4 reviews for Beef-A-Roo
For my 100th review, I figure I'd do one of my favorite places in the world...yes, folks, it IS called Beef-A-Roo!
(Are you done laughing at the name yet?)
This is the chain restaurant we always hit up while I was growing up. It's a local chain, and the draw is, you guessed it, beef sandwiches! We're not talking Arby's here...we're talking 100 times better! Delicious, tender sliced beef, soft rolls...accompanied by their phenomenal cheese fries (lots of my friends worked here while we were growing up...they throw away fries after a short while to ensure you're always eating fresh fries).
The salads are good, the chicken is excellent...but you just cannot beat the beef sandwiches!
Eat in the restaurant, and you'll get a peppermint or chocolate mint and a "how's your meal?" from a friendly employee.
Each of the restaurants has a theme. This particular location (Riverside) is the 50s location. Before they put the one in by my high school (the "Northwoods" location), this was THE spot after football games, etc.
I am hungry just thinking about it! (Totally worth the trip to Rockford people!!!)
Basically if you're going to Beef-A-Roo you're first thinking about the cheese fries, oh those glorious cheese fries. Then you're thinking about their signature roast beef sandwiches which I agree with another reviewer that it definitely reigns supreme to Arby's. Then after that you're probably thinking about those cheese fries again. Trust me, you need to try the cheese fries.
Man, is there anything on their menu that isn't good? If there is I havn't found it yet. They could serve me any random thing they make and I'd still be happy.
This is a fast food restaurants that is cooked to order. Cheese fries has made it famous and so has its style for every location. For example try the 60's on Riverside or a Beef A Roo that was build in a old fire station.
When I visit Rockford Beef A Roo is always on the list.
