(in my best Austin Power's accent) "Ohh Behann, baby!"

Go here for Sunday drunk ass karaoke night and ask for some tall ass white dude named Joel to sing you the "Thong Song" by Sisco. That alone is worth 3 stars.

O btw. Their drinks are chizzeap.

Behan's can be hit or miss if you're going for the people-watching.  Some weekend nights you can go at 10 and it's practically empty, other times it's packed.  There's a HUGE age range - I inevitably end up sitting next to a 65-year-old guy while some frat boys drink their Buds behind me.  It's cool to see some of the older Burlingame locals, even if I often feel like the youngest person there.  There's sometimes live music on Saturdays that closes off the dart boards, so beware if you're going for that.  Never been to Sunday night karaoke, but I've walked by a few times and it sounds...terrible, as good karaoke should.

The drinks aren't cheap, but no more expensive than anywhere else in Bgame (except maybe Village Host).  This is the closest bar to me, so I'd go even if it sucked, but luckily it doesn't.  Just go late so you can have a better chance of a good crowd.

There's not much to say about Behan's that hasn't already been said. It's a great neighborhood bar thats chill during the week and busy on the weekends. Everyone seems to know everyone else and if you go in a couple of times they'll get to know you too. They DO pour a decent pint of Guinness but unfortunately not in a proper pint glass, but if you don't hold that against them its a great place to burn some time, drink some beer, and have a good time.

Pretty decent Irish pub smack dab in the middle of downtown Burlingame. Like the previous review said it is no frills. Step up to the bar order a drink and play some darts. It doesn't get any better than that. Also, watch your aim while playing darts because if you've have a few too many to drink or your aim sucks. You may put someone's eye out.

Great, Irish neighborhood bar along the Broadway strip in Burlingame...visited this bar for the 2nd time this evening and had a good time once again.

Pros: Authentic, towny atmosphere - lots of regulars, seems like the kind of place "where everybody (eventually) knows your name"...fills a void on a quieter strip where there are few bars to choose from...fireplace to warm up by on a rainy night...

Cons: Drinks aren't particularly remarkable...darts and dart boards are worn out, could use a little TLC....

I get the vibe that this may be a family-owned place - would love to know the full story behind it.  So far, the staff I've seen consists of a middle-aged man and woman and an older gentleman - all with hints of Irish blood/accents - are they a family?  Did the old man originally found the place?  Hopefully I will learn some of the answers on future visits - will definitely come again!

I went to Behan's with my cousin on Christmas Eve. Not typically traditional, but I was wide awake at our family's party, which happened to be right down the street. How convienent!

We head over there, and for a good hour or so the place was a bit empty. Ordered a few brew-skis, downed them fairly quickly (in my defense I just wanted to have a reason to exploit my annoying drunk personality), and then suddenly next thing you know the place was packed! Everyone was talking to everyone, Merry Christmas's went around at midnight, hugging and the like. I spent an equal amount of time inside drinking my beers and outside smoking cigarettes I bummed off some wonderful gentlemen. What I'm trying to remark upon is the company of people there. You just gather in a crowd and you're all family. Hell, last night one party ordered a pizza and invited us all to partake in cheesy-jalapeno goodness! It gets crazy. (Not to mention some guy was hitting on me and wanted a kiss at the end of the night, and I pointed to my cheek--he refused as if it was beneath him. My kareoke buddy, whom we had just met that night, went outside and called him a prick! Woooo!) Yeah...crazy.

As far as the other stuff goes...the bartenders are a little hard to get attention, as they have a lot of customers. Hard liqour drinks I've heard are a little expensive, but if I go Irish I go beer so who knows how much they cost. The overall feel of the bar IS as cozy as MaFan D. says it is. They have darts and a fireplace--how much cozier can you get?? Only downside: their bathrooms. The ladies room has one stall, and its about as small as a hollister dressing room (which fits kate moss after shes thrown up).

If you want this kind of atmosphere, and sing what you think your voice might be terrible, terrible kareoke on sunday nights (I'm the girl who sang Date Rape two weeks ago--and they still remember!...in a good way.) then come here. You'll be glad you found the place. It's like a home away from home! (Guess where I'm spending my St. Patty's Day??)

PS: There are some *hawt* Irish lads that come through here, too :)

A little dark and cave-like, but then, I think it's supposed to be that way. A low-key spot for darts and good, old-fashioned drinking. There's quite an age range among the patrons, which makes for excellent people watching.

A pint of Guinness will run you $4.50 -- and they know how to pour a Guinness well.

I don't remember much.  It was the last place of the night.  I just remember the older crowd and some cool things on the wall.

To some, it's home- to others, a home away from home.  Lovely any day of the week, but lively on Saturday and Sunday.  Great bartenders and a good place for making new friends.  Sunday Karaoke is always a good time and really kicks up around ten.

I am quite the fan of this spot. We happened upon it after a birthday dinner at Village Host down the street. Very chill atmosphere, nice folks and an awesome juke box.

tonight, it was a bit more crowded but, there was a sweet band called "Hollywood" there that did a cover of Regulators. F-ing SWEET, I say!!
I'm down to go there often now. yay for a new pub to frequent!

Great pub!  No windows though, so be prepared for a cave-like experience.  If it's a crappy day outside, this is a great place to hibernate.

this place is everything you'd imagine it would be.  cozy. no frills. maybe a little less typical irish than other typical irish places.

the mixed drinks are on the expensive side for the size, but in the SF area, this is quite normal.

this is a good place to go when you don't feel like leaving Burlingame or if you just want to take down a couple quick drinks.  this is not the place to go if you're looking for real action.
