A week ago, My coworker was raving about Bone-In Filet Mignon; so we called up another butcher shop nearby and they simply told us they did not carry it. When I called Beef Palace, I believe his name was Sean or something thoroughly explained to me why that cut was so rare to get and probably in the end, not worth the price tag. I mean, he took his time to weigh out the pros and cons of this Bone-In Filet! I was wow'd by how nice he was, especially over the phone!!

I finally got a chance to come in today, I picked out a TBone that was just shy of 1 lb and my boyfriend got the Ribeye. Both were around $14/lb. We also picked up some sourdough bread and spread. Total was $36.

The guy helping us was very patient and willing to answer all our questions! We didnt get any potatoes (grr, cause I read about everyone else on Yelp getting them) but oh well.

We added some seasoning and the BF grilled them up Medium on a Charcoal grill. They were juicy, tender and delicious!

I ate like a fat pig and Im proud! lol. Cant wait to go back for more! They even carry sushi-grade fish and scallops, shrimps, crab & more! I love this place!

This place is heaven.  When times were good, my family and I got the filet all the time.  The only other steak I've ever really enjoyed in my life is Omaha Steaks.

And the guys that work behind the counter are CUTE ! (Bonus ! )  Oh yeah, and the potatoes are free, when they have them.

Cash or ATM.  No credit cards.

I kept hearing about this place and I finally got a chance to stop in.  From the street sign, I was expecting the Costco of meat shops.  As I got close to the front door, it looked real small.  As I walked in, I was BLOWN AWAY!!  Old western music blaring, bright red decor and uniforms and beef, Beef, BEEF!!! Everywhere was beef.  HUGE selection of top of the line cuts.  No crap here, my friends.  The clean cut chops and steaks were presented by clean cut employees, each more friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful than the rest.

They had a big selection of bread, cheese, poultry, seafood, spices, sauces......How did they fit in in this small space?  So far....5 stars....

I walked out with rib eye steaks, stuffed pork chops, prosciutto, sliced turkey and an empty wallet.  You see, they are expensive and they don't take credit cards.  Seriously, WTF?  Who does not take plastic any more??  Jack-in-the-freakin'-Box takes credit cards.  - 1 star.

Best Butcher shop ever! Harkens back to the days when people bought meat only from the butcher, who could cut it anyway you wanted and recommend choice cuts for whatever the occasion required.

If you're a carnivore, you'll love this place. For one they have a giant ass steer sitting at the entrace. When you walke inside it just feels like a real butcher shop, lots of anglo western nik naks, this is where John Wayne would pick up a rib eye. They don't have any carne asada or chorizo, this ain't no carniceria... Just great cuts of meat and professional butchers. Plus they give you free russet potatoes!

(As others have mentioned, this shop is cash only!!!)
This place is wonderful! I've shopped here for years, and the butchers are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The other day I went to Rite Aid (which is next door) and I walked by the butcher...the most heavenly smell of grilling steak in the air. I stopped in, and the butcher smiled and handed me a toothpick skewered with a perfectly medium-rare strip of steak. Woah! Delicious! Okay, so I went home with two premium pieces of ribeye! LOL! ;)
As Jim Gaffigan says: "Meat is murder. Tasty, tasty murder." :D

This place is great if you are ready for a hearty meal from the grill.  Be forewarned - CASH ONLY.  They have an ATM inside, but deal only in cash, so if you are flush in liquid assets, please keep reading.

They have great cuts of all meats, but they also stuff and marinate.  They make beef skewers that are teriyaki-flavored that are simply amazing, and so tender.  Their handmade sausages are also great - both the sweet and the spicy.

And as your final kicker?!?  "What more do you get", you ask?

With each order you get free potatoes just thrown in your bag.  No need to go to the grocery store now!!!

Beefy indeed. Reading about this place I was expecting an old, hardened butcher with a bloody apron to greet us, not the roomful of good looking young dudes that did. Wow. Who knew this was the type of beef I'd find in beef palace.

As you know, I'm no chef, and I let the butcher know as much as soon as I went in, and that my butcher shop experience was very limited. After a bit of discussion about how many people we'd have and what the budget would be we ended up with an obscene about of meat. Obscene. That's right.  Deliciously obscene. Mmmmmmmmm.....

Unfortunately I didn't leave with any juicy cuts of beef, but I did get porked big time. With supreme pork chops and baby back ribs. Yep. Got porked. Majorly. I wasn't so sure about the pork chops, but when I saw the hand written note above them saying "As a butcher, I didn't even know pork could get so much better...but these are delicious." ...or something to that effect. I was sold!

