I've been getting my hair cut here for years with great results. I'd give it 4 stars, but recently they started charging $5 for bang trims. Other salons give bang trims for free. This just feels chintzy, like the salon owner is trying to nickel-and-dime customers to death. Tacky tacky tacky.
Oh, to give this place even a ONE star is being generous! PLEASE AVOID IT if at all possible! Here's why: This was my first experience here and I went here in Nov '08 - before the "holiday rush". I was VERY CLEAR and precise about the cut/style I wanted and although my stylist, Shelby, seemed initially friendly, she paid absolutely NO ATTENTION to what I told her I wanted (I even brought in photos and asked her, "Do you think this cut/style is possible? Are my expectations reasonable?" and her reply was, "Yes, absolutely! Of course!") As I'm watching her cut away, I'm starting to get nervous and by the time she was done, there were VERY NOTICEABLE chunks of hair missing from behind both ears and the cut/style looked absolutely NOTHING like any of the photos I showed her. I was floored and wanted to cry and made it clear I wasn't happy. So, to try to fix the disaster, Shelby brings over a 'make-up consultant who proceeded to very negatively critique my cosmetics (choice of color, application, etc.) w/out me even asking her for an opinion! By that time, I'm FURIOUS and wanted to just walk out! I asked for the owner/mgr.(Julie) and proceeded to tell her how unhappy I was with everything about her salon (and how patient I'd been through the entire ordeal). Julie graciously apologized and offered a complimentary color with her or new cut/style with her "top" stylist on my next visit (which would be months, when the horrible butch grew out long enough). After much cajoling, I accepted the offer and was willing to give the salon one more try. So I end up there again in late February '09 - willing to give the salon another chance - and I supposedly get the "top" stylist. It was definitely a deja-vu moment - SAME experience, different stylist! She also did NOT listen to me nor give me anything near what the photos looked like that I had brought in (AGAIN!) and now I have the same uneven chunks in my hair once again! This time though, she tried to sell me spa rejuvination/relaxing products not make-up but I still wasn't interested. Oh, and the Aveda shampoo/conditioner products I DID buy in Nov? TOTAL CRAP! RUN, don't walk, away from this salon!!!! And just for the record - I'm not a "picky" person with impossible demands. But I do expect the truth when I ask, "Is this possible?" I have shoulder-length, natural blonde, naturally straight hair and am simply trying to find a stylist who will LISTEN TO ME and what I'm asking for. After all, it IS my hair and "I" am paying for it and have to live with the style, right?
