Ok I came here a LOT last year in the evening and never did I see throngs of gays cruising each other! I LOVE this is listed as a gay cruising site right after Hamburger Mary's on Yelp!!! Haha!! Maybe something I don't know. Anyways ....
This pool is on the beach, has a TON of history, and is HUGE with a shallow side and deep side with diving boards. I love coming here in the evening for a swim and to watch the divers. $4 gets you in and the lap times are not too bad and correctly listed on the website. Watch out for special event though which are frequent and close the whole pool. Free parking on Ocean so why park in lot. The lifeguards here are the funniest and best! Total fun and historic pool. The locker rooms could use a little love but offer private changing booths. To say this place has a gym...is a lie. Its like 3 machines from the 70's...but I came to swim so whatever.
Totally worth checking out just to swim somewhere different or chat it up with the guards. -

I've come here a few times growing up in Huntington Beach and taking aquatic camp lessons in Long Beach. They have an INSANE high diving board that is at least the olympic height. It will put any other diving board you have seen to shame.
The facilities are nice. There is a bathroom area, shower, changing station, and the location is right on the water. Beware of the bums though. When I was last here 2 weeks ago, there were hoards of bums smoking strong weed around the corner.
....Like damn. -

I've been to this location for several swimming competitions, whether I, my family, friends or my team was swimming and we've always been fortunate to have made it to this location for CIF and other championship meets. However as far as a location, I'm not a big fan of the air circulation of this location which feels as though you're in a sauna with it's dense humid still air that makes it difficult to breathe especially if you're doing competitions or even simple cardio workouts.
The facility definitely needs a lot of renovations in regards of their pool area and bleachers. The wall that they have set up for the competition pool has these holes that are vulnerable for any person, young or old, to get their fingers caught inbetween them. The pool decks and layout is especially outdated and seems unfit for any type of championship meet.
Compared to Janet Evans or even the pool at Mt. SAC, this place needs renovations! -

Great place to go on a summer evening!
$4 if you're over 17 yrs old
Open 7:15-9pm....and is the perfect time to hit the pool after a scorching hot day. diving boards..and a deep end on the other side by the diving boards, perfect if you want to take a breather away from all the little kids...and preteens...also a great view of all the "divers" mostly canon balls and belly flops happening lol.
Parking is free after 6p ....and 2nd st is down the street, head over there after working up an appetite =] -

I don't enjoy being the 'newbie' anywhere, I like to know what I'm doing and look good while doing it. So when I arrived at Belmont Pool for the first time I was nervous and more than a little insecure.
There I was, the newbie, wearing a swimsuit underneath my sweats with a swim cap and goggles in hand. I asked the girl at the front desk about a dozen questions before I even paid up my $3.
"Ummm, will I be the only person wearing a swim cap?" At this point my newbie insecurity was proudly worn on my sleeve. What I really wanted to ask was "Will anyone be gawking at my flabby thighs?" and "Will there be any other chubby girls swimming?"
I was put at ease when I went to the locker room and discovered chubby women of all ages from little girls to seniors getting ready to swim or changing to go home...I was going to be just fine.
I took the advice of the girl at the front desk and brought my things with me out to the pool. I didn't have a lock to leave my things in a locker anyhow. In addition to the pool and diving boards there are group classes for aqua aerobics and swim classes.
I dog-paddled back and forth a few times before I nearly went into cardiac arrest. It was a good workout! I wasn't the only girl with flabby thighs or a swim cap and there's also a workout room that I want to take advantage of next time I visit.
Don't be afraid to be a newbie.Listed in: Fat Girl Running!!

This Olympic-sized indoor pool is gigantic and from what i've heard, they hold quite a history (olympic training, events, and such). I like the pool because its close to home and safer/cleanlier than swimming in the long beaches. $3/day will get you access to the pool and a chance to pump it up on some early 1970's weight machines. And for the more frequent swimmers, you can save some bucks by paying $70/month. I've only swam on weekday mornings and have never had problems getting my own lane. They do have a tight schedule, so if you're considering it I recommend checking their site.
I originally scoped out this location b/c of its famed belmont ledges, featured in countless skateboarding films. Sad to report, they have just recently skate-proofed them... lame. -

