Best place ever. One of the greatest experiences of my life; even better than kissing my boyfriend for the first time. This place is that good.
I came here during spa week and I'm so glad I did. I got a massage and a facial done. I have already scheduled another appointment for a facial and will probably add something else to that. -

I just spent $480.00 on services and skincare products at this spa and don't plan on ever spending another penny there because the owner, Michele Phillips, was so rude to me. I moved to San Diego from Los Angeles nine months ago and had been commuting to Los Angeles to continue going to my spa there. However, after becoming pregnant 14 weeks ago I had been much too sick and tired to drive to LA. As I begin my second trimester I'm finally feeling well enough to get out of the house and get my beauty routine back. My wonderful husband decided I needed a spa day and found the "Mommy-to-be" package at the Bellagio Salon & Day Spa. The package consists of a prenatal massage, facial, pedicure and lunch. I added in a much needed lip & brow wax & hair color & cut. The girl who booked my appointment said my day would start at 11:30 and be finished around 5:30pm.
The day began wonderfully at 11:30 am. I was so happy to be out of the house for the first time in two months. I had my massage with Erin and my facial with Viktoriya. They were both wonderful, sweet and I talked to them about coming back again in a month do do it all again. Lunch proved to be a little complicated because I have Celiac and they only had one salad on their menu that didn't contain gluten, but at that time Michele was nice enough to get chicken added to the salad. At 2pm or so I enjoyed my lunch. Then headed over to the other side for my pedicure and hair. So far so good.
Had my pedicure with a very nice young blond girl who's name I didn't get but she was pleasant and I enjoyed my pedicure. I will say they need to redecorate the mani/pedi room as it's decore didn't fit in with the rest of the salon and it's high end feel. They also had a very limited selection of polish colors to choose from. Overall, the pedicure was nice but the room itself left much to be desired.
As soon as my pedicure was finished the manicurist slipped on my flip flops and told me I didn't have to move because she didn't have an appointment after me. I sat there for about 10 minutes letting my toes dry and speaking to another customer about my recent trip to China. This was when the incident started. It was a few minutes before 4pm and the owner, Michele Phillips, came in. She said, "I'm sorry but we're going to need you to move because the girl who's doing your hair has a client after you." I said no problem and stood up to gather my purse and water bottle as I finished the end of my conversation that Michele had interrupted so rudely. As I turned around after grabbing my purse from behind the pedicure chair Michele was once again standing there and told me again I needed to move. Then she unbelievably stood over me and followed me as I was walking out and to the hair station. It was so rude and upsetting to have her hovering over me and telling twice within a few minutes I needed to move. It's obvious she only cares about how many people she can get through in a day and not about her clients.
I was embarrassed and in tears by the time the hair stylist came to talk to me. Her name was Amanda and although she was very nice my day had been ruined and I decided to leave with out having my hair done. Amanda told me her next appointment wasn't until 5 or 5:30. It was only 4pm and I was having an uncomplicated over all color and a trim. Plenty of time for Amanda to do both before her next client. Besides how is it my fault if they had overbooked? If they booked my appointment too close to another appointment then that is their fault and has nothing to do with me! Especially when I was spending so much money! If I had gotten my hair done, with tips included, I would have spend around $600.00 in one day. It's so unprofessional Michele would chose to treat her clients in such a manner!
I came there for a relaxing Mommy-to-be spa day and not to be herded around like cattle by the owner. I left more stressed out then when I arrived. I left without having my hair done and with tears in my eyes. My day was completely ruined! You shouldn't treat your clients that way Michele and you certainly shouldn't treat your pregnant clients that way! It's really bad for the girls who I got services by today because I was planning on becoming a regular, but now I don't plan on going there every again. If I'm going to spend $600.00 at my salon I expect to be treated well and be able to take my time and relax.Comment from Michele P. of Bellagio Salon & Day Spa 4/27/2012

I was offered a blog review for Spa Week $50 treatments, I was given the Chocolate Cake Ultimate Pedicure (book now for your appointment April 16th-22nd). My review is not based on my free blog review but rather my own personal experience with Bellagio Salon & Day Spa. I have never had a pedicure before so I was nervous to even have anyone touch my feet (I don't like my feet being touched). Angela was great and set my worries aside as I was being pampered. My treatment was so nice, she knew what she was doing and even concocted the recipes for the chocolate cake scrub and lotion. The spa is beautiful, they have two locations in the courtyard there, one for the relaxing treatment side and the other for the noisy treatments lol. I would recommend them to my friends, prices are reasonable, staff is lovely and you can't beat a beautiful location to relax in afterwards! Thanks ladies!

