Great Pizza that they will cook nice and well done so it is just the perfect right of crispy. They have all the basics and some of the oddball stuff too.
They also have a great beer selection that changes often although not huge number wise.
My favorite place for pizza while in Spokane even though the service can be spotty but that is more geared towards the fact that most times they only have two people working. -

I don't know that I'd make a special 60 mile trip over to Spokane just to eat here, but if I was passing through the city and was in the mood for sharing a really good pizza with one or two other people, then I'd definately recommend going here.
Bennidito's is just a really good pizza place, meaning it has that old school pizza parlor vibe, with an arcade game or two for the kids, and pitchers of beer for when you take the office softball team out after a big game. It's that super casual family style sports bar feel, like Pizza Hut used to be back when Walter Matthau was coaching the Bad News Bears.
They're "Spokane's Original Pesto Pie", so on my first trip to Bennidito's that's exactly what I ordered to eat, and I gotta say I was not disappointed with what I had. Big slices, good ingredients, and awesome crust that isn't thick under the toppings, but has a high rising crust that is crunchy on the outside and spongy on the inside. Can you tell I have no idea how to describe what makes a pizza good? But believe me, they make a good pie. -

I split a 15 inch pizza with a friend for our RHOFB viewing party. We had the chicken garden primo, which had: chicken, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes, and mozzarella over a garlic and tomato sauce.
It's huge, very garlicy, and the chicken was dry and tasteless, and relatively expensive.
This place wasn't bad, I've just had better. Service when we picked up wasn't stellar either.
Park in the small lot in the front or in the residential nearby. -

Even if a place offers delivery - I like to pick my pizza up if I can. It's usually more hot, cheaper and easy to make a decision. I walk inside to the counter and say I'd like to make a to go order--the dude looked kind of surprised by that?? Kinda brusk and disinterested, too.
I had a quick errand to run so I asked him how long it'd take to make the pizza--maybe I could multi-task? Nope! He said 10-15 minutes - which was cool. So I sit. And wait. 20 minutes go by, no pizza. 30 minutes go by, and the lady who walked in after me gets her pizza. I go to the front and find out they had made my mine a while ago and just set it out on the warmer. Never said a single thing.
Token apology from the same dude who took my order: "Oh, sorry buddy."
Reason for picking the pizza up obliterated, nobody there really interested in expressing any token remorse. Whatever, onto the food:
Got the "classico" which sounded tasty: artichokes, goat cheese, garlic sauce, tomatoes, and jalepeños. It didn't come with any red pepper on the side, which I thought wouldn't matter--since jalepeños are spicy, right??
Nope! Flavor was fine otherwise, but nothing life changing and the lack of spice was sorely missed. But the crust was the worst part: this giant pillowy, flavorless monstrosity that was a bit like trying to chew through fake halloween spiderwebs. I've never, ever eaten a pizza where I totally skipped on the crust until I went to this place. Nobody here liked the pizza. See you never, Bennidito's! -

If you order a large pizza here, expect it to be HUGE! Bigger than any XL pizza we've had in Seattle! The cheese pizza is amazing! Perfectly cooked crust, delicious sauce and the perfect amount of good quality mozzarella. The beer buddies were something we had to try, the pesto ranch dipping sauce it comes with was worth the order
We have sat inside (too crowded and loud for our taste) and have ordered pick up. I've read several reports of the staff not being attentive enough, but this is a 50+ seating restaurant that gets CROWDED fast. If you want first class serice, I suggest not going to a pizza restaurant that is highly well liked and visited by all the locals or plan to go earlier, give youself some extra time for your order and just RELAX! Or do what we do and order take out! They have a cute little outside seating area as another option. -
Review from Paul C.
Almost good. You can see that they use decent ingredients in their pizza and the crust is made right in the restaurant, but they drown everything in cheese. Way too much! A margharita pizza is supposed to be light and flavorful, not heavy and greasy. Nice try tho.

Been here many times because the pizza is really good. The service is poor though. There are two kinds: snotty or inept. I've decided to try ordering to go in the future so that I don't have to deal with the wait staff. Too many disappointing experiences. But I do like the food.

