My head has found a home! Absolutely , completely loved this salon! Great Aveda salon - and Jessica was just the best! Extremely friendly folks, caring and felt like I knew them, they knew me forever!
I am only going here - i am done searching for my hair salon! This is it :) -
Review from Angela S.
This salon is adorable, and the staff is all really friendly. Also it smells AMAZING. (They use Aveda products... I love Aveda.)
I've been twice so far--Faith cut my hair a few months ago, and just this week she trimmed my bangs. (Bang trims are complimentary, even if you want to do multiple trims between haircuts.) She was really helpful in discussing what I wanted done to my hair--I'm not always sure what I want (which probably drives stylists crazy), but she made recommendations and explained some of the different options, and the haircut turned out great.
The bang trim was super quick, but she was thorough. I often find with bang trims (from past stylists and salons) that there are a few stray chunks that don't make the cut (har, har), but not this time.
I would definitely recommend Faith and Beehive. -

I've been following my stylist, Anna Ellis-Fryer, all around Seattle for years! I'm grateful that she's settled at Beehive, it's a lovely hairshop! It's a little tricky to find...but that's just the nature of Tangletown. Leave enough time after you coiffing for a pint of some local brew across the street!
Book your appointment with Anna! She's the best! I've been sending my friends to her for years! -

Mitch has been cutting and coloring my hair for 1 1/2 years and I've ALWAYS been happy. He has a great eye for color and does what I want for a cut.
The front desk personnel are also the best in the business. They make me feel welcome and are not in any way pretentious like so many other salons (like in Ballard!).
This is a top of the line business so if you haven't checked it out do so - you won't be disappointed and have a good feeling when you leave.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Went in here for the first time to get a major hair cut - I was sick of my long long flat hair. Jessica was my stylist - I was able to discuss with her some different ideas I had, got her input, she cut it, blow dried it, then I wanted it changed. So she cut it and blow dried it again! SUPER nice, super patient with my indecision and insecurity about cutting all my hair off! And I am LOVING my cut. Will definitely come back. (Plus the interior decorations are so cute and colorful)

This is a great hair salon. The aesthetics are right on, the people know what they're doing, and Faith is the bomb. I always know I'm going to get a good cut and great color; unfortch for me I have wicked grays at an early age, so I'm glad at least to know I'm covered. Faith always pushes me, just a tiny bit, to leave my comfort zone and have more stylish hair, and left to my own devices wouldn't have cute hair - she's been right every time. My hair color is always perfect, she's totally competent, and she listens to what I want - what more can you ask?
They're on it at the front desk and in 2 years or so I've never had any issue, at all - go see Faith at Beehive already! -

I think I just found my favorite hair salon in Seattle! :)
I found out about Beehive Salon after buying a $100 certificate on LivingSocial during my quest to find a good hair salon in Seattle after a few so-so experiences at a few other hair salons, and I've only read and heard amazing things about Beehive Salon. Also, Beehive Salon is in a really cute area of Seattle--Tangletown. :)
I had the honor of getting my hair cut by Mitch, who is awesome, both in terms of cutting hair and a great conversationalist (which is important since sometimes it's quiet getting your haircut or not comfy and then its awkward). I also was able to have the deep-conditioning treatment. I LOVE my new layers, and it's just perfect! I will definitely be getting my next haircut here! Regular prices are reasonable so it's somewhere you can go regularly for trims and haircuts. Thanks Mitch!! -

WOW! What a fantastic salon! I would have probably never heard of Beehive unless I bought and used a Living Social voucher and I'm SO happy that I did! I had $100 worth of services to use and I got 2 wax services. I was a little hesitant, but Michelle, their esthetician, was (is) phenomenal and made this vulnerable experience easy, comfortable and actual pretty-pain-free. :)
When you walk in, you immediately notice the decor that is fun, funky, classy, comfortable and really showcases the salon's personality. They have a wide-array of Aveda products and offer full-services in Hair, Wax and Body & Face. The only reason why I give 4 stars instead of 5 is that I want to experience more of the services that they offer. According to everyone else, though, looks like an excellent establishment! -