My friend and I went here a few months ago for a eye brow wax. We decided to go here instead of my normal place because it was a little cheaper. Well money will no longer be the deciding factor when it comes to beauty services. The lady ripped off the back half of my eye brow on the right side and made them both way to thin. I was shocked, and she was even more shocked when I told her I didn't like them, which made me shocked that she didn't see that half my eye brow was gone! Needless to say it was a shocking experience.
She offered to color them to make them look normal again, which I reluctantly agreed; anything to make me look a little normal right? Well it didn't exactly work but she tried.
What really made me mad was that she charged me for the botched eye brow job and the "coloring" to make them look normal again. Seriously?
Oh well, not going back there for sure! -

I wasn't going to write a review for this place because the thought of even giving them one star disgusts me. I went in on my only day off to get a full highlight. For $300, a very unprofessional guy named Oscar completely over processed my color to the point where the top of my head was a totally noticeable different color of brassy blonde and my scalp was literally burning. He said he would fix it, but i guess by that he meant come back Tuesday after he had a chance to call the 800 number and he'd make me the original color I was before I had even come in, and then made me leave with wet hair.
I have since found J Stila Salon & Spa (in Golden Hill), where the stylists have actual experience, and for $130 you can rest assured you wont leave feeling anything other than amazing. After 3 more times of coming here, maybe the horrible hair Oscar gave me will be completely gone.
Bottom line, don't waste your money or time at Bellagio!Comment from Michele P. of Bellagio Salon & Day Spa 10/5/2011

I trust no one to touch my eyebrows except for Jessica. I've been going to her for 5 years and am happy every time I leave. I'm much more willing to pay to get my eyebrows done in a spa environment than save a few dollars (literally) by getting them done at a nail salon. Its important that brows are shaped to an individual's face and Jessica definitely knows what she's doing.
For those who are considering an eyebrow wax for the first time or looking for somewhere new, I highly recommend you try this place. I usually go every 4weeks, right around the time I start resembling Gargamel. I walk in with caterpillars on my face and leave feeling like a butterfly. -

I got my nails and toes done here. They were OK, but for $100, I wanted AMAZING. It just wasn't.
She seemed to know her products and the woman I went to had been doing nails for over 15 years -- which is great. But it just wasn't relaxing and I found the salon to be a little dirty. Parking was difficult too. -

was in need of "me" time and booked a body wrap and signature facial. Im not going to comment on body wraps because i never found them to be nothing but relaxing and never found them to benefit my skin. As did the body wrap i received here, just another expensive relaxing moment, eh. But, i will comment on the facial... for the price i paid for the sig. facial i expected a "wow" job. And i do get facials often, but the day after, well in fact as i was driving home, i didnt notice any glow, eh.. not worth the $$.

I received a gift certificate for this place for my bday in August and decided it was time to check it out!! Since turning 40, I am CONSTANTLY in the mirror looking for the first sign of a wrinkle, or anything else I can obsess over. Fast forward to my Bellagio Signature Facial with the gorgeous Miss Shanna!! Wooooweeee! Her hands are AHHHMAZING, and she makes you feel so comfortable! I was so relaxed, I swear I caught myself drooling! With this facial, you have your choice of microdermabrasion or a chemical peel, so feeling like my 40 year old face needed some 'refreshening', I chose the microderm and was feeling a little apprehensive, not knowing what to expect. Shanna talked me through the whole process and calmed my nerves. I thought I'd be irritated and red, looking like a burn victim coming out of there so imagine my sublime surprise when I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror...my face looked fresh and felt so smooth!! I couldn't get over the IMMEDIATE results. I was so happy and I received so many compliments on my 'glowing complexion', I bought a series of microderm to work on my sun spots...I am proof that 40 is the new 20! (ok maybe not 20 but a solid 30, hahaha!) Go see Shanna! She's awesome!

I went to Bellagio Salon for a root touch up and met with a stylist named Natalie. This stylist did everything that I had asked her not to do and as a result completely damaged and ruined my hair color. This stylist did not listen and only did what she wanted to do. I went there happy with my color and only wanted my roots re-touched and ended up with a new head of color which I didn't ask for or wanted. I would not wish for this to ever happen to someone else so please be warned and do not do the mistake of going there!!!!