Worst experience ever in a restaurant. Loud obnoxious music blasting so we could not converse across the table. Ordered spaghetti and meatballs and breadsticks (wife and I). 20 minutes later we get mostly uncooked breadsticks. 20 minutes after that we get cold spaghetti and meatballs with a large platter of "pizza bread". We did know we would get this giant-sized side order or we would not have ordered the breadsticks. The waitress did not tell us these came with the pasta until she ploped them down on top of the so-called breadsticks. She dashed off. When we finally got her attention to raise our concerns she left the cold entre and half-cooked breadsticks on the table and said it would only take a minute to get a hot fresh entre. Off she dashed. With no new food after another 15 minutes we told her to forget it! She said the "dinner" was on the house -- how nice of her!
Still like their pizza TO GO -- that is why they get even one star! -

Pizza was 3.5 stars and I usually round up but the service was horrid so I rounded down and deducted a star.
The toppings, cheese, and sauce were all good. The crust I was pretty indifferent on. I like a crackly crisp crust or a deep dish that is oily and doughy. This crust just missed the mark, but not by much.
As to the service after milling around at the front server kiosk for a while and being repeatedly passed by servers we finally just sat down. After sitting down we were ignored for another 5 minutes (the one server for outside seemed overly busy) so we went and took menus. Now 30 minutes in and no one has spoken to use. We went in and asked if we ordered inside or if someone came to our table. They rudely and abruptly told us it was like any restaurant someone would come to our table. If I didn't want to avoid cooking I would have left. But the pizza was decent so I guess it was okay that the waitress never refilled our cups. It was a nice walking distance from my house and I would probably go here regularly if the service had even been average. But since my waitress (or anyone for that matter) couldn't be bothered neither can I. -

UM. AWESOME.
Only issue...set up a little weird and service was a little weird, but really, I think there were only two guys working on a Sunday early afternoon. Wasn't really sure how this place ran...do we sit? Do we go up to the counter? Do we move the table so it's not all sorts of cockeyed? Little strange, but the pizza certainly made up for it.
Get the original pesto whatever it is... AMAAAZING. Loved it. We got a small Florentine as well which was also very very good. If there's ever a next time I'll be asking for roasted garlic added to the pesto pizza, would have made an already amazing pizza even better.
I keep saying I don't love pizza... but I keep finding pizzas I love... -

We had a build your own with pepperoni, Canadian bacon and mushrooms and it was very good. There wasn't too much cheese on it so you could taste the sauce....which had a bit of a sweet taste to it. The mushroom were well cooked and added flavor (unlike some pizzas we've had).
I'm pretty sure that the crust was hand tossed, definitely not pre-made and out of the box. Well cooked...not burned and not doughy.
Overall, this is the pizza to beat in Spokane. -

Benniditio's is loved by the Spokane crowd; they even won the Inlander's Best Pizza award this year. So we decided that we would stroll around Manito Park and then try them out for a casual pizza dinner.
We started off with the much raved about beer buddies - plain pizza dough cut into small bite-sized sections, brushed with butter (I was told it was olive oil, but we all agreed that it was butter, there were butter fat solids plainly vissible) and topped with commercial parmesan cheese (think Kraft in a can cheese). The concept is good; but the dough, the highlight of the appetizer was tasteless. We had 2 hungry teenagers and two adults present when this appetizer arrived, it did not get finished, we each ate about 1 or 2 and kind of shrugged our shoulders. The only flavor outside of fat, and salt from the commercial cheese came from the sauces. We figured they were called beer buddies because after about 5 beers you just don't care what you eat.
For dinner we had one salad two medium pizzas, one calzone and a salad.
We will start off with the extreme culinary disaster - the calzone was the worst calzone everyone at the table had ever had. That's bad. It was made horribly and looked terrible, overcooked crust, paper thin on the top while soggy and undercooked on the bottom. The appearance of it was a turnoff, but looks can be deceiving. In this case though, they weren't. The flavors inside were just off, we all tried one bite and we all pushed it to the back of the table - YUCK.
The pizza that I and the oldest teenager were eagerly awaiting for was the Benniditos original pesto. I am a pesto fanatic, many times just eating my home-made pesto on crackers for a snack. Ever have basil ice cream - yum I love it. I make pesto pizzas all the time at home, pure delight. But what arrived at our table resembled more like the Exxon Valdez oil tanker disaster. My wife's comment was "That's sick, you guys aren't going to eat that are you?"
The pesto they used appeared to be mostly oil so the whole pie was covered in a layer of unappetizing green olive oil, when we removed the first slice it was like breaking a dam. The oil came cascading off the pizza to fill the now vacant slice area. It took about 12-15 napkins to soak up half the oil but the damage had been done because the bottom of the pizza crust had soaked up the other half.
The excessive oil had ruined this pie, it wasn't finished by us, you could only take 1 or 2 slices of this heart attack on a plate pie, however it had potential, I liked the addition of the ricotta cheese on it although nobody could pick out the flavor of fontina, I think the oil and pest overpowered it.
The only pizza that got devoured was the mowie wowie, in this case the fontina cheese was very prevalent and a great addition, I also make my Hawaiian style pizza with prosciutto, the saltiness of the ham compliments the sweetness of the pineapple very well. The only problem with this pizza was the tasteless dough that had a large amount of raw flour caked onto the bottom. When we were there all pizzas were rolled and but not hand tossed. Hand tossing helps to knock off any excess flour, then the oven floor should be dusted with cornmeal to prevent sticking in the oven, there was no cornmeal evident on our pizzas, hence why they use the flour, but that is wrong.
The highlight of the meal was the salad, which was a good size and value for the money. Lots of fresh greens and toppings and they did have a nice selection of beer on tap. And a special shout out does go to the server there, they were very busy while we were there and she was handling the whole restaurant by herself and doing a great job.
In the end we left with an uneaten calzone, some beer buddies and half of a medium pesto pizza, we stopped by an ice cream store for dessert and when we got home the boys cooked themselves some more dinner.
The moral of the story is, if pizza and calzones go uneaten by teenagers you know you have problems.