LISA IS A PSYCHIC ARCHITECT SCULPTOR OF HAIR. (Sorry for the caps, but it's true)
Lisa is a hair archtect. Wait, no, she's a sculptor of perfect bangs that do what you want them to all day long.
I was really scared because I just moved here, and well you know. Call me vain...but who wants to grow out a bad hair cut.
So...Lisa listened very carefully to what I wanted, then went to town. I've read about hair stylists who listen, but in my experience, they nod their heads, then do what's "on trend". She really took the texture and nature of my hair into consideration...plus all the things I didn't communicate very clearly. So let me add that Lisa is a psychic architect sculptor.
I'm really happy with the hair cut. I'm reserving one last star though for---je ne sais quoi. Maybe it's because it's and Aveda salon. I just like other hair products.
But Lisa is great! Five stars for her. -

I had to reschedule two of my hair appointments so I can say the receptionist was very easy to work with. I finally got myself a 8 am appointment on a Saturday - my earliest hair cut ever- but I appreciated that there was this option!
My friend recommended Jale so I specifically requested her for this cut. I cut over 5 inches of my hair into an a-line. It was a dramatic change, but Jale did a great job making the cut flattering to my face. I've gotten SO many compliments on my haircut.
I got myself a LivingSocial voucher so I can't wait to try out the other services they have to offer! I'll be returning in two months to maintain my haircut! -

So I am kinda in a conundrum because I know that a lot of people would really love this place but its just not for me. Its of course really adorable inside and the people were for the most part friendly but not over-welcoming. I wanted something a little more exciting from this place and I also wanted a little pampering in all honesty.
It is a really cute place and it your not really going for anything too crazy they will oblige. But I don't know it really doesn't do it for me. -

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
Ok so I've never gotten my hair cut here, but I do get my hair removed here. :)
I had a horrible experience with another salon that had removed chunks of skin from my body instead of hair. So I decided that I needed a new salon. I came here 6 years ago and have never gone anywhere else! I go in at least once a month so if you tally that up I've been to Bee Hive quite a bit.
Making an appointment was so easy and when I walked into the salon for the first time I was greeted by very friendly front desk staff. But don't think you can just walk in off the street. Because the salon is so good, you do need an appointment.
My experience with Michele their esthetician and my saving grace has always been amazing. From waxing to facials I always leave the salon happy and stress free. -

I stopped in Beehive one day after lunch because I was looking for an Aveda salon with a well recommended level 1 hair stylist... I'm glad I did! I just got my hair cut my Faith this morning and she did a wonderful job on my hair! She really listened to what I wanted and spent a good 5 minutes looking at my hair and seeing what would be the best way to cut it. I have auburn very curly fine hair that I also straighten about half the time and she understood exactly what I wanted! This has to be one of my favorite hair cuts!
The salon has a great vibe, good interior and there are no issues parking! -

I just got my hair cut here again today. And I wanted to restate my love for this place and Kirby. Really, she is amazing and does such a great job. Plus, she makes it fun to talk to while you get your hair cut - none of that cheesy small talk crap.
The place is nice and clean, the ladies who work at the desk are always super friendly, and the other stylists seem to have just as happy of customers too.
Between now and the last time I was here, I tried a few other places - mostly out of convenience and today reminded me why I shouldn't even bother anywhere else. I love, love, love my hair. It may not look like a huge difference to other people, but I can always tell it's been cut nicely.1 Previous Review: Show all »