I put my chef, AKA Mr Q, to work when we got home, and while I'm sure it's partly in due to Mr Q's stellar BBQ skills....but I'll be damned if that was the best porking I've had in a looong time. Oh, and the pork chops were the best I've ever had too!

This place has been around forever!  They are not only known for the cow statues that hang out outside of the store, but they are known for having the best meat in town!!!

As a kid, my mother take us grocery shopping and we would come to this place for our meat.  It's not a huge butcher shop, but it has always been very clean and neat inside.

The staff was always friendly and they were always helpful.  When it came to meat, they knew what they were talking about! - No doubt!

Aside from the friendly staff, they have some really great meat that you can buy ranging from filet mignon to strip steaks, to top sirloins, to rib eye.  They even sell an array of beef jerky (which if you ask me, all tastes yummy!  You have to try them all!!).

If you are ever in Huntington Beach, you've got to get some meat from here.  It is the best!!!

Cant really say anything new that hasn't already been previously mentioned with the exception of this...

even though its the Beef Palace.....their Chicken is amazing. Big Fat Juicy Chickens. They cost a little bit more but its well worth it. A whole chicken is roughly 7 bucks but theyll cut it for you and even season it if you like. Next time youre having a BBQ this is the way to go.

Beef Palace has been my regular butcher since I moved to H.B. last year.  I had been mourning the demise of the stand alone butcher shop when I drove by and thought I'd stop in to give it a go.  I have not been disappointed.  I visit weekly to get my beef and pork and these guys know their stuff.

Whatever the occasion they can hook you up - dry aged beef, cut-to-order filet steak or sausages for the BBQ, pork ribs, excellent pork chops, lean ground beef, beef for stroganoff, a duck to roast, Paddy's Day corned beef - whatever.  Plus advice on cooking.  What more could you ask?  Bring cash / check - no credit cards.

As a side, my mate told me that if you ring the bell in there you get a free margarita but I have not tried that (yet)!

I had trouble believing any place could be as awesome as the rave reviews claim this place to be, so I went to check it out for myself....

It is, it really IS everything the reviews say and more.

The meat is fabulous, and the service is wonderful!

I love every single thing I bought there (and I bought a LOT. lol)

In reply to some people saying they wanted free potatoes too, the potatoes are still by the door, though I think they're maybe for the regulars, because I wasn't offered free ones. Or it might have been because I was served by one of the younger guys and he might not have thought of it on the spot.
I didn't need any so I didn't ask about them, but if it's important for you I guess you can always ask and they'll probably give them to you?

I now understand why every review of the Beef Palace is 5 stars....we needed a prime rib roast for Xmas Dinner and I took you Yelpers at your words....the Lil Lady and I drove all the way down to Huntington Beach...used the GPS and found "meat heaven on earth"  Oh my God....what a wonderful place...I had called in advance and ordered a 7 bone (11 lb) prime rib roast....they seasoned it for us, tied the ribs to the bottom, gave us a receipe, gave us potato's and gave us hope...because we finally found a local family butcher shop, the way it used to be...top quality & good service ...it helped to make a wonderful Xmas Dinner...the Son in Law told me he was at Lowery's a few weeks earlier, and that my Rock Salt roasted Xmas Prime Rib was better....there was plenty for left overs and it was just as good the next day.  Thank you Beef Palace....we'll be coming back, you can be sure.

Take care all,

Tom O

Just phenomenal - both in its staying power and in overall quality.  It's like a step back in time to a simpler age at the Beef Palace - the age where Alice went to the butcher shop to see Sam the Butcher and got a tasty hunk of beef...for the Bradys.

I'm not a huge red meat eater.  But, every once in a while, I want a good, juicy steak.  And, luckily for me, there is no better master of the grill than the one I married.  But, when his prodigous talent meets lame meat, it's such a waste.  Luckily, we found our way to the Beef Palace.

Not lying - their steaks rival some we've ordered from D'Artagnan, at a fraction of the price.  (OK, I exaggerate slightly.  But I dare you to find a better aged ribeye.)

"Do you want an aged, seasoned ribeye?"  Why, yes, I do - what's the price difference?  "Same price."  Are you kidding me?!

Free potatoes by the door, service with a smile, and a great recipe for prime rib.  I am in love.