I know Bennidito's vs David's is like all classic rivalries: old, bitter, emotional, and impossible to not pick a side.
Sega vs Nintendo
Chipotle vs Moe's
Israel vs Palestine
Canon vs Nikon
you get the idea
And now Bennidito's vs David's. Guess what this Florida native is going to do? That's right, REFUSE to pick a side.
I do think that both places offer the best pizza in Spokane. Which one you find better is a matter of taste, and...in my opinion, is like splitting hairs. Both offer pricier-than-pizza-chain-but-also-tastier pies, both have pretty solid craft beer selections (I think Bennidito's may have the edge here but I usually get take out at David's, update on this forthcoming), both have helpful staff. I personally can't give the edge to one over the other.
I went to Bennidito's very recently, after several recommendations. I wouldn't call the pizza NY-style, I wouldn't call it Chicago-style, and it's not even really like the pizza I had in Italy...it's just "good", "craft", "independent" pizza.
I have yet to review David's, mainly because it's been a while since I ate there. When I do, perhaps my opinion will change. For now, I'm calling it a draw.Listed in: Best places to drink craft…

Full disclosure, I worked for Chris at Bennidito's for three years back in the late 90's.
I just retured to Spokane for the first time in 10 years and have been craving a slice since. When I left there were three stool to eat at and it was allways hot, due to the 650 deree oven. Now this place has expanded into a 50+ seat pizzeria with killer local beers. I had a slice of cheese and my girlfriend and I shared a Pizzano. Everything was just as tasty as I remember. Whole cloves of roasted garlic and huge chunks of melted goat cheese. Since I left I have only had one pizza experince that matched Bennidito's and that was at Ben's Pizza in Manhattan. I hope everyone can have a slice of cheese pizza here before they die. -

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore.
Bennidito's is the place for a bucket of beers and some really good Za.
The unpretentious and laid back style can sometimes result in inattentive service, but all is forgiven when the the thin crust perfectly baked pizza arrives. Bennidito's has some grown-up and gourmet combinations, along with the usual pizza offerings. The calzones are fantastic as well. But the sandwiches are not my favorite.
I prefer the intimate deck, but the newly expanded interior means you don't have to wait anymore. That's Amore!
***David's pizza is still my favorite, despite it being further from home. -

Bennidito's is easily the best pizza I've had in the states. A former co-worker introduced me to this very small restaurant about 6 or 7 years ago when we decided to go on a lunch break. It was definitely worth the small hike to get there. I was sure to tell my mom about the place before I moved away, and she continues to frequent Bennidito's with her friends.
Now, every time I go home to visit family we HAVE to make a trip to Bennidito's. We always get half pisano/half margherita. I've never had anything else in all my time going. If you like garlic, then the pisano is for you. I'm not a big fan of garlic, but my mom is, so I love the fact that they use whole cloves that are easy to pick out. (The lingering flavor is amazing.) And we always accompany the meal with a round or two of merlot. I can't remember prices (since I'm never the one buying), but I think it's fairly reasonable. At Bennidito's, it's the whole experience that's great--not just the food.
BUT...The last time I went home I found out that Bennidito's had expanded. No longer as quaint, there is now a large television that I don't remember being there before (maybe it was and I didn't notice). But the same employees are there, so I feel some sense of normalcy. (Maybe they're the owners.)
Although the setting isn't as intimate as before, I'd say Bennidito's is still one of the best pizza joints in the nation. Seriously.Listed in: What to do when you're in…