Except for Kristy Le who does nails - she is GREAT.
I got a facial here and it was the worst. You could hear the noise from the outside and not relaxing. She used dirty smelling rags to wash my face, and the bed was very uncomfortable. My back actually hurt after I was done. She also charged me $5 more than the listed price, which isn't that big of deal but very tacky. I also tried to get my hair done and it was butchered - I walked out without even letting him finish drying me. There might be better folks that do hair but the guy I saw was not very good.
So YES to nails, NO to facials, and good luck with the hair dressers. -

I love Belinda Julian. I will follow her anywhere she goes (and I have to Bellagio Salon). I have been going to her for quite a few years now, entrusting her to change a look I had been wearing for quite some time, back in the day. She has done awesome colors for me. Made suggestions for type of extensions to use, has squeezed me in between other clients and all her closest hair stylist buddies work here as well. I would recommend her to anyone. She's great with short and long hair, colors, curls and now she offers the Brazilian blow out. I am scheduled for one of those Thursday 9/2 as a Bday present to myself :-)
The salon is nice, the ppl are very respectful and its super convenient to hop on the trolley and ride 2 stops from my condo to get there (and visit the wine bar after a great sessions with Belinda). -

So my husband got me a a day at the spa mothers day package for here. It was a facial and manicure pedicure. The place is very nice and clean. Everyone was pretty friendly the hair stylists seemed a little bored but then again it was a sunday. i cant remember the womans name who did my facial but she the only one who does facials there. I love the products she used Amazing stuff a little pricey tho, but she didnt push anything which i love!! I was glowing....
I waited around 15 minutes in between my facial and my mani and pedi the girl was running behind from her previous client (kinda annoying) But it was well worth it! Kristy Lee and her lemon mani and pedi are absoloutely by far the best mani and pedi ive had in my life! (ive been everywhere) she does such a complete job and doesn't try to sell you any other services (ex. flowers)!!!! in fact everything is all included even french tip!! I def recommend Kristy Lee! Go see her she is a gem!! give her a call directly 619-252- 2213 -

I have been getting my hair highlighted and cut for over 10 years and have gone to many different salons all over Southern California. After moving to San Diego 6 years ago I have been searching for a new salon. I have finally found not only a great salon, but the perfect stylist in Luis Taffola. He listens to exactly what I want and executes every single time I visit him. Most importantly he takes his time and is very gentle with my hair. I have very long, highlighted blonde, straight hair and it is very important that it is treated carefully so that it won't break off, and Luis is amazing! He is also a blast to talk to...go and see him!

I get my hair cut her about every 2 to 3 weeks. What you have to realize is like most nice salons, the stylists usually rent booths from Bellagio so you have different people working on different days / times, so if you just walk in, you might not get the same person you got last time.
I always make appointments with Leah Alvarez (619) 274-0708, so I can only comment on her. She is GREAT!! I highly recommend you ask for her or make an appointment with her. I think she only works on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
As far as Bellagio itself, it's a really nice establishment. Everything is new and very clean.
Also, as a side note... The Salon & Spa are across the street from each other, so if you are going to the Salon, only read the reviews on the Salon, and vice-versa, because they are not in the same place. -

I've had a lot of manicures and pedicures but today Kristy Le gave me the best I've ever had. Kristy didn't try to up-sell anything, the environment is clean and comfortable, the products used were nice, and there seemed to be extra "care" with her service. I didn't feel rushed or gypped on my massage time like I do some places. The prices are reasonable.
Setting: A cute pink room with black and white striped wall hangings inside of the main salon. There isn't a spa chair, but after the service I wasn't missing the spa chair that is usually only for looks anyway. An individual disposable plastic insert is used on the foot bath, because we all know in the back of our minds the nail chop shops we are used to only hose it down with an ineffective blue powder.
I left here feeling great and had cute nails. I will definitely be back! -

