These guys are amazing. Plus they're a local business.

You can buy your flowers from a grocery store, but you're not going to find the variety or artful arrangement that Ben White Florist offers.

Their $9.99 dozen rose carry-out special can't be beat. I picked up 2 dozen roses (arranged,  with greenery) - put them in my own vase, and saved probably over $100 compared to what  "online flower http://delivery.com" would have charged.

It's quite possibly the most beautiful arrangement of roses I've ever seen. (And I still have money left over for a nice dinner!)

I had to order last minute wedding flowers for my brother and Debra, the wedding floral consultant, was able to accommodate my very last minute request, no problem! I emailed her photos and she quickly responded with options and pricing. I had to do a few last minute add-ons on top of that and she was flexible and able to help. I ordered a small bridal bouquet, groom's boutonniere, 2 pin-on corsages, 5 family boutonnieres and a linear arrangement that totaled to $421.63. My brother and his wife were very pleased with the flowers and they received a lot of compliments from the guests.

This is an excerpt from my description of the bouquet I received from Ben White Florist for my birthday last year:

"These flowers are really cool, they are from Ben White florist. I highly recommend. 3 of the pink roses are mutants that have two blooms inside each bloom and the greenery they used to fill-in is also really interesting."

These were the best flowers I've ever gotten. They lasted for at least 10 days. I don't know how much they cost since they were sent to me, but if you want to make an impression, flowers from Ben White Florist will probably do it.

If you need to remotely order a special arrangement of gorgeous flowers for your BFF in Austin and have no idea where to start, stop looking and just place an order with Ben White already.

It was hard making a choice between the dozens of beautiful and thoughtful arrangements, but my heart led me to "Loved By Design" - an affordable arrangement of gerbera daisies, hyrdangea, snapdragons and tulips that didn't break the bank. I placed my next day order and received an email confirmation within minutes. Twenty minutes later I got a phone call from Ben White HQ asking permission to substitute the 'not quite in season at the moment' tulips with lilies (hell yes). Very thoughtful and kind of them to call to ask.

The next morning, my flowers were delivered on time without any hiccups and I simultaneously, MOMENTS after the flowers exchanged hands, received an email from Ben White confirming the delivery as well as from my BFF with a thank you note and expressions of extreme glee.

My husband has ordered flowers for me from this place twice.  The first time, he simply asked for "something cool" which resulted in something very uncool.  The arrangement was sort of dopey, like someone with grandma floral taste tried really hard to stretch and were so darn proud of themselves, but to anyone else it looked like a miserable failure.  The flowers looked like they'd been rode hard and gotten saggy, like even they were depressed about their arrangement.  My poor husband thought he was doing something nice but when he came home and saw it, he was embarrassed.  Shame on them for making him feel bad for being sweet.

This Valentine's Day, he seemed to have forgotten last year's debacle and ordered from them again...this time he was very specific about what he wanted.  He asked them for a hot pink & orange arrangement, with plenty of gerbera daisies because he knows they're my favorite.  They did a much better job this time around, although I still wanted to futz with the arrangement a bit.  (Maybe they moved around in the delivery van...there was no plastic wrap that might've protected it against all of the other billion deliveries the dude must've had.)

I don't think they're terribly sophisticated arrangers but if you know exactly what you want and spell it out for them, they may be able to handle it.

I heart my neighborhood florist. Just $5.99 for a dozen roses! That's just crazy! The deals ebb and flow during the month, but the sign outside or their mailing list will clue you in (http://www.benwhiteflo...)

I don't have to feel guilty for buying a dozen to stick in vases around my house for a little pick me up. And I have bought cards and gift arrangements here, too, and the recipients were always happy with their pretty flowers.

Even better, free flowers during First Thursdays (still... I think), and nice owner and staff (they'll prettify that cheap bouquet with tissue and twine), amusing ever-changing signs, and sometimes rose petals all over the South Congress sidewalk.

Well, I actually did not use this florist. But, Gosh! Their service and the way they treated us was incredible! We went in the store this morning and asked if they could work for our wedding. The male staff told us they would close on that whole weekend because of the holiday. Then, he kinda complained why we chose Monday to get married, because nobody does; (really?! it is a holiday, man!) Plus, he told us pretty much all of the florists would close the entire weekend and freaked us out we may not be able to find any florist at all. Geese! Without feeling sorry, he did not give us any advice or help!!!

Thank God! It turned out we were able to arrange with other florists to work with and they are all nice and friendly. The Flower Bucket on North Lamar also gave me helpful information even they would close during that weekend. I just cannot believe a florist with such a high rating on Yelp and the Chronicle would have treated the customers in such a manner.

Cool, friendly floral shop on South Congress.

Right when I walked in, a friendly salesperson was right there to help.

They offer great prices on flowers, have some pretty cool planters, and an excellent selection of hip greeting cards.  I'd say that it's worth a trip if you're just looking for a card.

One more tip:  On First Thursday in December, they're giving away free food and free flowers.  Not sure if it's a regular First Thursday thing, but everybody loves free stuff!

    Great service. Great Price.

This is my kind of florist shop (if there ever was such a thing). The person that helped me was very nice and low-pressure (didn't try to push me on anything. I picked out what I wanted and she had it wrapped up quickly and it looked great.

