simply awesome! Love the atmosphere, staff is wonderful. Meatloaf in any form (I had Capellini meatloaf) is incredible!
Try the fried pickles!
Much better than i thought...!
the restaurant looks dirty and kinda shady, but has pretty good food.
the Chicken Pot Pie soup was yummy; the portobello mushroom wrap was delicious- $11 total
yum
This bar / restaurant stays open until 2:00 AM, but keep in mind the kitchen closes at midnight.
I arrived in Kentucky after 10:00 PM local time and this restaurant was conveniently located across the street from my hotel. The restaurant is dimly lit and the soft music playing in the background made my dining experience very comfortable.
My dinner began with the house Caesar Salad, crunchy lettuce squares, tossed lightly with a slightly tart, gritty cream dressing and topped with freshly grated parmesan cheese. Instead of croutons the salad is accompanied by a chunk of hot, crusty French bread with whipped butter.
The New York Strip Steak was grilled to a perfect medium. The inch thick cut was tender and juicy. A choice of potato or vegetable comes with the entree or you can choose a fancy vegetable like asparagus for an additional dollar. I had the lumpy mashed potatoes smothered in a hearty brown gravy.
My waitress just happened to be a runner herself so when I told her I was in town to run in the Flying Pig Marathon we ended up having a very enjoyable conversation.
Behle Street Cafe 's attributes are the live music, a huge patio and late hours. The restaurant is open way later than other places in the area, which means it's open after baseball games, the symphony or other events.
However, the menu is somewhat limited and inside the tables are cramped and the service is often slow. The interior does features some interesting artwork and a fairly large bar. One of my favorites is the shrimp cocktail. The salads and Shepard's Pie are also good.
I really want to highly recommend this place, but just can't. I've eaten here four times and while the food is good (but overpriced), the service is lacking.
The waitstaff is very nice, but SLOW. If this was a single encounter, I would have let it pass, but two of the times my salad came out at the same time as my main course. And the lag between service encounters (each time the staff comes to the table) was wide.
I sat at a table with colleagues and watch the staff stand at the bar and talk for 5 minutes until our waitress came over to take our initial drink order.
On another occasion, I ate dinner at the bar. While not the bartender's main focus, I felt ignored. I watched her pour 8 pints of Newcastle Brown Ale that weren't ordered (computer error -- not her fault, but important for the next paragraph).
I came back about two hours later with some colleagues and we sat on their outside patio (very nice). I ordered a pint of Blue Moon and was brought a pint of Newcastle Brown Ale. Did they think I wouldn't notice or was it a mistake? I stood up and looked at the bar. There were still several pints of Newcastle and no Blue Moon. I watched her pour me a new one.
The food quality is what the majority of ranking is based upon. It's solid. I hope your experience will be better.
My old boss took me for my birthday lunch yesterday and it was great as always. I started with the greek salad - very flavorful - nice dressing and some great olives! Then I had the vegetarian capellini with marinara and it was delicious! Lots of veggies and the sauce was great! The meatloaf pasta is typically my favorite - but I was trying to be healthy yesterday! The only place they're lacking is the bread - it's not that great...
