My boyfriend and I stayed at the Bella Rosa Inn last year, and we were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful and how outstanding everything were, from the rooms to the yummy treats they had to the breakfast they served! Last year, we would have given this place 5+ stars!
That was the main reason why we decided to go back again this year. We stayed for 2 nights this past weekend. While the place was nicely decorated and the rooms were as beautiful as we remembered, there were a few minor things...
Granted last weekend was an unusual warm weather for this time of the year, the rooms got pretty hot during the night. Climate control was centralized throughout the house, and opening up the windows did not help very much. Another thing, our room was not cleaned when we came back in the afternoon on our 2nd day. We were told there were some sort of mix up. We were cool with it, didn't really bother us but for the price that we paid, we would have expected a little more. Lastly, when I had called to reserve our room, they had ask me if we had any food allergies. I told them "just olives", so we were a little surprised to see that they were serving frittatas with olives baked inside for breakfast one morning.
Nevertheless, we still love the Bella Rosa Inn! They do have freshed baked chocolate chip cookies available for you, and despite the olives, we thought breakfast was just superb! The Christmas decorations are all over the house, hallways and common areas looked clean. We especially loved sitting on the porch, on the rocking chairs with a glass of wine in hand, very peaceful, serene and relaxing!
Overall, I'll give this time around a 3.5 star (not sure how you get the half to show up in the ratings)
I'm went to Nevada City to hit the swimming holes on the Yuba River for Labor Day weekend, and I found this adorable B&B in Nevada City. They have 6 "themed" rooms, all with chandeliers and flat screen tvs (small ones). The rooms are on the small side but definitely do the job.
There is also wifi (in case you have to work), DELICIOUS chocolate chip cookies and free drinks, wine and snacks and every night, and a great breakfast. Let them know in advance if you have any food allergies and they will accomodate you. We ate our breakfast outside on the back patio most mornings, which was great.
It's about a 30 minute drive to the Yuba River from the inn, and there are quite a few upscale restaurants within walking distance.