We read about this place and for weeks, couldn't wait to go...
Yes- the pool is humongous but the locker rooms are definitely missing some TLC. They are TRASHED when we were there- trashed as in "we were afraid of placing our bags on the benches". (We were there for the 7PM Rec swim though, so maybe they are cleaner in the mornings?)
The only upside is that there was plenty of room to SWIM like a FISH- ONE MILLION GALLONS of water, baby! And for those advanced swimmers, they had several diving boards open, both very high and lower, closer to the water.
Sooo...I guess go for the swim, but skip the locker rooms? -

Its funny how every review in here is from a recreation swimmer. I swam competitively 10 years and this place has a pure history of sweat, tears, and record breaking times. CIF Championship event for water polo, diving and swimming are held here (also known as the future olympians). Olympians such as Michael Phelps and Janet Evans swim here competitively. This place is soo clean compared to the other pools ive been to. Maybe its cause the place cleans up for events?
But yeahh... I love this place because of all its history and natural essence of competitive aquatics. So much history... -

This indoor facility has one million gallons of water to swim in, you can't beat that! The location is nice. It's literally on the sandy beach- so the view is great. It's NOT the best place for swim lessons because there's too many things going on at once (lap swim, rec. swim, diving, water aerobics). For recreation swimming you must take a swim test before you are allowed in the deep part of the pool. The water temperature is set at 78 to 82 degrees and for those of you who are not swimming savvy, that is not a comfortable temperature to learn how to swim. I've seen babies (during mommy & me classes) lips turn blue- seriously. Yet, that temperature is perfect for those lap swimmers out there (;
There is a Masters swim Club (which is for adults), The Grunion Swim Team, Beach Swim Club (for competitive kids up to age 18), Mc Cormick Dive Team (Debbie Mc Cormick is head coach and owner, they use all the diving boards and dive platforms). Overall, this place is great to work out at and I alomost forgot to mention that this facility includes a small gym with a few weight machines. Also, Michael Phelps has swam here too.
PS. Contact me if you need swim lessons (All ages). -

You really have to plan your exercise regimen according to those unpredictable peak hours of public demand, because you could have lanes to choose from or lanes to share/circle laps. How ambiguous is that. Still, it's super cheap with great hours, and the water is warm.
In the agreeably neglected ladies' locker room, the older hens have no care in the world and strip down to their athletically shriveled butts-- for you conservative types. -

Came here for the first time yesterday to attend the Winter Junior Olympics opening! I love how the facility is indoors, heated and has plentiful spaces on the bleachers for spectatorship. During the downtime, stepping on the sand was literally a couple of feet away as this facility is located right on beach front! I didn't mind spending over 12 hours here, it was comfortable, but I did not enjoy the locker room stinch and my sister said the showers looked dirty and old--I could also say the same about the restroom stalls. Back again tomorrow and excited to watch my babysis swim! Go NOVA (=

The pool itself is a very valueble assest to our city. I am just wondering why the people who use it for lap swimming are so self centered. When the lanes have more than enough room in each of them to have two people swim side by side without bothering the other; then why do you all insist swimming in the center of the lane? How is this different from someone standing in the middle of a walkway blocking it from others to pass. When you look up and see people standing on the side of the pool, that is your clue to move over and be considerate. I am the guy who ALWAYS swims on one half of the lane no matter how crowded it is. Please pull your head out of the sand and try to do something considerate with your life. THANKS!!!

You must be okay swimming with the kiddos and the retirees who float or splash in the lane labeled "fast." But, the location is lovely--right on the beach and next to Belmont Brewery (in case you want to replenish the calories you burned with some cider). The pool is huge and well organized. The locker room is yucky, but you came here to swim, right? They have great hours compared to other public pools. Watch out for swim meet/water polo season: you might show up and not be able to swim.

I cycled down to do some laps three times so far in the afternoon over the last month and found the overall experience pleasant enough. I have an affliction to cold water so was a little apprehensive at first but that fear was put to rest once I hit the water. I had the lane to myself or shared with one or two others so tailgating wasn't a problem. The showers and change rooms were kept clean and tidy. I will continue visiting on my bike whilst the weather is mild

Just started coming here to swim in the early morning. There is usually a place for us to swim, and the rest of the people there are seniors doing their aqua aerobics. It's $3 to go, and 25 visits for $70 (WOW! $5 savings!). Thats the only bad thing... it should be $1 lol. It is indoor though, and basically the only indoor pool in the area, so thats nice. Plus there is a weight room if you want to work out and swim (still only $3 total).
