to anyone who needs their jewelry repaired.

My fiancée took our wedding rings to Benson's to be engraved.  Unfortunately they used a machine engraving process that was not appropriate for our handcrafted rings and my ring was damaged in the process.   We were able to find a goldsmith to repair our rings...thankfully! And a hand engraver to re-do the engraving.  Benson's refunded our money for the machine engraving.

I brought my watch into Benson Jewelers to get a new battery. They had some trouble with it at first because it was a tricky watch. After I complained they did everything in their power to fix it. They offered to send it to an outside watchmaker and to buy me another watch if they couldn't fix it!
I am really thankful for their responsiveness, and now I have my watch back in perfect working order.
I definitely would recommend them based on their service and responsiveness.

I came across Bensons because it was the only watch repair place near Downtown DC without scary reviews with tales of lost and broken watches.

When I saw the ad about the free watch battery and jewelry cleaning I decided to take my watch in to have some links removed from the band.

The store is conveniently located across the street from Metro Center, the staff is friendly and helpful (despite the fact that I arrived 10 minutes before closing), and removing the links, replacing the battery (free!), and cleaning a silver necklace (free!) took all of 5 minutes.

They also seem to have a nice collection of jewelry and watches.

Be sure to mention Yelp for your free battery and jewelry cleaning!

My watch battery died, and I logged on to Yelp to find a place to replace it near my work. Not only was this the closest place, there was an ad for a free watch replacement. I was sure it was a gimmick, but it wasn't. I walked in with my dead-on-arrival watch, and said I came here via Yelp. They took it from there.

The owners are also really down to earth and cool. I replaced a sports watch battery, but might return for a nice watch here. Their selection is small, but classy and fairly inexpensive. I was looking at Bulova-style watches for $250. They've got some fun jewelry, too, so if you're looking to blow $20 on your lunch hour this might be a place to do it.

I have worked down the streets from Bensons and had never stopped in until recently, when I was looking to have a watch engraved for my husband as a wedding gift.  They were fast and friendly and when they heard about my wedding, they insisted on providing the engraving for free.  I'll be back!

My fiance and I brought my brand-new engagement ring to be re-sized. Unfortunately it was a custom made ring and too difficult a job for them, so they suggested we send it back to the jeweler who made it. I appreciated their professionalism and honesty, and I had a watch re-sized and my fiance had two watch batteries replaced while we waited. Other jewelers may have taken the business and re-sized the ring themselves, but since there was a slim chance my ring could've been damaged they were honest. I would definitely go back to them for other repairs in the future.

This is a no-nonsense shop.  The staff was nice on the phone but not super friendly in person.  No biggie, though - I got a repair done same-day and was happy about the results.  FYI, the person who does repairs is only in on Tuesdays, so if you bring your piece in on a different day of the week, you will probably have to leave it at the shop until Tuesday comes.

They don't have a huge selection of jewelery and watches, but that's fine with me, as I get pretty overwhelmed in those crappy "galleria of jewelery" places.  There was a good mix of price levels, but nothing really high-end.  I was intrigued by some of their non-diamond pieces ... worth another look when I go later this week for an appraisal.

I went in for an easy watch repair (pin replacement) and they were fast and friendly. There was someone else waiting for his watch to be re-sized and he seemed pleased (plus he was standing waiting with his coat on so it couldn't have taken too long).

Watch resizing was $10 (yes I'm a creeper) and pin replacement was $5. According to their website there appears to be a 1 year warranty on repairs, not sure exactly what that covers. They also do jewelry maintenance/repair.

All I can say is what GREAT SERVICE!! Thank you Benson Jewelers! I had stopped in this weekend on a friends reccomendation to get my brand new birthday watch sized. I had just been to the gym and did not look like I belonged there. It didn't matter! He took the links out for me right then and there and since it was my birthday, it was FREE of charge! Amazing place. I will be back again!

I chose to get my engagement ring sized at Bensons for two reasons: 1) excellent Yelp reviews, particularly for ring sizing, 2) close to my office. I am extremely happy with the service I received and my ring now fits and looks wonderful.

I went in last week to drop off my ring and the man at the counter (owner? He was there all three times I was at the store) recommended that I come back on Tuesday, because the person who would take care of resizing would next be in Wednesday. He explained that rather than leaving the ring with Bensons for a week, if I brought it back on Tuesday I would have it back in 1-2 days.

I went back yesterday and an employee named Sam told me that they had received so many rings for resizing in the past 4 days (must be engagement season) that he couldn't guarantee that it would be done this week. The presumed-owner came out of his office when I expressed disappointment and said that although they had received a ton of work he would make sure mine got done since he had recommended that I hang onto the ring and come back after the weekend.

Just 24 hours later, the ring is back on my finger. Color me impressed! It looks great and fits perfectly now. The price was definitely reasonable: $40. I would definitely go back for future jewelry needs and also recommend Bensons to others.

Great service.  I came in to get a clasp on my pearls fixed and two watches repaired.  The guy helping me (I think it was Sam) was super helpful and the prices were much better than I expected. They replaced my watch battery for free because I mentioned the Yelp ad!  I was nervous to leave my jewelry but they made me feel completely comfortable (and they've been in business since 1938).  They took a picture of every piece I left, measured out the string of pearls, and gave a me a ticket for each item.

I came in for a free watch battery replacement, and the owner replaced it himself.  When I mentioned the "yelp discount" he gave me a knowing smile, .  my watch is a bit older, and he normally charges $25 for this service.  I will certainly be back to check out their jewelry at Christmastime.

