1 review for Beland Manor Bed & Breakfast
When I first realized I was going to book a trip to Fort Smith for work, I looked up local hotels. There is a plethora of highway hotels, you know, the ones we all know by name and chain. For once, I wanted something different, something more cozy, after all it is the week before Christmas and I am away from home. So there she is, Beland Manor B&B on the Chamber of Commerce website. I looked it up on google , found plenty of great reviews so I booked a room. I brought one of my team members to train, so he too booked a room here.
Having made the mistake of booking our flights through Little Rock, hitting normal winter delays, we found ourselves much later than expected, this all was ok by the owners. They were understanding and came to door to let us in even though we were a few hours later than check in time. So far, so good. The reception was warm and welcoming, I had booked the Antoinette room and my colleague booked the Frontier room. Both were cozy and clean. I had imagined this shared bathroom setup, but not at all, we each have a private bathroom. On top of all of this, there is a great room with a treadmill (which is awesome after eating non-california portion sizes!) , sofas, chairs, tv, lots of movies, etc... There is also a small kitchenette with fridge and microwave.
There is a tv in each of our rooms along with a DVD player, full range of channels to watch as well. Hmmm, compared to a highway hotel, for the same price or cheaper you get all of the coziness and warmth of being in a home!? So I never sleep well when I travel, call it what you will but I was much more comfortable here than in a hotel.
Now, let's get to the basics, water pressure - A+, water temperature - A+ (although I did accidentally scald myself but that is my own fault!), cleanliness - A+, room temperature - B (coming from California I know I probably can't cope with cooler room temps, so this is subjective).
Okay, so Breakfast... After eating a hefty dinner at Bravo I thought I would skip breakfast but I couldn't. First course was a yogurt and fresh fruit mix, wonderful! I wouldn't have expected pomegranate and pineapple in the winter here, but it was very good. Here is the part that I loved... French toast with pecans and syrup. I normally loathe pancakes and french toast. It just is my own thing from having to eat them so much as a child. Plus syrup is usually way too overpowering for my palette. Not this french toast. I ate every single bite of it and deep down I know I would have ate more. It was decadent. Hands down, yummy.
We are here for a couple more days, but I am so happy already with my stay, just thought I would give them a glowing review.
p.s. they have fast wi-fi
UPDATE - 12/20 -
Delicious breakfast every morning, Suzy is an amazing foodie at heart. I love her flavors and pairings, she uses fresh fruits and foods. So glad we stayed here and not some highway hotel!
