I'd give them 6 stars if I could because their wine ROCKS!

I honestly don't drink that much, and hate many wine makers.  I was floored when I not only found that I can enjoy anything they make, but also that anyone else I introduced the wines to were instantly hooked as well.

You can honestly blow through like 5 to 10 bottles with a few friends in no time.  It goes down so easy you don't even pay attention to how many glasses you've had.

Never been to the winery itself, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was quite nice.  I buy the wine from local stores.

    Was this review …?

Driving down Weymouth Road, located in Landisville, NJ, I was pleasantly surprised by the gem I found just off Atlantic St.

Bellview Winery is tucked in Cumberland County amongst a beautiful farmland. I pulled into the winery parking lot, admittedly not expecting much. Upon opening the door into the tasting area, I was surprised. A beautiful wood floor area set with tables and just down the stairs, a bar fit for tasting. The winery is owned by Jim Quarella a fourth generation produce farmer who attended Delaware Valley College.

Ashley Stewart, 29, of Vineland, NJ and an employee of the winery for the past year and a half was more than helpful, not only giving me insight on the already bottled wines but the harvests as well. "This year was a record harvesting for us, 32,000 pounds of fruit for both Merlot and Syrah harvests for us." Ashley said.

Guests are allotted six wines for tasting. I tried three red and three white to get a good idea of the spectrum offered. However, six is only 5% of what they offer. There are 30 wines available for purchase from Bellview.  To the left of the bar for tasting wines is a seating area with a munchies menu available. Free Wi-Fi can be accessed from your computer or tablet for the working or social media-savvy individual.

The first three wines I tried were white wines.

2010 Pinot Grigio- A classic sweet and slightly dry wine. The sweet wasn't overpowering. It was made in a stainless cask, however it still finishes with that nutty flavor that is easy to appreciate. Their description include "melon and honeysuckle" as part of the flavors. I could taste the honeysuckle over the melon, but I believe that is dependent on individual pallet.

2010 Viognier- This was my first try of a Viognier ever, and it was really interesting. It had a strong mango aroma, but finished with the taste of papaya. The most amazing part? These are the normal characteristics of the Viognier grape. It grows advantageously in this area. William Douglas Steakhouse, located in Cherry Hill, will start carrying it in the near future.

2010 Traminette- Bellview's menu describes the flavors as "a wonderful lime aroma with subtly spicy hints of spearmint and hops." They weren't kidding. That lime flavor comes out with almost a punch. The first reaction I had was WOW. The flavor was unique and immediately gave me ideas for cooking in the future (I was thinking tacos). Ashley mentioned its popularity in Glassboro, NJ. Hops and Grapes, a local spirits distributor cannot keep it on its shelves due to the successful pairing with sushi and thai food. Samurai, a Japanese/sushi restaurant is just a stones throw from the store, making it easy to marry the tastes together at dinner.

The last three wines are my personal favorite, the reds. Ashley helped me out a bit, allowing me to taste an extra red. (Thanks!)

2007 Chambourcin- This was a classic style Chambourcin. Starts sweet and ends dry. It's exactly what you would expect and full of flavor. I recommend for those starting to try red wines. I mentioned this before in a previous post and it stands true with Bellview's.

2009 Lemberger- Another first for me. It was produced in an American Oak cast lending it's nutty flavor to the finish of the wine. It is composed of 90% Lemberger, 5% Chambourcin and 5% Cabernet Franc. It has a strong body with fleeting deep tastes of tobacco, appealing to any man wishing to try a stronger wine. It's not too strong nor too dry, while maintaining the dry characteristics. I recommend a cigar and a nice night to enjoy with a bottle of the 2009 Lemberger.

2009 Cabernet Franc- Another added to the list of firsts. I didn't enjoy this as much as expected, however it had surprising factors to it. It had an earthy flavor and left you feeling refreshed. Not many reds can lend themselves to a refreshing style, however the Cabernet Franc did it well.

The final wine, and my favorite type of red I tried was the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon- fruity, dry and oaky. "Mmmm" was all I could think as I sipped the deep cherry and grape flavor. The sweet, oaky finish lends itself to a good wine to use for cooking and sharing for a hearty dinner. I am biased as well, being that it is one of my favorite types of wine. Try it anyway!