I've been to Bellagio about five times already - but so far only to have my nails done by Kristy Le. She is excellent, definitely doing nails better than anybody I've ever tried.
A few days ago I also tried the salons spa area - I had a facial with Katya. She did a really great job, I loved the products she used and my skin felt so perfect after the facial (and still does). I definitely recommend her.
Then I also had my hair done and it was just alright. No consultation, no talking at all, no water or coffee or anything like that. The price was definitely okay, much cheaper than what I usually pay at the other salon I go to - but I could see and feel the difference. I guess you just have to find the stylist that's right for you.
So - Kristy for nails is the best choice ever, the facial was great, for hair color and cut I'll have to continue looking for the right stylist for me.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I had heard of the salon from friends and needed a place to go where I trusted seeing as I am not from SD. I had a HORRIBLE dye job done and it had basically left my hair orange, brassy, and FRIED. I was terrified about what would have to be done. Unfortunately, I did have to cut some inches off of damage, however my stylist Natalie was AMAZING. and gave me an amazing all over corrective color and a fantastic cut. I walked out feeling confident that I had found my new salon and new stylist! Not only that but I looked so chic and had a great new do to rock! Definitely my go to girl from now on!

I had a great experience with this salon. My appointment was with Louis, who looks as if he should be in a skate park rather than a hair salon, but we meshed quick. I had a head of hair that was in dire need of help. I had an idea of what I wanted and what I didn't want - red, but not strawberry blonde, and I wanted highlights with the red. What impressed me right off was when Louis took me outside in the sun to look at my color and the color I wanted. He was easy to talk with and laugh with through the hour and a half I sat in his chair. When I went home I couldn't stop petting my hair and looking at it in the mirror. The color was FANTASTIC, he straightened it like I've never had it straightened before and it is still so soft two days, two workouts and two washes later. So impressed!! Thank you!

Had a package bought for my birthday which included a massage, facial, nails and lunch.
-The massage was pretty good (I've had better, but this was a pre-natal massage, so that's a lot different than the normal). I will probably stick to the Massage Therapy School in PB (Deborah is the best!).
-The facial was ok. This was my first one so I'm really not sure how to judge it, but the facialist was a little abrupt and my face felt overly greasy after.
- Lunch was decent: a salad with all romaine lettuce, my friend had a sandwich which had a small salad with mixed greens which looked much better than my lettuce.
-Nails. Kristy is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will go back to her again and again! She is really picky and takes her time. Loved all the products she used and my polish is perfect. She is easy to talk to and makes your nails look beautiful.
Go to her website http://www.nailscareby... and book directly through her, not the salon. -

Dissappointed X2...I live down the street and the first time I went I was a little dissappointed. The cost was $45 for a trim and the stylist did even not flat iron my hair after. I was at the salon for 30 mins and she seemed like she was in a rush. Later I found out that getting your hair flat ironed is included in the cost. I just wanted to leave the salon feeling like my hair was styled how I like it, not blow dryed flipped out...ick. Anyway, my mom wanted to get her hair cut so I called and made an appt for her due to the convenience in location. I spoke with the owner on the phone to book the appt. I told him that her hair was to her shoulders and asked for the price. He said about $40-$45. Once there, my mom decided last minute she wanted her hair colored as well and asked what the special package was for first time clients and Luis said "free cut with color". However, after speaking with someone @ the front desk he told her he didn't have time. Which is understandable (although most hairdressers in my experience make time, I think it was laziness). To top things off the cut ended up being $55 instead of $45. It really bothered me because I specifically asked for a quote and it went from $40s to $55?! Its not even the $10 but the principal of it that bothered me, especially since I was dissappointed the first time. My mom said she was shocked about being mislead.I don't think she was treated we'll by Luis, neven met the guy but don't send your mom to him, she will not be well taken care of. I felt bad because she is a nurse who works 12 hour shifts and it should have been a pleasent experience. Sometimes convenient locations are not worth the inconvenience in the end. Next time we'll pay more for quality customer service. Lesson learned!

My daughter was in desperate need of a cut and color correction. We found this salon online and decided to give it a try. They had an online special (which always helps bring me to a new place) and when I called for a quote he was able to make her an appointment right away. When we arrived we were introduced to Luis Taffola. He couldn't have been nicer. He took the time to explain what he could do but was very clear this would be a process to get her to the color she ultimately wanted. After a two hour process, she walked out looking AMAZING!! He did a fabulous job on the color, cut and style. She has a lot of hair that is very hard to straighten, but Luis was able to make it smooth, sleek and soft. As we checked out, I met the Director, Emil. Super, super nice and both were so great to deal with. My daughter has found a new stylist in Luis and I would recommend his services to anyone! I plan to go back and try the Spa services for myself next time.