Bennidito's or David's. An ongoing argument - the only way to settle it is to keep going to each. Tough job, but someone has to to it.
I did manage to sit through a few beers and a Grand Ave. pizza tonight, at Benniditos, but it still hasn't helped me solve that age old question - which is better? Every time I eat at one or the other, I always think of things that make one better than the other.
But the truth is, they are so evenly matched, I love them both. I do like the atmosphere a little better at Bennidito's, and it is a little closer. But when all is said and done, I like the pizza at both places equally well.
So both of you keep up the good work!! -

The calzones are fantastic!
Try the Chicken Calzone, its made with a pesto sause instead of tomato sauce. Another great feature is that it has whole roasted cloves of garlic. Be ready to take half of it home as the calzones are hugh!
Beer Buddies (bread sticks) are a great starter, especially with a cold pint of beer.
The service at times could be a little more attentive but to date we have always left full and happy! -

Great pizza, no doubt. But as a mom with kids in tow and with a husband who likes to talk to me - we find the tables too damn crowding, and it so loud we can't hear each other. If you're looking to talk to your dinner partner, this isn't the best place to go. Definately no soft, complex dialogues taking place here - not a good "first date" place. We find ourselves yelling at each other, when we visit Bennidiot's its so loud during the dinner hour, but yeah - the pizza is great, we love it. I like to converse - so we find ourselves saying "nah, its too loud and crowded there.." and choose somewhere else. We go out to eat for more than "food reasons" and Bennidito fails on meeting the "non-food" eating out needs.
We love their Growlers - large glass bottles of hop-brew to go. Its the best take out Growler on the South Hill. -

I went to this place when it first opened and was merely a take out place! I raved about the delicious calzones and the owner seemed nice and thankful for our business. We moved out of state for a few years and are not back and to our surprise this place has become a full blown restaurant/bar! We were there in the summer and ordered tow pizzas. One was perfect, but the other was not. It had to be remade and took an additional 25 minutes. . The people I was was with were finished and ready to go before I even had my dinner served. Not that big of a deal but for that long of a wait, one would think that they would offer us a free round or a couple bucks off. Nope! Not a dime. We were so shocked that my hubby went in to talk to the owner and he verified that they would do nada for us! We will not be back there-ever. What a jerk!

Dear Chicago Pizza restaurants: I can honestly say that I wish there was a place like Bennidito's in Chicago. The crust was really fluffy and full of flavor and their beer list was memorized by our wait staff, so well that I gave her a general idea of the beer I like and she came out with the perfect pint for me.

Hands down my favorite place in Spokane. Bennidito's has a cool vibe with great pizza and $7 buckets of beer. The truth is, for $7 buckets of beer, I'd take lousy pizza in a crack house, but luckily, I don't have to.

I'm on the fence about Bennidito's pizza. I found out they have gluten free crust and my husband and I immediately went there with friends. I've been 3 times total. The first time it was awesome and I was an immediate fan! The 2nd time we had carry out and it was cold and undercooked, both the regular and GF pizzas. Very disappointing flavors as well. We gave it a 3rd try and it was awesome again, but I was VERY sick all night long, so I think there was cross contamination big-time!! So I'm on the fence! I want to love it because it's way closer and cheaper than Garlic Jim's in Coeur D'Alene, but I never get sick there and that's priceless. So I will try again and hope for the best...maybe. Or I might just go over to CDA and be safe, happy, and in a pizza food coma.