If (when) I need flowers again, I will definitely be coming back here.

P.S. I love the sign on the door that says something to the effect of "If we wanted to listen to your conversations, we'd do it the American way, with a wiretap. - Keep your cell phone conversations outside."

Ben White gets 5 stars in all areas from me.
Selection, Service, Price, Creativity, Location, Parking, Patients, and whatever else you wanna throw in there.
I especially love Debra, her creativity and passion show in every arrangement she has done for me.  I send flowers about twice a month and have yet to be let down.
Whether you need an arrangement to get out of the dog house, say I love you, or get well... Ben White Florist can help you out!

I also think they are running a .99 delivery special... don't miss out!

My mother's birthday was two weeks ago. Mom lives in Round Rock. I looked at florists in Round Rock to send mom some flowers, but once delivery fees and taxes were added, the $50 flowers I was looking at were almost pushing $70. I just couldn't do that to my wallet (sorry mom).

I ended up going to BWF the morning of my mom's birthday and picking out one of the $9.99 dozen rose bunches. The lady who helped me (I can't remember her name, but she was awesome), asked if I wanted to have her arrange them for me. Sure! She told me the cost up front (flowers, vase, greenery, labor) -- with tax, came out to less than $33. LESS THAN $33 FOR A DOZEN ROSES!

The lady and I chatted while she was arranging my flowers, and I was out of there within 15 minutes. Drove the flowers to Round Rock, and delivered them myself. Fast forward to today. I talked to my mom and she said the flowers are still going strong! A couple of petals have fallen off, but the arrangement still looks as beautiful as it did two weeks ago.

    Thank you, BWF, for:
    1. Making an awesome arrangement on a budget,
    2. Creating an arrangement that was way more beautiful than the one my brother gave my mom (yes, sibling rivalry is alive and well).

I had another great Ben White Florist experience yesterday, purchasing 6 Hocus Pocus roses for a friend's birthday.  If you haven't seen the Hocus Pocus rose variety, check them out!  They are a deep red with flecks of cream throughout.  Absolutely gorgeous.
As always, the staff was knowledgeable and understanding about my limited budget.  My purchase was about $13 for the 6 amazing roses and some Thistle as filler....many places have cheaper roses but they don't look like THIS.

I was seeing this woman a while back, so on her birthday I ordered her some flowers to be delivered to her house from Ben White Florist.  I ordered them online so it was a pretty easy process.  I didn't see any of the flowers but she said they were pretty.  Not pretty enough to get me lucky though. -1 star.  That's what I expect when I fork out that much money for flowers.

My girlfriend went on a business trip to Austin, TX and I used Yelp to find a local florist there. Thanks to all the reviewers, my romantic gesture was a complete success. The flowers were waiting when she arrived and lasted for the entire week she was there. The service was knowledgeable and friendly and process the order without a hiccup. I am definitely using this place should I need to order flowers in the city again.

I thoroughly enjoy my trips to Ben white Florist on South Congress -  I usually get their weekly special of in season flowers that are on sale for
terrific prices.  In most cases the flowers last a week!  The workers are upbeat and friendly, helpful if needed, and otherwise they let me look around and pick out what I want on my own.  Personally I try to support local businesses and this is a good south Austin place for beautiful and fresh flowers!

Saw this place cause it is on the way to my class and decided to check it out. Really nice workers there and while at first (literally 5 seconds) it seemed like the first worker (sorry forgot her name) was disinterested, she noticed I was lost when looking at their "roses for 9.99" special. She then helped me almost immediately, grabbed some really pretty looking ones, asked me what all i wanted and arranged them for me in 5 minutes. I kind of wish the sign out front that advertized 9.99 roses would say that reds were 15.99 and a mix of reds/colors was 12.99. sort of felt like bait/switch when i saw the actual prices but still a great deal considering how nice the flowers were, how much my gf liked them, and overall cost.  they actually have great prices (got my mixed set for 12.99) so don't want to get that twisted; it was just the difference, albeit small, in price that only slightly irked me.

honestly, i would have put 5 stars except for the non-full disclosure. great place and will definitely go back on a whim, just to be nice and get some flowers for my gf or folks. Wish their hours were later but i dont think many, or any, flower shops are open all that late.

oh yeah, their parking was kind of tricky but i was in a rush so probably much easier to park somewhere other than their front section. i'll find out when i go back. highly recommend them, great service and place. support local!

Well I did not end up using their services, but my experience there has been horrible and I am actually surprised they have a four star rating here. First, I went in to their shop on the Saturday before Labor Day to speak to their wedding coordinator, and they ended up being closed. Nothing on their website said they were closed that Saturday, otherwise I would not have wasted my time! There were two other couples there that also had no idea they were closed. I decided to give them another chance, and I had my mother go in for me to get more information. I live in Dallas, and am only in town certain weekends, which is why I had my mom help me out. Not only were they rude to her, but they refused to give her a quote for my wedding flowers because I wasn't there. I even provided a detailed list of what I wanted, and said everything was flexible. I even provided a list of everything I needed. They told my mom they would email me a quote. The email I got said "Some person came in asking us to send you a quote. Unfortunately I cannot provide this. We do not do business this way. .." blah blah blah. Seriously?! They must not be hurting for business, as all other florist have no issues providing a quote rather quickly.