After reading comments from fellow Yelpers, I decided to come in to Beehive Salon and see Anna.
Anna was nice and pleasant. She asked me what I wanted and stuff.
So when before I had my hair cut, I came in with my hair iron-curled.
Anna thought that I should have my hair styled the way it was when I came in. From the way she said it, I totally thought it was supposed to be a complimentary service. However, it would take a lot of time. So I told her to just kind of straighten my hair a little bit instead.
When I went up to the counter to pay, Anna told the cashier that I was supposed to be charged an extra $15 for it.
After Anna left, the girl also snapped at me.
She thought I should have let them know in advance if I had wanted my hair done after the haircut, so that they could arrange Anna's schedule.
I was hurt by this. First of all, I DID NOT ASK FOR IT
Second of all, I WAS CHARGED FOR IT
And third.. I FEEL INSULTED
I have been thinking over this and thought that I should just let it go, but I think people should know that this salon is not indeed the most perfect salon.
Cheers! -

Downer 1: The stylists who work here do not actually sport giant beehive bouffants.
Downer 2: This salon does not actually specialize in turning your mop into a giant beehive bouffant.
But! The stylists are friendly and fashion forward and fetch tea. They use eco-conscious Aveda products and wood antique desks for their stations and the walls are covered with lively local art. I've gone to Faith, Laura, and Robin and always step out looking/feeling dap. Faith inverted my bob a year and a half ago, before inversions were bobbing up everywhere. Laura dyed my 'do a deep sultry brown, and Robin has slowly lightened it back without harshing its mellow. If you are like me and book at the last minute, you can feel secure no matter who you see--they are each so skilled that you can't go wrong.
As long as you are not much bothered about leaving without a giant beehive bouffant, this place is a-ok.Listed in: Aesthetica, You Look a Fright

If there's one thing I can't stand about getting my hair cut, it's a stylist who doesn't know when to stop yammering and just focus on the task at hand. Before I moved to Seattle from California, I endured this kind of hairstylist for five years. But she was good at what she did, despite her taking two to three hours to cut and color my hair, so I just took the insipid blathering with a grain of salt.
When I moved here a little over a year ago, I finally said no more. I would seek out a hairstylist who could make meaningful yet casual conversation while taking care of business on my head. I also wanted to find someone who didn't charge an arm and a leg for a simple haircut, but someone who knew what they were doing with a pair of scissors. A difficult task, I know.
After a few lackluster appointments with some unmentionable hairstylists, I finally found what I was looking for in Teshan at the Beehive Salon. I've been to her twice now, and both times I left feeling extremely satisfied with the cut. This last time, I was feeling really impulsive, yet the only way I could describe the cut I wanted was "shoulder-length and sassy." Teshan took those few words and ran with it, masterfully taking off more than six inches.
The whole time, I felt at ease in her hands. She started off by giving me a five minute scalp and shoulder massage, a definite bonus to the haircut experience. While she cut away at six years worth of growth, we chatted about movies, making friends in Seattle, and other semi-important topics. The thing about Teshan is she doesn't feel the need to talk just for the sake of filling silence. Yet she offers up the right amount of conversation so as to make the experience a relaxing one. And, her price for a haircut is extremely reasonable - $30! I went to another stylist at the same salon before her who charged $60 for a trim. Best to ask before you book an appointment.
Putting hairstylist aside, I really enjoy the Beehive Salon as well. It's upscale trendy, yet completely unpretentious. Sounds of KEXP fill the space, but when the station took a turn toward obnoxious, twangy bluegrass music, the station was promptly changed to more contemporary music. The receptionist is always friendly, and usually, I can get a same-day appointment without any problem. On the whole, I definitely recommend Beehive Salon, and more importantly, Teshan.Listed in: Hair - it's what's on your…

I visited Beehive salon for the first time last week of a recommendation of a friend. My hair is sort of difficult, and I'm particular about it, so visiting new salons can be a bit stressful for me. Everything about my experience put me at ease, particularly how my stylist, Jessica (TOTALLY recommend her, she's awesome) treated me. She took the time to listen to what I wanted for my hair, asked thoughtful questions, and was totally laid back and friendly. I thought for the quality of the salon and the cut, the price was extremely reasonable. I recommend this place to any of you Seattle area ladies- and men!

