Make sure you're packin.... LOL one evening my husband watched a cop chase a guy down the sidewalk outside the store... the parking lot is cramped and full of rude drivers in a big hurry... and usually some guy outside holding a sign that reads the classic "War Vet... need help please..."
I would give them more stars if not for the weird vibe outside, I have to agree with Vanessa C. on that. The store is always very clean and well stocked. I really like that there are anti-bacterial wipes to use on the cart handles.
There is usually some cheesy rent-a-cop standing outside checking out moms as they walk inside the store.... LOL and at night I have seen the cop that parks outside in the space, although he is always staring down at a magazine or something and rarely looks up.... I think a naked chick could run by and he would continue reading this month's Golfers Digest.....
I don't do the bulk of my grocery shopping here since it is a lot pricier than my all time favorite, WinCo. The produce cannot be beat here, it's amazing. I have rarely ever purchased fruits or veggies here that weren't high quality and tasty. I also enjoy their meats, always very good color, freshness and value for your money. You get what you pay for, that's for sure. We bought some baby backs from the meat counter and they were some of the best I have ever had, very lean and meaty.
The employees are very helpful and yeah, it is a little on the fake side... but it's better than a store full of rude employees. I like that they almost insist on helping you out to your car... although it's not really a safety issue because I would feel guilty about using a 17 year old bag boy as a human shield to ward off the ghetto drifters outside.... LOL

I have been going here since I moved to Sacramento six years ago. It seems to be undergoing quite the identity crisis the last few months though. Everyone on the inside wants to help you and everyone on the outside wants help from you. Let me explain...
Management must have changed recently because a lot of the completely unimpressed, "bored with life" checkers I appreciated seem to have left and been replaced with very enthusiastic, "helpful" employees. I am generally surly and anti-social when doing my weekly grocery shopping and just want to be left alone. I have my list and I just want to get in and get out. You can count on being accosted at least 7 or 8 times with a "hey, how are you?" or a "hi, can I help you find something?" The worst part is sometimes you are asked by the same person multiple times how you are doing. I want to say, "Well, I was fine three seconds ago when you asked and I am still fine. Thanks." Besides that, I am there EVERY week! If I don't know where the salad dressing aisle is by now, I am hopeless!
As for the "outside", I am usually asked for change at least once or twice going into the store and once or twice on the way out. This particular store is particularly close to Discovery Park so it has a pretty diverse crowd of aggressive and unpredictable people who are homeless. I've seen numerous verbal arguments and even had to walk my cart in the parking lot traffic instead of on the walkway in order to avoid them. This harassment and scariness has spread to the whole shopping center from Taco Bell to Blockbuster. It has gotten so bad that a cop is permanently parked out front after dark.
1 star for being close to my house and 1 star for being a way safer alternative to Savemart (previously Albertson's) up the street. At least Bel Air hasn't been robbed at gunpoint multiple times!