Based on 4 visits in the past year:
The food is inconsistent, ranging from very good pizza to blah. The salads have been weak. The service ranges from not bad to terrible -- but in all cases the place was understaffed and even if the waitress was good, she was stressed and overworked, and unable to serve us in a timely manner. Oh, and it always takes a lonnnnnnnnnnng time to get served.
Even take-out can be a pain, because the register is left unattended for long stretches.
I might go back there in a pinch... but only if there's absolutely no crowd. There aren't many good alternatives on the South Hill, unfortunately. -

Best pizza I've had in Spokane, without a doubt. The sandwiches and calzones are pretty tasty, too. The salads are green and the appetizers are highly addictive (beer buddies). The pizza is the main event, though. You will eat till it hurts. It's a little pricey seeing as it's pizza, but if you're going out anyway, you might as well stuff your face at Bennedito's. Beer selection is decent. Service is always nice and usually fast. It can get pretty crowded on weekends.

This is the best pizza in Spokane. It's not Chicago or New York pizza good but still very solid. I would rather give it 3.5 stars. The service is good and the sandwiches, salads and calzones are tasty too. They use very fresh ingredients and I like their beer selection.

BENNIDITOS!!!!
i take my pizza fairly seriously and this place is amazing. i loved eating here in high school even though the space was always cramped and their baking was inconsistent, it was still entirely worthwhile.
i go back there a few times every year (whenever passing through town) and it is so consistently perfection now. they expanded their space so there is lots of room and i think a bigger kitchen because i haven't had a problem with undercooked breadsticks in years (even when theyre a little dough-y, they are the best things you have ever had)
-great space. its always a little noisy and there is always a game on all the flat screens. a great place to show up to in a tshirt and order a pitcher of beer. but its clean and amazing food. if you want to trick me into watching football, take me here. its loud like a sports bar but not rowdy or dark or obnoxious so kids can add to the noise!
-best pizza. the dough is the most amazing thing i have ever tasted. im tempted to buy some pizza dough from them to smuggle back to my place in seattle. the toppings are really fresh. i have never been interested in hawaiian pizza but i tried it here this summer and it was divine! i think they used fresh pineapple, it was so juicy and sweet and a perfect contrast to the high quality canadian bacon. indescribable. i also ALWAYS get the grand blvd.
-BREADSTICKS. ive overused caps in this review so i need to emphasize that this it what makes this place unforgettable. these breadsticks are my FAVORITE FOOD EVER. they always come out super hot, covered in melted butter and parmesan. they are really thick twists of really really good bread dough. or, if you arent interested in twists, you can get beer buddies, which are the exact same thing but in pull-apart circles. the sauce they come with is served really cold and the contrast is perfect. honestly, i cant explain how much i love these breadsticks. AND they're under $3 with sauce. ahhh... so good.
if you like pizza, you have to go here. i promise, i would rather go here than any other place in the country. -

Everything about this Bennidito's pales in comparison to the Indian Trail location. IT was the first one that I tried & I was in love. I went to this one twice after & was incredibly disappointed. I don't remember awful service but the food sucked. Even if I lived on the south hill I would trek to Indian Trail instead. It reminds me a lot of David's, with one important perk--Bennidito's doesn't make me sick the next day.

For Spokane, this is as good as it gets. The Pizza is outstanding, tastes fresh every time. David's is OK, a bit New York slice style with extra grease but nothing like Benniditos when it comes to taste and freshness. The new location in 9 mile is small but very good, although the service at both leaves something to be desired. Yelp needs to give two star rating options, one for service, one for food.

two words: beer buddies. these golden brown bread nuggets of delciousness are a little slice of heaven. these might be the best breadsticks you've ever had, and they aren't even sticks. plus they are less than $3.
that being said, pretty much everything else at Bennidito's is delicious and their pizza is the best in town. I would recommend pizza over calzones, and don't bother with the sandwiches because they aren't made with the same delicious bread/crust as the pizza and calzones. The italian sausage is really good here, so I'd recommend anything that comes with that (my favorite is the boogie fever). Other favorites include the Paizano, the Classico, the Saxon, and the High Drive.
the service at Bennidito's is generally iffy (your waiter might write your order on his hand and then bring you the wrong thing) but if they screw something up they fix it really fast and always take it off your bill, so i'm not even taking a star off for it. -

Just moved to town and have asked around about good pizza joints. Love this pizza, and in my opinion, it is WAY better than David's (but I know - everyone has their own taste...) David's has a cool atmosphere, but Bennedito's wins hands down for tasty 'Za. Try the "Grand " - yummy! And the staff is very cool about switching out ingredients if you ask. As a side note, I totally dug the 80's wave mix they were playing on the snowy day I was there!