I moved into the Tangletown area in March and the first thing I did was make an appointment at Beehive for a much needed haircut.
Faith was/is my hairstylist. Not only did she do a fantastic job with my hair, she and I got along really well. UPDATE: Just saw Faith again this week and I asked for something completely different for me BANGS! Faith, once again, did a great job with the overall haircut and went slow with the bangs so I wouldn't freak out.
UPDATE: I went in July and after I got my haircut I got my eyelashes tinted. The gal did a great job and they are still dark mid-September. -

"Top 5 reasons Robin Salis rocks my socks off"
1. She's effing a-dor-a-ble
2. Upon entering the salon she asked me if wanted a glass of wine. -Um, is my name not Alicia motha-effin Butler?
3. She listens to me. About my hair problems and my life-problems *sob!*
4. I think I have a girl-crush on her based on her shampoo skills alone.
5. She gave me probably one of the cutest haircuts I've ever gotten!Listed in: Born to Shop

Mitch is awesome! He always takes into consideration what you want; not what he thinks would look good (although I do value his opinion). He's also fun to talk to, is a total professional, and obviously enjoys what he does - because he does it very well!
He's got an amazing memory, too. The first time I saw him was election night 2008. I didn't see him again for almost a whole year, but not only did he remember me, he remembered what we talked about!
(it took me awhile to go back to Beehive because I had moved up north and tried different salons that are closer to my new neighborhood. Nothing stuck.)
Even tho I live in N. Seattle now, I will make the drive back to my old stomping grounds to give my hair the "Mitch" treatment whenever it needs it. He's that good! -

I went to Beehive for the first time last night for a haricut and I LOVE the place!
First of all, my haircut was great, and the stylist was incredibly helpful with offering me tips. She listened carefully to everything that I said I wanted, but also spoke up to let me know if I was suggesting something that would look awful. She made sure I was with her every step of the way. And the price is incredible -- only $38 for a cut, including a shampoo (w/ scalp massage), blow-dry, and styling.
The salon is a very refreshing place -- nothing like those salon chains that completely lack personality. Beehive has a great vintage-y feel and look. And that yummy Aveda herbal tea...
Also, I love that they use Aveda products, not some weird toxic stuff like a lot of places do.
I will definitely be back! Hopefully next time Mighty-O will be open so I can treat myself to a donut... -

Is it possible that my hair stylist/cutter knows my hair better than I do?
I hadn't gotten my hair actually cut in two years and graduation was coming up. After checking out the reviews on Yelp, Beehive seemed the best.
It was a great relaxing environment. I knocked down a star because I felt like I was looked over a bit, maybe because of my age? Every other customer was offered tea and such as they entered but I was not. I know I look young for my age but I honestly am 18 and paying the same amount of money as the older looking customers.
Brenda cut my hair and did a fabulous job! I admit, right after the cut I was a bit weary. I wasn't too sure about it as I left the salon, in fact, I was quite unsure about it.
You know how hair cuts look great when you leave a salon and a day later it's all blah, for me, the oppisite. I left and wasn't keen on it. But after a day I loved it.
My new, short hair cut has grown on me and I'm having a blast with it. I'm so thankful I trusted Brenda to do what she thought was best. It was also a pretty fantastic price (including the lovely scalp massage). I think I paid $43. Still more than a neighborhood styling chain, but it was worth it.
For those weary of heading into a salon or getting their hair styled, it's a really relaxing place and a comfortable environment, which makes the experience all the better. -

I've been going to the Beehive for a few years now since I moved into the area. Since then I have moved to Ballard so it's not as convenient but I still make the drive to Greenlake to get my hair done. Over the years the Beehive ladies have helped me grow my hair out, put in highlights, dye it brown, put in more highlights, cut all my hair off and finally go platinum. I've seen Nicole, Brenda, Lisa and most recently Jale and they have all rocked. All the other stylists are all totally friendly as are the front desk folks.
Michele also does my brows for me and she does a lovely job. It's nice to get my brows and hair done at the same appointment. -

I have tried numerous salons and have finally found a stylist worth my repeat business. I've had three appointmens with Robin at Beehive and she is seriously awesome. She's confident, creative, and efficient. I gave Robin free reign to "update" my hair, and she did not dissapoint. Furthermore, she has completely transformed my mornings because I no longer need to use a straightening iron! I have received mad-crazy compliments on my new 'do and feel great when I look in the mirror.
The salon itself is welcoming and all of the staff that I have encountered have been friendly and professional. They also include wonderful scalp massages before your appointments.