Do you love fresh meat?  Want to ride on a cow?  Visit this butcher shop.  They pratically have everything you're looking for in a cow.  They also make their own beef jerky.  This place has been in business for a very very long time.  That just goes to show that this shop knows their meat very well.  If you're going to have a bbq and would like to visit this place, you won't regret it.  Thank me for leading you to this place.  You get what you pay for.  If you don't know the area quite well, just look for Rite Aid.  The butcher shop is a couple of stores away.  Just look for the cows standing in front of the shop.

I have been going to Beef Palace for years. Everything is top notch. The tri tip in unbelievable and so is the tenderloin of beef.  It's more expensive, but you really get what you pay for.

When I first went to this place, I thought... WOW, beef must be good for you.... all these butchers are tall, dark and handsome.... well, it's run by a family, so no wonder they all have the same good looks!!

PS, you just help yourself to the potatoes. They are in the wheelbarrow next to the register.

5 stars...no brainer....

This is your father's (and mother's) butcher shop. (Or for us rednecks--daddy's and mama's butcher shop.)

This place does NOT resemble that quaint East Hampton meat boutique shown on Barefoot Contessa where Ina G. get her steaks. There is no Martha Stewart fussing over free range chicken with the waspy guy behind the counter. There are no cooking show hosts riding up on bicycles. There ain't no stinkin' website. There ain't no stinkin' catalogue. And they don't take credit cards.

This is the real item--a piece of Texas dropped on Bakersfield-by-the-Beach at Warner and Springdale.

Cuts of meat are all USDA Prime and are priced not much higher that the grocery stores. For years, we have purchased most of the higher parts of the cow--filet, rib-eye, top sirloin. The ground beef is cheaper and better (rib-eye/sirloin mix) than the competition. The lower cow items such as tri tip, flank steak and the non-cow items such as sausages, yardbird and pork are all restaurant quality. Vegetarians can help themselves to the free tri-tip-sized potatoes by the cash register....potatoes that should be also rated USDA Prime.

If Larry the Cable Guy had a cooking show, I would hope that the Beef Palace would be his studio set.

If they would let me live there I'd move in tomorrow.
Actually, the biggest danger from shopping here is that you'll never look at your corner grocery store the same again.
You definitely CAN taste the difference in the meat.  It's the best I've ever had.  And if you want something cut specially, just ask!  If you want cooking or grilling tips, just ask!  Interested in hints of what marinade might be best, just ask!  I seriously have nothing bad to say about the place.
Well, except that they won't let me live there.

One of the last remaining butcher shops.  The staff is super knowledgeable about what they do.  Their meat is of the highest quality and the prices are fair.  By fair, I mean they are higher than most, but the quality of service far outweighs what you will find anywhere else.  I will gladly pay a little extra so that a place like this continues to stay in business.  Whether they toss in a piece of jerky or the barrel of potatos that they encourage you to take a couple of - they always go the extra mile.  Don't forget your cash, they don't take plastic!

I always ask for my tri-tip untrimmed and they never hesitate, they'll trim it to my picky (proper) specifications with a smile.  I make my own sausages and they always have natural casings available, you can't find that just anywhere.

long live the beef palace

Absolutely amazing.  I'm speechless

Best steak I have ever eaten.  I will be going back to the place time and time again.

They get 5 stars alone for how knowledgeable and friendly the staff is.  If you have ANY questions about grilling your meat or pairing your food, they can help.  I finally know the proper way to grill chicken...I SUCK at grilling chicken.

Please keep this place alive.  The prices are up there, but it is WELL WORTH IT.

Prime Beef! not choice or select but PRIME beef. Huge selection. Perhaps a little pricy, but if you remember the meal then it's worth it IMO. This is where you order your Christmas Prime Rib. It's kind of hard to see from Warner. The parking lot is usually full. I think there is some kind of KMart or something in the center.

Update: No Plastic accepted. Cash or Checks only.

You can't go wrong here no matter what you get.  They have a great selection . . from tri-tips to filets with fair prices on choice, prime and aged-prime cuts.  I've also gotten cold-cuts here and like them as well.  I think my favorite are the prime (but not aged) ribeyes or strips.  These are priced similar to Omaha Steaks but are better, IMO.

Each time we've come here we've gotten free potatoes with our order, too!

Update - 10/28/08
We still come here a lot but, truthfully, we have had issues with freezer burned sausages on 2 occassions and gristly ribeyes on another.

I can't bring myself to lower the number of stars because having a real butcher shop is so cool . . but there are plenty of things I would buy there that I don't currently if thier quality and consistency were a little better.