I ended up purchasing a bottle of their 2008 Syrah.  I originally purchased a singular glass and sipped as I walked the property and took beautiful photos. It was delicious and a good companion while snapshotting its origins.

Awesome place! My friend and I did a groupon tour last Saturday. Although she didn't print out the ticket and the confirmatino number she brought wasn't enough to validate her purchase, the nice owner let us email it to him later that day. He also gave us a delicious deli recommendation (Vinnie's Italian Deli). Bellview has some tapas, but we were in a mood for serious food. Can't ask for more better customer service.

We tasted assortments of reds & whites. Fiesta was recommended by the owner for making sangrias and I definitely see the potential. My friend purchased two bottles of that. I also got one and another one of Niagara, sweet, grape-y white. Their sweets are so easy and perfect for summer nights. The price is also awesome ($9-10 for sweets!)

The tour was extremely informative. I'm from Cali and visited vineyards in NorCal & Finger lakes. But this was def the most fun one. I loved all the stories and info :)

Definitely check out the events they have!

Driving through New Jersey, I am en route to AC with a co-worker.  The last thing you expect to see is a winery.  Being from California and a wine geek, I thought it would be fun to stop and try what passed for wine back here.  After all, there are wineries in all 50 states though not all of them are good.

We see Bellview and stop for a break.  The tasting room is nice and better than I expected.  You are able to walk out through their processing area and take a look at their small operation.  The girl working the tasting room is cute and surprisingly knowledgeable about wine.  She knows quite a bit about east coast wine.  I learn that southern New Jersey was recently classified as it's own AVA.  New Jersey grew the most grapes in the US prior to prohibition.  Wow.

They offer a variety of grapes I have never heard of.  There are 1000's of varietals in the world and they have chosen to grow only what the land and climate will allow.  This is how winemaking is supposed to be done.

I tried many varietals I had never even heard of.  These included Ives, Chambourcin and Lemberger.  They had some fruit wines as well which were quite nice.  The most odd item of all was dandelion wine.  Apparently, this is an old family recipe and is common in the area.  It is good, unique and a real conversation item to bring to a dinner party (to pair with dessert).

When it comes to price, I am blown away.  The wines range from $9 to $14 per bottle.  I snatch up a case without even thinking.  With a case discount, it is even less.

The wines are nothing earth shattering, but for the money they are awesome everyday wines and an excellent value.  Many are big enough to stand up to flavorful beef dishes.

For the rest of the trip, I ache for the fun wine we had and for the cute tasting room manager.  When we get to New York, it is shipped home for later consumption.  When I get home, I try a bottle with a steak just to make sure it was not a fluke.  Nah, it was not.  Great wine at an excellent price point.

My only gripe is they cannot ship out of state.  This is New Jersey law.  The winery will help you pack the wine for travel, that is all they can do.  They are working on getting the government to allow shipping to other states.  When they do, I will be ordering my share.

Let me say this... I have been to Napa... Been on wine tasting tours and I have to say that these guys know their stuff!
I am a little biased because I know the Quarella family, but these guys give it their all, and I will always pick up a bottle before a family function.
Excellent quality and great taste on almost every wine I have tried from there!

One of the "best kept secrets" of Southern NJ.

We have been back many times after our first tasting to *try* and finish their entire offering, but we've never been able to do it. They have so much variety and the wines are all just great -- there's no way to taste everything in one trip... unless someone else is driving!

Our faves are the sweet fruit wines (blueberry, etc.), but we really got addicted to the Winter Spice over the holiday. Nothing beat warming up a bottle of this pre-spiced wine, and sipping it on a cold night!

They also have a small area for food, but we haven't tried that yet.

Also, there is a large area outside to sit and enjoy a warm spring or summer day. The owner said that some people bring a lunch, pick up a bottle, and enjoy the vineyard with an afternoon picnic. We'll be sure to try that this season!

A very good winery in South Jersey. Tasting room was big and well lit. There was a dining section as you walk in the door. I'm guessing its for the events they have. Large selection of reds and whites and sweet and dry. I prefer dry and was able to taste them all. I use a 5 point rating scale when tasting wine. All of the wines I tried here scored at a 4 or 5. A rare feat for me because, while I love dry reds, too often they can have too much tanins for me. Its a balancing act that this winery has been able to achieve wonderfully. They have an excellent Syrah. Which is impressive because I've never seen a locally grown Syrah in Pa or Nj. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.