I was in dire need of a good hair cut that wouldn't break the bank. Such as the last $80 haircut I got.
So I went to beehive through the glowing reviews on yelp and found it to be just so. Got my eyebrows waxed to perfection, and hair cut, blown, and styled all for about $50-somthing. Not bad!
My stylist always asked how I preferred my hair usually, offered me tea divinty tea and gave a much needed scalp massage.
For the price I paid I would say this spot is definatly worth it -

Thank you Anna, you cut my bangs exactly how I asked, while still shaping them the way they would fit best to my face. Thanks for not cutting too much, for engaging with me in fun and relaxed conversation, for giving me options for what I want, and it doesn't hurt that we have our HB love. :-)

Anna Ellis is the best hair stylist that I have ever had. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone - male (b/c she is great with short hair) and female for so many wonderful reasons! I moved to Seattle in 2004, and saw a co-worker's cute short hair cut, asked her who did it, and was referred to Anna. Thank god I found her - moving to a new city and finding a new stylist is tough.
I'm 33 years and I have naturally fine "corn-silk" baby hair, which is a dirty blond color. I used to keep it short (pixie) and bleach it myself (1996-2007). While Anna was giving me awesome short cuts for many years (which I got many many compliments on in public from strangers), she also consulted me about bleaching processes, and how to keep my hair healthy. She was never pushy about coloring it herself. She recommended products to me, but since I am mostly a very low maintenance hair kind of girl, I usually didn't buy any products while my hair was short.
I studied art in school and fancy that I have an eye for design, so I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my hair. After Anna would finish a cut and hand me the mirror, she was very patient while I would inspect it inch by inch and ask for a few changes here and there. When I decided I wanted to grow out my hair (just because I needed a change), she consulted me through that process and helped me transition out of coloring my hair myself to using more sustainable coloring products that wouldn't weaken my fine hair as it grew out. I trust Anna with any hair recommendation. I bought a couple products from the Salon that Anna recommended and they always worked exactly as expected, but for the most part, Anna knows that I like to keep things simple, so we would discuss hair styles and maintenance techniques along those lines.
From 2004-2010, I followed Anna to her current Salon - Beehive, in Wallingford, and I would follow her anywhere. I've been meaning to write this positive review of her for a long long time. Anna is a beautiful, fun, confident and smart woman and I always looked forward to talking to her and catching up on her latest adventures. After a mediocre cut here in my new city - Austin, I feel the loss of Anna's expertise tremendously. -

I went to Beehive on a bit of a whim. But as an Aveda salon and (rightfully) well-reviewed here on Yelp, maybe I didn't come entirely on a whim. Brenda did an excellent job with my fine medium-length hair that has a bit of wave to it. I've been growing out my hair, but in the between time, I wanted more shape (medium-length hair doesn't have to be boring right??). Brenda listened and talked with me about different options; she clearly knows what she's doing and snipped with a great deal of precision.
I walked out of the salon with a great cut that gave my hair more volume and movement. I love it!
Bonus: this salon is steps away from Zoka, a place to grab a delicious hand-crafted latte and show off your new 'do. -

