5 reviews for Belleview Biltmore Resort & Spa
It almost seems pointless to write this review since they are closing up shop at the end of the month for mega renovations... but, hell.. why not!
Yeah, this place is in desperate need of updating. I love the history and general ambiance, but it needs to really embrace it's theme. I'm hoping after it gets updated and reopens, it decides on a schtick, and really embraces it.
The spa was not worth the money. The massage was a joke. If you want a really good spa day, go to Safety Harbor. The Grecian pool was really cool, but I spent more time at the one outside.
We took a ghost tour, there are a few to choose from, and I suggest the ones that are more focused on history than actual ghost hunting. We did the 'ghost hunting' one, and .. while it was cool and spooky to go up to the dilapidated 5th floor, it was crazy hot. We had fun with it though, and got to see some cool stuff... alas, no ghosts.
All in all, I'm glad I got to see this place in it's current state. I can't wait for it to reopen and see all the new bells and whistles. Fingers crossed for 2012!!

The only saving grace about this place was the history. Other than that save your money and stay at one of the newer hotels (although they are remodeling this place with a 3 year renovation. God know it needs it).
When I checked in the front desk staff were rude. They treated us like were were in their way and taking up their time. My room was a suite (just one down from the Presidential Suite, which is frickin' HUGE!).
My room was very spacious with a long hallway, big bedroom and front room. However it smelled so old and dusty that I wanted to check out immediately. Instead I stayed two days. I did check out one day early though and stay at another hotel down the road.
Ok back to the hotel. The restaurant inside had decent food. The prices were really cheap too. I was surprised. The history of the hotel is amazing. It was cool walking around and experiencing that.
The staff were useless. I asked for another blanket and they said they would bring it up immediately. Apparently "immediately" means never to them. When I called they said "Oh yeah we'll bring it right on up". Again...nothing. So I went downstairs and they said they were out of blankets. "WHAT?????"
On my way back to the room I see a hotel maid with a cart and she had about 6 blankets on it. "Thank you that one's mine!".
I would never stay at the Biltmore again. Not a chance!

Biltmore gets a lot of its wow for its history and character. Walking through there is like going through a time warp. As a hotel, this place definitely needs an update. However, its huge and quite beautiful despite its age showing here and there.
My fav part of the entire place has to be the indoor Grecian style pool. I loooooove it. (Make sure to try and sneak in there late at night so you can enjoy the hot jacuzzi pool all for yourselves). *ahem, uh not that i would do something like that or anything.. *ahem..
Listen, don't give this girl a hard time. They've finally found someone to finance a face lift for this place and will be closing its doors in May. They won't re-open for 2-3 years, depending on how long construction takes.

I will echo Beau's review, the Biltmore is older and does have a little bit of wear, but I found the place to be clean and very nice, with great service and amenities. The hotel restaurants are great, and you can't beat the free shuttle to the hotel's private beach club. Both the club and the beach are extremely nice and private.
We got a wonderful deal on our stay, and our room was clean and spacious. No WiFi in the hotel when we were there but they did have a number of computers available with internet that were free to use. We enjoyed the hotel's amenities and with such close proximity to the local bus stop we were able to do a number of fun day trips around Clearwater.

The Belleview Biltmore is a hotel on the historic register - that means it is classy, old and a little worn around the edges. But it is still a great place.
There are two pools (we only found the outdoor one, but who cares it was Florida in May and it is muggy - one pool is enough) and a great restaurant downstairs. The buffets were excellent - kids eat free with paying guests.
They also have a bar and beach area in Clearwater with an hourly shuttle.
There wasn't wifi or internet in the hotel rooms which was strange, but this isn't a hotel catering to business travelers.