Update 5/31/09
We hadn't been here in a while since we started buying our occasional prime steaks at Whole Foods.  But Whole Foods is a bit of a drive so I decided to try the good old Beef Palace again last week.  I got some Prime Ribeyes for $26 a pound.  That is somewhat over-priced but the steaks looked really good.  They tasted good, too . .but there was a lot of gristle and junk that I would expect, for $26 per lb, to be cleaned away.

I can't help it - just have never been 100% happy with the meat from this place.  I know I am in the minority on this one but I've been a lot of butcher shops and eaten a lot of prime steak and this place just doesn't quite cut it for me.

BTW - I am certain that the choice ribeyes that they sell are the exact same ones you buy in Ralphs or Vons - where you can get them for as little as $5 per lb if you catch a sale.

Still can't bring myself to take away a star from the only butcher shop (that I know of) in this area.  But I'm frustrated because I really would spend about 3 to 4 times more money there if the quality and consistency were higher.

This is the best butcher shop around, a real, old fashioned western butcher.  Bring cash or checks since they don't take credit cards.  They butcher and age their own prime beef.  I can not purchase supermarket bacon after having theirs.  The staff is helpful and know their stuff.  The owner made sure the aged prime rib I was getting was aged to his liking - he went and fetched another after inspecting the one up front and decided it needed a few more days of aging.  These guys rock.  It ain't cheap, but that's not the point of this place.  One of a kind.

Reading about how "good" or "great" it is kinda makes me chuckle.  Our family was one of the FIRST customers of this fine establishment. We sat in the back while "Dad" cut up a half beef, small lamb and a small pig.  While he did this we ate sliced, fresh salami and watched his kids running around.  Followed Dad through his illness and passing.  The kids have done great with the shop.  I haven't seen them in years as we have moved from H.B.  Their meats were always of fine quality.  They have stuck it out through thick and thin and I know they will continue to succeed.  Once you try it, you'll be a customer forever.  Howie Subnick and Family.

As a non-beef eater, I was a little surprised to find myself in a butcher shop, let alone one called the Beef Palace, but I was pleasantly surprised. I went there to get a good steak for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day and, of course, used Yelp reviews to guide me to a butcher who would be able to help someone as clueless as myself. Good call coming here. I walked in and threw up my hands in surrender, giving the guy behind the counter a quick rundown of my situation and essentially admitting complete ignorance. He helped me make a great decision without being pushy (I went with a New York steak), seasoned it for me, and reminded me to take my free potato. It was a little pricey (just around $20) but SO WORTH IT. Service couldn't have been more friendly or helpful, and my boyfriend loved the steak! (I was there when he cooked it and for what it's worth, it smelled great.) A glowing five stars--I'd gladly make the trek from downtown to Huntington Beach again

Well lets see where do I start. If its your first time to the Palace congrats on joining the elite among meat conesuers. Start off by asking to speak with Sean. The curly haired son of the owner Calvin. He basically runs the place and is worth his salt. Spend a few minutes wondering around and see all that they have to offer. Ribeye, Filet, Pork Chops, Sausage, Ribs, Chicken, and much more. They will cut, trim, butterfly, or anything else you can think of. Their steaks are amazing! If you want a quick meal try the Filet Kabobs. They marinate them in the Scotts Bourdalaise Sauce. You can use this sauce on any piece of beef for a luxurious treat. Every time I go there I stay for a while and ask questions and try to learn as much as possible. Sometimes if you ring the cow bell they will make you a margarita. Oh ya, they also have some awesome seafood. Try the shrimp with the Souix Z Wow sauce. They have a western Australian lobster tail that will put any restaurant to shame. Beef Palace when are you going to open another store??? It is sellfish not to share your gift with the masses.

This is the hands-down best place to buy fresh meat.  My family have been buying meat here since the 70s and never been disappointed.  They used to let me sit on their trademark giant cows outside and eat hot dogs when I was a little kid.  Now they occasionally give me a free pickle, and always free potatoes.  The staff are unfailingly friendly and knowledgeable . The store is super clean. The quality is unbeatable. Try their salami, bacon, filet mignon, or prime rib and you'll never be satisfied with anyone else's.

My sister is so envious that we have such a great butcher close by. The breakfast sausage is wonderful It is only out around Thanksgiving but you can ask for it year round. It is not cheap but you can not go wrong. The customer service is great. When my children started eating solid foods, I would go to Beef Palace and they would fresh grind the beef for me in 1/4 lb packages. They never blink over a special request.