Jessica rocks! I was recommended to Jessica from a good friend of mine; as cautious as I am and as frightening it is to change hairdressers, she came highly recommended. So I obliged, plus my do was overdue. Firstly, Beehive Salon is so vibrant with energy- the space has a welcoming bohemian feel to it. The furniture is eccentric; the walls are decorated with mosaic; the ambiance exudes contemporary from the music to the staff... tens years Beehive has been shearing Tangletown- they have definitely got it going on.
Once I arrived, I was greeted promptly by the hostess and offered a glass of tea, coffee, wine, soda, etc... I was thinking maybe a shot to take the edge off (but that wasn't needed)! As soon as I met with Jessica I immediately saw why my friend recommended her. She is warm and comforting... she is a service professional. She listened with intent and we spoke at length on how to proceed on my hairdo.
Pixie hairdo colored, cut and styled perfectly. Per-fect-ly. Needless to say, I booked my next visit and will continue to do so as long as Jessica works at Beehive. I think I've found my head a home. -

I had been admiring a handful of my friends' hair for months. After my hairstylist left, I asked them who they went to. They all said Katie at Beehive Salon. So I booked an appointment and awaited my haircut.
The salon is really cute, friendly and bright. The receptionists all have great hair and are very welcoming. And Katie is amazing! She listened to me talk about my various and specific ideas for my hair, looked at the many photos I brought in and talked about what would work best for me. She's also hilarious and fun! I absolutely loved my hair and style.
And if you need bangs, she's your girl. She can do any sort of bang and do it well. I've now had straight, side, short and asymmetrical bangs from her. I won't go anywhere else! Oh and bang trims are free, which is perfect to keep up that killer fringe. -

I love the inside of Beehive--it was so pretty and bright! The color clash was not at all jarring (very trendy, in fact) and I absolutely adored the turquoise accents. I came in for the first time after my favorite stylist at the Headlines Salon in UVillage left for Prague (come back Allison!) and the staff at the desk were a little bit rude, but overall fine.
I was expecting something really wonderful, but my stylist, Danielle, only did an OK job. For someone older, it would have been fine--perfect, even! But I'm a teenager, and my hair turned out sort of flat and lacking in style. Danielle was really nice, though, if a bit snobby about my first-time-client status.
Overall, it was a nice experience, but I think I'm going to try something else next time! -

Ventured here with a girlfriend for some well deserved pampering. This is a great Aveda salon! Love the cute decor, very welcoming and warm and not pretentious at all. We were promptly greeted at the door with a smile and immediately checked in for our appointments and offered a beverage. I opted for hot tea although rumor has it that they also serve wine? Can it be true?
(correction, thanks Shannon!) LISA was my stylist, very bubbly and warm personality. Very easy to talk to and the conversation flowed naturally. How refreshing! She really listened to what I wanted and made some great suggestions as well. The color turned out slightly darker than I thought but I'm sure the summer sun (if it ever shows up!) will lighten it up perfectly. The cut was great, she trimmed up my ends and put in a few layers for oomph. She also trimmed my bangs and styled everything beautifully. She really paid attention to how I had my hair styled when I came in and replicated that beautifully so that when I walked out of the salon I was feeling like a million bucks! Thanks Lisa! :)
Also, they do not push products on you like other salons do. They just let you know what they are using on you and leave it up to you whether you want to buy. No pressure situation, very nice! Even give out samples of products your interested in trying but don't want to commit to right away.Comment from Shannon W. of Beehive Salon 5/14/2009

I've been going to Beehive and Shannon for just about 4 years now. The first time I went, I was in the process of growing out my hair, and decided that maybe I wanted to stop coloring it. Shannon and I talked about it, and she did a foil to break up the line between colored and my own color. I was able to transition into natural hair color with maybe one more well-timed foil.
In the meantime, my hair was going quite gray and turning from fine and straight to a combo of wiry gray and straight hair. It was, for me, kind of amusing. Until I saw a photo of my semi-fuzzed hair. No, this is not what I wanted, and I decided to go short again. Shannon was right there with me. I've gone from a conservative short cut, which looked great, to a very short spiky cut that is a ton of fun. I have a standing every-5-week appointment, with stellar results every time.
And you know, everyone there is fun to talk with, and knowledgeable about the products, so I'm always steered right. One of the reviewers said she would come here even if she was bankrupt. I feel the same way.