Time stood still....for only a moment.  Every watch, every clock I owned with a battery seemed to come to a halt over a 10-day period.  And while resorting to a wind-up watch, the search for a watch repair jeweler began and ended with Yelp.  After reading all of these comments I "gathered up my ticks" and headed straight for Bensons.  Ken could not have been nicer.  But more important is how quickly batteries were changed out and time once again...marched on.

I recommend Bensons to anyone and everyone!  And next, will be gathering some broken jewlery together for another round at Bensons.

By the way...mention YELP for a special on battery replacements.

After getting engaged last week and spending the weekend panicking that my slightly big ring would fall off my finger, I started calling around to get it sized. After calling about 4 places in the area and being told that I would have to wait bw 1-3 weeks, I finally called Bensons. They were super friendly and sized my ring in one day. Since I have basically turned into Gollum when it comes to this ring, I cannot be more happy with or appreciative of Bensons!

I just want to share a very positive experience with Bensons yesterday. I went in to get a watch battery changed, as well as advice on converting a citrine ring to a pendant. Despite being fairly busy, I received prompt attention and good advice on my alternatives. Surprisingly, the owner suggested the least expensive alternative, namely using the center of the ring setting to create a pendant. Not only were the results spectacular, but the whole project was completed the same day. Last but not least, my watch battery was changed without charge. Who could ask for more? I will definitely be back!

Extremely professoinal and courteous. Went in to have a watch band adjusted because another jewler adjusted the band unevenly. The man who helped me was very attentive and did not charge me for the adjustment. Other jewelers have tried to charge me $10 for the same service, and had poor customer service...not Bensons. Will definitely go back for any jewelery needs my wife or I will have in the future.

I cannot say enough good things about this place.  I have a watch that I got as a gift from my parents for graduation, which was longer ago than I care to admit and also happened at a time when we did not make a lot of money, so the watch is only a Pulsar.  It is of advanced age now, so when it stopped working shortly after its last battery replacement (which was done at some mall store out in the boonies, not at Bensons) I assumed it needed a major repair, especially since I'd accidentally dropped it in the bathtub for 2 seconds though I fished it out right away and it's supposed to be "water resistant".

There followed an annoying time during which I went around sans watch like I'm some sort of 20 year old hipster relying on my cell phone as a porta-clock (SO not me.  I can't begin to tell you) while looking for either a replacement watch similar to my beloved Pulsar (Sorry, I just don't care for Omegas, or really anything that doesn't have 12 numbers spelled out on a retro white face)  or a place that would fix my Pulsar.  Since this is an older watch and not too expensive, and some of the watch repair tales floating around on Yelp are grim to say the least, I was a bit frightened that if I took it to a cheap place, I would get some guy who didn't know what he was doing or would lose my watch, and if I took it to a fancy jewelry place, I would get some guy who would ROFLOL at my "cheap" watch or else overcharge me.

What a pleasant surprise to call up Benson's and first of all get to talk to an actual, real, nice person who expressed with enthusiasm that yes, they had a watch repair guy and they could help me with my watch.  And what a double-plus-good surprise to go in there a few weeks later when I had a moment, with aforementioned watch, and run into the same nice guy who, after hearing my tale of woe, said he would look to see if it was an easy fix before giving it to his watch man for repair.  He popped the case and determined that the idiots who changed my battery had not set the contact down properly upon said battery, and that said battery was also dead.  He replaced the battery, pushed the contact down, charged me a mere ten bucks (I was prepared to pay much more given the sentimental value of the watch) and sent me on my way with instructions to check back in a couple days if it stopped running.  It's now been a couple weeks and that sucker is running like a champ!  THANK YOU BENSONS!   I will happily have these guys handle all my watch repairs from now on, and frankly, since the service is so good in there, I'm thinking of picking up some nice work jewelry from there too.  Maybe some pearls, of which they have a number of nice conservative looking selections.

I thought I'd be fun and put a ring on that really was too small on the finger I put it on - only to have it get stuck.   These guys were nice enough to help me for free!  Pluse they were willing to help me on the spot and give  me a new watch battery and cleaning for free becuase I mentioned yelp. The only reason I'm not giving them five stars now is because I don't know how much it's going to cost me to get the ring re-sized, but so far so good.  Friendly and willing to help.  A rarity in DC... I would recommend Bensons Jewelers.

Few things could make a lunchtime errand run as pleasant as my experience at Benson's.  I found the shop on Yelp partly because it was near my work and partly because I was extremely freaked out about the stories of woe (and lost items) at other shops.  After standing in a 30 person line at the Post Office and running into an ex-boyfriend on the street I dragged myself and my two broken watches into Benson's expecting an expensive trip and waiting a few days to get my watches back.  The place was blissfully empty and the staff greeted me immediately. One of the watches needed its battery replaced ($20 w/ lifetime guarantee, $15 w/o) and the other needed a strap fix.  The gentleman who helped me (not sure if it was Kenn or Brian) went in to the backroom and fixed both watches on the spot (wait time -- approx 10-15 mins). My total was about $21 with tax - he very sweetly did not charge me for the fix to the second watch.  Highly recommended.

Saw the ad on a free watch battery replacement and stopped in on my lunch break to get mine replaced. Easy as could be - took less than five minutes and was absolutely free. Friendly, helpful, fast, free - what more could you want? The jewelery in the store wasn't exactly my style (very classic) so only giving it four stars, but they did have some estate jewelery at half off which seems like a great deal!

The ad doesn't lie! If you mention Yelp, you get a free watch battery. I went in with two watches & within minutes, I had both watch batteries replaced. The best part was it was only $15. I have been charged more other places. The owner was friendly & very excited to have a Yelp user in his store.
